Toddlers Today's MomsTalk Archive Hello mommies----Melissa here. Molly's latest thing is to hug (any of a number of) stuffed animals and say, "It's OK."!!! Last night, she was at a sitters' house, and when we got home, (my parents were still gone) she looked into the (dark) living room (which looked like tornado of toys had hit it), and said, "Oh My Goodness! What happened?!"!!!!! It was too cute. I'm so grateful that "OMG" seems to be the "worst" thing she has picked up around here-----it SURE could be worse!!!! Well, on to personals. (I'm catching up after a few days, so it'll be long---as usual!!) MICHELLE***Thanks for the cute picture of Riley. Do you have any of Evan? I'd love to see them, too. It's a good thing your boys are hardheaded!! LOL! Hope they're OK now. Sorry you missed Evan's peeing standing up. CATHY G***Boy, when it rains at your house, it pours! You deserve a break! I hope Alison and Emma get better real soon. JULIANNE***Congrats on the new job. Too cute about Colton's head bobbing....kids will hold out until the end if they think they'll miss something! So cute, too about Colton's saying "toot-toot" to the pictures of the trains on his wall. Molly will talk to her stuffed animals in her bed if she wakes up before I get to her. SARAH g***I'd love pictures of Isaac and Sofia. You've probably told me before, but how old are they? I'll send you pictures of Molly as soon as I get through here. I've "talked" to Beth through e-mail, and the internet police at her work are cracking down heavily. But all is well with them. Congrats on the new nephew. SUE***I was LOL at DH's dishwasher antics!!! HELEN***Glad you're back and had a good trip. I'm anxiously awaiting the details!! LYNDA***I'm re-sending the pics of Molly. I think I had your address wrong...??? LOUISE***Please send pics of James. LISAB***Too cute about Max "giving 5". I hope he gets over his strep and "crud" real soon. Can I have a pic of Max? Please? HAYLEY***I'm glad Becca is OK after that fall. The little farts are too quick for us sometimes, aren't they? RITA***look closer------there IS a pitchfork in Molly's eyes-----(at least sometimes I think so!!) But yes, she does have a LOT of spirit. Congratulations (if it's not too early) on the new job. JENNIFER (w/ASHTON)***Welcome. My 25-month old is VERY strong-willed. I just (try to) ignore her when she's throwing a fit. As long as I know she's in a safe place, then I just walk away.....humming loudly, or making it very obvious that I am interested in something else. USUALLY, her tantrums don't last very long when I do that. CHRISTI***Didn't you get Molly's pictures? Please let me know, and I'll try to re-send them. Yes, I have the wonderful screaming tantrums here, too. Will they ever stop???!!! LOL HEATHER (w/MIRANDA)***Welcome, too. Good luck on getting Miranda to sleep elsewhere. It's good that you are starting on this before your trip. PATTY***I'm glad you had a break in the weather. Thanks for the e-mail and the pic of you and Jarin. You sure don't look old enough to have a 12 and 13-year-old!!!! (Or else they haven't "worn" you yet!!) You sure are hitting the Mountain Dews heavily these days, huh? LOL I hope things get better with your new student. (But, how much trouble can a kindergartener be?) I always want pictures of that precious Jarin. Please keep me updated as you get new ones. ROMAINE***I'll re-send Molly's pics to DH's e-mail address with the subject notation as you said. I still want a picture of Saba, please? I'm praying for Leanne. That's great--Saba peeing in the potty! Molly just won't show any interest at all. DARLEEN***I'll try to re-send the pics of Molly to the hotmail address. Good luck with the move. Glad DH will be there to help you and help with Nolan. I'm glad your friend's baby is OK. (What a real jerk -- her husband or whatever...) Molly's father didn't want anything to do with me when I found out I was pg, so after she was born (he still had the same feelings), I MADE him terminate his rights. I knew I wouldn't get any child support out of him anyway, but I wanted to make SURE he didn't EVER have rights to visitation, either. It's not easy, but I think we're both better off without him in our lives. Well, I'd better go and send the pics as promised. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'll catch y'all later... Melissa and Molly (2 years) email: molsmom98@hotmail.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 03:09:12 (EST)) Hi mommies. Well, the wonderful change in weather has made my little Jarin a sick monster boy. He is running a slight fever (99.8) and his nose is running like crazy. He also has a constant cough. He's now back on breathing treatments at least twice a day, as well as Motrin and Tylenol alternating every 3 hours. We see the dr. on Tuesday for his 18 month check up. I hope he can wait until then to go. I know tomorrow will be absolutely PACKED after this weekend. He seems to be ok, as long as the tylenol stays in his system. **Michelle: Good luck with your web design. Don't keep us waiting too long. I want to see Riley! =) **Romaine: Congrats on the new job. It's good to know you are excited about it. I just got this book yesterday called "so you want to be a stay at home mom". LOL. Does that tell you anything? =) **Sarahg: Thanks for the update on Beth. Yes, these kids can certainly be challenging. It'd be nice if they got any help/discipline at home, but when they don't it's nearly impossible to do everything in the three hours a day I have them. **Lynda: If you've already tried the oils, I'd go ahead and try the hydracortisone that the Dr recommended. Good luck **Darleen: Glad to hear DH is home and even has a couple extra days to be with you guys (even though it'll be spent moving). Congrats on your friend's baby, but sorry to hear the DH is being such a jerk. I agree with Melissa - if he doesn't want anything to do with it, I'd have him terminate rights too. **Melissa: So cute that Molly hugs her stuffed animals. That's great that you got Molly's father to terminate his rights. Oh, how I wish I'd have been able to do that with Jaime! Thanks for the compliment about me not looking old enough to have a 12 - 13 year old. Actually, that's Helen. I have a 16 year old 8 year old, and Jarin. LOL **Gotta go tend to sick boy. Take care all. Patty and Jarin - 18 months today! email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 15:08:44 (EST)) Hey, it's Melissa again. JULIANNE***I accidentally re-sent you pics of Molly last night. I guess I had you on my mind, because I typed in your e-mail address---even after your message stating that you needed us to hold off. Sorry. ROMAINE, LYNDA, DARLEEN, JENNIFER, HEATHER, SARAH G and CHRISTI***I sent y'all pics, too after I posted last night. Please let me know if you guys got them. PATTY***I just sent you an e-mail. Sorry that Jarin is sick. Hope he gets better real soon. Thank God for tylenol and motrin!!! LOL I'm going to take a nap while Molly is down, too. Talk to y'all later. Melissa email: molsmom98@hotmail.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 15:48:18 (EST)) Hello from Helen&Amanda! Sorry I'm still not getting a chance to post- Amanda is awake- with all the laundry- DS's b-day yesterday- 14yrs old!! , and getting things organized I still have not caught up on posts-sorry! I'll try tomorrow- take care all! Helen&Amanda@18mos(DS@14yrs&DD@12yrs). email: mhim27@hotmail.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 17:29:47 (EST)) Good Afternoon, it's Debbie. Hi, how's everyone? Hope you're all doing great. We returned home late yesterday from my parents. Dh had a meeting in Sacramento so we all decided to go for a visit to my parents. And we all came home sick. Dh finally got the cold I had and now he has given it back to me. Maddie is feeling rotten and Emilee isn't too bad, yet. We have to get Maddie well, Wednesday is her 3rd birthday. We are having a little people birthday party on Tuesday with her new friends from our play group and on Saturday one with family. We are having the parties at a new pizza place that has a great play area for their ages. We bought her a bike and I just can't wait to give it to her. Emilee is still having her soft bm's. Most days she has 2-3 and they smell sour, sorry. I think it's from teething. I cut down on the dairy products and she still has them. CathyG - Whiskey Flat Days is a 3 day event they have here. There is a parade, carnival, rodeo, pony rides, arts and crafts, food faire and western shoot outs in the streets. It's just a way for the merchants to get some business during the slow months. Michelle - I knew if I said one word I wouldn't shut up. Thanks. Julianne - Congrats on the new job. Rita - Hope you get that job. How's Maddy & Amy? Romaine - Saba's on her way to the Big Girl potty. Rebecca - Get well soon. Helen - Welcome Home! Patty - You know I want pics of Jarin. Maddie & Emilee love to look at all the pics we get. Lynda - Don't wash Ella's hair too often, maybe once or twice a week. Shampoo is drying. Emilee had cradle cap also and I used baby oil on her head and then combed it through. That helps to loosen it off. Good luck. Everyone have a great week and hope all of us sickies get well. Take care. Anyone else with pictures please send them my way. Sorry I don't have a scanner to send pictures of my little angles. Debbie, Maddie & Emilee email: debngreg@qnet.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 19:32:19 (EST)) Hi guys- Sarah g here. I have to tell you what Isaac did today. He is becoming such a comedian/goof ball. We were at Trader Joe's, this really nifty grocery store that seems to have snottier (is that a word??) than normal customers. I had Sofia in the shopping cart seat and Isaac had to walk. Well, it was SOOO crowded he nearly got run over by shopping carts about 100 times. He was also totally bonkers from a day of car rides, shopping and only short car naps. He grabbed these big salami logs that were shrink wrapped and stuck them right in his mouth, hanging from his mouth like two giant fangs. Of course people started laughing, while I tried to quietly convince him that that was not ok. It was insane. LOL Anyway we spent the whole day out and about, just avoiding the rainy day. One of our cars bit the dust last night- thank God we had just gotten a cell phone a few weeks ago so dh was able to call me. dh had Isaac in the car with him when the car died. It was dark and pouring rain when it happened. Geez! Luckily everyone was safe. Darleen- Thanks for the pictures!! Nolan is such a cutie! I'm sending you some of us right now in another browser window... Lynda- Hope the cradle cap clears soon. We used adult dandruff shampoo on Sofia when she was an infant and it really helped. She's about due for another round of it now, also. Melissa- Thanks for the pictures, also!! It's so fun to see what everybody looks like. I'll send you some of us tonight. Molly sounds too funny saying "it's ok" to her animals. Isaac is 2 yrs 9 mo and Sofia is nearly 11 months. Patty- Poor sick monster boy! Hope he has a quick recovery! Debbie- Do you live near Sacramento? I am quite close (only 40 miles north east or so- I'm rotten with distance...) Sorry to hear you all came back sick. ooooo! kids came back from bath with papa!!!!! gotta go! Sarah g, Isaac, and Sofia email: gat_men@hotmail.com Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 23:19:10 (EST)) Hi from Lynda - 2 days running - wow! Thanks Darleen, Patty, Melissa and Debbie for advice on the cradle cap - I have tried oils etc and they didn't work. I have taken her to another doctor and have a prescription for a product with sulphur in it - will see how this goes and if this doesn't work then will try the hydracortisone. While at the doctors I met a young mum of about 20 who had a little boy with very bad exczema. They have had to wrap him in oil soaked cold bandages every 4 hours since he was about 6 months old. She was really cheerful about the whole thing and I found her attitude fantastic - it really inspired me and made me think that I shouldn't get bogged down in what are usually trivial problems!! Melissa and Beth - thank you for the photos of your adorable girls. Bye for now Lynda & Ella email: ljpjyoung@ozemail.com.au Sunday, February 27, 2000 at 23:28:37 (EST)) Hi, Romaine here. Saba had a GREAT time last night at some friends'. Their son is 5 mos younger. She was my work partner and we used to share babysitting. The 2 ran circlea and chased each other all evening!! I LOVE watching them! Melissa-I have a few people to send to and have not done so-I have added you to the list! I am sorry if I missed you! I'll have DH check. He said that he had deleted something to b/c he did not recognize the name. I'll find out if it was you or not-hopefully NOT! I am looking forward to it! Thanks or the prayers! Leanne has an u/s on Tue. She has not dilted or anything which is a good sign! Debbie-I have added you to said list as well! Patty-Thanks! Hey, are you becoming a SAHM? DH is on days for 2 weeks, then we are away for a week. I am not sure when I will get back on. I may lurk a little though! I'll miss you all! Romaine and Saba 23 mos (2 weeks 'til 2!) email: rrantry@yahoo.ca Monday, February 28, 2000 at 00:08:22 (EST)) Hello from Helen&Amanda!! Well the kids are still in bed- its raining so I think I will be driving them to school- it gives us an extra 1/2 hour to get ready. Our trip was great- the weather was perfect- about 75 everyday. Amanda was good and napped each day in her stroller- car or wherever she was at the time. Nobody got burned- we only were out in the sun one day- thats probably why- at the inlaws pool- Amanda loved it- the kids played w/her in her float and she laughed and laughed! We went to Islands of Adventure- my fav was Seuss Landing- think that was the name- it was so cute!! Amanda went on one ride- the merry-go- round and got really scared, so we didn't go to the Magic Kingdome since it would have really been for her and rides were out of the question! She was even scared on the swing at the hotel! So we went to Disney one day- shopping another and the guys took the kids to a water park- visited the inlaws another day and spent the night-walked around and browsed another day-went up to the top of the hotel another night for drinks and saw the fireworks at Epcot- that was pretty much it- the best thing was the kids had their own rooms!! So the girls had a room for the 2 of them- and the 3 boys also did- they could throw their clothes all over and I never saw them! They spent their spare time 'riding' the elevators- browsing in the gift shops and wandering the hallways! And now its back to housework and school!! ALSO-- I was so calm this trip- what a diff the meds made- usually everything is GRATING on my nerves big time this time I was so calm- it was so nice to actually enjoy myself and not be moody. Amanda had a seat on the plane- she fell asleep on the way there and slept most of the way- it took a while for them to 'de-ice' the plane-yes you read correctly!! On the way home she was getting grumpy but fell asleep after an hour or so, she did so well! The airport wasn't as bad as we thought it would be- we parked and took a shuttle into the airport to save us the time of finding a place to park but when we got back it was terrible waiting for everyone to get on- we kept stopping- DH was saying the driver was going the long way!! And when we checked out of the parking lot- it was 144$$$$$ to park there for 6 days!! DH was fuming by then- a limousine would have been cheaper he said!!! Romaine- Pics???? Lynda- Hope the prescription works- sounds like its what she needs since nothing seems to work.Congrats on selling your unit! Melissa- Thanks for the Pics!! Molly is so cute- love the dress!( we live in Mass.) Well I should go and wake the kids for school-I'll be back later. :O) Helen&Amanda@18mos(DS@14yrs&DD@12yrs). email: mhim27@hotmail.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 08:52:57 (EST)) Hello all, Christi here. Well, Friday we decided we needed to get out of town, so we left for my sisters (a 2 /12 hour drive), it was raining so hard about 45 minutes into the trip we had to pull over and wait. I was a nervous wreck, but we made it safely, so I was happy. Also on Friday our tax refund came in, so we spent a litle time shopping for the kids summer clothes. Now we are going to go pay for our vacation (that is not until October!) and all of the $$ will be gone! And I could have spent it any number of other ways! Oh well. It was a nice week-end just very busy. Caleb was such a little trooper, as long as he had his blankie and thumb we were okay. You all are going to think I am crazy, but I have some old notes (from Thursday or Friday)So I am going to use those. ROMAINE***LeAnne is on my prayer list, please keep us updated. Yeah for Saba!! MICHELLE***Yes, a picture please, thanks BIRDIE***I did video Caleb's first hair cut (DD's too)It's a big thing. CATHY***Sounds like you had a hectic couple of days, hope things are getting back to normal. JULIANNE***YEAH for the new job, good for you! Thanks so much for the card, it really made my day when I got the mail! HELEN***Sounds like you had a nice vacation, I hope ours goes that smoothly! MELISSA***Thanks, Molly is a doll! MORIAH***How is Alex doing? Hope you are well. KELLI***How are you feeling, any better? I hope so. DARLEEN***Hope your move goes smoothly! Let me know when you are back up! Well girls, DD is bugging me to call Grandma, gues I better go, bye! Christi & Caleb 16 months (today!) email: plumbs@coiinc.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 11:40:35 (EST)) HOWDY ALL, It's Michelle. I'm very surprised I was able to get on here today. I'm looking after my friends 10 month old for 2 weeks because she had to go out of town (days only, her dh is at work). I thought it would be crazy hectic with a 10 mo old, 1yr and 2yr old in the house but she is a little Angel. I was sitting on the couch with her this am and next thing I new she was asleep!! This is new to me since my kids never did that. Romaine - I'm glad Leanne is home and feeling better. Congrats on your new job! Sarah g. I'll email you soon - Samantha is waking up now. I'd love to see pics of Isaac and Sofia. Darleen - Good LUck with your MOVE!! Patty - Hope Jarin feels better. I'll let everyone know my website address soon so you can see pics of Riley. Helen - WoW, sounds like you are very busy after your trip. I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed yourself. That's great that the kids had their own rooms! Debbie - Maddie will be so excited about her bike, good luck with her party. Sorry that taking away dairy didn't help, I hope that the teething is over with soon and Emilee starts to feel better. I'd better go get Samantha - she's up stairs chatting to herself in Riley's crib. (she's so sweet, I miss this baby stuff!) But... not enough to have another one. LOL Take care everyone. Michelle Evan 2.5 yrs and Riley 17 mo email: mwells@telusplanet.net Monday, February 28, 2000 at 12:46:17 (EST)) What a busy Monday it has been. I am having fun packing boxes at work. DH stopped by earlier w/ the truck to take stuff home. I had purchased a few items from my office that I thought we could use since they were nice and cheap. Colton is back to sleeping through the night again so that is helping. He was a naughty little boy Saturday though. He was supposed to be coloring at the table while I was doing my hair. When I peeked around the bathroom door I caught him coloring on the kitchen wallpaper!!! Any suggestions on what takes crayon of wallpaper? He had lots of fun playing w/ a crayola keyboard I bought him. When the music would stop he would say bye bye to the keyboard. He will sway and dance when it plays a tune. He just loves anything musical. I like that it can set on his carseat to entertain him during rides and that there is a drawer that pulls out that I can put cereal in for him to munch on in the car. My hand gets pretty tired of holding the cereal for him otherwise. Sue: Loved the DH & soapsuds story. LisaB: Hope Max feels better soon. I hear you on the wipe refill shortage. It's always when you need it the most that you realize you forgot to refill it. Patty: Yeah for good Jarin pics. Boo for the new girl in your class. Should I be buying stock in Mountian Dew? Sorry to hear Jarin is sick again. I hate those change in weather colds. It doesn't seem fair that as the weather gets nice the kids get sick. Colton is starting a not so nice cough too. Michelle: Good luck w/ the web design. Romaine: Yeah for getting the job. Lynda: Sorry about Ella's cradle-cap. Darleen: Good luck w/ the move. What a crazy week you had. Debbie: Hope Maddie is feeling better for her 3-yr b-day party. SarahG: Too funny about Isaac and the salami. I too had a Saturday of running errands and trying not to get wet. DH got me real mad by wanting me to give Colton a bath while he lazed on the couch and then I was supposed to go get dinner and a video. I told him I would just take Colton w/ me and that he would have plenty of time to relax that way. When I got home I had to tear the truck apart trying to find where the video had landed. Helen: Glad you had a good relaxing vacation. Christi: A tax refund--what's that?? We always owe since we have our own business. Sounds like you had lots of fun shopping. Julianne & Colton 19 mo email: jjones@batts.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 14:25:43 (EST)) Hi from LisaB. Max FINALLY feels better. He ran a 100.5 to 102.8 fever from about noon Thursday until late Saturday afternoon - even with Tylenol. His cold got better early yesterday so he's able to breathe easier. He had breathed through his mouth so much he had a bad chapped place on his upper lip that he kept trying to lick to moisten - LOL! I haven't checked to see if all his drooling resulted in any new teeth - he was cuddling with me last night and bit my shoulder REALLY hard so I'm rather leery of voluntarily sticking any fingers in his mouth!!! Last night a catchy tune was on a tv commercial - Max held onto the house and wiggled his little butt like crazy. It was HILARIOUS!!! Too bad we didn't have the video camera out. PATTY: Sorry the new girl in your class is driving you nuts. Max gets his 18 month pictures taken today - on his 18 month birthday! I would love to see Jarin's pictures. I hope Jarin is feeling better soon. JULIANNE: Thanks for the card and pictures. Max carried his valentine all over the house! SarahG: Thanks for the Beth update. So Isaac has grown fangs, huh?! LYNDA: Sorry; I don't have any experience with cradle cap. DARLEEN: I'm sorry Nolan is being such a pill. I can't imagine not wanting anything to do with your own child - how awful. It's great that you're there for your friend, though. MELISSA: I hope to send out pictures of Max soon. I just picked some up Friday but was sick all day Saturday and therefore haven't had a chance to scan any of them. DEBBIE: I'm sorry you are all feeling sick. HELEN: I usually use long-term parking at the airport and it's fairly cheap. $144 is A LOT to pay! I'm glad the trip went well. JULIANNE: YIKES, I don't know what would take crayon off wallpaper. LisaB & Max (18 mo today) & 11 weeks pg email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 14:35:03 (EST)) Hayley here. We survived our trip to Lake Tahoe, including a nearly 5 hr. drive back, 3 hrs. of it in a raging snow/rain storm! Had lots of fun, and paid lots of $$ to a babysitter so we could get some skiing in. I even took a beginning snowboard lesson - I think it would have been much easier if I'd tried when I was 17, instead of 37! I also forgot how far it is to fall on your butt when you're 5'8"! Becca had a great time - there were 6 kids between 1 1/2 - 5, and 4 dogs, so she had lots of stimulus. One major fiasco - we forgot to pack a pacifier, which she normally gets at naptime and bedtime. At bedtime, she started screaming "binky, binky" and cried for almost 3 hrs. straight. The next day, I made my DH drive 1/2 hr. to the grocery store to buy her one! At least we had peace for the rest of our stay. Fortunately, every other kid in the house had a hissy-fit at some time during the weekend, so I got over my guilt of disturbing the peace! Christie - you're too organized for me, already spending your tax refund. DH and I haven't even collected the records to send to our accountant! Helen- glad you had fun at Disney. Do you think your daughter got much out of it at her age? We're talking about a trip to Disneyland in CA, but DH thinks we should wait until Becca's 3 or older, since she won't enjoy much of it otherwise. Hayley and Becca (17 mos.) email: hayley.thompson@citicorp.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 16:37:33 (EST)) Hey ladies, just a quick post to let you know things are good with us. Allison is cuter than ever and still growing like a weed! She had a bit of a rough time this Saturday. First she fell off her little stool in the bathroom and busted her chin open. Dh and I thought for a while that she may need stitches because she was screaming so bad and wouldn't let us see it. Finally we were able to clean it up and get a good look at it and she only had a small cut, luckily. Then, later that night we were visiting some friends and she tripped and fell into their glass coffee table. She cut the front of her chin this time and busted the inside of her lip open. Last night when she was eating she bit the place that she busted and just started screaming. Poor thing! A few personals. I've been reading all week last week, but will just respond to the posts from the weekend and today since it's been far too long since I last posted to possibly address everyone! Julianne - If you can get your hands on some citrus cleaner that stuff will clean ANYTHING!! We got ours from a door to door salesperson and a small amount mixed with water (1 part cleaner, 20 parts water) will clean everything from carpet to tennis shoes, to mildew stains, etc. I'll look tonight and get the exact name of it. Cathy G - I hope you don't have pink eye! Sue - I was LOL at you dishwasher story. It gave me a good laugh this morning when I read about it. Lisa B - glad Max feels better! He sounds so cute shaking his booty to the music! Michelle - I can't wait to see your web page. I'm a programmer, but can't really help you with web design as I program mainly business type programs that produce letters and calculate retirement benefits, etc. I would love to learn how to do web design though as it sounds much more interesting than my current line of work. Christi - aren't tax refunds great even though they never seem to last long enough! Helen - your trip sounds like fun! Sounds like our weather here was almost as good as the weather in Florida! This weekend it was 70-75 and sunny. Absolutely gorgeous. I know it will go back to winter soon though, and I'm not looking forward to it. Romaine - I'll be praying for Leanne! Sarah G - I was LOL at Isaac with the sausages. I could just see him doing that in the snooty store now! Too funny! Debbie - I hope you all feel better soon. Maddie's party sounds like it's going to be lots of fun! Hope Emilee's BM's get better soon too. Patty- could Jarin have allergies? I'm sure the great weather we are having here in the midwest probably started a lot of things blooming early and got those pollen counts going! Hope he gets better soon. Hope that new girl in your class get adjusted and starts acting better before you go crazy too! Melissa - Molly sounds too cute with her it's okay! Allison's new thing now is putting her baby dolls on the ironing board part of her kitchen, getting one of her clean diapers to put on them. She also takes her salt or pepper shaker and shakes it over their bottoms and says "powder, powder powder" (that's what I say to her when I put it on her.) I wrote you an e-mail back about the training pants a while back. Just wanted to make sure you got it. Haven't tried them yet, but plan to soon. Darleen - I just can't believe some people can just give up parental right like that when babies are such a wonderful gift from God. Well. I'd better get this posted quickly and get back to work. I'll get back on whenever I feel it's safe again. I don't think they'll say anything as long as I'm not on everyday so I have to limit my posts. It's driving me crazy as I need my daily TT fix, but I'll just have to deal as I don't see them letting up on the intenet monitoring anytime in the future. Talk to you ladies later Beth and Allison (21 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 16:42:47 (EST)) Hello from Rita Things are moving slowly with the job. HR approved them changing the spec, so now I'll have to see if we can agree on a salary range. I am so new to negotiating for a position. In the public sector you got what was advertised and that was it. It looks like there might be some travel involved, so I think that I will have to renew my passport as well as be ready to go to Colorado regularly. Hello Sarah and Kelli! Amy is constantly an amazement to us. She can climb anything and she proved it this weekend. I caught her halfway up onto the diningroom table. She has already mastered climbing on all of the sofas, chairs, etc. I am sure that she is the one we will be taking to the ER. She is so fearless. She's teething agaion and we had a bad night the other night. DH was getting a nap in the next day and the girls were with me. Maddy asked where DH was and I told her he was napping. Amy started walking to the door to our room and said "Papa nap, papa nap." I was so amazed! Plus, she's turning into quite the Papa's girl with her coy little smiles and leaning into him. Oh, well... Debbie - Sorry to hear that you are still trading cooties! Sending healthy vibes ++++ for Maddie's party. Maddy loves the bike that Santa brought her, but we have had too much rain for her to use it regularly. Maybe we should bring it when we travel near you this summer so that the Maddies can ride together. I hear you on the teething stuff. I never remember Maddy having any problems - her teeth were always a surprise to us. Amy is totally different. Helen - Sounds like a wonderful trip. I am glad that you were able to relax and enjoy your time. Ouch on the airport parking bill. I always have someone drop me off when I go, but travelling with a whole family is a different story. Hayley - My former boss always said that even young toddlers got things out of going to Disneyland - he took his DDs every year. We are planning to go next year when Amy is two. Even if she can't go on much more than It's a Small World (Yuck!), she should have fun seeing all of the sights. She is already into Toy Story like her older sister. Cathy G - You are a scrapping goddess! I have never done that many pages at one time. I am working on my Christmas album and on a mini gift album for my niece's 30th BD. I hope that you all feel better soon. Julianne - Thanks for the card and pictures. Maddy made off with her Valentine and picture right away. I love being able to see what everyone looks like! Congratulations on the new job, by the way. Beth - Long lost friend, glad to hear from you! Allison sounds like such a character with her babies and the salt/pepper shakers. sorry about her mishaps. I am sure that Amy will be doing the same thing soon. Well, I had better get going. Take care everyone! Rita & Amy email: ritad@home.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 17:16:15 (EST)) Hi mommies. Jarin is still feeling sick today. He has a constant runny nose and cough and is whining at me non-stop. Tomorrow is his check-up. I'll be so glad to know whether he just has a cold or if something is infected. I can't handle much more of this crying and whining. He wants me to hold him and nurse him all day long. And hey, guess what I got at school today? Another new student!!!! We'll see how this one turns out. **Darleen: Thanks for the pictures. Nolan is a cutie and you have a nice looking family. **Melissa; Yes, thank heaven for Tylenol and Motrin or I'd REALLY be insane by now. Thanks for the nice email too. **Helen: Happy 14th birthday to your DS. Sounds like you had a nice vacation. I'm glad the meds helped you to be more calm. Yay for Amanda sleeping on the plane. I'm so jealous of the perfect weather. It was like that last Friday and it's been in the 50s since, which is better than the normal of 37, but I'm still ready for 70s and sunny. =) **Debbie; Sorry to hear you are all sick again. Gees, your family is as bad as ours. Happy Birthday to Maddie on Wednesday, in case I forget by then. Sorry to hear youa re also still fighting the teething. I will be sure to send new pics of Jarin when i get them. They are supposed to come in March 15th. **Sarahg: LOL at the sausage fants. That's even funnier that he did it in a snooty store. I'm glad DH had a cell phone to call you when he got stuck with Isaac. Thanks for the get well wishes for Jarin - you and me both!!! **Lynda: Oooh, cold bandages every four hours - that poor baby! **Romaine: I wish I could be a SAHM, well, ok, maybe not right this second. LOL **Christi: Glad you made it safely to your sister's. I'm looking forward to our refund check too. How is your mom doing? **Michelle: A 2 year old, 1 year old, and 10 month old - I would be insane. **Julianne: That Crayola keyboard sounds neat. Jarin would love something like that too. Yep, definitely get stock in Mountain Dew. LOL. How are things with your brother? **LisaB: I can't wait to get Jarin's new pics. Happy 18 month birthday to Max! **Hayley: We took DS to Disneyworld when he was about 2 years and 9 months - he was SOOOO much fun then. His face just lit up at everything. DH and I both had the best time just watching him. **Beth: Poor Allison's lip/chin. I hope she is ok soon. I am also not looking forward to winter coming back and I know it will be soon. Jarin may have allergies - who knows?? I'll ask the dr tomorrow. **Rita: So Amy is becoming a daddy's girl? Bet that breaks Larry's heart, huh? Jarin is also quite the climber. You don't like "It's a Small World"? I love that ride! LOL **Gotta go - screaming monster boy is seeing just how loud he can scream at me right now. See ya. Patty and Jarin - 18 months email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Monday, February 28, 2000 at 22:25:36 (EST)) Hey girlys! It's Moriah & Alex - we've been MIA agian. This time I've missed so much I can't even begin to catch up - SORRY! I've just been soooooo busy with Mr. Amazing here. He's just killing us with all his new advances. I have to say that I have the cutest kid - not to mention the sweetest. I'm just in heaven with him. We couldn't be happier. I'd like more $ but other than that our life is grand! Speaking of $ - I'm going back to my old job one day a week. I start on Friday. I'm nervous about leaving Alex (MIL is going to watch him) not to mention just working again. But hopefully it will end up to be a good thing - I'm really hoping that there will be things that I can take home & work on other days to help add more hours. We'll see. Alex is really sick right now. He got it really fast today. It's kind of like a respiratory virus but he also can't hold down any formula. I'm pretty worried about him & hope to avoid the ER tonight. I made an appointment with the ped for tomorrow am so we should be able to hold off until then. Exciting news - on Saturday we capped Alex's trach for 5 hours - he did great! This is a HUGE step towards getting it out. Capping means that you close it off completely & he breaths totally normal just like everyone else. Eventually the goal is to have it capped for 1-2 weeks 24/7 & then that proves that he no longer requires it. Also, Alex is going to have a rough April. 2 more surgeries :( Not looking forward to it at all. This time they're going to do laser surgery on his nose to remove scar tissue & increase the size of his passages. He'll have stints for a week - UGH! Then in a separate surgery he needs his testicles descended fully - they didn't quite make it all the way. Poor guy - both ends will be sore. Well I've got to go. I'm so tired & I have a feeling there will be no sleep tonight! Moriah & Alex (almost 17 months) email: geoffandmoriah@msn.com Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 02:56:07 (EST)) Hello from Helen&Amanda!! Well the sun is out today- not in the 70's of course-ha!ha! but its better than snow or rain. I'm finally getting things back to normal around here- almost caught up on the housework. Patty- Hope Jarin is better soon- poor little guy! Our weather has been the same- mild lately- nice isn't it!! Moriah-- Poor little Alex- it sees like you guys are constantly on a roller-coaster- more operations??? Hope he is feeling better today!! Great news on the trach!!!! Have you been to WW?? Hope your doing good--I'm sure I've gained since we've been on vacation and eating out everyday- can't wait to see the damage!! Amanda has 4-new teeth- all at once- remember she was grumpy and teething- I could feel big lumpy gums but no teeth for the longest time and all of a sudden 4 new teeth this week!!!! Now she has a total of 8. Well I should go- I hear Amanda jumping in her crib and the kids need to get up too- later!!!! She was really good and slept- we rented the stroller there since they are really big and can pile coats and packages on them, they also have double strollers! DS and DD went when they were 2&4 and again at 6&8 and they liked it both times but Dd doesn't remember the 1st time at 2yrs, but had fun just the same.If your planning to go- go ahead, she'll love it!! And by the way-- 'its a small world' is my favorite of all next to 'seuss landing'!!!! LOL! Later!! We spent the day at her house, had lunch and a little party with some of the family. It was really special. She got news last week that unless there's a major miracle, she only has a few months left due to cancer in her stomach and liver. (She's fought this off and on for 10 years!) Any way she felt great and really enjoyed the kids and it was super :) Beth- nice to see you here! So sorry about Allison's chin. That must have really hurt. Lisa B- great to hear Max is feeling better. Yikes- about the bite! Isaac used to get our shoulders too! Rita- Sounds exciting about your job! Amy sounds so cute (and grown up) walking and talking and climbing up on things! Patty- Healthy vibes to Jarin +~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ Moriah- Good to see you back. LOL, a 10 mo old, 17 mo old and 2 yr old are keeping me on my toes. and Patty - I AM INSANE!! I was thinking of babysitting a little one for extra cash but now I'm glad this is only for 2 weeks. We'll see how the rest of the time goes, maybe we just need to adjust. sigh. Patty and screaming monster boy - Sorry Jarin is sick. I know it's tough but enjoy the cuddles while you are getting them. lol. Hope he feels better soon and you stay sane until then. Moriah and amazing Alex, glad to see you back here! Congratulations Alex, I'm so proud of you! It sounds like he is doing great Moriah, and it sounds like you are very happy too. Way to go on working one day a week! How did you manage to convince them of that? Helen - let us know how it goes with weight watchers and feel free to pass any hints and tips my way. I could SURE use them these days! Sarahg, You're Grandmas party sounded wonderful. I'm sorry to hear she is not doing well. That must be so tough on you guys. Take Care. Well, off to the jungle for more crazy antics! Catch ya later. I'll try to get it scanned this week so I can mail it out over the weekend - just let me know if you want a copy. I was so mad at DH last night that I wasn't about to ask him how to use the scanner (he's decided that since I'm not vomiting or on IVs or in the hospital like I was with Max that I'm just being "lazy" and "milking it" and "taking advantage of my pregnancy to make him do everything"). This is DEFINITELY our last child unless he decides to grow up!!! In DH's defense - he just started a diet, just started getting allergy shots, and hasn't had sex for about a month so he's a little "on edge" (not that THAT excuses his comments at all). I really wish I had more time to spend on this board. The Internet police aren't a real threat (as they won't track Internet usage for my unit unless me or my boss request it - and we don't plan to). Our contracted employee who did all the stuff on our new computerized accounting system left Friday thou and I've taken over all her duties (BETH - be glad you opted out of AMS - workflow, security access requests, user-defined and self-generated reports, etc. are driving me BONKERS this week). It doesn't help that one employee went over the deep end last week and ended up being committed to a mental facility for almost a month for assaulting 3 police officers. Our legal staff are researching to see if we can fire him based on that (as a merit employee it'll be hard to get rid of him). I hate to fire anyone but this is his 2nd breakdown in a year and we have to look out for the safety of our staff. Then again, I hate to think what he'll do in retaliation as my boss and I would be the ones directly responsible for his dismissal, if it comes to that. Anyway, I've also had to pick up some of his work. I guess there's job security in all of this - LOL!!! HAYLEY: Too funny that all the kids had fits so you felt ok about Becca crying!!! I'm glad the trip went well. BETH: Hi, stranger. What are you doing abusing that adorable little girl of yours? She sounds so adorable diapering her doll! PATTY: Sorry Jarin is being Mr. Whiny Butt. After a week of that with Max (with DH gone out of town, of course) I was so relieved when he finally returned to normal this weekend. MORIAH: Good luck returning to work. I'm sure it'll be hard after being off for over a year, esp. as you've probably NEVER been away from Alex for 8+ hours at a time. I'm sure the extra money will be nice. Will you be able to get insurance or anything as you'll only be part-time. I hope Alex feels better soon and avoids the ER. Yeah on Alex doing so well with having his trach capped. Poor little guy will probably just get over whatever bug he has now in time for his surgeries. Will they do the 2 surgeries together or are they separate? I STILL haven't gotten pictures taken for my pg announcements - at the rate I'm going I might have to skip them and just have zany cards do to birth announcements. SarahG: It sounds like your Grandma has a lot of spirit and a great attitude, which really helps in a situation like hers. KATY: I hope you get good news on grad school soon! MICHELLE: I admire you with 3 little ones. When Max was a few months old I watched him and the little boy at daycare that is about 6 months older than Max. I only had them for 1/2 hour while the sitter ran an error and I was literally ready to pull my hair out by the time she got back. I'm hoping it's easier when both kids are mine - or I'll be truly insane in about 7 months!!!! SARAH: Welcome back!!!! I've been so busy I realize you, Moriah, Birdie, etc. hadn't posted for awhile but never had time to ask where you were. BTW, A lady at PT's Mom's Talk said she recently met Rebecca and Paige (Sarah - Alex's Mom - for some of you old timers, she used to post at BT). She said Paige was adorable - full of energy and into everything and extremely friendly! LisaB & Max (18 mo) & 11 weeks pg email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 14:40:51 (EST)) Julianne here w/ mostly crayon free walls. My poor mom thought she had let Colton scribble on the walls yesterday since I had forgotten to point it out to her. She used old fashioned elbow grease and got most of it off!!! I will have to finish up the rest. Colton has learned how to catch a ball! He was showing off for us this moring with my mom. He gets so excited and claps and laughs when he catches it. I just wanted to sit there and play catch with him instead of going to work. LisaB: Sounds like Max is better as he was wiggling his butt for you. How cute. Hayley: I spent a summer in Tahoe--beautiful. I did an internship at Ceasers. It was the most fun I have ever had--80 college students in a new condo building. Got a killer tan too. I cried when I first got there because it was snowing (in May!) My parents had to UPS some of my warmer clothes to me. Yeah for such a fun vacation. Beth: Sorry Allison got so many boo-boos. Ouch! Rita: Isn't is scary how Amy has no fear when it comes to climbing. Colton completely trusts us to catch him when he jumps off the couch. I am so afraid I am not going to be paying attention and he is going to get hurt bad. Patty: Hope Jarin feels better soon and that your new student is a sweetheart. Thanks for asking about my brother. He is doing better. Moriah: Good luck going back to work. Hope you get to do more from home. Did you get to avoid the ER last night--sure hope so. Yeah for such great progress with his trach. Sorry to hear about the surgeries in April. Helen: Wow, 4 teeth at once. SarahG: Sorry to hear about your Grandma. It was nice that she was able to have such fun with all the kids on her birthday. Sarah: Glad that you are back. I was wondering if we'd see you on here today or not. Julianne and Colton 19 mo email: jjones@batts.com Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 14:42:10 (EST)) Rebecca here... Well, as LisaB told you I got to meet Sarah with Alex and Cindy with Michael. We met at the park and rode the minature train. Paige was barely around (dh went with me to keep an eye on her). Alex was such a cutie. It wasn't until we were about to leave that he was running around and playing. Michael is 9 months and is so sweet. He watched the kids playing with such interest! We had to leave early since Paige was soaked (jumping in puddles) and was getting pretty tired. Good news, it looks like we may have found a new place to move. It's a townhouse in a family complex right across the street from shopping. It's three bedrooms and more than twice as big as our apartment. Of course, three bedrooms mean we can start to TTC in a few months. We're just waiting to hear back from the housing board. Keep your fingers crossed, I have totally fallen in love with the place. Sorry I haven't kept up with the posts. I have been on the go everyday for the last week. It's pouring outside so this week should be quieter. Hope all of you are doing well and if there's any new pics floating around out there send them my way. Julianne - Thank you so much for the picture of Colton. It was such a nice surprise to get mail that wasn't a bill! Colton looks so handsome. The train overalls are so cute. Rebecca & Paige email: burn@canadawired.com Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at 14:59:53 (EST)) OK, I'm back on now...SARAH here. I just vaguely skimmed posts, so this post will be mostly selfish. Well, as far as our trip goes.... Thursday we were supposed to leave Denver at 11:00am, and was delayed an hour cause they were trying to get people to get off the plane cause there was too much weight?? (never heard that one before). So we got to Minneapolis and were supposed to have a 3 hour layover. The weather was horrible (fog) so all flights were cancelled to Green Bay until Friday night at 7:00pm!!! Well, we had to be to the rehearsal dinner at 6:30. So we ended up staying in Minnesota Thursday night, and renting a car to drive to Green Bay on Friday. We got there around 3pm (still NO luggage, and had no idea where it was..) We made it to the rehearsal dinner (still in the same clothes for 2 days!!!), and our luggage finally made it in late Friday night (which was a good thing, cause we...all of the bridesmaids...still didn't have our dresses.) The wedding was beautiful, and the reception was a blast! Then on Sunday, we were supposed to leave G.B. at 2:45pm, we board the plane and they announce there is a hydrolic leak under the plane, and the flight was cancelled!!! The next plane out was at 11:30pm. So DH was able to get us booked on a different airlines, and we made it home by 8:30pm. Remember, I was already stressed out about flying, and then to have all of these delays and cancellations!!! Moral of the story...DON'T FLY NORTHWEST AIRLINES!!!!! They didn't do anything to compensate us for our delays or cancellations. Unbelievable. Another thing that sucked is DH and I were using this as a little vacation to spend some time alone together. Well, we ended up getting time together for about 2 hours on Friday night!! :( That's it! Well, I'm getting long-winded, and who knows if this whole little story makes sense to you all. I missed HANNAH like crazy, but she did just fine. You could tell she was so happy yesterday when she saw us for the first time!!!! She just smiled at us ALL DAY, and gave us kisses and hugs without us even asking. She kept coming up to me and hugging my legs!! :) I love her so much!!! Just a few personals: ROMAINE - I will keep LEANNE in my prayers. How's she doing? HELEN - Glad you had a good trip! BETH - Poor little ALLISON! Hope her mouth is okay! MORIAH - Sorry ALEX is sick! :( Great news about his trach being capped!!! :) You'll be in my thoughts and prayers with the upcoming surgeries! How's RACHEL? Oh, and thanks for the kind words about STUART (my cousin) and JEN (my friend)! Talk to you all tomorrow! We went to the Dr today and because he was sick, they wouldn't do his "well baby" check. Insurance reasons. How ridiculous is that? Our stupid insurance won't pay for a well baby check, but they'll pay if he gets sick. Anyway, so I still don't know how much Jarin weighs or how tall he is. The Dr said that he is wheezing, so we've upped the breathing treatments to 3-4 times a day instead of twice. =( Jarin is being a HUGE whiner - I think today was almost worse than yesterday except for he took a 3 hour nap - and as much as I love my little monster, I can't tell you how glad I was to have some peace!!! I even took a walk when DD got home so I could have some time to myself (and it was 65 again here today=)). I sure hope he starts to feel better soon. His poor little nose just runs like a faucet but his cough seems better with the added treatments. Dr. said to use the cough as the determination for how many treatments he needs. Since DD has had asthma for 11 years, I'm pretty comfortable making that decision. **Moriah: Yay for Mr. Amazing!! I'm so glad he's doing so well with the trach being capped. And good for you getting your old job back part time! =) That's also got to make it easier on you knowing that MIL will be watching Alex. I'm sorry to hear he is sick and facing more surgeries. He continues to be in my prayers, along with all of your family. **Helen: Wow - 4 new teeth! I was thinking exactly what you wrote - only 8 teeth? LOL. I thought maybe Jarin had too many. I'm glad to hear he and Amanda are pretty close in that area. Jarin has 14 teeth. **Sarahg: Glad you had such a nice time with your grandma. I'm sure it was very special for her. Thanks for the healthy vibes - let's hope they work overnight. =) **Katy: Good luck with the graduation plans and the grad school admission. =) **Michelle: OK, so I'm not the only one who would be insane with extra kids. LOL. My screaming monster boy is still, well, screaming. hee hee. No actually he's in bed for the night. **LisaB: Send pics of Max my way when you get them. Sorry to hear DH is not being very sympathetic. Men should really have to be pg at least once. I will be very glad when Jarin is back to himself! **Juliane: Hey, can your mom come clean my walls too???? Too cute that Colton plays catch. Jarin tries, but we basically just drop the ball in his hands. **Rebecca: Good luck getting the new place. Sounds like you kinda like it. LOL. That's great you got to meet Sarah and the other mom - Cindy? I remember Sarah and Alex. **Sarah: I was going to ask which airline you flew after reading all that and then I saw the end of your post. We ended up sitting on a flight for an hour one time while they tried to clean up a problem with a toilet!! Glad you had fun at the wedding and that Hannah was so happy to see you. =) **Christi: Good news about your mom - yay! That's neat you are teaching the kids sign language. I teach my Kindergarteners the alphabet, but that's about as far as I ever get. Gotta get to bed so I can get up in the morning. Another fun meeting before school. (Big time sarcasm). We always end up getting out late, the kids are already in our classrooms, and I spend the rest of my day feeling behind. Oh well, such is life I guess, right??? Have a great Wednesday everyone!
