Toddlers Today's MomsTalk Archive I just tucked Jarin in for the night. I'm trying to slowly wean him from the nightly nursings. Then I'll just have the morning and naptime ones. Anyway, I let him nurse for 3 1/2 minutes per side and then I just sit and rock with him for about five minutes. Now that he isn't falling asleep nursing, he just stares up at me. Then he puts his one hand over his eyes and pulls his fingers apart so he is peeking at me with one eye. Then he just giggles at me. It is so cute and I try to just be real quiet so he knows it's quiet time, but I always have to laugh at him. =) **Michelle: No, I still can't get on the chat and I REALLY miss talking to you guys!! DH has tried everything the resident expert at the police post has told him to. I don't know what is wrong with our computer, but hopefully we'll figure it out soon. I miss laughing hysterically every Saturday night. =) **Julianne: Sorry to hear Colton is being a bully. I'm sure he is just trying to adjust to all of the new kids. Hope everything works out ok with Tequila. Jarin's very favorite thing to do when he was just crawling was to get into my cupboard with my monthly stuff, pull all of the pads out of the box and then throw them around. Of course, I already got his blackmail pictures. heehee. DH, of course, was mortified. That is so cute that Colton wanted to crawl into bed with daddy. Jarin has just now started yelling "Daey" when Tom comes home from work. He never really used to do anything, so I know that it makes DH happy. Sorry, but I was LOL at Colton crying for a fourth paci!! And, I don't think I will EVER be happy to see a spider! **Alice: Gees, Louise, girl! What a freaky dream. Glad last night was better. No advice here - I hate scary dreams though. I'm always attaching myself to dH when I have them too. Thanks for the compliments on my family. The big age difference, well, are you ready for a novel? LOL. I had Jaime when I was 17, got pregnant in high school, had her in Sept of my Senior year. Her dad and I got married when I graduated, were married 2 years 9 months and 12 days (not counting, LOL) and then separated and divorced. I started dating DH 4 days after our divorce and we were married a year later. Jesse was born when we'd been married for 3 years, definitely planned after some time to be together (with Jaime too, of course.) Then we kept talking about having another one, but when Jesse was little we were having so much fun with him that we couldn't imagine not spending all of our time playing with him. Anyway, then we decided to get pg again and it took us a year this time. Then came Jarin! So, there, my dear, is the story of my life. Were you thrilled by it? LOL. I am very proud of my family and love them very much, even though parenting a teenager is definitely the most stressful thing I've ever done!!! We do have a toddler bed for Jarin, it used to be Jesse's, but I'm just not ready for that yet. I'm with you - I think I'll leave him in the crib as long as he'll stay there. We built a new house 3 years ago and NO BASEMENT! We had one in our old house and I didn't like going down there either - especially at night. **Theressa: Good to see you back here again. I'll have to go check out your site. I forgot to do it last time, so this time I'll definitely remember. =) LOL at Marcus saying butt, butt over and over again. Jarin loves to be naked and as soon as I take off his clothes, he starts running around saying , "nakie, nakie". He sounds just like the Rugrats, but he's never seen that so I don't know where he got it. **Sarah: I love to stay up late too, but I agree, getting up the next morning is the worst. And by the way, it was 64 and sunny today and tomorrow is supposed to be 69 and sunny! Yay!!! LOL at Hannah with the pictures. I think they love to look at all the people they know the best. **LisaB: That is so sweet that Max was concerned about the teacher lady. Those stories about what the guys did to the pregnant women were awful!! I also tried to see your link on the site Michelle made for us and the same thing happened to me. I was going to mention it earlier, but forgot. Yep, Jarin's favorite word has to be "Jess". (You know, his hero. ) **Hayley: Hope you feel better for tonight to enjoy DH's birthday. LOL at you asking Michelle if it was "none of your damn business". I was cracking up at that! **Meg: I got Jarin a Barney toothbrush and he LOVES to brush his own teeth. Usually I just let him play with the toothbrush and then he will let me "brush" his teeth (for all of 2 seconds, but hey, it's better than nothing, right?) **Tara: Good luck with deciding what to do with your delivery. I have a friend who had a C-section with her first and tried to decide what to do with her second. She ended up being able to have VBAC and she said she couldn't believe how much better she felt afterward and how much more quickly she healed and had her energy back. Just a thought for you. =) **Rita: I can't believe you can work out in the morning. I'm lucky to have enough energy to get my butt out of bed and into the shower, let alone exercise! **Take care everyone. Night! Well, some of you asked about the new house so I'll just take a moment to gush (keep in mind we moved from a tiny dingy 2 bedroom that was on a very busy road). This place seems so huge. We have an entire bedroom that's empty (possibly a nursery for next year) and a utility room that has so many possibilities. Paige loves it. Not only are there stairs to climb up and down (we've already had our first tumble) but there's a small yard and tons of kids. Almost every townhouse has children (there's just over 100 units!). We're right across the street from shopping and very close to transit. I am trying to get used to the lifestyle here. It's so laid back and I've spent the last few years in the heart of the city. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed, but nothing major and for a 20+ building, I'm very impressed. We will likely live here until we can buy out own home. Now I just need to finish unpacking! LOL Paige has been sick for the last week. She had a mysterious fever that spiked Wednesday night. We took her to emergency. After 3 hours and a couple of tests the dr said he couldn't find a cause for it but that she may develope a rash in the next couple of days. When she woke up in the morning she was fine. Isn't that always the way! I still need to a find a dr here, an hour commute is too far when Paige is sick and the local walk-in clinic isn't all that great. Well, it's after midnight and I promised dh he could sleep in tomorrow so I should say goodnight. Hugs and Kisses to all of you! DH had a softball game last night so HANNAH and I went to it. She had a BLAST!!! She kept yelling "HI DADDA" and "HI AIRPLANE", and "BABEEE!!!", and "DOGGIE". She had everyone at the park cracking up!!!!! I mean she was yelling these things at the top of her lungs. SOOO cute! :) LISA - Cute story about MAX looking out the window. HAYLEY - How was your night out? MEG - The way I get her to brush her teeth is to do it myself first and then let her do it. If she throws a fit when I'm trying to do it (because she does alot), I tell her we're going to put the toothbrush away. That makes her stop, because she wants to do it too. Hope that makes sense and helps. Another thing I used to do was say "Let's show LaaLaa (her favorite) how we brush our teeth". TARA - Good luck with whatever you choose. RITA - When are you coming?? Where are you staying?? I would LOVE to get together as long as our schedules connect. JULIANNE - Well yes, you caught me!! I definitely had a naughty streak when I was little...and it lasted until I was about 26 years old!!! LOL ALICE - I've lived here all of my life, and love it here. It was a TERRIBLE thing that happened though!! The anniversary is coming up, so there's alot of things going on here right now. My DH often works until 3am, so I know the feeling!! We had a good time the other night! It actually wasn't too bad. I went out about 5pm and was home by 9:30. Believe me, I'd write forever and ever if I told you about all of the goofy stuff HANNAH does!! LOL You are a crack up not going in the basement to do laundry. Well, I shouldn't make fun of you....I'm the same way. It was funny what you wrote about what's down there at night is down there during the day too. On the night's I'm home alone, I always think "something's" gonna get me...but only when I go to bed. Well, if "something's" gonna get me, it's gonna get me if I'm up or in bed. I'm a WEIRDO!!!!! LOL :) Sounds like you and I are alot alike! PATTY - YEA for JESSE and JAIME!!! That's awesome!!! Well ladies, gotta do some work. I'll try and get on later. If not, I hope you all have a great weekend!! I'm gonna try and get on the chat tomorrow night! :) Sarah and Hannah (19 months) email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Friday, April 14, 2000 at 11:32:13 (EDT)) Hey ladies! Very quick selfish post today to let you guys know that we are still alive. Allison is doing great and talking up a storm still. We’ve had two more incidents of her wanting to wear Daddy’s shirt to the sitter’s luckily she didn’t pick out beer shirts this time!! I had a minor incident the other day while playing softball. I was SUPPOSED to be just keeping the score book, but then the girl playing 2nd base got hit in the face (broke her jaw, has to have it wired shut for 4 – 6 weeks) so I had to go in for her. Well, on the VERY NEXT PLAY, DH threw the ball to 2nd for me to make a play and BIL who was on shortstop tried to cover 2nd as well as me. He got there a split second before me and missed the ball. It tipped off the end of his glove right into my mouth. Blood immediately started spouting everywhere. I ended up getting 5 stiches in my upper lip as we couldn’t ever really stop the bleeding and I was a bit afraid that I might end up with a really nasty looking scar if I didn’t get something done. Luckily SIL and her boyfriend had come into town to watch us play and they stayed at our house with Allison while we went to the emergency room. Needless to say I am looking pretty beautiful right now! Well, sorry no personals, I’ve been reading this week, but just haven’t had time to compose a big post! Welcome to Charline and Hayden! Good to have you guys on “the other side” Can’t believe it’s been a year already! Talk to the rest of you ladies later! Have a great weekend! Beth and Allison (22 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Friday, April 14, 2000 at 12:06:42 (EDT)) Hi moms from Sue and Cam. Sorry I didn't have too much time to scan the posts - work has been a zoo! Figures that I have spring fever and don't feel like doing a thing, but the pace at the office has picked up. Bummer! Brought Cameron for his 15-month checkup on Wednesday. He weighs 25 lb., 9 oz., is 31 3/4 inches tall and is on track for his milestones. The poor thing also has a giant ear infection. I thought he was just still feeling a little funky from the stomach bug he had last weekend, but guess it was more than that! He seems to have bounced back quick, but decided to share his nasty cold with me. What a great kid, eh? (the "eh" was for the Canadians in our bunch!). I took the rest of the day off and had a blast with Cam. We played outside in the afternoon, and he did something I just thought was amazing. He was dragging a little stick along behind him and the cat started to chase it. Cam really got the concept of playing with the cat, and was "sweeping" the stick back and forth in the grass and laughing hysterically as the cat tried to catch it. Then he put the stick up in the air so the cat had to jump for it and he laughed so hard he knocked himself over. I did get a few minutes on tape, but was laughing so hard myself my eyes were watering. He's just tooo cute. Have to run out at lunch later and see if I can pick up a couple of short-sleeved shirts for him. Supposed to be in the 70s over the weekend and I don't have any warmer weather clothes for him. CHARLINE - hey girl! Can't believe Hayden's a year old. At the pediatrician's office on Wednesday, I was getting Cam off the scale just as a new mom was bringing her 2 week old over. I could barely even remember Cam being so small! MICHELLE - I was so proud of myself for setting the VCR to tape your big TV debut, but somehow managed to record a rerun of The Andy Griffith Show and some other dumb show instead. So much for all my technical expertise! PATTY - until you mentioned that maybe my PPD was causing me to be so annoyed with DH, I hadn't really thought of it. Now though, I think you may be right because I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately and have been getting tension headaches right and left. Thanks! I think I'll give my doc a buzz. Okay, gotta go and get some stuff out of the way before the weekend. Hoping to get my perennial garden in order this weekend. It needs a total overhaul since I didn't have time to tend to it last year with Cam being so little and didn't have the energy the year before when I was pg. Hope ya'll have FANTASTIC weekends (here in MA, Monday is a holiday, "Patriot's Day," so I even get a three day weekend)- Woo Hoo! Smiles to all! I was on my way to put Liam down for a nap yesterday, carrying him cause he was tired. Well going over the gate that is acroos the doorway to his room, I tripped and dropped him!!! He hit his head and twisted his leg and I feel so bad!! He's better today, but favoring his leg a little which is frustrating for him because he such an active little guy. I felt so bad that when he woke up at 2 this morning wanting out, I stayed up with him for a couple of hours out of guilt. No time for personals, cleaning house, hope everyone is well. My name is Jamie, I am new here, but have spent quite a while reading this board and trying to decide if I have the time and courage to try and keep up! I am 21 years old, my DH is 22, we have been married 2 years, but have kown each other since we were 12. We are both students (me part-time, him full-time) and have a 14 month old son named Gabriel. He is very active (everyone who is ever around him eventually asks me, "does he ever stop?") but has focused more on motor skills than on his vocabulary. He says Da-da (all the time!), sometimes mama, and every dog is Car-car, because of my moms dog, Carly. I cant wait until he says something other than Car-car! (he says it loudly and often, usually followed by a woof) I hope to be able to keep up, and enjoy this board as much as all of you seem to. Talk to you Later, Jamie and Gabe - 14 months Jamie email: zeppelin2@msn.com Friday, April 14, 2000 at 15:15:07 (EDT)) Hi from LisaB. I came to work early yesterday and got home late - only got about 90 minutes with Max. Then I had to leave early again this morning. I can't wait until 4:30 so I can go pick him up and spend some "quality" time together!!!! DH is gone tonight and until late tomorrow so poor little Max is going to be all confused - never having mommy and daddy around at the same time. They are predicting rain on Sunday so maybe we'll spend some family time together inside! HAYLEY: Sorry you've been so sick. MEG: Gosh, your family and in-laws are ALL over the world, aren't they? Do they get to see you guys and Hana very often? Before Max would use a toothbrush we would wipe his teeth off with a wet wash cloth and then let him play with it (chewing, etc.) to clean his teeth. SHELLY: I'm glad Riley likes his truck again!!! JULIANNE: Colton just wanted to snuggle with daddy, huh?! ALICE: The "bribe" mobile - LOL!!! Max tends to drive his little truck backwards, in ever widening circles!!! A bad m/s episode this week but I'm doing ok other than that. Max has no clue about the baby yet!! I had an OB appointment today. Everything looks good. I get another u/s at 8-9 months to check on my placenta previa - until then NO restrictions unless I encounter problems. PATTY: YEAH on your smart kids. Jarin sounds adorable peeking out at you - LOL!!! Best of luck with the gradual weaning. It was 70 here yesterday and is supposed to hit 80 today - YEAH!! REBECCA: The new place sounds great. I'm glad Paige appears to have recovered from her mysterious illness. SARAH: Hannah sounds adorable at the ball game!!! Your naughtly streak has gone away? Are you SURE about that - LOL!!!! BETH: Sorry to hear about your banged up lip. Did it scare Allison at all? Has she tried to pull on your stitches? SUE: Cam sounds smart and adorable, playing with the cat!!! KATY: You are NOT a bad mom. I too probably would have felt bad, though, and stayed up with him also!! JAMIE: Welcome!!! Don't worry if you can't keep up here … just post whenever you can. I'm 33 and DH is 36. Our son Max is 19 months old and we are due again in early-mid March (it appears to be another boy). Max also only a few words he says consistently - he's too busy to stop and talk!!!! Amanda is napping so I thought I would check in on you all. :O) DH makes me nuts- keeps popping in and out all day long to get lunch, coffee, faxes, copying etc.. and I keep having to getting off here- He would think I was SERIOUSLY sick w/my imaginary friends---LOL!!!! Michelle- you did a great job on the show- so did DH- looked so natural and relaxed! I would have died! LisaB-- MEG----- Yes , I agree no place is safe anymore-- I just bought a magazine 'Boston' and it lists the best places to live and the 'stats' on each town in the greater Boston area- some towns serious crime rate was in the triple didgets- ours in the single- under 10------ pretty safe I guess. Meg- there must be something like what I mentioned above for people re-locating- that way you get an objective opinion and can choose the house prices- school quality.. etc... OK- enough on giving 'moving ' advice- good luck on wherever you choose!!! :O) :O) Julianne-- hope Colton is getting along w/the new kids @DC. Hope your dog is doing well. :O( ctually 2-250 sounds reasonable--- vets are not cheap--- we also realized it when we were highly advised to have tests and x-rays done on our dog- they said it was a disease in his neck vertebraes(sp??)and needed an op. in a month or two and would be crippled without it very soon-- that was $300+ dollars and 4yrs ago- go figure. ( oh the op. would be 2-3 thousand!!) Patty- Jarin sounds so cute pointing out everyone- Amanda sees motorcycle pics and yells DADDEE --and screams baby when pics --- of course she gets louder and louder when we don't answer!!!!!!Sound familiar SARAH????????Oh the sales you found were great-- I just love sales-- and shopping for that matter!!! Theressa- I will have to check-out your site- congrats on finishing it. Shelly-- great- the home schooling is going well!!!! Rebecca-- Glad your back-- the place sounds perfect w/the shopping nearby, kids, all the room in the house-- thats great!!! AJ was a little "Ham" today. I went home for lunch and he was finishing his soup. "I done". Got him off his high chair, so I started to eat my enchiladas (Yum) and guess who wanted to eat again! He about ate all my food, and when the plate was empty he wanted more! I told him "all gone". Tay (OKAY) and got off my lap. I course I was still hungry! I have a progressive dinner tomorrow night with this service group that I belong to. DH is not a socialite. And he does not want to go. I don't want to go stag. I know what he will "want" in return!!LOL Have a good weekend. I was so glad there was nothing broken. Dr. said Liam won't be walking for three to four days so his ankle can heal. Poor little guy!! But I'm just so happy that he didn't break or fracture anything. Katy and Liam email: princess__bride@hotmail.com Friday, April 14, 2000 at 19:39:24 (EDT)) hi, personals first - oh, it's Michelle. Alice - I made a mistake in my message - I meant that BC was warmest and on the West coast but worded it wrong I guess. Is Ontario warmer in the winter? Don't you get lots of snow? Sue - So sorry you missed the show. How was Andy Griffith? lol. I do that all the time. I sit down on the couch to watch my taped shows with my coke and snack and get so dissapointed when the tape plays something dumb instead of my good shows. lol Hey - I'm having really bad tension (I think) headaches also. Let me know if your Dr. does anything for yours if you go to see him ok? I'm taking Tylenol but it does absolutely nothing for me most of the time. My dr. sent me for x-rays but I'm sure nothing will turn up. HELEN - Watcha dooin with the bark in the driveway? LISA B So sorry about your link! I'll fix it soon ok? I've been doing a very bad job of keeping up with the website. I had very good intentions though!!! How's baby doing? HALEY - It was a PPD support group with other women - no, you're not being nosy. I'm ok with talking about it now... OBVIOUSLY!! lol MEG - A tv star? me? lol I am not! Not much new here - dh and I are going to see the movie 28 days tonight. I hope it will be good! I definately could use a night out! I've been so tired lately - and headaches. Just kind of blah you know? Evan and Riley have been a real handful. They are starting to play together more often but of course that leads to the fighting too! It's fun to watch them interact together. Riley just does whatever Evan tells him to do and Evan squats down beside him and says "good boy wow, good boy" in this motherly voice. lol. Anyways - I should go. OH - I went shopping. How could I forget to tell you that? I bought a new Winnie the pooh jean vest from the Disney Store and a yellow "pooh" T shirt. Also some light cotton pajama pants with pooh on them. Yes - I'm a pooh fan. lol. Bye for now! Michelle and the boys email: mwells@telusplanet.net Friday, April 14, 2000 at 19:44:41 (EDT)) Hi mommies. I had the day from hell at school. My aide was sick and my kids were maniacs in the disguise of Kindergarten children! I was so stressed out and I am SO GLAD it's FRIDAY! Do you agree, Sarah? Thank goodness Jarin is being a sweetheart today. =) We took a walk tonight and I put his sunglasses on him for the first time since we bought them. He actually left them on the whole time. It was so adorable. I finally got new pictures developed - the ones of Jesse and Jarin playing ball and reading . I will scan them to those of you who I have addresses for. If you want them and don't get them, let me know. I'll be happy to send them to you as I am quite the proud mommy. If you get them and you don't want them, just delete them. LOL **Rebecca: that's great that you and your family love the new house so much. I'm sure Paige is having a ball on the stairs. Jarin also loves the stairs in our house although they have lost some of the novelty since he's been able to climb them for a while. =) I bet you love being so close to everything. Sorry to hear that Paige was sick. I hope she stays healthy now. **Sarah: I'm sure Hannah was the hit of the ball game. =) Don't you just love it when everyone around is smiling and laughing with your little one? It makes me just want to smile and say, "Yeah, he's mine. Isn't he the best?" LOL **Beth: OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! Yikes, girl, I thought about playing softball with my sister on a team, but you're making me think twice about it! Glad to hear Allison is doing well. I hope your lip heals and you feel better! **Sue: I could totally picture Cam waving the stick back and forth and laughing. That will be such an adorable video. Those are the priceless moments I think all of us moms live for. =) Way too cute. Glad I could help with the annoying DH. heehee. You know what I mean. I just thought of it because every time I start having trouble, my dH is the first person to annoy the crap out of me. LOL Enjoy your three day weekend! I am sooooo jealous! **Katy: Sorry to hear about your accident with Liam. I know we all feel terrible when we do stuff like that, but I also know you certainly are NOT the only one who's done something like that. I think we've all been there. I just read about his sprained ankle. Poor thing. I'm glad nothing was broken. **Jamie and Gabe: Welcome! **LisaB: Hope you all get to spend some family time together this weekend. 80? That sounds beautiful. I'm not complaining today though - it was 70 and sunny and gorgeous! Tomorrow is supposed to be 70 and partly sunny. **Helen: So DH doesn't let you have imaginary friends, huh? What's wrong with him? LOL I love sales too. There is nothing better than finding a great bargain. =) LOL at Amanda yelling Daddy when she sees a motorcycle. =) Have fun spreading that mulch. **Theressa: I checked out your site. Very nice!! **Moe: Good luck getting DH to go to the progressive dinner. **Michelle: I also have absolutely NO LUCK with Tylenol when I get headaches. You sound like me with your Pooh clothes. I swear half of my wardrobe has Winnie the Pooh somewhere on it. =) Too cute that Evan tells Riley "good boy". Sounds like Jesse talking to Jarin. They're in jesse's room right now playing and listening to Jesse's music. So cute. **Take care all of you! Patty and Jarin - 19 1/2 months email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Friday, April 14, 2000 at 22:26:01 (EDT)) Hi Everyone from Alice, Nathan is sleeping and DH is gone to work so I thought it was a good time to post. This is my first night alone since the scary dream so wish me luck, okay just to freak you guys out even more about the weird dream, remember I said I was trying to scream, well yesterday I had a very sore throat all day and today I can't talk lost my voice. Can your phsycy(spelling?) be that powerful, I don't know just a thought. Nathan got to ride his new bike today, he was sooo cute with the training wheels and his little helmet on, he had so much fun, but we had a little accident he was having so much fun he forgot he had to go to the bathroom and had a BM in his underwear, so he screamed his little head off when I told him he had to come inside to take a bath, see Sarah your little Hannah isn't the only actor we have here, the way Nathan was going on you'd swear to GOD I just cut off his right arm. DH and my theory on having accidents in the underwear(it may be extreme but I believe in it and I think it works) if he makes the mess he has to clean it, yep that's right, I figure he can't like cleaning those poopy underwear so he might think twice about doing it next time. Oh, I almost forgot we took Nathan to the petting zoo tonight, it was funny, he was calling the Llama a chicken, I don't know they don't look anything alike, he thought the sheep were pigs, we live in the city and don't see too many farm animals around here. So we bought some food so that he could feed the animals and he didn't like that tooo much, thought that they were trying to bite him, he had fun though. It's funny to watch him be soo apprehensive about touching then when he finally does he jumps back and laughs like he just made the biggest accomplishment of his life. Rebecca - when we first moved into our house I was terrified of the stairs as Nathan had just turned 2, at first I put a gate up, but he is a little climber, so I was in fear of him trying to climb over the gate and falling down the stairs. So what I did was teach him to go down the stairs on his bum, and he still does. Patty - we are trying for number 2 right now and I think that will be it, if I leave it up to DH, but anyways I probably would prefer a girl, just so I can have one of each, but when you talk about Jesse and Jarin it really makes me want to have another boy, you are so lucky that they are so close and love each other so much. Ha, Ha, now I can brag about the weather up here in Canada, funny that on Wednesday it snowed, today it was 20celcius, I think that is about 70 F, anyways it was BEAUTIFUL,just in time for the weekend. Thanx for making me not feel so bad about my posts, it's nice to see someone else who likes to write novels. lol. I want pics please - with the sunglasses on! Sarah - all I can say is 2 things, how cute that Hannah is not shy to express herself sounds so much like Nathan, and now that she is expressing herself Mommy and Daddy better watch what they say around her, believe me I know. Nathan has said a few choice words I wished he wouldn't have, thankfully not in Public just around family. His new favourite thing to do is walk around saying Jesus and just repeating the word, well how do you think people in the grocery store would react to that I'll tell you they will give me a dirty look probably, they don't know that Daddy has been reading the Bible to Nathan, so he is just facinated with the word, Sheldon tries to explain to Nathan about taking the Lords Name in Vain, I tell him Sheldon he doesn't understand just leave him, at least he's not saying the F word. LOL You guys just wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah I especially like the part about your naughty streak until 26 how old are you now 26 1/2 LOL Beth - OMG ALL I CAN SAY IS OOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! Take it easy girl. Sue - very funny about the eh for us Canadians, lol. Sorry to be so stupid what's patriot's day, for war vets? If that's what it is we don't get the holiday here, it's called Rememberance day and only Government employees get the holiday, how fair is that. Katy - Oh, I feel so bad for you, don't worry about it too much I'm sure all of us Mommy's have a story similar to yours, I fell down a flight of stairs with Nathan in my arms when he was only months old, I'm sure Liam will be just fine. Don't beat yourself up about it. Jamie and Gabe - Welcome! A forwarning this board is addicting. I'm 33 and DH is 30, we have one child Nathan he is almost 3, a little old for tt but I love it here and I'm not leaving. Oh yea and we are Canadian, one of the few on tt. Lisa - I guess the circle thing is what they all do! All I know is it makes me dizzy to watch. lol Help me out here, m/s episode? I'm glad your app't went well and enjoy yourself, with NO restrictions. Michelle - I was just teasing you about the warmest place in Canada. We didn't get very much snow this year prob. one good snowfall in Jan. that was about it, had some really cold weather last couple of weeks though, some disturbance coming up from the States, just kidding, LOL, but it has been pretty nice last couple of days. The movie 28 days, never heard of it, is it a new release? Okay that's it for tonight, take care everyone, talk to you tomorrow! Alice & Nathan email: alicita@idirect.ca Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 00:22:45 (EDT)) Well, we have managed to completely mess up Colton's bedtime! Daycare just wears him out so much that he falls asleep on the way home. Yesterday he slept until 7:30 and today to after 8pm. Then it takes until after 10pm to get him to bed. I even tried to wake him up a couple of times but he just swatted my hand away, rolled over and was back to sleep before I knew it! Alice: Yeah for a good night's sleep. Patty: Great report cards--proud mom moment. Too cute about the night time peek-a-boos. Good thing it's the weekend after having such a rough day. Colton's giggles are my stress releavers. Rebecca: The new townhouse sounds great. Glad Paige is OK--hate those mystery illnesses. Hope you find a closer dr. Sarah: Hannah sure had fun at the game. Good entertainment for the other spectators. She will have plenty of people doting on her this summer. Beth: OUCH, you poor thing. That's why I hate baseball & softball. I was sooooo happy to get cut from the softball team in school. Sue: Sorry Cam got you sick, seems to happen often as a mom. Great check-up! How fun watching him with the cat--so cute to see their brains working like that. Katy: Not fun when mommy causes a boo-boo. We have all done it though. Hope his ankle sprain heals quickly. How do you get Liam to slow down enough to let it rest? Jamie: Welcome. I have a very active little boy too. He has me drained by the end of the day. This board is great for relaxing, venting and ideas. Lisa: Hope you get some fun time w/ Max this weekend. I hear ya on the guilty feelings when work keeps you so busy. Helen: ...maybe that's why our vet sells pet health insurance! Guess I should have looked into it before I got the test results back. Moe: At least you have a way of bribing your DH to go. If mine doesn't want to it's not even worth the hassle and argument anymore. Michelle: So was the Pooh stuff for you or the boys?? LOL Time for bed. Nite-Nite. Julianne & Colton 21 mo email: jjones@howardmiller.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 00:29:16 (EDT)) Hi everyone, I haven't visited this board in so very long, since the last century actually.. I hope that somebody remembers who I am. Ididn't get chance to read all of the posts as there are just so many, so hopefully I can just start fresh and get to know some of you. I didn't see anything from Moriah on my quick glance through. Does anyone know how her and baby Alex are doing? I just got internet access at home, and I feel so free, not having to worry about anyone looking over my shoulder at work. Iguess I should say that I am mommy to Kyla who is 6 and Caelen who is 17 months, and boy is it different with 2.. It feels more like 10 times the work, but worth every minute. And here is one of them calling now. Hope to chat again soon, paula, kyla and caelen email: pl.marshall@home.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 01:45:09 (EDT)) Theressa here, Personals first. Meg - I just read your entry about the C section with the bread knife. Same things happened here a few years ago, but the woman used car keys! She had told her DH she was PG so he wouldn't leave her. So then after 9 months, she had to come up with a baby. I am doing my personals on the Notepad, and I just got to your next post - Of all my kids, Tiana was the earilest to talk. She started saying mom, dad, and bottle at 11 months. By 12m, she had about 25 words. My oldest son however, didn't really start talking until he was 3. He spoke gibberish. But he recongnized symobols, and the objects that they stood for, kinda like reading. The first thing he noticed was FORD. He pointed out all the Ford cars and truck, dealerships, commercials, etc. He even had a small tractor (hot wheels size) with a tiny Ford Logo - and he would point it out. I could barely see it! Marcus has been talking for a few months, but he is just now starting to widen his vocabulary. Sarah - thanks for the welcome back. And thanks for signing the questbook on my site. This is the first time that I have even done anything like this, and I wanted it to look proffessional. But I had so much fun doing it, that I have voulenteered to do 2 more sites for other people. Lisa B - sounds like Max had a ball with those puzzles. Kids are so cute that that age when they are trying to figure something out. Then the look of wonder and surprise on their faces when they finally get "the picture". Yes, the kids love the pony. Gma has full size horses, and they can be scary to little kids. (Josh fell off of one that is 17 hands (a hand is 4 inches) - but he got right back on) But now with the pony - they can saddle him themselves! Yesterday I hitched him up to the cart, and started teaching all the kids how to drive. Marcus even got into the act and grabbed the reins! After awhile I let Bryton (6) drive the other kids around by himself (it's an indoor arena - so I wasn't too worried) I should have got the video camera out. It was so cute, all the kids on the cart, and Bryton acting so grown-up, driving them all. MORE - It is sad when your scehdule is so crazy that you can's see Max more. After Marcus was born I was working 2 jobs. I left before the kids were up, had time to come home for dinner, then I was off again to work. (Fortunatly I was only 1/2 block from both jobs (Warrensburg just isn't that big) or I would have never seen them. So I am holding on to SAHM status with both hands as long as I can! Tara - Sorry to hear that your not going to go with the VBAC. I guess knifves and babies together scare me, in any fashion. Have you thought about a 2nd opinion? I have heard that some doctors recommend C sections, because they are easier for the doctor to plan. Anyway, I hope that I haven't offended you - I know that you will make the best choice for you and yours. I only mention this because you sound like you want VBAC, and it sounds like the Dr is the one who doesn't. So, I have upset you - Just tell me to shut my big trap, and leave the subject alone. Patty - That diaper episode was the first. Since then he has been taking off his diaper everytime he goes. I have tried setting him on the potty, and talking to him about it, but he still is not really interested. Tonight I am trying the backwards diaper thing, and so far it's working . . . Don't worry about not checking out the site yet - I just made a bunch of changes. I am however, looking for another story to feature next month. MORE - Glad you like the site. I have been nervous about it since I just posted it with the search engines. Rebecca - house sounds great! I just moved from a 3 story, 3 bed in the middle of town (walking distance to everything) to a 2 bed apt (it's temp while we look for housing) with hardly another house in site. On one hand, I love letting the kids outside to play without worrying about kidnapping, traffic, etc - but on the other I miss being close to the store! One thing I'll never miss - nosy neighbors. Now if I could just find a place close to where I am at now the kids won't have to give up Gma and the pony! Beth - OUCH! Hope it all heals well. I got a cut on my lip when I was a kid (calf riding at the rodeo) and I still have the scar. Sue - sounds like a great day with Cameron. Too cute about the cat - as long as he doesn't start trying to catch it by the tail. LOL Marcus loves the cats, and he uses the dog as a pillow whenever he gets a chance. Katy - hope Liam is feeling better. Alice - sounds like Nathan had fun at the petting zoo. Sometimes those animals can really be scary if you are not used to them. But it sounds like it went well anyway. Too bad about the BM in the underwear. Good idea making him clean it up - I hate that part myself. Jamie - WELCOME. Hope you have as much fun on this board as the rest of us. By way of Intro - I am a SAHM of 4 Bryton (6), Joshua (5), Tiana (3) and Marcus (2 on April 30). I found this site after I lost my son Thad to pneumonia at 10 days old in Feb. I am collecting birth stories for a book to be dedicated to my son. I am 29 (really!) and my DH works graveyards - so I usually post fairly late. My DH is also an aspiring stand up comedian, so we have alot of fun. I live in Utah - but I have also lived in Missouri and North Carolina. Ok, I have a question. After I had Thad, DH and I opted to go with an IUD for birth control (although I want more kids, I am not sure that I am ready so soon after losing one. I had my normal PP bleeding, then when the IUD was put in (4 wks), I had a reg AF. That was 7 wks ago, and no AF since. Now - I don't think I am PG (IUD's are 99% effective) but DH wants me to go get a test. But I would feel funny going to my OB and saying "I know I'm not PG, but could you test me anyway" (I don't really trust home PG tests) So I am wondering - maybe I still have hormones in my system from the PG, maybe it's stress, or maybe I AM in the 1% who gets PG on IUD! But lately all I can think about it how nice it would be to be PG - but I am still not sure that I am ready. I've thought about mentioning this to my loss support group, but some of them are TTC, and I don't want to barge in an say "HEY, I might be PG even tho I'm on BC" when they are TTC without success. Any thoughts? (I mean I KNOW I'm not, but. . .) Theressa email: labor_story@yahoo.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 03:07:21 (EDT)) Hi everyone, Meg here: Well, I have to be quick but I thought I would just mention: Does anyone want to have a CHICKENPOX party???!!! Just fly on over to CT. Can you believe it???? What a way to start the weekend. Hana has had this temp for two days now and yesterday after her nap --- she's been sleeping for like 3 to 4 hours these past 3 days I thought it was the two teeth coming out. Well, I took her nappy off to change her and there were all these bumps across her behind and down her legs. Phoned the paed and he was laughing because we couldn't quite tell him what these bumps looked like because they kept changing (small little bumps). Well after we showed him and he had to look at the bumps under a magnifying glass he said that this looks like chickenpox --- perhaps a mild case of it. Well what a day! Our little poxy coated girl is getting more and more miserable. She's still eating but the temps just keep staying up --- third day now. I hope this is chickenpox now and not something else. He said its definetly not an alergy type of thing but most definetly the pox. This morning I could see it around the back of her ears and around nose and under her eyes. Funny thing is she started a new dance class yesterday and I had to sign a form agreeing not to bring her if she was ill ---- well I thought she was teething and etc. Now we've infected the whole class. It was such an awful class I hope she actually asks us not to come back. I didn't read through the personals ---- Hana is going to wake up now so I want to get some snack organised for her. Decided to sleep with her seeing I didn't get much sleep last night myself. She was just so hot --- I can't sleep when she's ill. I'll come on again later. Speak to you soon. MEg Meg & Hana (16.5 months) email: yoshi@iafrica.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 11:27:07 (EDT)) Hey everyone! It's Jamie, Gabe is sleeping and here I am! So far so good. I have one question before I go on to personals. Does anyone have a problem with their little ones being violent? Gabriel scratches at my face, my DH's face and even our dogs face. At first I thought it was just when he was tired, but now he does it when I know he is not tired. We dont beleive in spanking, and have been using time out, but so far it hasnt seemed to be working. Have any of ya'll had this problem, and if so, what have you done about it? The violence really gets to me, and although I respect his feelings and the frustration at not being able to communicate as well verbally as well as he would like to, I need to teach him to channel his frustrations in a different way. Help! Theresa: I am so sorry for your loss. It is good that you have found a way to use your greiving energy productivly towards a project honoring your son. About the pg possibility, I would definitly go to the doctor, as it is very important to find out as soon as possible if you have an IUD. Its also just good to know for sure! A couple of months ago I thought I was pg, and all I could think was "I know I'm not, but......" while this little voice kept whispering, what if?what if? I would like to visit your website, but dont have the address. Post it if you could, or please send it in an e-mail. Thanks! Meg: sorry to hear about you r daughters chicken pox, but it has a bright side. At least now she will be 100% inocculated and doesnt have to worry about getting it when she is older. I chose not to give Gabe the vaccine for several reasons, one being that the vaccine is only about 70% effective, and chicken pox is so bad when you are older. We are hoping he gets it when he is young, but if not we will give him the vaccine when he is 14. Thank you everyone for the welcomes, congratulations LisaB on your second pregnancy (makes me start to think about another baby...) Talk to you later, Jamie and Gabe (14 months) email: zeppelin2@msn.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 13:57:32 (EDT)) Hello, Tara here!!! Well this weekened we are just hanging around the house. Although I will get out for a bit this evening. I was invited to a pleasure party. DH and Adriana will be on their own tonight. Then we have been running around doing all the things we need to get done for easter weekened. I couldn't find sandels for Adriana anywhere. Her feet are so chubby and wide. Finally I came across some that fit. She has been getting very spoiled lately. She has gotten so many summer outfits. Plus Nana has bought alot too. I think she is set for summer. Now we need to work on this one on the way. Adriana has been saying thank-you for a really long time now. It's funny she will give something to me or DH and look at us and say Thank-you. Like mommy you need to say thank-you. Such a well manored little girl. Dont know where she gets it from.LOL anyways I really need to start getting ready, so I will get to personals later, sorry. Tara and Adriana Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 18:15:59 (EDT)) Hi everyone, back again to do the personals: Tara: I agree, rather have the c-section. Don't worry about the birth and etc, just enjoy the pg and think about those first few minutes of bonding with baby. How far are you? Shelly: Good for Jim, I always admire a man who accepts a child as his own although it is not his. I would make him feel very special for doing that. Biological parents do not make the childs real parents --- you have to earn that!!! Julianne: Don't let negative talk get to you. Tequila will come through ---- just give her lots of cuddles and love. Rather worry about the treatment and giving her a healthy diet. I love cats so much. Patty: That was so cute. I remember those loving times together too. A good giggle before bedtime always helps them sleep better I believe. Oh! HOw I miss those tender times. NOw my daughter just drinks her bottle and goes to sleep. Sarah: Sooo cute! I could just amagine it. Isn't wonderful when they model us and try to be the same but in their own little way. Sue: That was so great with the stick. We have to constantly save the cats from Hana's claws. She has no respect for them. She's so rough with them. Jami: Welcome and hi to you. LisaB: No--- DH's family have not seen Hana in person yet. We are hoping to do this though. This is why we would rather prefer to go up north --- its easier and quicker to travel. Helen: Boston is so great. Its very much like Cape Town --- same vibe and etc. We also live in the university area of Cape Town so we identified so much with Boston. We were there a few years ago --- also my DH;s sister used to live there --- she taught at Cambridge. DH lived there for a few years too. If we can get into the states --- which I think we can but we want to try for the lottery ticket this year again. It doesn't cost much so we wouldn't have to go through all of the paper work and interviews and etc. It only opens again in Aug or Sept. But the states isn't my first choice because of the bad schools ---- media ---- just worries me a bit. Theresa: Why don't you just go for a blood test at a lab. I did that. I didn't bother with the doctor. Otherwise you have to pay for that visit too. Jamie: When Gabe does that again. Don't react by screaming or shouting but him down and say in a stern voice "NO == ugly! no scratch!" and walk away. Let him realise that this is not acceptable behaviour. Stop whatever fun you were having. They really don't understand at this stage but by turning your back he'll get the subtle message. Well everyone, Hana temp seems to have subsided for now. But I've still got the night to get through. Shame I think the itchiness is beginning. This is going to be one hell of a week I think. But hopefully it is not going to get any worse. She doesn't want to let us change her nappy now. I think her skin is very tender. I'm not even using any barrier cream. I think the spots are going down there too. We tried the caladryl cream --- she didn't want me applying this either so I had to pour the lotion into my hands and warm it up a bit and then apply it. I'm not sure if I can use this in the groin area around her private parts. I'll have to phone the paed tomorrow and ask. Good night all --- have a great Sunday. Meg Meg & Hana (16.5 months) email: yoshi@iafrica.com Saturday, April 15, 2000 at 18:44:07 (EDT)) Hi all, Kahne here, Today Iam going to catch up on personals! Cat is being entertained by the Best of Elmo, and DH is at MIL's cleaning out her gutters. Tonight I am going to play bonko? to help out a friend of mine's little girl to go to washington, DC with her girl scout group. MIL and I are going, DH is watching Cat, it ought to be fun. I have a ton pf personals to catch up on.....so warning MONSTER POST AHEAD! I don't know if I introduced myself to all of the new moms on the site. My name is Kahne (pronounced Connie). I am 22, and a full time student. DH is Steve and he is 25 and a mechanic. We got married this past September 4. We were going to get married before Cat, but I got pregnant in the middle of wedding plans last time. We live in a very tiny town called Picayune (pick-a-une) Mississippi. We are originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. We moved here about 4 years ago. My mother still lives in N.O. I dont speak to my dad, and MIL lives here in Picayune near us. I will graduate college in 2002 with my RN. So nowthat you all know about me, here goes: Lisa B* A little boy? My DH would be very jealous! He is DYING for a son! He has to wait, though, Congrats again. Louise* Good luck moving. Wethought about bying a new house too, but we just can't take on the financial responsibility now. I am glad for you ! Tammi* Cat will start Day Care in the fall when she turns two (most wont take them here till then). I am terrified of leaving her with someone I dont know, feel lucky that someone you know works there! Meg* South Africa? That has to be rough, and I thought Mississippi was hot! Rita* I can sympathize with the Gym thing, but I started tae bo, and I love it! Charlene and Hayden* Good to see you "on this side"! How are you doing! Michelle* Congrats on Oprah, I missed it because of school. I am sure everything was wonderful, but thank goodness it wasn't me, the camera crews would have had to kick a path, lol! Julianne* I'll send you some heat if you send me some snow! Alice* I have dreams like that about my mothers husband. They scare the **** out of me, don't feel silly. Patty* Cat LOVES pictures too. When anyone sends me pics online she goes bonkers. Moe* Hi, I don't know you, but Hi anyway! Lisa B* Steve coughs alot sometimes, and Cat will pat him on the back and babble. They can be so funny sometimes, you wonder where they get it from. Meg* I bought Cat a toothbrush that looks like a whale and some Barney toothpaste. I give it to her in the bath and let her "brush" them herself while she is in there. Now if I dont give her the brush as soon as I start running the bath she screams. She actually does a good job, but I do wrestle it away to do a thorough brushing after she has played withit for a while. Tara* I had a section too, and the doc wants me to try it natural the next time, but there is a chance your uterus cant take the pressure. I would go through the section again before I tried to go vaginal. Just my opinion. Shelley* My Bad, Happy Birthday Riley! Julianne* I had a dog (Kelley) that had hw, she did fine and died of old age. Don't worry! Patty* Got the pics, too adorable. Cat and I are going to get some made soon, and I will be sure to pass them along! Beth* Are you alright?? Sue* Cat was 20lbs and 31 inches at her12 month, I am afraid to see how much taller she is next week! Both of us have tall skinny ones on our hands, lol! Jamie* Welcome, seems that we have a lot in common, looking forward to chatting with you! Paula* Welcome to you too! Theressa* The hormones in your IUD will make your period stop. It is the same type of meds as in Depo-Povera, The doctor will tell you (more than likely) that it is a normal side effect of the medication. Well, I hope I havent killed all of you with this, but I finally feel fair and all caught up :o). Funny thing, I was worried about Cat not talking, but now she says COTun, (cotton, our cat), and of all things, Damn. Everytime she falls, slips or gets in trouble, she says as loud and clear as she can, DAMN! Better than some other words, I guess, lol. Well, the game starts at 7, I will have to let you guys know if I win! Cat and I are going to bathe, I love taking baths with her, she is so funny! Bye All! Hugs!
