Toddlers Today's MomsTalk Archive Hello everyone!!! Not having a good day!!! Woke up with a migraine...it's 4:30 and it still won't go away... All is quite here, every one is asleep. Dusty is down for a nap. Terry works nites, so he's always asleep when I'm awake. I got kinda lonely, thought I would see the new posts. I Hope everyone is doing OK. Not much exciting happening here. Post More Later!!! Bye Missy & Dusty email: terrym@safeconnect.com Sunday, August 22, 1999 at 15:30:02 (MDT)) Hello there ladies and babies. I hope that you all had a great weekend. I am sunburnt and don't feel too well again. I had better get well before Friday however or I will not be able to get my tonsils taken out. I don't want that to happen so once again I am on antibiotics. Tomorrow I have to get my lab work done and I am going to take Dillon to the doctor also because he has had a runny nose for over 2 weeks now and it is getting thick and yellow now and he is not getting it out of his system at all. We went to Water World this weekend and took Blake and it was allot of fun. He did everything that Jay and I did and loved it all. Jay was the one that didn't want to do that much. Also they didn't have everything open and that really pissed me off since we still had to pay full price. I will be writing a letter and asking them why we had to pay full price when they couldn't even manage to get enough lifeguards to work there. I mean this is Houston, you can't tell me that there are not enough lifeguards to work there. Oh well, enough about my bitching. Dillon is starting to say Thank You now and he is starting to say other things also. He is so cute and sweet and I am so lucky to have had him. I have been really emotional lately. Like when I think about 12,000 people dying in Turkey and still at least 10,000 missing it makes me cringe. I feel so sorry for all of those people. That is where Jay was born and I was just thinking thank God for that not happening when he was there because they lived there for a while also. I would not have him nor my kiddos . Well on with the posts now because I am very tired and sex time is waiting for me. Missy- I am so sorry that you were lonely and there were not any new posts for you. It seems that it is always like that on the weekend. Guess we are all enjoying just being with DH's that we don't find the time to get on here. I am sorry that you had a migraine. I really hope that it is better now. Kelli- You make that monitor hurry up and get to you. I am having withdraws from you. At least it was still under warranty. Well the good news is that we do not have to be without ours now, it is fixed. MIL bought BIL a cd-writer and so they took out the cd-driver that was in his and gave it to us. So all works fine now. How are you and Elizabeth? Sarah- I saw "You've Got Mail" and I loved it and cried at the end. We also have a DSS and I know what you mean. Actually we have 2 of them and we are renting movies quite a lot lately. CathyG- I can't put those Avon books in the mailboxes here because it is against the law to put anything in someones mailbox so if you are caught then it is jail time for you. It just isn't that important to me. LOL I will try to do good without that. Hope you all had fun at the museum. Do you all have the Frappuchinos for sell at the grocery stores there? We do here. Julianne- I am praying for your friend and the babies. I hope that all will be fine. I hope you had fun tubing down the river. We did that once and I absolutely loved it. We used to go canoeing all the time too . I liked the tubing so much more. Hope that you and Colton are fine and that he gets some more teeth soon so that he can eat everything the toddlers are eating. Cynthia- vacation, what in the world is that? You are not on vacation, you still have all those little people to watch after. A vacation is when you don't have to worry about any of that. LOL Okay girlfriend, you come on and we will have the tonsils out together alright? When will you be here? Would you like to stay with me? I hope the Avon sells itself, I am not good at pressuring people into buying anything. SarahG- I also went out to eat with a friend Friday but my kids were good and hers was the one that was acting up. I guess there is a first time for everything. I am very glad that you got all the problems worked out with the internet. I would freak if I had to do without my daily fix of the internet. Alright, I will talk to you all tomorrow. Take care and sleep well. Tracey and Dillon email: battnt@mindspring.com Sunday, August 22, 1999 at 20:55:17 (MDT)) It's a rainy overcast Monday here in MI. Perfect--I am too sunburnt to handle any sunshine. The water and sun were perfect for tubing Saturday. Everyone had a great time. It was sooooo relaxing. Colton had such a good time at my ILs that he cried when I went to pick him up. They played outside for almost 4 hrs! He only took a 1/2 hr nap the entire day. DH eats Toaster Scrambles for breakfast quite often. We have been trying to get Colton to eat some too the past couple of months. Finally today he did. DH gave him a small piece that had lots of cheese on, he shook his head no, but then we said "it's cheese" and that little mouth opened right up. We had to quick heat up more because he couldn't get enough! Cheese and watermelon are his favorite foods. Sarah: I wish we had a satellite dish for movies. We usually have a late charge once a month, if not more. We get the 5 day rentals and still find ourselves too busy or tired to watch it in the 5 days! Kelli: Hope you get your computer fixed soon. Miss you too. Missy: Hope your migraine went away quickly for you. Those are the worst. At least Dusty was sleeping and quiet for you. Crystal: Happy 1st birthday to Darrel. Tracey: Sounds like you had fun at WaterWorld. Usually putting your complaint in writing gets action. Hope you get a refund or something. I hate it when you go to an amusement park and certain rides are closed. Tired, sick and still looking forward to sex time? You are the woman. I know what you mean about emotional. I was looking at newborn hospital pictures of a co-workers and started to cry. Yeah for Dillon saying "Thank you". Colton is still in baby jabberland most of the time. Doing lots of squealing lately though. Hope everyone has a great week. Julianne & Colton 13 mo email: jjones@batts.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 08:27:16 (MDT)) Good morning! How's everyone's weekends? We had a pretty good weekend. Saturday we got the kids pictures taken, Sofie's first time, finally. We watched 2 really good movies this weekend, "Living Out Loud" with Holly Hunter and Danny Devito, (excellent!) and "The General," and Irish film that was really hard to understand, but very, very good. We spent the evening out last night because I had to bomb the house for fleas. Disgusting!! But, I'm thinking it worked. Thank goodness. Sometimes I'm not so sure about this country living! We came home around 10 and the kids were asleep in the car, put Isaac in his crib to slumber land. He woke up at 12 and about a hundred times after for the next 2 hrs. ugh! Missy- so sorry about your migraine! I know, they're terrible. Hope you're feeling better. Tracey- Glad you enjoyed Waterworld. Bummer it wasn't all open. Stay healthy! Sounds like a good thing taking Dillon to the dr, good luck. Well, better get on with my day. It never cooled off last night- it's 70 already, yuck! Scanner's up and running again, if anyone would like to see a current picture of my kiddos. Bye for now! Sarah g email: gat_men@hotmail.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 08:41:20 (MDT)) Hi Everyone, it's Judy!! We had a great weekend. I hope everyone else did too. Our relatives from Goshen, NY were down to sight see some museums in DC. We all went to Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday night. There were 27 of us!! I got a spurt of energy yesterday and cleaned the inside of my van. I cleaned a bad grease spot off the carpet and vacuumed everywhere. It smells like a new vehicle. Elijah had been playing on the porch but then climbed into the van and was very busy playing and "talking" about the paper towels and the other homemade toys he found. He was so cute. I'm paying for it today. My back hurts and I'm very stiff after sitting at my desk for too long. DH says it's the nesting thing kicking in. Seems a bit early for that though. I'm not due until 10/25. Here are a few personals: Crystal, Tracey, Sarah G., Cathy G. - Thanx for the support about Elijah and sharing. He's my first and I'm still learning!! I had no idea that the sharing concept doesn't come until 3 or 4. Wow, that's a long time. I do hope he grows out of this phase way before then. Julianne - I hope your friend with the triplets is ok and I hope her babies will be ok too. Is she ready for taking care of 3 at once? That is so much work, I can only imagine doing the next thing without even thinking about it and grabbing a few minutes of sleep when possible. Lynn and Alexandria - Congratulations on your upcoming delivery!! I tried to find stay-at-home-work also but had no luck. I just read that Tracey is going to sell AVON from home. Maybe you could do that too. Judy and Elijah (16 months tomorrow) email: jhintz@manu.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 10:05:35 (MDT)) Hi you guys!! SARAH and HANNAH here! I know I'm wandering, but I sure do miss you guys! We'll be over here in 12 days!!!!! I can't wait! 3 or 4 more new people posted over the weekend on BT. It's just so hard to keep up!! PATTY and LISA will be on here by next week, too. Well, that' all I had to say. I can't wait to join you all. Sarah and Hannah email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 10:24:27 (MDT)) Good morning from Rita. We survived Amy's baptism. (If you want to read my gripes about some of my ILs, check out BT) We were driving to the church when Maddy called out to me. I turned around to see her face covered in blood. I was a little panicked until I realized that it was a nose bleed. Of course, she was wearing a light blue dress with white flowers. I grabbed some diaper wipes and started cleaning her up as best I could from the front seat. She kept wiping her nose with her hands and arms, so it was all over her. Luckily the bleeding soon stopped and I got her cleaned up with only a small spot of blood on her sleeve. Thank goodness for diaper wipes and for the fact that she really didn't know what the blood was. She was terrible in church. She would sit for a short time with my sister and then run up to be with us or climb around the altar. I am glad that the deacon was very relaxed and informal. She even ran up to him and gave him a hug (she has this thing about grandpa-like figures). I think that we need to wait a while longer to bring her to church. Julianne - Your friend Carrie and her three girls are in our thoughts and prayers. Well, I must attend to some work. Take care everyone! Rita & Maddy(31 mos+) email: ritad@home.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 11:11:02 (MDT)) Crystal here. Darrel's party was Saturday, and it was long, tiring, but very successful. I had a cook-out. It's a family tradition to cook-out for parties, no matter what the occasion or the time of the year. It was a good party. It lasted for about 5 hours! The babies were very good about it. The cake was good. Darrel got clotes, shoes, and toys. He didn't want to dig into his cake. He just wanted to play with his new toys. Of course, I can't blame him. Darrel didn't even try to open his presents. He just banged on them like he does everything else. Well, gotta go. Darrel is getting cranky. Oh, when do toddlers stop acting like babies? I know that nothing changes overnight come the 1st birthday, but I was just curious. And what's the normal age for standing alone? Darrel is still refusing to. I know that he'll do in his own time, but sometimes it worries me. It's worse when I see other babies Darrel's age walking or standing alone, especially when people start making comments about Darrel not walking or even standing. That's all for now. I'll post some more later. Crystal and Darrel 12months email: cjeanmurphy@yahoo.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 14:09:21 (MDT)) Hey everyone, long time no talk!! Not too much action around here lately. I guess everyone just wanted to save all the good stuff until I got back :-). Allison's vocabulary is expanding everyday. It's absolutely amazing to me how many things she can say at her age. Her newest word, however, has got to be the cutest thing I have ever heard!! It's "chicken"! And she pronounces it PERFECTLY! It cracks be up! Most of her other words only Dh and I can understand, but she says chicken as plain as day. Too funny to hear her say it too. Another thing she has started saying funny is baby. She says it bae bae like she has a big ol' southern twang. Too cute! We had a great time on our vacation. Allison ended up loving the pool and it was very relaxing. Wish I could take a week off every month to go somewhere. AHH, that would be the life. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be happy with working everyday and having the most wonderful little girl ever. :-) Julianne- I would leave Colton with grandma. Especially since it is only until October. It probably keeps her in good spirits and health and it good for Colton to be with his granny too. Sarah M - can't wait to see you over here for good. Happy almost birthday to Hannah! Tracey - good luck with having your tonsils out. I was 7 when I had mine done and don't remember too much about it, but I don't think it was too much fun (sorry). I think my throat hurt too much to eat ice cream and boy was I mad!! Since everyone had told me I could have all I wanted. Kelli - hope your monitor gets fixed soon. We'll miss you while your computer deprived. Rita - Maddy nose event sounds traumatic. Glad you got it cleaned up with a minimum amount of mess. Glad Amy's baptism went well..aren't IL's wonderful?? Judy - such energy cleaning your van. I need to get enough energy to clean my house. Think you can pass some this way? Sarah g - I would love to picts of your kids. Send them this way. Missy - hope you feel better soon. Migraines are horrible things. I've only had one, and that was enough for me. Lynn- sorry I can't help with the work at home problem. I would love to be able to do it to.. Thought about keeping kids here. Thats always a possibility for you too. There seems to be pretty decent money in it. I just needed to work for the health insurance as DH's only covers him. Crystal - I wouldn't worry too much about Darrel walking. Allison didn't stand alone until 14 months and is just now getting to where she will walk a lot. She STILL prefers to crawl and if she thinks too much about where she has to go then she will drop, but if she doesn't think about it then she will walk. She's walking more every day. I've read that some kids can wait as long as 18 months to walk and all times are perfectly within normal range. Well, gotta go. I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight so I'll talk to you ladies tomorrow. Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite! Beth and Allison (15 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 19:34:44 (MDT)) Hi everyone!! Boy! has it ever been a Monday. I show up early for work, and every one else is 2 hours late,or not coming. (I should have went home). And to beat it all we heard gunshots this afternoon. I'm afraid to watch the 10 o'clock news....LOL How is everyone? Thank you guys for hoping my headache is better. Tracy- At least you have a waterpark to go to. West TN doesn't have one any where is reasonable driving distance. They have shut all of them down. They say it was due to poor management. Juliane- Watermelon is one of Dustys favorite foods to. I'm praying for your friends and her Babes. Sarah-I'm glad someone get to see the movies. I don't get to go unless it's one that my husband wants to see. So I just don't go... and I don't know when the last time was I rented a movie. Rita- I know how it is. Dusty can pull a few good ones too. Thank goodness for the nursery. Crystal- Dusty is 21 months and he still has his baby moments, I guess he'll leave the baby behind when he feels like it. Well gotta go Dusty is having a tantrum... Maybe I should let him play his teletubbie PC game. More later......BYE Missy & Dusty email: terrym@safeconnect.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 19:52:49 (MDT)) Hi Mommies, it’s Judy!! It’s late (9:45 pm) for me and I’m getting ready to go to bed but I had to see who posted. I spoke with a girl at KinderCare this morning about my concerns for Elijah having to adjust to giving up his morning nap. She was reassuring to me and I’m not so fearful now. They will try to keep him active and playing until it’s time to eat lunch, but if he is falling asleep earlier than the schedule, they’ll put him on the cot. Licensing requires all sleeping children to be on cots. I’m all set with the rest of his papers and we’ll have to pay them the first week’s tuition plus a deposit of a week’s tuition. That’s $476 to start. Ouch!! The timing is difficult with us gathering money for settlement in a few weeks. Here are a few personals: Rita – How scary to see blood all over your child’s face. It sounds like you handled it very well. I’ve read that if the parent freaks, so will the child and if the parent stays calm, the child will follow their lead. Crystal – Happy First Birthday to Darrel!! Try not to worry about his standing or walking. Elijah was 14 months when he attempted his first steps. He was constantly falling down and crawling. He’s a big baby (32 lbs now) and I think that slowed his progress. I couldn’t help but compare him to other friend’s babies, but that’s not fair to Elijah. Darrel will walk when he’s ready and when he does, you’ll be running after him remembering how much easier it was when he only crawled!! Judy and Elijah (16 months tomorrow) email: jhintz@manu.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 19:54:24 (MDT)) Hello All! Kahne here, Escaping from BT for a while. I miss all of you, I started on BT with all of you, now I am there with a bunch of people I hardly know!!! I am so stuck, I have concerns that are more toward toddler issues, so I may "sneak" on here every now and again. Cat is a cruising wonder now. She acts like she wants to stand alone and when she finds herself doing so, she panics. Did all of yours do this? She also has an irrational fear of one particular toy. It is a ball with beads in it that you can see. Whenever she sees it, she screams and screams. I have tried to take it away, and give it back later, she screams more. Should I just drop it? Cat has started assigining sounds to objects. DA is DH, I am MA, MIL is GA. Her cup or bottle is BA. She osent string two together, it is not MAMA, just MA. I guess it is just Cat's style, :o). I just wanted to say how much I miss all of you, and I will be here soon, in 4 short months. I Love you all, and Tracy, I have to get my tonsils out soon as well, so I am with you sister! Bye all! Kahne and Cat 8 months Now email: skcx2@fnbop.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 20:21:15 (MDT)) Hey everyone! Well, we just got our new monitor and I have been checking our e-mail ever since. We had over 100 messages in a week! Ugh! ANyway... I just wanted to check in. I can't write now... it's too late and I am tired. I hope eveyrone is doing okay. Did I miss anything? I'll be back tomorrow... Take care! Kelli & Elizabeth, 13 mo. email: Rkncs@aol.com Monday, August 23, 1999 at 23:42:31 (MDT)) It's another rainy dreary day. I know I shouldn't complain because we need the rain, but I am planning on taking tomorrow off to bring Colton to the fair. Keep your fingers crossed for lots of sunshine. I saw my friend Carrie in the hospital over the weekend. It always amazes me how positive and upbeat she is. I have never once heard her complain about her pregnancy and bedreast or even fret about having triplets. I double checked the weight and the 2 smaller ones are barely 2 pounds and the bigger one is 2.7. I will keep you all updated. I think she got a big reality dose with Colton visiting. He was very active, never sat still once. He kept me running from one outlet to another on opposite walls. I had just told myself the day before that I should pack outlet protectors in his diaper bag. They have been added now! She kept saying "oh, my, is he always like this?" Colton played hide & seek with me last night. He just giggled and giggled. I was getting tired chasing him from room to room though. I love our time together when I get home from work. He wants to hug and play lots because he has missed me. I can't wait to get home to hear his little giggles and this silly fake laugh he does to show off. Cynthia: Great pictures of Adam. SarahG: Hope Isaac sleeps better tonight. I would love to see his new pictures. Judy: I have plenty of things to clean at my house if you run out of projects! Sarah: Wow, only 12 days until Hannah is 1! How are your plans for her first b-day going? Rita: Sounds like Maddy wanted to share the spotlight on Amy's day. Wow, you did a great job of cleaning up the bloody nose. We bring Colton to the nursery when we go to church--he is way too noisy. Crystal: Glad Darrel's party went well. Colton was standing fairly early but he is very light for his age. He loves to play with magnets on the fridge. I would put them up high so he would have to stand to play with them. Also, when we lowered his crib he had to stand to play with his activity center. He also loves to play with the throw pillows on our couch (NASCAR ones!) All this standing while playing helped him to cruise and stand without fear. CathyG: Sounds like you had a great vacation. Yeah for Alison saying chicken--too cute. Missy: You scare me with your stories about gun shots by your work. Does this happen often? I will be praying for your safety. Judy: Colton's daycare told me Friday that he like to lay down by the ivy and take a nap outside! Other than that he is down to one nap during the day there. He usually falls asleep on the ride home though. Julianne & Colton 13 mo email: jjones@batts.com Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 07:53:50 (MDT)) Hello everybody! I hope that this day is going well for you. We are all fine here in Texas. I was hoping that the hurricane would make itself farther up on the Texas coast but no such luck and we have not had any rain in about 1 1/2 months and everything is dying. The grass is getting all brown and my poor plants are not doing too well because I can't afford to water them all everyday. So it is still hot and dry here and there does not seem to be any relief in sight. I am ready for some cold weather and snow but I know that will never happen here so whoever lives where it snows during the winter, I am paying you a visit this winter. LOL Well Dillon is being cranky again but it is about time for a nap so he will be going in bed in a few minutes after I finish this post. He still does not have the molars in and that nose is down right gross today. I am giving him his antibiotics that he was put on yesterday and I will be so glad when that nose is back to normal. So 3 out of 5 people in this house are on antibiotics right now. What a sick family we have. LOL Jay was working under our sink because we had a leak and Dillon was right down there with him trying to help. It was cute but Jay wasn't too happy about it. Sometimes he acts like they should be all grown up and never act like kids. I thought it was very cute. Julianne- I am glad to hear that you all had a nice time tubing and the weather was perfect for it. Doesn't it make you glad to know that Colton had such a nice time t the IL's? At least you know that they did not ignore him. Sorry you got sunburned though, I am in the same boat with you there. That is cute about Colton and the Toaster Scrambles. We ear those also, Dillon's favorite food is EVERYTHING! I have not found anything that he does not like. Tomorrow you can send the rain here and I will send you our sunshine. Is that a deal? I hope your friend is doing well and the babies will be fine. Technology is great these days. SarahG- I can assure you the fleas will still be there. We went through the same thing not long ago and we bombed twice and they were still here. I will tell you what to do though. Put out some rock salt in little caps and put them all around the house in all the rooms where the kids can't get them and in a few days they will be gone. It really works. I didn't think it would but we have no more. Glad to know that you all had such a nice weekend. We had a busy and nice weekend also. Also, don't be complaining about it being 70 already when it never gets below 70 here at night. We are almost 90 degrees at 11 AM. Enjoy your weather! Judy- I want to take Blake to Chuck E. Cheese also but we have to go to Houston for that. Next time we are going to try to take him. He would love it. Glad you got your van cleaned but sorry that you are paying for it now. Elijah sounds so cute playing in the van. That is allot of money to have to pay for daycare. I am going to start babysitting and I am only going to charge $50 a week or $175 a month. Sarah- I can't wait for you and Hannah to be here with us! I miss you so much! Yeah Jarin is 1 on Friday and Max on Saturday so they will be here with us next week. Rita- I saw your pic and you are very pretty and that curly hair on Maddy is adorable. Sorry about the nose bleed but at least you got almost all of it cleaned up. At least the Baptism is over with now. I am getting Baptized in about 3 weeks. Crystal- Glad that Darrel had such a nice party. I love cookouts even though they are a big pain in the butt. I sent him a card to your hotmail address. I hope that you get it. Sorry that you got laid off already. Beth- Glad that you all had a nice vacation. Sounds like Allison has quite the time and she is too cute with her words. I will have to say though that I have the best daughter ever and the cutest. LOL I know it will hurt when I have my tonsils out. Blake just had his out in February and they only wanted him eating ice cream the first day and then back to regular food. Missy- Where on earth do you live that there was gunshots? I know that we are lucky to have a water park to go to but still when you have to pay $55 for 3 people I would like to be able to do everything. Glad you are feeling better. Kahne- Sorry that there isn't many people that you know on BT anymore. You know you can come here whenever you want to. I heard from Patty about your tonsils. It will be better to have them out you know. Even if it does hurt like you know what. How are you and Cat and how is school? Kelli- Glad that you got your new monitor. Sorry I sent you some of that mail. LOL Will talk more later. Tracey & Dillon email: battnt@mindspring.com Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 10:06:59 (MDT)) Hi from LisaB. Max turns 1 on Saturday so I'll be joining you ladies next week. Crystal, Darrel's Mom, e-mailed me that she is having trouble logging onto this site today. I just wanted to let you all know that she's doing fine ... is just having some computer problems. See you all soon! LisaB & Max (1 on Saturday) Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 12:00:48 (MDT)) Hello from Rita. Hope that everyone is doing well today. Tracey - Thanks for the compliment. I sent that picture in a month and a half ago. I have already changed my hair. I wasn't planning on anything but a trim, but I had it cut last week on a whim as I was looking through some style books. I really don't have the time to mess with it, so a "mommy-do" is the most convenient. Of course, Larry would like it long. Have you tried using Advantage on your dog? Since we started using it, we have not seen a flea in the house and we have two dogs and two cats. I can remember having to bomb the house, bath the animals and spray the yard in the old days. Thank goodness for the new flea control products! Julianne - I am glad that your friend is so positive about her pregnancy. That will really serve her well. Maddy and I will continue to pray for her and the babies. Well, have to make sure that our support engineer gets the daily update. Take care everyone! Rita & Maddy(31 mos) email: ritad@home.com Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 13:04:25 (MDT)) Good Afternoon Friends, Becky & Harley here. Yesterday I posted a great long post and lost it. ARGHHHHHH! Thats the first time that has happened to me. Harley is doing great running all over the house chasing mommy and the dogs. He still really isn't saying words yet, but he makes the cutest little Huh? sound all the time. He is getting his molars in and is having some bad bouts of pain especially when he first wakes up. He is a brave little guy though. Judy-My Husband has ridden the same HD motorcycle for over 30 years. We thought it would be a neat name for Harley and that other kids would have trouble making fun of the name. His middle name is Havis after DH's Father (Havis is also DH's middle name). Chuck E. Cheese sounds like it was a lot of fun. Sarah G & Issaac-Thank you for the Angel Hair Pomidero receipe I'm going to try it soon. YUM. Hope the flea bombs work. We have had troubles with them in the past. Eucalyptus leaves also repeal fleas. I would LOVE to see your pics. Cynthia-I take showers sometimes with Harley too. Don't they just love it? Juliane-Tubing sounded great. Harley loves cheese and watermelon too. Since he's been teething sometimes it is hard to get him to eat anything. I am praying for your friend with triplets. Sarah & Amanda-Thanks for the B-day wishes! Sarah & Hannah/Lisa B & Max-I can't wait until you get here. Why don't you just come over now? We miss you. Tracey-Dill sounds so cute saying Thank you and helping Daddy. I'm sorry you got sunburnt. Good luck on your tonsilectomy. Rita-I'm glad the batism went well. Sorry about the bloody nose. Be sure and let me know when you all are coming to the Renassaince Faire in Vacaville. I would love to meet in person. Crystal-The Birthday party sounds like lots of fun, I'm glad it went well. I sometimes worry that Harley isn't saying real words yet, but he runs all over; so I wouldn't worry about Darryl not standing yet-I think it was Lisa B who commented that a lot of babies seem to either advance vocally or physically faster (Did that make any sense?) Anyways I'm sure both our babies are perfect!!! Beth-A southern drawl how adorable! Do you have an accent? I forgot where do you live? Missy-Gun Shots? What happened? Kahne-We miss you too! Why not come over to our board now? Harley also has fear of a toy. He is terrified of Tickle me Elmo. I don't know why since alot of babies love it. Good luck with your tonsils too. Take Care Becky & Harley Bug - 1 year email: bsmisek@scfair.org Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 17:37:00 (MDT)) Crystal here. I was finally able to get on today. I've been having problems getting on this and BT board all day. I could go anywhere else but these two sites. Oh well, at least I can now. Well, I tricked Darrel into standing twice today. The first time was at WIC. He pullled himself up using a chair, and I handed him his sippy cup. He grabbed it with both hands, until he realized that he was standing alone. Then, he dropped his cup and grabbed the chair real quick. The second time, I was holding onto Darrel's hands adn helping him walk. We stopped and I let go of him. He stood for a few seconds until he realized that I wasn't holding onto him. Darrel cruises all the time. He even "walks" across the room using his push toys, and he loves it. He thinks it's a game to crawl to one piece of furniture, pull himself up, cruise around it, and then crawling to another piece of furniture and doing it all over again. Darrel's not exactly heavy. He ranges between 20 and 25 pounds depending on how much he eats during the day and how active he is. Darrel can stand alone, but he won't try. Sometimes I feel like I'm pushing him to do it, but at other times, I feel like maybe that's what he needs, that he may need that extra encouragement because he could be scared. I feel that if he would give standing alone a chance, that he may even enjoy it. Well, I took Darrel to the park today. He hated it. He was scared of the slide. He was afraid of the toddler swings, and he hated the jungle gym. I'm thining that Darrel's just afraid to try new things. Going to new places adn meeting new people is no problem for him. Trying new things on the other hand is a disaster. But, I'm going to talk to the dr. tomorrow about his refusal to stand alone even though he's physically capable. The funny thing is, the few times that he actually does stand on his own will, he will automatically grab something if he sees that he's being wacthed. Last night I had a dream that I went to the park with Darrel and some of our friends. One of our friends and I went to the bathroom while another watched Darrel. When we came back, Darrel was standing alone. The other babies in the playgroup were already walking. Darrel still wasn't. well, he was standing and one of the babies were walking near him. I called for him to come to me. Darrel took one step and then got down on all fours and crawled towards me. Then later that day, Darrel was standing again. I called for him and he took off running in the opposite direction. Well, that's it for now. Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Darrel. I live in West Tennessee, (Home of the southern accent LOL :) Believe me I sound worse than I type. I live in a small college about an hour and 1/2 out of Memphis. You can walk the streets at night and push your strollers and not worry. And all your neighbors say Hi. But I work in Jackson, in almost the worst part. We have bums coming to the door begging for money. Last week a nurse was held hostage from the hospital a couple of streets over. We have a contract on a new building. But the lady who owns it is dragging her feet, She wants to close in Nov. Tommorrow wouldn't be some enough for me. I Hope every one is well. I can't type much, Dusty doesn't want me on the computer. Post more later. God Bless!!!!!!!Bye!!!!! Missy & Dusty email: terrym@safeconnect.com Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 19:29:33 (MDT)) Well the BT board is down, so yall may have a few invaders, lol. How is everyone? Well I hope. I dont remember who was asking aboutfleas, but when we had our dogs, we used advantage as well. It is a little on the steep side, but well worth it if you ask me. I worked for a vet for 3 years, and fleas, like all other blood suckers, carry disease. Advantage, or Heartguard (flea and worm control) are your best bets. Cat walked a little today, she walked from the chair to the TV, and left little nose and hand prints all over it, too cute! Juggling all of this is getting difficult I have to admit. Especially being ill. Classes are hard, even though I enjoy them, but I havent put cat to bed in three days! I feel like I am missing Mommy time. I woke her up at 6 am, just So I could be with her for a little while, Just the two of us. She still wont let anyone give her her bath but Mommy. Damn that makes me feel good. LOL. She still has no teeth. Should I be concerned? I know it is not bad unless they go over a year, but ALL babies get teeth by 8 months, dont they?Any of you have late teethers? Well I have to shower before bed, 6 am comes mighty early :o). I love you all, and I think some of the "older" Mommies may be making their way over soon. BT has so many Newborns, and the concerns are just not the same as ours. * Crystal* I forgot Little Mans birthday Didn't I. If i didnt I am saying it again, Happy Birthday! Nite all! Kahne and Cat 8 months TODAY email: skcx2@fnbop.com Tuesday, August 24, 1999 at 22:40:18 (MDT)) Hi Everyone, it's Judy!! Happy Wednesday to everyone. It's hump day!! My DH was so thoughtful last night. We were watching Jeopardy last night and I was falling asleep in the chair. He told me I ought to go upstairs and get ready for bed and he would put Elijah to bed. I was so grateful for that suggestion, I didn't even argue. I got 10 hours of much needed sleep!! I actually feel rested today. I'd love to get that much sleep for the rest of the pregnancy but I know that won't happen. It seems the bigger I'm getting, the more physically tired I'm getting too. Here are some personals: Kahne and Cat - I just love to hear Elijah try to say words too. They're so cute. If you're keeping notes on Cat's progress in a baby book, be sure to phonetically spell the way she's learning to talk. You'll both have fun with it when she's older. About teeth-Elijah got his first tooth at 9 months on the top left of center. That was a strange place for the first tooth. Then just before he turned 10 months, he got 2 more. He's now 16 months and only has a total of 7. Try not to worry about Cat. The teeth will come!! Julianne - Colton sounds so cute. Elijah likes to play hide and seek behind the drapes at my moms house. He giggles too. I have to get it on video pretty soon because he seems to go through different phases of things he finds funny. As soon as October gets here I'll be right over to clean your whole house!! I'll do everything I can to get labor started earlier than 10/25!! How's Carrie doing? Tracey - Your daycare rates are much more reasonable. Do you have an opening? Ha ha. How old is Blake? There are lots of games for kids of all ages. Lisa B. & Max - I remember you from BT. Happy early birthday to Max!! Missy - Please be careful when you're going and coming from your job. That sounds so scary. I hope your company is able to move out of there very soon. Poor Amy is stuffy because we have actually been using the A/C these past few days. Kahne - Maddy didn't get her first tooth until she was eleven months old. Amy looks like she is going to be the same way. I can see the lateral incisors up in her gums but don't think that they are in a hurry to come out. She likes to gnaw on things (including me!) and drools up a storm but I don't think that it's really teething at this point. The good thing about Maddy's late teething is that it didn't bother her very much and I never had to use anything other than giving her chew toys. I hope it goes as easy for Cat. Well, I had better do some work. Take care everyone! Rita & Maddy(31 mos) email: ritad@home.com Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at 09:53:53 (MDT)) It's Sarah g here. I went to school on Monday night. I got the html class I wanted. It's really basic, but it's a really good way to start. DH took care of the kids, and I was actually surprized, he handled it pretty well (usually there's a trail of stuff all over the house, and random dirty diapers left out on the couch!!!) Isaac has slept much better since that treason night. He has to have his routines, or he has a real hard time. The other day Isaac leaned over on my shoulder and said "Wuv eachother." It was pretty cool. Just out of the blue. Mommy rewards :) Thanks for all the advice on fleas, guys. They are such a pain! So far, they're still gone. I plan to bomb again this weekend, just to be sure. Tracey- Rock salt? Wow. What ever works, huh! I'll be sure to give it a try if they come back. Ok- I guess I shouldn't complain about the weather, we've had a mild summer for here. Hope your family all gets well soon! Rita- Glad you made it through Amy's baptism. Isn't it crazy the timing of things like bloody noses in the car! The joys of parenting!! :) Becky- Harley sounds pretty cute chasing the dogs! I'll send pic's later this week. I'd love to see one of your little guy. Are you in Northern CA? I read something about Vacaville. We are north east of Sacramento. Cynthia- Thanks for the great pictures of Adam in the empty tv box. They're great! Isaac has an empty big box that we've had in the living room since Feb.! Great decor- Isaac says it's his house. Crystal- Darrel will be up and around before you know it! Soon you might even wish for a crash helmet for him! :) Don't worry, you can't hurry a baby, that's for sure. How's he doing at your daycare? Is he more rested now? Judy- Lucky you! 10 hrs of sleep!! That's great! Julianne- It's amazing to me that your friend with the triplets is so positive. It makes me feel guilty about my griping with only one at a time. I bet that will even make a difference in her and her babies' health. Better go! bye! First of all I have a HUGE favor to ask of you all. Dillon is going to be in a Cute Baby Contest from Friday thru Thursday. I am asking you all to please vote on him at least once a day if you can and even more if you can. I am really hoping that he will win. I am asking everyone I know to vote on him and it will mean so much to me. You know that I would do it for you if you all asked me to. The web address is http://www.20ishparents.com/babycontest/babycontest.shtml I also have another request which is actually much more important than the first. My brother and his wife are having marriage problems right now and I am asking for you all to pray for them. It will tear our family apart if anything happens between them because we all love her so much. Please pray for them. Thanks so much. Other than that, we are all doing well here. Only two more days until I have those blasted tonsils out. Dillon has been very cranky and is now on antibiotics and I have been quite depressed and the family situation does not help at all. Also my mom's uncle died last night and my great grandmother is not doing well either. So as you all can tell, I can use all the prayers that I can et right now. Well Dillon is now crying so I am going to go for now. I hope that everyone is doing well. I love you. We have lived there before. We have friends there and family in Bakersfield. Dh's employer moves us, Thank God, so I really don't have to do alot. He's been for a good two hours. Well, anyway, I'm just here to repost the post I lost. I took Darrel to his dr. appointment today, and things aren't exactly the greatest right now. Darrel lost just over three pounds, so he's down to 21 pounds and 12 ounces. The dr. said that if he's still unwilling to stand alone within the next month to bring him in. Darrel is just barely eating, so the dr. wants me to give him vitamins and increase his caloric iintake. To all the bt escapees: Hi! You are more than welcome to post. I posted early here too because, as Kahne said, there are too many newborns on BT. I had questions that geared more on the toddler side, and who is better to answer than parents of toddlers? So, you're all more than welcome to post. Shanna from BT is in need of prayers. She left to visit her grandmother who is dying unepectedly. I think she went to California. Well, anyway, JulieJ from BT gave everyone on that side the message. Tracey: I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers. And, I'll even vote for Dillon at every chance I get. Dillon will definitely win hands down. I hope and pray that things will get better for yur family and that the sick people get well, and I'll be praying for you about yur surgery. I hope all goes well. My mom's surgery is Monday. She is very much afraid, so please keep her in yur prayers. Well, that's all for now. Hopefully I don't lose this post as well. If so, I'll take it as a sign. Goodbye for now. Crystal and Darrel 12 months email: cjeanmurphy@yahoo.com Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at 21:10:41 (MDT)) Hello!! Everything has been going good here. Not too much happening really. Elizabeth is a little sweetie. We got her a little ride toy and she has been having a ball walking it around. She still isn't walking alone yet. She loves pushing around her little scooter though. There are a few new names on here who have joined in the past week. First of all, Welcome to you all! Missy & Dusty, Ugh... Migraines! I get them about 4 or 5 times a year and DH usually has to stay home to take care of Elizabeth. I am totally out of commission when I get a migraine. So, I can relate to how you feel! WOW... I didn't realize daycare was so expensive!! Elizabeth also says "What's that" a 1000 times a day, except it comes out, "Whassssat?". I think it is so cute when our little ones really begin to talk. Tracey, After I finish this post, I will go and vote for Dillon. I went to the website to vote earlier today and I didn't seen him on the page. Yes, I would write and complain at Water World if I were you! Maybe you can get a little bit of a refund. It's so sad about the Turkey earthquake. I can't even imagine all of those who didn't make it! That is such a high number... It's hard to even think about it! I sure hope you and your family get to feeling better! Julianne, Elizabeth's favorite food is cheese also! She will always go to the fridge and say cheeeeeeeesssss. It's so cute. Wellllll.... did you have a good day at the fair? I hope you got plenty of sunshine! Judy, It sounds like you had a good weekend. Now, you need to sit down and RELAX! I have a friend who is due on Sept. 9th and she has a 18 month old and it's about to do her in. That's so nice of DH letting you go back and get some sleep. Sarah & Hannah, I'll be looking forward to your arrival over to TT! Rita, had your name down along with Maddy and nose but don't know why... Oh yeah... must have been about her bloody nose in the car on the way to Amy's baptism. Great timing for a bloody nose, huh? But atleast she's not really hurt. Crystal, I wouldn't worry ONE BIT about Darrell not walking or staning yet. And to be completly honest, that kind of irked me about your dr. telling you to come back if Darrell wasn't standing in one month. Elizabeth is 13 1/2 months and STILL isn't standing alone, let alone walking! The normal walking age is anywhere from 12 to 16 months. I have a friend with a little boy who is 15 months and he began walking at 14 months. Beth's baby Allison is just barely walking. I have 3 really great books here and ALL of them say not to worry unless your child is 18 months or older and not walking. ALSO... Elizabeth's pediatrician is a father of 4 (his kids range in age between 1 1/2 and 11 years) and he said 2 of his children didn't walk until 14 and 15 months. SOOOO... you have no reason to worry! Relax and don't let anyone tell you that Darrell should be walking!! Beth, Tat is so cute about Alliosn saying Chicken so clearly! I wish I could hear her little voice saying that! The word that ELizabeth says most clearly is EAT. Wonder why? LOL! Yes, wouldn't it be nice taking a week off once a month! Glad you had a nice time! I sure missed ya! LisaB, I can't wait until you make it over! I miss your advice! Becky & Harley, Glad to see you made it here! Sarah and Amanda, Ooops, I mean HELEN and Amanda, I hope things slow down for you after the older kids get back in school. Are you all settled in your new home now that you've been there for a little while? Debbie, Good luck w/ the move! I don't envy you one bit. Also, Gongrats on DH's promotion! So, is Maddie sticking her tongue out very much anymore? I too wonder where MY pictures are! I never imagined it would take nearly 9 MONTHS for them to circulate! Argh! It rained all morning and afternoon so my SIL and I took the kids to Playworld for a couple of hours. Niether of us had been there before. They had lots of fun. Colton loved the pit of balls. His favorite toys are balls and trucks. The look on his face when I set him in there was priceless. He grinned from ear to ear and shook his arms like YEAH!! I dropped him off to MIL so I could go to my dentist appt. Found out I have 2 cavities. Yuck. But, when I left I noticed the rain had stopped. MIL and I decided to take Colton to the fair. Colton loved the bunnies the best. He just giggled when the jumped around. I am allergic to hay/straw so after 5-6 animal barns I was feeling awful--sneezing, itchy eyes, voice about gone...Grandma had to take him in the last one by herself. It was worth it though to hear his giggles. I will be feeling all better by tomorrow. The little traitor wanted his Grandma to hold him & not me though. :( He rode on the carrousel with me. My dad and I were talking about Darrel's dr. appointment from yesterday. Then Darrel started to tell my dad that the dr. is bad, or at least that's what it sounded like!!!! It was so funny and so adorable. My dad kept telling him that dr. are good because they make you feel better when yu are sick. Then Darrel said "Doer ba. Doer hur." My little boy is afraid of doctors. He was referring to his shots. He got three of them and a tb test. Poor child. His dr. doesn't give the chicken pox vaccine, so I'm taking him to the health department for it in a few weeks. Well, for the very first time this morning, Darrel was standing holding onto his crib and stooped down to pick something up and stood up again with the object in his hand. I was so happy when he did that. I was starting to worry about that, too. He has always put the object on the table and then pulled himself up or just sit down until he was done playing with it. Darrel has been eating better today. He ate his breakfast and had a morning snack. That's unusual for him this past week. Milk and juice, on the other hand, is now being rejected. It's not being rejjected completely. He'll drink a few ounces during the whole meal or snack and then not want anymore. And when it comes to meals, I have realized that I cannot cook something for me and Darrel with him around. Otherwise, he gets real mad. I can't give him a small snack while I'm cooking because then he won't eat his dinner. So, I cook during his naps and then can heat the food up in the microwave when it's time to eat. Usually I'll eat before Darrel while he's still sleeping, share my food with him, or eat after he goes to sleep. Easier that way. Well, I gotta go know. I'l talk some more later. Crystal and Darrel 12 months email: cjeanmurphy@yahoo.com Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 09:58:31 (MDT)) Good morning from Rita. We are still having some warm weather out here. I am so glad that I bought a bunch of short outfits for Maddy during the spring. Thank goodness for Ross! Maddy is now only about an inch or two shorter than her cousin Lucia, who is twenty two months older than her. We won't be getting many more hand-me-downs. Maddy's feet are already close to the same size. We will be saving the clothes for Amy, I guess. It is going to be so expensive to have to buy all of Maddy's clothes for the fall and winter. I am constantly buying things in a size ahead when I see them on sale or at discount stores. Time for another trip to the outlets, too. Debbie - I sent your pictures and Kelli's on to Rebecca or Megan a while ago. I only keep them a day or two, since I know how long it has been taking. I understand that my pictures are lost somewhere. (I sure wish that we could hear from Dana!) It has worked out quite well having the girls together. Maddy loves having Amy with her. Her first question when she wakes up is "where's Amy?" They love to snuggle together. Sometimes when Maddy is having a hard time waking up, we put Amy on her bed and they snuggle until Maddy feels better and is ready to start the day. They do have their moments when they won't go to sleep right away, but when either of them is really tired, they go right to sleep despite what the other one is doing. I shared a room with my brother until I was eight and with my sister until I was sixteen, so I remember how great it was. We told stories, had make believe games and my mom often had to hush us when we got older. Becky - Since this seems to be our bust time of the year (things to do every weekend), we will probably go to the Ren Faire the last weekend of September. How does that sound to you? My DH used to ride a Harley, but it has been at least fifteen years since he's owned one. He has a Honda ST1100 these days. I miss riding with him.:-( He likes some of the new Harleys. We go to the big show at the Cow Palace almost every year. Tracey - Good luck on the tonsilectomy tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you. I hope that your brother and SIL can work things out. I'll go check out those babies (who can't possibly be cuter than Dillon) and place my vote for Dillon, of course. Crystal - I hope that Darrel continues to eat well for you. I have never had a problem with Maddy and food, except that she has now become a picky eater when she used to eat anything. She does still have a healthy appetite, especially for cheese in any form, yogurt and applesauce. Wow, this has been a big post. Time to get back to some work. Take care ladies! Rita & Maddy(31 mos) email: ritad@home.com Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 10:59:43 (MDT)) Hey Mommies! Kahne here. Just got home from school. One of you asked how it is to do homework and study. Tough, I have had to give up a lot. I havent rocked Cat to sleep in days. I have to stay up late and get up early, cause the easiest time to study is after she is asleep. I have 2 tests tomorrow, and two next week. I am constantly on my toes. With this illness and the wedding, it is a lot harder. I think after I am well, and the wedding is over, things will be going a lot more smoothly. Dont get me wrong, I love the activity! I love the thinking and the sense of fufillment I get from going. But I miss being just mommy, too. It is hard on both counts. She was so cute this morning, I hated to go, I was 20 min late for class. Speaking of the fart (we call her that cause she looks like her daddy farted her out, lol), she is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! She is finally pulling up on the coffee table, she was scared of it before. I find myself amazed of how much she is scared of. Especially balls, i know that sounds bad :o). I found a 101 Dalmation ball that the ittle girls nextdoor lost in our yard, so I brought it to the front yard to play with Cat. She screamed and cried at it. Ant thing that is round, she hates. I dont know what this fear is or where it comes from. I thought babies were taught to be afraid of things. Any ideas ladies??? * Crystal * I hope little Man is feeling better. It makes me sad to know that he is not feeling well. Ok have to hit the books! Wedding in 8 days!!! I love you all! Kahne and Cat 8 months email: skcx2@fnbop.com Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 11:14:57 (MDT)) Well hello there my best friends. I hope that you all are doing well today. It is still hot and very dry here so no Julianne, I did not get any of that rain down here. Nothing has made it rain here. It will rain a few minutes away from here but never here. Oh well, I guess I could have worse problems huh? I think I just find things to complain about constantly. Instead for now on I will just say what I am happy about alright. My little Dill seems to be doing so much better. He is in a lot better mood and is back to his smiling and being his happy, cute self. Taylor is being pretty good today also and she is so sweet and angelic looking. That keeps her out of SO much trouble. Blake is glad that tomorrow is Friday but I am not since it id T-Day. LOL They are all playing with Lego's right now which is nice. I love it when they can all manage to play together and not fight. Well SIL and my niece are coming to spend the night tomorrow. I am going to talk to her a little bit about what is bothering her and see if I can't help a little. I know that it is not easy because I have been there and we did work it out and are very happy now. I think that they can do the same. Divorce is the easy thing to do but to work at it and make it work is the hard thing to do but worth it in the end. Oh well, enough about my preaching today. Kahne- I bet it is hard to leave Cat behind. She is so adorable and is just a little angel. I know it is hard not to be able to rock her to sleep but just think that in the long run it is all worth it because you will be able to provide for her with everything she may want and need. Good luck on your tests and with all the studying. Dh just told me that he wants me to return to school next semester also. Dillon is scared of this doll that Taylor has that shakes its bottom and kind of talks. Rita- Maddy is big. Taylor is only 36 inches and 28 pounds. Dillon is almost caught up with her. We always have small kids in our family with the exception of Dill. We have to go out and buy Dillon all his winter and fall clothes also. So far we have about 5 outfits but a couple of those were given to us and name brands which is always great. Crystal- Darrel sounds so cute. Taylor used to scream any time that we went to the doctors office. I mean she would cry so hard and it was so sad. Luckily she has outgrown that now. I am glad that he is eating better. I will pray for your mom that everything goes alright in the surgery. Dillon always throws a fit while I am cooking, he wants that food right now and he lets me know about it. Julianne- Sounds like Colton had a wonderful time at the play place. They had one here called Discovery Zone but they recently closed it down so Dillon never got a chance to go play there. I guess he can always go to McDonald's since it is an indoor playground. Glad that it stopped raining so you all could go to the fair. We have a big fair here that last 10 days and I know that ll my kids will love it. Helen- Dillon just started backing himself off the bed and couches also and it is so cute. I always think, "What a cute and smart boy I have." I am glad that you all are situated in the new house now. Amanda sounds like a real stinker into everything like that. Kelli- Happy Birthday to DH! I am glad that everything is going well with your family. Dillon also has a ride toy at MIL's and he loves it. He gets on it and rides it around and just has a ball. Here at home he has a rocking horse and he loves to ride that also. So your little girl likes to eat huh? Sounds like Dillon again. He lives for food and baths. Missy- So you are strolling down memory lane huh? We do that sometimes and watch Blake's tape of when he was a baby. It is so cute and I see how much he looks like Dillon then. Boys will be boys??? My girl is a boy most of the time. I guess she has to be with two brothers though. I guess we all have a bunch of little pigs around here. Debbie- Good luck on the move and congrats on DH's promotion. Hey we have Dillon and Taylor in the same room and it is very interesting but they do have allot of fun playing together. I am sure that it will be alright. Sounds like a nice place to move to. Well I guess I will go for now. Gotta be at the Surgery Center at 6:30 AM so I will need to go to sleep early tonight. I appreciate you all voting on Dillon. I hope he will win but if not, I know he is really the cutest anyway. Hopefully I will talk to you all tomorrow. Beth- Glad that you are back and everything was great on vacation. Give Allison a hug and kiss for me. Cynthia- The pics of Adam were so cute and he seems like he was having a real blast in that box. Hope you all are doing alright. Tracey and my Precious Little Dill Pickle! email: battnt@mindspring.com Thursday, August 26, 1999 at 18:51:55 (MDT)) Weird!! My new computer just remembered the name and e-mail address that I always type in and finished it once I got done typing my name (like MS Word does with dates, etc) does anyone else's machine do this?? Mine at work doesn't so it kinda freaked me out when it did it here. Anyway, Allison went to the Dr. today for her 15 month check. She is in the 25% for height at 29 3/4 inches and in the 8% for weight at only 18lbs 15oz. She's so little. Can still wear size 12 month clothes at 15 months. I didn't think clothes were actually supposed to fit them at the real age that they are. EVeryone else I've always known has had kids who have been way above. I like her little. Keeps her a baby longer. Plus, she's easier to carry around. Would hate it if she was 30 lbs.. that would be a back breaker!! Well onto the personals! Kelli - hope your Dh's birthday turned out great. Wish him Happy Birthday for me! Tracey - I will be praying for you in your surgery tomorrow. I know you'll do fine and feel much better after it's done. Kahne - sneak over here anytime. Good luck with your wedding plans and school. HOw do you find the time to get on here?? I only work much less do all you do, and there would be no way I could find the time. I barely have enough as it is. Crystal - like Kelli, I'm a little perturbed by your Dr. acting like something was wrong with Darrel if he wasn't standing alone by 13 months. Allison didn't stand alone until nearly 15 months and I was told that was perfectly within normal range. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. I just can't believe your Dr. would tell you that! As if mother's don't worry enough already. Sarah (Helen) - glad you are now posting under your real name. You seem more like a Helen to me. When I picture a Helen a picture a perfect mom with the perfect children and the perfect house, etc etc. And that is always how I have pictured you. I mean this as a highest compliment. :-) Misty - be careful at your work. Sounds scary and I hope you get to move to a new office soon. Well, I must be off here. It's getting late and I am very tired. I will talk to you ladies tomorrow. He's been eating well all day. Oh, and everything is going overboard. His pillow, LPA, gloworm, stuffed animals, blankie, and diaper. Yes, he takes his diaper off and throughs it over the side of the crib. It's okay if it's just wet. If it's dirty, he goes straight in the tub and plays on the floor while I change his sheets. This morning, I left the wipes in the crib by accident. I went to get him up from his morning nap, and boy did I have a surprise. Darrel took the wipes out one by one and threw them over the side of the crib. When he was done, he threw the empty box over. The box was full earlier. I had just filled it up. Well, Darrel was cracking up as he watched me put all the wipes back in the box, one by one. And I had to refold them, too. But that's not all he's been doing. I got Darrel an activity table for his birthday, and the table comes with some blocks. My dad has a pool table. Darrel loves playing under the pool table. He's very fascinated by it. The activity table and the blocks were under the pool table. Darrel kept getting one block out at a time and putting the on a ledge under the table. Once he finished with that, he took the blocks down one at a time and put them back in his activity center. He found that he really enjoys taking things out and then putting them away. It's real cute to watch him. Darrel also has a fascination with closing doors. If he sees a door open, even if it's the refrigerator door, he wants to close it. He tried to close the refrigerator door this morning while my dad was still in it. Forget the stairs. He is so scared of stairs. Guess I don't have to worry about a child safety gate for a while. He never fell off the stairs or anything. He just doesn't like them. Maybe I didn't go up and down the stairs enough when I was pregnant? That's okay, though. I just don't have to worry about his safety around stairs right now. He's never around them anyway, unless I'm there, but that's besides the point. Darrel's not into climbing. He's just very laid-back, takes things as they come and always so happy. He's always so content, too. My friends' babies are all into climbing and going anywhere and everywhere they can. If you tell them not to go somewhere, they put on their selective hearing. If I tell Darrel "no", he starts crying, and it breaks my heart when he does. So I try to eliminate as many "no's" from my vocab as possible. Like instead of telling him "no" when he heads for the itchen while someone is cooking, I ask him where he's going. That helps some. He doesn't throw a fit and still understands that it means "no", that it's just a different way of saying it. But, sometimes, all I have to do is just say his name and he starts crying. I think that he's a sensitive young man. But no matter how sensitive he is, he's just as independant. does not want mommy to feed him. Does not want mommy to hellp with straws. He doesn't care if he spills a drink all over himself when using a straw (he tilts his head and the cup back as though he's using a sippy cup) as long as he does it by himself. I was thinking about Darrel's talking yesterday. A friend and I were actually talking about Darrel's lack of standing alone. Darrel sometimes lags a little behind his friends in some things, but as soon as he catches up, he gets ahead. Either that, or he will skip some things and then go back to them later. Darrel's talking is one thing. I have rarely ever heard Darrel say "Mama". The last time I heard Darrel say "Mama" was when he was about 8 months old. But yet, he's saying all these other words and speaing in sentences. He was the last baby in the playgroup to become vocal and, except for Walker, was also the last to start using words regularly. Now, he has the biggest vocabulary and speaks in sentences. And he can be understood about half the time. The other day, one of my friends and I took Darrel and her baby to the park. On the way there, my friend kept trying to get her daughter to say "quack, quack". Well, the little girl never did. Instead, Darrel did, and it was cllear as day and loud enough to be heard. That's it for now. I am totally exhausted, and this post is very long. So, if anyone is looking to be kept occupied for a few minutes, I hope this did it. Sorry no personals. I'll talk some more tomorrow. Oe thing before I go: Tracey- hope your surgery goes well tomorrow. I'll be praying for you. The air has been SOOOO smoky, during the day we can hardly see past the end of the property. The sky has been solid grey and white. It's so weird. Plus it's been over 90 degrees, with this smoke blanket over us. We didn't go outside yesterday, and today I was tired of being cooped up so we went to Sacramento to do some shopping and visiting. There was less smoke, but the smog was so much worse, it was actually harder to breathe. It even made me sick to my stomach, my kids just shrugged it off. I felt guilty, though. I hadn't realized that it would be so much worse in town. I heard our air quality was 250, when I think a bad smog day is usually like 100. Further north it was 350. It's just sick. I'll be thinking of you guys- Tracey, and your family, Missy, I hope things will smooth out for you and your family. Crystal and your mom's surgery. I just heard a 'wiggle' above my head, Amanda may be waking up soon.( her room is above the 'study' and I hear her jumping in her crib when she wakes.) The kids LOVED their golf lesson yesterday!!! Today's may be cancelled since its raining, they will be dissappointed! They talked me into bringing them to the driving range after golf w/their friends, when I returned they were playing mini golf- used their own $$, had finished sooner than expected and moved onto the mini golf. Then they were STARVING- so it was off to McDonalds. My brain was tired after that, they were good, lots of travelling for one day, and waiting around. Amanda played in the gravel, entertaining an elderly lady and had fun.I went to 'Penny's' to kill time, and found 2 fringed scarves, one crinkled, for the windows--$90 for $45!!!! So happy when I find good things in the clearance!!! MISSY- So sorry your having a bad day, you worried me, let us know what is going on. :o( Hope things get better!!!! Helen & Amanda Friday, August 27, 1999 at 05:30:04 (MDT)) Happy Friday to everyone from Julianne & Colton. Mine started kind of yucky. We just changed our life insurance and they require a home visit with a nurse to draw blood and get all your vitals. She drew two big vials OUCH! Colton is changing into a little Daddy's boy. Boo Hoo. DH has been working outside lately so Colton doesn't get as much play time with him and he is really missing that. He cries everytime DH leaves the house. :( We feed all our old bread and chips to the fish in our neighbor's pond. Colton will throw the food in too now. It is so cute. He knows he has to break the bread into smaller pieces. He usually hits the dog though. She tries to catch the fish--usually gets 1 or 2! I feel so guilty so I quick try to get the fish back in. Kind of hard though since I won't touch them with my hands. We are going to the dirt bike races at the fair tonight since our neighbor kids race. Colton loves to watch them. I will have to stay far away from the animal barns. I am still miserable--sneezing and itchy eyes won't go away. Tracey: Hope all is going will with your surgery today. I will be praying for a quick recovery. At least you don't have to use your voice to talk to all of us on here! I hope you were able to give your SIL some support and guidence last night. I am keeping her and your brother in my prayers. I will go and vote for Dillon as soon as I am done with my post. Beth: Good doctor check up for Allison. Colton is small too, but I see progress at each visit. I too am glad he doesn't weigh 30 pounds. I know my back couldn't take it. Missy: I will be praying for you and your family as well. Please feel free to unload any of your problems to us. This is a great support group. Crystal: Re-folding baby wipes--like folding laundry is't enough! I'm really emotional about this birthday. I'm excited that he's getting older and doing more things ... yet sad that he's going from being a baby to a toddler. It just seems like he's growing up WAY too fast and that his childhood is slipping through my fingers. I know 1 DAY doesn't make difference in my baby - it's not like he'll wake up Sunday and start talking in full sentences or anything - so I feel like I'm just being a little silly about all this. Did any of you feel this way when your little ones turned 1? I decorated Elmo cupcakes last night for a party at the sitters today. I'm making an Elmo cake tonight for the party with my in-laws tomorrow. My family lives 5+ hours away and I'm going up there next weekend for a family reunion so none of them are currently planning on coming down for Max's birthday (most of them work 6 days a week and it would be a LONG day for them to drive 10+ hours in one day plus visit ... esp. as my sisters both have little kids themselves). That might be part of the reason for this mild depression ... that my family won't be able to actually be there on Max's birthday. I guess that's the price you pay for moving so far away from home, though. I'll "see" you all on Monday! LisaB & Max (1 tomorrow) email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Friday, August 27, 1999 at 09:52:40 (MDT)) Hello again from Helen & Amanda!!!! Just a note to Lisa-- I also felt a little sad as Amanda approached her b-day, my family was not around either, my inlaws went away that weekend and one aunt showed up, one was late for the whole thing! Oh well, she didn't notice a thing. I keep watching Amanda as though she will grow up without me noticing, holding her when she falls asleep on me, just a little longer, knowing the years go by too fast and before long she will also be as big as DS&DD, the time goes by so fast without realizing until one day it hits you. I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have another baby to watch grow, they are so precious, they can't stay small forever, even though a few years would be nice-LOL!The 1st year is so filled with changes and growth that it is a little sad to see it go, but they continue to grow and change and say & do the sweetest things in the years to come that it is still one thing after another that you will beam with joy about! Happy Birthday to Max!! I'm sure it will be great!! Have a great weekend all!!! Helen&Amanda Friday, August 27, 1999 at 11:03:59 (MDT)) Good morning from Rita. Sarah g - I heard about the fires this morning. I guess even the governor made an annoucement that children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems should stay inside. We have a little bit of the haze from the fires in East Contra Costa County wafting over our area. I wonder how the opening of the Ren Faire will do this weekend with all of the haze and smoke? Tracey - Glad to hear that the procedure went okay. Get some well-deserved rest! I'm off to vote for Dillon after this. Missy - You and your family will be in our prayers. Get back to us soon and let us know how you are doing. Crystal - Your mom is in our thoughts and prayers too for her surgery on Monday. Take care everyone and have a good weekend! Rita & Maddy email: ritad@home.com Friday, August 27, 1999 at 11:06:22 (MDT)) Hi from Cathy G - Wow, what a lot of posts. I started out making some notes, but Alison woke up and I was only able to scan most of them. We are all doing well here, the weather is hot, and we are only going out in the mornings. Alison turns beet red when she's hot, and yesterday at the park a mother gave me a bad time saying that I should put sunscreen on her! Of course I told her that she is plastered with SPF 30 and that she just turns red because of the heat, but it made me mad. Alison is being really worried about seeing new people these days, she starts screaming, and clutching on to me. Very strange. I went to a creative memories party on Monday. I am now motivated to get my act together and organize all the pictures of my kids, husband, etc, and make phote albums. Have any of you been to one of these before? Tracey - I'm glad your operation went well, amazing that you are back at the computer already. I don't want you to go to jail, so don't put any books into mailboxes. I just found the Frappucinos at Costco, so I can get my fix at home. I am praying for all of your family. Julianne - add Alison to the cheese and watermelon fans, plus anything with pasta. Beth - Allison must sound so cute, with her growing vocabulary. Kahne - Both my kids got teeth after 8 months. Crystal - I agree with everyone else about the standing issue. I'm surprised the Dr. said what he did. All kids do things at their own time, and are faster at some things than other kids, slower at others. It is hard not to compare, but try not to. I'm glad Darrel's appetite is picking up. What are some of his favorite foods? With Emma, she lived on cottage cheese, ham and noodles for about 6 months. Lisa B - I am probably one of the strange moms, because I looked forward to the babies turning 1! In part because I find I worry too much about everything when they're so little, but also I find them more fun when they can walk, communicate in their own way and start to play. I am enjoying Alison so much more now than at any other time in her life, even though she is exhausting me. Kelli - I hope your DH has a great birthday. You and he sound young - my DH is turning 43 on Sep 17, and I'm 39!! (no wonder Alison exhausts me). How is Elizabeth doing? Sorry, but that's all I wrote. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Emma goes back to school on Monday, so we will have to be more structured about our routine - maybe I will be able to post more than once a month. Cathy G and Alison (13 months tomorrow) email: davidalan.pratt@sympatico.ca Friday, August 27, 1999 at 13:09:38 (MDT)) Hey everyone! Well, it's Friday! Yippy! Even though I don't work out of the home I still live for the weekends to spend with DH and daughter as a family! Plus, it's kinda nice to have DH around all day to help out. Yesterday was DH's 30th birthday! I got him a shirt and shorts and Eternity Cologne and aftershave. In the box w/ the cologne were samples of Eternity Face wash, scrub and moisturizer. Okay... if you knew my DH, you would know that he's not a primper and is very low-maintenance. But last night he used those trial size wash, scrub and lotion. In his words, "It took me 15 d**n minutes to get ready for bed and now I have a sweet aroma that I can't get rid of and that's about to give me a headache. How do you women do this every night?" I had to laugh. He loved the cologne though. Elizabeth is doing great. She's beginning to take shorter naps now. She used to take 3 1/2 hr. naps when she was about 9 to 11 months old. Now we are down to about an 1 1/2 to 2 hours naps. I really enjoyed those long naps! Oh well. I guess she's afraid she will miss something. Helen & Amanda, Yeah for Amanda sleeping so well at night! I hope it continues. Good for you for finding those window treatments at a reasonable price! Julianne & Colton, I don't give Elizabeth vitamins either. I asked her dr. about it several times and he thinks that she's doing great and eating well so she doesn't really need them. I do give ELizabeth Gerber Oatmeal Cereal and that gives her alot of what she needs. She's a great well-balance eater so I am not worried. I'm glad you had a great day on Wed. despite the rain! Yuck for having to start your day out by getting blood taken! Hope you have a good weekend! Crystal, Well... girl... here is what I think: I don't think you should look at other children and compare them with Darrell. Each child is so individual and grows at different rates that NO ONE should look at other children and say, "hey, my child isn't doing that" OR "Boy, my kid has been doing that for months now". It sounds like to me that you are looking at your friends child and wonder why Darrell isn't doing things that this other child is. I will tell you why: Darrell isn't that child!!! Darrell is so special in his own ways and you should cherish that and live each day feeling proud of your son! Okay... my advice to you: Sit down, relax, and enjoy parenting! I hope you have a good weekend and I hope Darrell eats better for you. ALSO... I know it's common for some children not to have much of an appetite at this age because there is so much to explore and he's too busy to eat. I understand why you are worried though... that's our job as mom's... to worry! :) RIta, we just went fall-winter shopping for Elizabeth and you are right: it's expensive. I found some really cute things though and about 10 to 12 different outfits for under a hundred bucks! Good luck! Tracey, I am thinking about you! I hope you get to feeling better! Did your DH stay home with you today? I have voted for Dillon about 10 times today. I figured out that you have to log off to vote again. I hope things smooth over with your Brother & SIL! Beth, Our MS WORD does the same thing yours does. It will also put in the date, time and day of the week too. Cool, huh? I bet yours does alot of really neat things since it's newer. Allison is small... about the same exact size of Elizabeth. I have a growth chart hanging on ELizabeth's wall and I measure her once a month. At 13 months, she was 29 3/4 inches tall. I am guessing she weighs about 19 1/2 to 20 pounds. She was 19 pounds at 12 months. Elizabeth wears mostly 12 months, but she can still wear some of her 6 to 9 month outfits. Hey... better things come in smaller packages, right?!! Missy, You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! Come back soon and let us know that you are okay! Also, you should know that if you need to "type" about it, you have our support! SarahG, that is so terrible about the fires! Glad you aren't in the middle of them! LisaB, I can totally relate to having no family for Max's party!! For Elizabeth's b-day party there were 3 people there: ME, DH and ELizabeth!!! Our closest family lives 12 hours away and that is My MIL!! My mom, stepdad & sister is a 3 hour plane ride away. Just make the best of it... Enjoy it and don't worry about it! It was hard for us not to have a big party, but it was very special and we enjoyed every minute of it. (Except for the few minutes I spent bawling my eyes out because my baby is a year old!)LOL! See you here sooN! Kelli and Elizabeth, 13 1/2 months email: rkncs@aol.com Friday, August 27, 1999 at 13:16:50 (MDT)) CathyG, you must have been posting at the same time as I was. Yes, I would have been MAD at that mother in the park too. I guess other mothers know more about our kids than we do, huh! Some people! I have been to a creative memory party too! I would LOVE to make a couple albums of Elizabeth for MIL and my mom for Christmas, but It was too expensive for me to do exaclty what I wanted to for 2 albums. Maybe one day. Have fun with it... I know I would! A good thing about Creative Memory albums is that you can enjoy them forever! Kelli... again! Friday, August 27, 1999 at 13:29:14 (MDT)) Crystal and darrel here after a busy day. I took Darrel to WalMart to get his 12 month pictures taken. They turned out so well. He lloves the camera very much and is a total ham in front of it. Last time, he just kept posing for pictures even after the session was over. He's a camera hog. Well, I got the disk and will have my dad help me send pictures out. Okay, everyone is telling me that I have nothing to worry about with Darrel not standing or walking. I know he has another 6 months before I need to worry about his not walking, seeing as how that's on the far end of "normal". I'm not too worried about it even though I want him to start walking. It's the lack of standing alone that I'm more worried about. I worry about it mostly because Darrel is 12 months old and not standing. I don't know the normal range for this. I've always thought that he should be by now. If I knew the "normal" range for standing alone and knew that Darrel had a few more months, then I wouldn't be so worried. I know that Darrel will stand and walk when he's ready, but if something happens to be wrong with him, I'd like to find out sooner than later. That would make any problem easier to be taken care of. Maybe he has poor muscle tone. Maybe he's just scared. Maybe he's not ready emotionally. Maybe one leg is longer than the other. There are so many possibilities that can cause a young child to not stand. But if your child isn't standing and all of your friends' babies are, it's hard to not worry, especially if your child is the oldest of the five. I hope that some one can at least see where I'm coming from. That's why the dr. wants me to bring Darrel back next month if he's not standing--to either find out what's wrong, if anything, and to put my mind at rest. If I knew there wasn't anything wrong, then I wouldn't worry. If I knew the average range of age for a child to stand, I wouldn't worry, depending on the range. But in the books I've seen, it doesn't give a range for unassisted standing. I've always seen ages for walking. I know that the normal for walking is 9-18 months. So, obviously, Darrel should be able to stand alone before he can walk alone, and if he's to walk by 18 months, then he should be standing before then. That's enough on that subject. If anyone can supply me with the "noormal" age range, it will be greatly appreciated. I'll talk some more later. I can't believe it. Sarah, AKA Helen, I loved your statements to LisaB. That is exactly how I feel as well. I am happy, but sad, all at the same time. I recognize almost all of your names and am excited about catching up on all of your lives. Of course I couldn't read all the posts, but promise I will keep up after today. I started back to school and that is going so-so. Jarin is miserable, cranky all the time. I'm not sure if he is still sick or if it is just the strain of so much change. He is crying at my leg right now, so I'd better cut this short. **Hi to all my old BT friends - Kelli, Beth, Tracey, Debbie, Rita, Crystal, Sarah (Helen), Julianne, CathyG (I always wondered where you went!) and Cynthia. I hope I didn't miss anyone!! I'll chat more with all of you soon. Patty and Jarin - one year old today! email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Friday, August 27, 1999 at 20:44:24 (MDT)) Oops! And Hi to Stacey, Judy, and Becky too. Can't wait to talk to you all again. Patty Friday, August 27, 1999 at 20:50:33 (MDT)) Crystal here. Darrel now has his normal appetite back. My dad said that he'll try to figure out the pictures and then e-mail them to me so that I can send them out. I'm keeping my fingers crosssed that they will be openable. My dad has sent pictures before, so hopefully it will work. Patty: Happy Birthday to Jarin. LisaB: Happy birthday to Max. Well, that's it for now. Crystal and Darrel 12 months email: cjeanmurphy@yahoo.com Saturday, August 28, 1999 at 08:19:31 (MDT)) YES! I DID IT! I FIGURED OUT HOW TO E-MAIL PICTURES. I can only do one at a time, but that's a start. I am so happy. I'll be sending pictures to everyone I have an e-mail address to. If you don't post your address and would like a picture, please e-mail me and I'll send yu one. I am so excited, especially since I figured it out on my own. These are the most recent pictures I have. They werre taken yesterday around noon, so they should be fairly recent. Well, that's it for now. Just thought I'd let everyone know that I will be sending out pictures of Darrel within the next hour. I'm going over to BT to get a few more addresses to send pictures to. Talk more later. Crystal and Darrel email: cjeanmurphy@yahoo.com Saturday, August 28, 1999 at 09:54:18 (MDT)) Hi from Cathy! I am having quiet afternoon - DH is out, Emma is at a birthday, and Alison is asleep, for now. It is quite hot, so I will be taking it easy indoors. Crystal - I don't think unassisted standing is a generally recognized milestone, so that's why it isn't in the books. Alison has been walking for a short while, so this is quite fresh in my memory. She didn't really figure out how to stand by herself until the same time she figured out about walking. At first, she was on her tippy-toes, and therefore she couldn't take more than a few steps without falling. Then when she got the hang of going flat on her feet, she got the walking and could stand too. So I think the 2 really go hand in hand. I understand that it is hard not to worry, and hopefully your doctor will help you to put your mind at ease. I hope these thoughts help! Patty - Happy birthday to Jarin. I have just joined this board a little while ago - things just got to hectic to keep up with Babies today, so I am trying again. Good luck at school. I can relate to the clinging - Alison has started attaching herself to my legs lately whenever she sees someone she doesn't know. Missy - We haven't "talked" yet, but your post made me sad. I am thinking about you and hope all is well. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Bye CathyG and Alison (13 months today) email: davidalan.pratt@sympatico.ca Saturday, August 28, 1999 at 11:24:17 (MDT)) Hi mommies. Just popping in again, because I can now that my baby is a toddler. LOL **CathyG: Glad to hear Jarin isn't the only clingy baby. And I totally agree, BT got way too hectic. I'm excited about this site and hope it doesn't take me so long to get caught up each day. **Crystal: Got the picture of Darrel. What a little doll. I love all the blonde hair. **Jarin is still being quite the whiner today. Party is tomorrow and check up at the doctor on Monday. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe his ear infections haven't healed completely. I also get to find out how much he's grown, although I know it isn't much. He is so tiny. I hope he starts growing soon. I don't want him to end up only being a five foot tall man! (And no, I'm really not exaggerating. It's starting to make me alittle nervous.) Bye!
