Toddlers Today's MomsTalk Archive Hello Everyone, DH and I just finished tidying up the house and Evan was playing Reader Rabbit on the computer so when he was done I thought I'd just check in before I shut it off. I went to my folk art painting class on Friday night and it was great! My next one is next Friday and I'm really looking forward to it. It's nice to do something for just yourself every once in a while. Riley has slept through the night for 3 nights in a row now! YAY! I'm so excited. He actually slept in until nine this am too. WOW. I think it is because I am trying to wean him (nursing still) and am only feeding him before bed and in the am so maybe he doesn't think about it when he wakes up in the middle of the night anymore and just goes back to sleep. Patty - I feel for you with the sleep thing. I think you are doing the right thing though and I know it is hard but it'll get better. It is already it sounds like. Birdie - HOW SWEET! If I had a little girl we'd be after NOAH. I had to laugh at the doll story. Riley has a doll to but he is very nice to it, kisses, cuddles etc. HOWEVER... that is one minute - the next is is a crazy man and not sweet at all! Boys, what can ya do? Sarah - How is Hannah doing after her fall? Have a good week-end everyone! Michelle and Riley email: mwells@telusplanet.net Sunday, January 16, 2000 at 15:01:41 (EST)) Hello from LauraB- It's been a week and boy I thought I would never catch up with everyone. Sounds as if there are alot of flu bugs out there, and alot of DH's that are not being good and a few that are trying. I guess I am lucky when it comes to medicine because Shane loves to take it. Especially when it is grape flavored. I also read that if your child needs to take a prescription medicine that sometimes the pharmacy can add a flavor to it all you need to do is ask. Shane is being such a good boy lately and we are working on getting rid of the pacifier. He only gets it at nap time or bed time. Maybe if we associate it with sleeping he won't like it anymore. Well on to personals. HAYLEY- Congrats on the negative biopsy KELLI- Congrats on your pregnancy. Hope you are feeling well. LOUISE - I had a c-section after being in labor for over 24 hrs and I know DH would say I had the hardest part. JULIANNE - I too add to the spoiled boy when sick cycle. So I guess I should put up with DH a little better huh :-) JULS, MARHA - Welcome. I am a SAHM, 33 yrs old and my son Shane is 14 months old. CHRISTI - I lost my thumbnail about a year ago and after the first day it didn't really hurt at all. Then last year Shane dropped a frame on his toe and lost his big toe nail and after the initial crying it didn't bother him at all. Hope you are feeling better. SUE- Hope you did ok out in the snow :-) MORIAH - Sending some healthy vibes out to you and hoping your family feels better. Love to all the mommies and babies LauraB@Shane 14 months email: xxbryant@aol.com Sunday, January 16, 2000 at 15:51:44 (EST)) I know, I know. I've been gone for a while. I'm just at my parents and checking in while they're at WalMart. I missed everyone greatly and have been having severe withdrawls. Dh has even accused me of being a B***h!!! But thanks to those who have continued to e-maiil me. I can only check my mail occasionally, but I do read the mail, even if I'm unable to reply. In case you haven't guessed yet, it's long lost Crystal and Darrel. I found out that I am not pg. I didn't have a missed miscarriage or anything like that. My hormones are just out of wack. I'm trying several herbs to try to get my monthly visits back. Darrel is doing well. And potty training is underway. Darrel loves his potty and will sit on it for a good ten to fifteen minutes before he wants off. Darrel went potty twice the first day and has even done #2 on his potty. He's starting to try to pull his pants up and down and even tries to pull his diaper down when he wants to go potty or is wet. However, the only day he'll go potty is on Saturdays. Any other day he'll sit on it and play with it but only on Saturdays he will do anything. At least that's a start. He gets real excited, too. I'll be in the middle of reading a book to him or blowing bubbles for him, and he'll start clapping and say "Yeah" and just get real excited because he went potty. Darrel really understands a lot and follows directions very well. I can give him two or three step directions, and he does it. there may be something on the floor, and I'll tell him to go get it and bring it to mommy, and he does it. I am now of legal drinking age. I turned 21 on the 4th of January. The coolest thing is a friend of mine had twins on my birthday. However, the saddest thing is one of the twins did not make it. My friend is taking it very hard and has a hard time taking care of her surviving child. She had to literally be carried away from the grave after the baby was buried yesterday. Please pray for my friend. No one knows what else to do. It's so hard to see a friend so depressed and not know what to do or what to say. If anyone has any advice, please let me know, either via e-mail or this board. I will be back in about two weeks if I don't have a phone. Otherwise, it will be a lot sooner. The other twin is doing very well. Well, I have so much to say but not enough time to say it. I will be back on the 28, if not sooner. Hope no one thinks that I'm a slacker and that I can still be considered a part of the board even after going AWOL. That's it for now. I'll post more later. And I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and a wonderful 1999. Not much going on here today- DH is in bed and Amanda is still awake, same for DD, DS is sleeping at a friends. CRYSTAL- Glad to hear your still around! Sorry about your PG test being negative, how dissappointing. :O( Sorry about your friends baby, thats so sad, I really don't know how people deal with such despair, hope she gets through this ok. :O( Darrel is a smart little cookie w/the potty training, I am going the traditional path and waiting until Amanda is 2-ish and starting then, I rermember too well looking for bathrooms everywhere we went with only seconds to spare, not fun. Hope your herbal remedies gets your AF comming regular again- take care! BIRDIE-- Noah is such a cutie--- how is that fluffy hair???? Still out of control??LOL! I forgot that you worked out of your home, can you make your own hrs? or do you have to go to an office some days?? PATTY- Hope Jarin is sleeping for you! Well should go and get everyone in bed--its 10:20 and I NEED my beauty sleep--LOL!! BIGS HUGS AND CONGRATS! I admire you and all of those mommies who can make 2 or more this close. This was my dream but I guess I am (and dh too) too chicken (yet) to do it. Wow.. I remember chatting with you when we were both pregnant at PT. Can't believe how time is flying and there you are preggo again! Enjoy it friend! and let us know back at BT what's going on once in a while! Love to ya all Sonata and Eray 9 months Monday, January 17, 2000 at 05:11:02 (EST)) Hi, Louise here. Hope everyone is well this Monday morning (ugh) and the flu bugs are fading. James and I had a quiet weekend, DH was away, I should have planned more stuff but was really tired and didn't get round to it, as a result it's quite nice to get into work and have some adult conversation - about the only time I have ever felt like that since I had James! Can you believe I still never managed to successfully send the extra photos of James that I was meaning to, I must be up for the techno-idiot of the millenium award, I can't think what I'm doing wrong, but anyway you'll have to live without seeing me with my monster boy for a while! MORIAH & DEBBIE - there is one photo which for some reason will go through and I'll send that tonight. Thanks to everyone else for compliments. SUE - I think our DH's should get together to discuss their post traumatic stress disorders - I'm sure they'd have LOADS to talk about! No doubt they'd be competing to outdo each other on suffering LOL!! MORIAH - I love that serious look of concentration they get when they jabber away! James wanders round the house with his phone (or ours when he can get his hands on it) clamped to his ear, looking really intense as if he's buying and selling on the stock exchange. I love it. BIRDIE - Noah sounds like the perfect gentleman!! Re the sharing issue - I'd also love to hear any ideas, in my (limited) experience there doesn't seem to much you can do at this stage, they're still too much in the 'me' stage - and apparently are for some time to come! Just out of interest, do you have someone watch Noah while you work? I have a friend who works from home but fits her schedule around when her daughter sleeps or works at night - sounds very hard to me. PATTY - So James and Jarin really ARE twins!! I'd love to see Jarin. Sounds like the night times are improving - James has been much better lately too but he's unpredictable, you never know when he's going to backslide! The crying is so heartbreaking at night - it ruins any sleep I might get that night, even when he goes back to sleep! LYNDA - sorry to hear you're ill too. Isn't it funny (well annoying actually!) how men can only concentrate on one thing - my DH is the same, he's great about letting me have lie-ins and time off etc, but, without sounding like the most anal person alive, sometimes it doesn't seem worth it because of the chaos I know I'll come down too! I breastfed James for 9 months and also gave up the morning feed last - I was surprised at how well he adjusted to the evening feed being a bottle, he'd go for my boob but once he got the bottle in his mouth he was fine. He's been used to supplementary bottles from an early age though, I guess Ella must be too because of daycare. CRYSTAL - nice to hear from you. Louise & James email: rnash78035@aol.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 08:37:06 (EST)) Happy Monday (groan) from Christi Well, Now I feel worse than I did on Friday, but what does it matter, because I still have to be a mommy, so grin and bear it. Dh is complaining again too, so I still don't get to be sick when he gets home. Since we have been inside doing nothing this week-end I guess I will move on to personals. I vow never to get behind again, what a pain to catch up :-) SARAH***Glad Hannah is okay after her fall. Caleb got 4 shots at his 15 month (they gave them early) I am not sure what ones, I will look them up later and let you know. BIRDIE*** I hope things look up for your family soon! I am at a loss to teach Caleb about sharing. He too just goes and takes what he wants. I would normally say tell the bigger kids to just let him, because they can understand, but when they are the same age I dont know. I bet Noah looked so cute for his 'date'!! JULIANNE*** Sorry your hair didn't turn out how you like. MORIAH*** Hope your house is healthy soon!! ROMAINE*** Sorry you had to be in the hospital for nothing, I hope you can hold out until your app't. MICHELLE*** Riley has a big vocabulary!! PATTY*** We are a private preschool, and she is the director, she thinks whatever we do is a direct reflection on her. She has had several people make "rude" comments about us having to resort to fundraisers etc. I just know I dont want to be in the place to find someone to replace her! LAURA*** Caleb has not lost his nail yet, so maybe he won't. It doesn't seem to bother him, thank goodness! CRYSTAL*** Good to hear from you, I have been wondering about you. Sorry about not being pg, I hope AF returns to normal soon. So sad about your friends baby, they will be in my prayers. Well, I think I may be cought up, finally. I guess Caleb is going to get up early, I can hear him upstairs, so...... I just want to thank MICHELLE, PATTY, LYNDA, and CHRISTI for their kind words on HANNAH falling!!! She's doing great! She is really starting to talk in long jibberish sentences. She's always talked alot, but now it's like she's really having conversations with us! Too cute! :) MORIAH - Sorry you guys have been sick!!! Hope you all get better soon!!! I'm still thinking about RACHEL! MICHELLE - Like I said above, HANNAH is doing the same jibber jabber RILEY is doing. Isn't it cute?? KATY - Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear LIAM had the flu. HANNAH's had it twice, and it's the absolute worst thing in the world!!! BIRDIE - My fellow tootsie roll addict!!! LOL I love tootsie rolls and eat them all of the time! YEA for NOAH drinking out of his sippy cup! PATTY - Thank you so much for the info on the shots! I was wondering if anyone was going to respond to that! :) LYNDA - Again, thanks for the concern on HANNAH!:) CRYSTAL - Good to hear from you! Sorry you weren't pregnant...everything happens for a reason (I truly believe!) Happy belated birthday...you young girl!!! Sorry to hear about your friend!! CHRISTI - Thanks for your thoughts on HANNAH and the info on the shots (how many CALEB had!) Well, that's all for now! Hope you all have a great day! Sarah and Hannah (16 months) email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 10:26:45 (EST)) Hello, this is Birdie. Noah is dancing to teletubbies right now. He just loves dancing and spinning. We have him entertain whenever people come over. It is so cold here and extremely windy. I keep expecting the power to go out. We finally have snow, and tons of it. We took Noah out in his sled last night. He had so much fun. It was great and he was very excited. He is totally using his sippy cup all the time now. It happened so fast. He doesn't even take a bottle at bed time. He has seemed perfectly content to just drink from his cup and go to bed. Should I give him at least one bottle at night? Is it too soon to be totally off the bottle? Am I going to mess him up later in life because it was so fast or should I just keep giving the cup and get rid of the bottles completely? He seems too little to have no bottle at all. I know 2 year olds who still have bottles. Any ideas??? Sarah- MMM Tootsie rolls. I think I need to brave the cold and go get some more. I especially love them with something salty. Back and forth kind of thing. A pringle, a tootsie roll, a pringle a tootsie roll. Christi- He was pretty cute on his date and he had so much fun. Parents are a little odd though. Not sure I want them to hook up for too long. HEHEHE Michelle- He really is a great catch and nice parents too!!! :) Helen- Oh yes, he still has fluffy blonde hair. I love it. It is laying down much more than before. I work technically 9-4 but actually I work before Noah gets up and then during his nap. Louise- Just me. I work before he gets up and during his naps. I go in to the office once or twice a week. It"s hard but very worth it. Take care. Birdie and Noah ( 13 months) email: LJU777@AOL.COM Monday, January 17, 2000 at 10:54:55 (EST)) Julianne here, bright and early on Monday morning. Once again, the weekend went by way too fast. We didn't do much. DH is feeling sick and just wanted to sleep. I wasn't very sympathetic and made him play with Colton. My FIL calls Colton his little TOAD because Colton is so small. Whenever we ask Colton what Grandpa calls him he says "Toad" in the cutest little voice. His talking is really taking off. We went for a drive yesterday and he looked out the window and said "snow" and then said "plow" when we were behind a truck that had a back plow. Both DH & I were amazed at how he spoke without any prompting. His favorite thing to do all weekend was to give Dh the harmonica ("na-na") and have DH blow it while he chased him all through the house as he rode on his motorcycle. I told DH that Colton was practicing for being a director for chase scenes in movies! One thing that I forgot to mention about Colton's doctor visit was that the doctor said he heard a slight heart murmur, but that it sounded like a harmless one that many kids have and that it should go away and not to worry about it. Sure, not worry. LOL Colton slept through the night last night w/ just a little fussing. We fixed his lullaby toy that lights up and plays if you press it and set that in his crib. When he fussed he must have crawled over to it and started it because I heard it go off. He was quiet in just a few minutes. Yeah!!! Let's hope this continues. Birdie: Glad your family is doing well amongst all the sickness and sadness going on around you. Yeah with the switch to the sippy cup. So cute about Noah's 1st date. Jennifer: Thanks for the picture. Adam looked so cute in the Santa hat. How did you get him to not take it off? Sarah: Poor Hannah falling on her head and your mom feeling so bad about it. Those little ones sure are quick when we aren't looking. I think Colton got just the MMR at his 15 mo check-up also. Sue: Did you and Cam have fun in the snow. I pulled Colton around in the sled for the first time and he was having fun and saying "weeee" until I dumped him out going around a corner! Darleen: Wow, Nolan having an eye infection and getting a shock. What a bad day for him! I carry outlet protectors w/ me and have had to use them in the dr's office and when visiting at the hospital! Moriah: STAY HEALTHY!!!! Romaine: Hope all goes well with your kidney stone. Ouch, sounds painful. Michelle: Yeah for Riley sleeping through the night. It is so much fun to hear the toddler jabberings. Katy: Hope things start looking up for your financially. Patty: I hear you on the middle of the night sobs. Lynda: Good luck on weaning Ella. Yeah for DH appreciating how hard it is watching an active toddler. Crystal: Glad that you had a chance to give us an update and that you and Darrel are doing well. Yeah for how good the p/t is going. Sorry to hear about the twin that died. I will pray for her. Ok, I am done now. Julianne & Colton 18 mo email: jjones@batts.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 10:57:39 (EST)) Hello from Helen&Amanda!! Before I forget-- Thanks CHRISTI for the pics--beautiful kids!!! This new computer is so fast its great- I spend only a couple minutes on here reading, posting and checking the e-mail!! The old one would take an hour or so to do all that- guesss we really needed to update! Its a holiday here today so no school- DH and DS went to a 'Bruins' game today and DD has a friend over. Amanda is napping, she was up last night for a little while, I wish she would stop that so we both would get non-stop sleep at night. She slept until 8:30 this AM b/c of it I'm sure. We have an appointment later today to see about getting a pool put in this spring so its ready for the heat when it hits- the kids missed not having one last summer since we had just moved in the spring, hope there's not a waiting list this early! Amanda will love it I'm sure! BIRDIE- Thats great that you get to stay at home w/Noah and make $$ too! CRYSTAL- Forgot to wish you a happy belated b-day!!!!!! Well should go and get more housework done- neverending! Helen&Amanda@17mos Monday, January 17, 2000 at 15:15:03 (EST)) Hello from Rita Well, today is actually a work holiday for me. DH had to work and we decided to send the girls next door for a while while I do some things around the house. It's eleven AM and I already have the roast in the crockpot and a heavenly smelling huge pot of pasta sauce on the stove. Laundry is done, maybe I can nap for a while. Amy is having some bad nights these days. I kept having to get up with her from midnight until around three. I sure hope that we can get back on track with her sleeping again, because I sure can't keep dragging these days. She did do very well without the bottle this weekend, so we are ready to make the switch. Now for the binky... Crystal - I am so glad to hear from you. Happy belated birthday. 21 is a great age - and not because of being able to drink. I hope that AF gets back on track soon. I cannot imagine your friend's loss - we'll keep her in our prayers. Sarah - Glad to hear that Hannah is okay. Our children are often more resilient than we know. I cannot count the times that Maddy has had similar things happen. She is finally more coordinated these days and we have less bruises and lumps. Well, I am going to sign off and get a bit more done around here before I go and get the girls. Take care everyone! Rita & Amy email: ritad@home.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 15:19:36 (EST)) I JINXED MYSELF! I said yesterday that Riley slept throught the night for 3 nights in a row, last night he got up at 2 a.m. and absolutely would not go back to sleep. URRGGH. Now we are all exhausted because he woke the whole house up! I feel sorry for poor dh because as it is he goes to work at 4:00 am so getting up at 2:00 is pretty rough. Hopefully we can all sleep for a bit this aft. BIRDIE - I think you were asking whether you should give Noah a bottle along with the cup - my personal suggestion, no! If you do you will just have to wean him from it later which may not be easy. If he likes his cup there is really no reason to give him the bottle. I was thinking the same thing of Riley - he won't take a bottle and I kept on trying but figured, why am I doing this? and quit! OK, little ones are griping - got to go! Michelle and Riley email: mwells@telusplanet.net Monday, January 17, 2000 at 15:39:46 (EST)) Rebecca here... Well, I've been pretty busy lately. On Friday I was complaining to DH about not having any snow yet so we hopped into the car and drove to Mt. Seymour with Paige. It was so silly it was fun! On Saturday we went swimming with a group of friends and their babies. Paige liked the kick boards! Yesterday my BIL and girlfriend came over. DH and brother went to a basketball game and Kay (the girlfriend) and I sat around and talked and laughed. She is such a wonderful person (nothing like his last girlfriend!!!). Today I'm going to try to have a lazy day but it is sunny and Paige would probably like to go to the park. We'll see how I feel this afternoon. I tried to skim the posts, but there are way too many. This week should be a little quieter so I'll try to get back again. Hugs and Kisses to all of you! Rebecca & Paige 14months email: burn@canadawired.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 16:03:40 (EST)) Hi mommies. Well, little monster boy, Jarin, is taking his nap again. He is sleeping so much better lately! He has been going down at night and crying for about 5 minutes (unless he falls asleep nursing) and then right to sleep. He usually wakes around 5 and cries for 10-15 minutes, but then goes back to sleep for another few hours. (I know, Michelle, I probably just jinxed myself too!!!) He has been sleeping 2-3 hours for naps and all of this sleeping has made him so much happier! =) I think between sleeping better and getting out of his daycare, he is just feeling so much better. I am so glad, since it makes ME feel so much better too. Jarin is also jibber-jabbering away. Today, he was constantly "talking", although I have no idea what he was saying. But it was too cute anyway. =) He also likes to put on my pumps and stomp anywhere in the house where we have linoleum. And the best part? Not matching pumps - always one green one and one purple one. LOL. DH got more sad news this week. ANOTHER state trooper was killed here. He was from the same graduating class as the one who was shot last April. That makes three from that class! This one was assisting a tow truck and another car slid on the ice, hit his police car, and then hit him. He held on for a couple days at the hospital, but had no brain activity and died 22 minutes after they took him off of the ventilator. He was only 24 (25 yesterday) and his wife is 21 and six months pregnant with their first child. =( Please keep them in your prayers. On to the personals: **LisaB: Where are you today? Have you heard any more about the meeting of the BT board people in Chicago? **Birdie: Ahhhh, Noah sounds sooooo cute dressed up for his date, the flowers etc. Hope you got lots of pictures. LOL at him carrying the doll by the leg. I also love Tootsie Rolls, but can't eat them so often anymore because of the TMJ problems. Since you like tootsie rolls and pringles, here's my favorite - m&m's and pretzels! MMMMMMMM. I would love to take Jarin sledding, but so far we haven't had any snow. We're supposed to get 1-2 inches tonight, so we'll see. I say if Noah's happy without the bottle, don't give it to him. My DD took until almost 3 to take it away and it was h*ll. **Lynda: Hope you feel better soon. Good for DH spending the day with Ella and LOL at him being exhausted. **Michelle: Your painting class sounds like fun. I might like to do that if I had any talent. LOL. Sorry to hear you jinxed Riley's three nights in a row - I probably just did the same. Hey, you mean Debbie and I aren't the only ones still bfing? Jarin bfs three times - morning, nap, and bedtime. **Crystal: Good to hear from you. How awful about your friend and the twins. I hope that she can just focus on the surviving twin and try to spill all her love into taking care of that one. Happy Belated Birthday! **Helen: Jarin is sleeping better, thanks for asking. I'm jealous your computer is so fast. We updated, but it still takes me about an hour to read and post each day. **Louise: I had a quiet weekend too and didn't do anything but lay around. Sometimes it's nice to be able to do that. I know what you mean about them sleeping unpredictably. I keep waiting for "the other shoe to drop" and Jarin to start waking again. I didn't know you'd never seen Jarin. Beward - pics are on the way. Now you can see the two "monster boys" together. LOL **Christi: Hope you feel better quickly too. I can't believe people would be rude about a private school having fundraisers. I thought that Private schools meant having lots of fundraisers. I don't mean that negatively - I went to a Catholic School for 12 years and we were ALWAYS trying to raise money. **Sarah: Isn't the jibberish the cutest thing? I love listening to Jarin's "conversations". They just make me laugh. **Julianne: So cute about your little "toad". I hope he continues to sleep well for you. About the heart murmur - our Dr. thought she heard one when Jarin was one month, but she didn't tell us since we had just gone through the MRI for his spine and she knew I would freak out. Then at 2months, she still thought she heard something, so we had an EKG (?) and a chest X-ray and everything came out normal. **Rita: I hope Amy starts sleeping better for you at nights. I sure can relate to how tired you must feel. **Rebecca: Good to hear from you again. Sounds like you had a fun week-end. Hope you continue to feel better. =) **Take care everyone. Hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was ok, but until things are all settled with dh (staying or going) it's a little weird around here. Saturday my mom and I went to the mall. We took Isaac ice skating. It was a blast. I don't hardly know how to skate, but nobody fell! That was the best part. That morning had been so irritating- dh, my dad, my brother were all watching the playoff football game and Isaac was craving attention from them. While I was getting lunch ready, Isaac was bouncing around on my dad's lap, then he fell and hit his head really hard on the wooden arm of the chair. He got a goose egg and a big bruise. It was horrible. Then, we had gotten attacked by ants in the kitchen that morning, so my mom had sprayed ant spray on the floor. The spray was very oily and I slipped fell flat on my face. It happened so fast, I had no time to catch myself at all. It was such a yucky morning, it was almost comical! Just a few quick personals, as I better go do some housework before my babies wake up! Patty- Way to go Jarin! Sleep is good! Michelle- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~zzzzzzzzz~~~~~~~~~~~ sleepy vibes for Riley!! Good luck on a better night! Rita- Sounds like a great day! How very nice! Ditto on the sleepy vibes for Amy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~zzzzzzzzz~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Helen- Hope your plans for a pool work out. Sounds great!! Julianne- Men are the BIGGEST babies, I don't blame you for not being very sympathetic. How exciting when your little guy is saying all those new words! Birdie- Yay for spinning to the teletubbies! I think if Noah is content w/o the bottle, go with it! Isaac weaned from breastfeeding and the bottle at 13 months and it went fine. Enjoy the nice transition. :) Sarah g , Isaac, and Sofia email: gat_men@hotmail.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 18:28:50 (EST)) Oops! I hit post accidentally! I meant to add- Crystal- Welcome back!! We have no idea why, he would go to sleep, but wake up crying, so I finally brought him into our bed, and made DH sleep in the spare bed. Nolan is such a bed hog. Around 2am I put him in his own bed, I couldn't stand being kicked any more so I woke up Dh and told him he could come and sleep in our bed. Nolan slept all night, but I could hear him whine once in a while. Not sure what's up! Poor guy! Today neither Nolan nor I were feeling the greatest. I must have worried Dh, because he came home for the afternoon and worked here while Nolan and I slept. I had blurred vision, and numbness in my face and fingers. I used to get it when I was pregnant for Nolan, and hadn't got it since until today. I'm fine now. Anyways, Nolan is starting to say a few words, he repeats animals when we say them. He moows, oinks, and says duck, but won't quack. He is quite entertaining right now. Nolan loves music, and loves to dance. His favorite show on T.V, is Jeopardy because of the music. He dances the whole 1/2 hour it is on. Who knows, he might even know some of the answers. HAHA! He also loves Shania Twain. His favorite kids show is Sharon, Lois, & Bram (Skinnamirink T.V) with Ella & Coycat. Crystal-Sorry to hear about your friend losing a twin. Just give her lots of love and support! Julieanne- I am thinking seriously about caring outlet covers with me, especially when we go to our parents house. Stupid parents sometimes! They should know better, but of course nothing happens to any other child so why worry about Nolan trying things that nobody else thought of. For those of you who don't have snow enjoy it, I wish I lived where you do. Nolan hates it too! Thankgoodness for this year. Have a good day or night! Darleen & Nolan 14 mths email: j7smith@ciaccess.com Monday, January 17, 2000 at 22:28:52 (EST)) Hi, Romaine and Saba here! Saba is just spewing words! She has said a couple of 3 word sentences now!!! She still talks lots of nonsense as well (that sounds like it is something, but in a foreign language!). She has a few phrases that she uses a lot, but we still have no idea what they mean! Saturday was VERY busy, chasing back and forth between the wedding and funeral. DH was MC at the wedding and did an EXCELLENT job- I was so proud of him!!!! A big get well to all you "sickies" and sick toddlers!!!! I lost track of who was all ill!!! Get well vibes out to you!!! Birdie-Yah Noah!!! I agree, if he is happy w/ the cup, don't go back! Saba was bottle weaned at that age b/c she did not care. I HOPE that she is not damaged by it-LOL! I do the same w/ Saba and sharing. i expalin that she can look or play w/ it after the other is done. She CONSTANTLY takes toys fromDD2, b/c DD2 can't fight back! In another month or so, I know that DD2 will be shreiking when Saba does it! She gives her a LOOK right now! Patty-It is so hard to listen to your child cry...but we all know that sometimes we have to! (not that it makes it easier!). What a tragic story!!! That poor woman! She is in my prayers!!! Michelle-I was going to say Yay for Riley sleeping well!! Sorry that it jinxed! I'd send you the sleep fairy, but I really would like her to help DD2.:) She has not been going down well at all!!!:( Crystal- Glad that you are ok though! I hope that you get your hormones straightened out! How terrible for your friend. A similar thing happened to a girl here. She went 38 weeks w/ her twins. Both heartbeats were fine a few days b4 she had them, but something happened to the one twin between seeing her doctor and giving birth. I don't know what. Your friend is in my prayers. 21? I feel really old now-LOL! Good for Darrel!!!! What did you do? Helen- I am so glad to hear about your pt plans. I am feeling like I have done something wrong b/c Saba is not in training. She is not even interested!!:( How fun to have a pool-where do you live? Christi-Thanks! I hope that it holds on to the appt as well and that we can do someting! Julianne-How hard not to worry!!! How long does it take to "go away"? Sarah g-Poor Isaac and you!! A black and blue pair. Darleen-I hope that you have a better night w/ Nolan! Romaine and Saba 22 mos email: rrantry@yahoo.ca Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 00:27:08 (EST)) Hi everyone, selfish post ahead!! It's just so late, I will catch up on personals tomorrow. I was reading Crystal's post and am very suprised and proud of Darrel's potty training!! Adam takes no interest in what he is doing (or making!) when he is going in his diaper yet. He's starting to say more words...car, duck, Grampa, binki, milk, stuff like that. He has this funny thing he does, instead of saying "no" he says "up". When he doesn't want something, he says "up" and stomps his feet. I have no idea where he learned this, but it is so funny! If someone is looking at him and he doesn't like it, he'll frown, crunch up his eyebrows and say "up". He's crazy. Well, I am busily looking for employment...no luck because I have noone to watch Adam during the day, I can only work evenings and I can't work on Fri and Sat at all. I really have to work around my parents' schedules since the watch Adam for me after they get home. Noone is hiring for evenings, and the retail shops that normally would, won't hire me because I can't work Fri and Sat...the two busiest days of the week. I'm SOL. Well, gotta go now, take care all and I wil see all of you soon! Jennifer and Adam 17mo email: ddock@gte.net Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 01:49:32 (EST)) Hey everyone! Elizabeth is jabbering like crazy! Her latest phrase is, "Oh Nuts!" She was watching one of her Veggie Tales and one of the characters said that and she adopted it. It's so cute. She says it so plainly, too. Her favorite toy as of late are her leggo's! We got her a little leggo desk type thing and she loves to build! I've been REALLY tired the past couple days! And my emotions are a wreck. Must be those wonderful pregnancy hormones... already- yikes! Yesterday, a ham and cream cheese bagel sandwich (and this is something that I don't usually eat!) sounded really good so we went out to Einstein Bros. Bagels and I ordered one... only to hear that they were out of ham! That's all I wanted was a stupid ham/chs. bagel. I didn't know what else to order, so I let DH order and I didn't get anything. I almost cried over a bagel! My eye's even welled up w/ tears. I felt SOOOOO rediculous! So, I finally decided I wanted a turkey and cheese sandwich... guess what... they were out of turkey! Oh well. So much for a craving! I did 6 loads of laundry today but that's it! I just lazed around... and read to Elizabeth all day. I have been feeling SOOO worn out! I feel like I didn't get much accomplished. Okay, on to the posts... These may be a little dated, but I haven't had a chance to catch up on today's posts... sorry! Sonya, Welcome! Lynda, How's Ella feeling? I hope you get to feeling better soon! Isn't it nice when DH's finally realize how tough of a job mother hood is? My Dh now tells me and everyone else that being a mother is the most important, most difficult, yet most rewarding job on earth. He's right! Louise, JAMES IS SOOO cute!!!!! Keep me on the picture list... I'd love to see more. CathyG, That's so sad about your neighbor's fire! That's just so scary! Christi, How is Caleb's thumb? Hope it's getting better! LisaB, Elizabeth fights sometimes when I'm getting her dressed. She likes to throw her head back. Elizabeth used to love medicine. I used to be able to just say the word and she'd come running and say, "oh yeah!" Not anymore! I really think it's a "power" thing with her now. I've mixed it with yogurt lately and she doesn't seem to notice. I've had those round ligament pains for a week now. I have forgotten alot about being preg. w/ Elizabeth... but it all seems to be coming back to me. I'm ready for the 2nd semester, though. SarahM, OUCH!!! Poor Hannah! I know your mom just felt terrible, but like someone else said, those things happen! How's Hannah doing? GO HANNAH- You're at a good start if she knows where the potty is. At Eliz. 15 mos appt. Elizabeth got her last dtp and another (can't remember on the top of my head- sorry!) but, I do know that she's done with shots until school time! Yea! Birdie, Sounds like you're going through alot right now with all the sicknesses int he family! I hope you are doing okay! That is SOOOO cute that you dressed Noah up for the play date. He can play with Elizabeth anytime! Good for Noah mastering the sippy cup! Rita, I hope all your worries go away! Are you getting your much needed sleep? You need an official "Rita Day"! Julianne & Toad (aka Colton), I'm sure it felt good to sleep in! Elizabeth didn't wake up until 9:30 am a few days last week. I needed that extra sleep! I'd complain to your hair dresser if I were you! They may do what you want for free! I had a friend go in for highlights and when it was done, it didn't look like they did a thing. She complained and they re-did it for free plus gave her another appt. free. Jennifer & Adam, I sure hope I can find a hair place specifically for kids. I've looked in the phone book and didn't have any luck. Are you oadn DH trying for a baby? Darleen, I too can't believe that the Dr. office didn't have their office child-proofed. What were they thinking! I'd say something! Moriah, I hope you all are feeling better! How's Alex doing? How's ZandyCards? Keeping you busy? Romaine, YOu say you had a stone... A kidney stone? I've heard those are as painful as childbirth!!! Elizabeth and this baby will be 26 months apart. Michelle, sounds like you had a busy Fri. nite. Glad you enjoyed your painting class. Katy, how are your classes going? How many are you taking this sememster? Helen, we need a new computer too. We bought this one 3 years ago and it was pretty up to date then. Now, it's "old". DH tells me that we are going to get a new one in a couple months. It's amazing how fast technology is these days! Patty, I LOL aobut your DH's comment on "follicly challenged". Too funny! I hope you enjoyed your 3 day weekend! Sounds like Jarin is sleeping good for you... or atleast on to a good trend. Crystal, good to hear back from you. I was beginning to wonder how you were doing. Well ladies, I better go. I still need to pop in over at PT. I'm tired, so I may just say hello. You guys have a good Tuesday! Take care! Kelli & Elizabeth, 18 months email: rkncs@aol.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 02:07:09 (EST)) hi from the long-lost-stranger, aka LisaB. Things have been so busy at work that I only have time to read ... not to post. My old boss got fired Friday as the division director "wasn't happy with her". Unfortunately I'm currently on "probation" with my new job until they create a "merit" position for it ... and then I'm on probation with the merit position for 6 months. Thus - NO job security for a year and this stupid deadline STILL looming over my head. I ended up working yesterday, the second "volunteer" day in 2 weeks (I'm at too high of a position to get comp time). Like I told DH, we were planning on me becoming a SAHM after #2 was born (before this promotion and huge raise) so it'll not like we can't afford it if I get fired ... but I want to resign vs get fired. So far the division director is full of praises for me, but I've seen how fast that can change so I'm getting stressed over this deadline. Anyway, if I skip anyone in my responses or don't get back much this week it's because I'm slaving away here at work! Max has 2 new words - hello and truck!!! He's also starting to pull on his diapers when they need to be changed. I got an e-mail from Megan. Ben is doing great - 4 teeth, walking, talking, etc. Megan is thinking about TTC this summer. SARAH: Poor Hannah, falling on her head. Max got his DTaP, Hib, MMR, and varicella at 12 months and none at 15 months. No more until he's 4-5!!!! I'm feeling ok, just tired, round ligament pains, and constantly peeing from guzzling water. SUE: A fellow kluntz, huh?! BIRDIE: I'm so sorry your family is having health problems. Yeah for Noah and the flute. He sounds adorable bringing flowers for his play "date"!!! Max decided one day at the sitters he didn't want a bottle so he started using a sippy cup full-time then and never used a bottle again. I just kept the bottles out of his view so he wouldn't "miss" them and we never had any problems. I think our toddlers are too young to really "share". I get on to Max if he hits another kid when they take a toy, grabs a toy from someone else, etc. If he just whimpers, etc. when another kid plays with a toy he wants I simply offer Max another toy to play with or somehow distract him. RITA: Hey, vent, rant, rave, etc. here. Anything to let out the stress!!! I hope Amy starts sleeping again soon as you sound exhausted. JULIANNE: Colton is so sweet, praying. And so funny, falling off the horse deliberately!!! Max covers his mouth with his hands when he plays peek-a-boo (versus his eyes) and it kinda looks like he's praying. ROMAINE: I'm so sorry a stone is bothering you. Wow on the 3 word sentences!!! MICHELLE: Riley is talking up a storm, isn't he? Maybe once he slows down on new words he'll sleep better. I read somewhere that kids have trouble sleeping when they are learning a new skill. KATY: I point out pictures of babies in magazines to Max and he kisses them, but he has NO concept that there is a baby inside of me. There's a 6-month old girl at daycare that he adores so I'm hopeful that he'll adapt easily. LYNDA: I weaned Max suddenly at 14-15 months. I had surgery and couldn't nurse him due to the drugs so I decided to just go ahead and wean him (he only nursed first thing in the morning and just before bedtime at that point). He handled it really well; only fussed at one feeding when he got a cup instead of "Mr. Booby". CRYSTAL: Yeah on the potty training progress. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's loss. PATTY: How sad about the trooper. His poor wife. Such a loss is awful anytime, but I can't imagine dealing with it when you're pregnant. How do you handle being married to a trooper, knowing all the dangers? And people are such idiots - I always pull into the passing lane or go on the other side of the road (if there's no traffic, etc.) when I see anycar (including a trooper) pulled over but most idiots go whizzing by as fast as they can. I e-mailed Elise or whoever it was that had e-mailed me about the Chicago trip several weeks ago but never got a response. JENNIFER: Adam sounds hilarious saying "up" for "no". I bet he gets a lot of funny looks from strangers for that!!! KELLY: Max also loves legos now and his wooden blocks ... actually anything that Mom and Dad can build with that he can then turn around and destroy - LOL!!! LisaB & Max (16 months) email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 11:02:49 (EST)) Hello From Helen&Amanda!! First- the posts--- PATTY-Thats so sad about the trooper- our neighbours we go out w/and hang around with is(he) a trooper- I don't know how you wives do it, we hear some things from him about work and the nuts out there, between that and the hours he keeps, being on call when emergencies arise, its very stressful for you all. JULIANNE-- Colton sounds so cute! We've also dumped Amanda out of her sled a couple times!! KATY--Hope things get better with you! KELLI- Sorry about the bagel!!!LOL! Those hormones! Yes, computers are changing in a short time, ours was a windows'95, now we have a '98 and instead of 100mhz we have 600, along with other things that make a difference. BIRDIE--Amanda doesn't like eating veggies either so I've been giving her jar veggies (baby) and she likes them, so its working for now! Well gotta go-- DH is on his way for lunch- I'll finish later. Helen&Amanda@17mos email: mhim27@hotmail.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 13:08:35 (EST)) Hi everyone. I had the day off yesterday for MLK day. We had a big ice storm here last night. Not much snow to speak of just lots of ice coating everything when I got up this morning. Made for an interesting drive into work. It's days like these that make me wish I was still teaching (Patty!!) so that I could have gotten a snow day! LOL! Allison is doing great lately. She's been in a wonderful mood and learns so muchc every single day that it amazes me. I can't believe that she will be 20 months old on the 24th of this month. That just sounds so close to '2'. I'm not ready for her to grow up yet! **sniff sniff** Lisa B - I don't think I will ever take a non merit job with our state gov't. I just like the security of a merit job too much! Kelli - I was LOL at your bagel story! I know it probably wasn't funny to you at the time, but I can remember those early pregnancy hormones so well. Dh's favorite story to tell on me is when I was early pregnant and still wasn't aware of it. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and just starting crying for no reason. He told me right then to go get a test because he knew I had to be pregnant!! Romaine - Wow! Saba is getting quite the vocabulary. I'm impressed with the sentences! Patty - how sad about the trooper :-(. I really feel sorry for his poor young wife. The best snack of all is M&M's with salted peanuts! I know they make peanut M&M's but it is much better to take a regular one and eat it with a Planter's salted peanut. YUM Crystal - so sorry to hear about you friend's twins. How sad! sorry you weren't pg, but these things often work out for the best! Sarah g- sorry to hear about Isaac's head. Hope his goose egg is gone soon. Helen - WOW! a new computer! Just think of all the time you're going to save now! LOL Rita - so glad that you got to have Monday to yourself to get some stuff done. So, did you get to take that nap? Julianne - Yeah, like you're not going to worry over a heart murmur! When is it supposed to clear itself up? Did the Dr. say? Birdie - I don't think it's too early to switch to a sippy cup all the way. In fact I think it's probably the best time. By the time he gets 2 I think it will be much harder to take away as kids usually get pretty opinionated by that time in their lives. Sarah - so sorry to hear about Hannah's fall, but glad to know that she is okay! Christi - I know what you mean about getting behind!! I'm trying to play catch up today and ended up with this monster of a post! It takes forever to get caught up! Lynda - glad your DH finally saw how hard it is to look after a little one, but too bad that he wasn't able to get the full effect of housework and cooking too! Well, I guess I should get back to work. Talk to you ladies later. Beth and Allison (19.75 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 14:46:21 (EST)) Christi here Hey, the sun is shinning, it has been days since I have seen that! Seems like everyones little ones are talking up a storm, not Caleb, I guess maybe he will be the strong silent type?? :-) BIRDIE*** Glad Noah had a fun time sledding, he should be fine with no cup. IL's can be a bad thing, it is never too early to teach them HEHEHE JULIANNE*** I don't even know why Dr's say "don't worry" They know you are going to. HELEN*** Glad you are enjoying your new computer RITA*** +++++++sleeping thoughts for Amy REBECCA**** YOur trip sounds fun PATTY**** So sad about the trooper! DARLEEN*** Hope you get a nap JENNIFER*** Good luck finding a job KELLI*** If you want I have agood 6 loads of laundry you could do--to me that is a BIG accomplishment! LISA B.*** I thought we may have lost you to the PT board. I have to go, DD wants to make a necklace. How are we gonna do that? Christi & Caleb 14 months email: plumbs@coiinc.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 15:07:46 (EST)) HELLO AGAIN!-- DH got home from his dentist app- finally went for the cap on his root canal- its been over a year!! to continue-- Marha- JULS Sonya---- welcome to you all!! ( yes I may be repeating myself but my memory is shot to h**ll these days)--I am a sahm- mom of three- boy-14 next month-- girl- 12 next month and Amanda 18mos on the 31st, yes she was planned,I'm 35, DH is 36, married for 15yrs as of Dec. 1st. Romaine--We live in Mass. The pool meeting went well, will be starting it in March if everything goes as planned. Amanda likes to flush and points if we are on the toilet, loves to try and touch if DH is peeing, I hear him saying no don't touch, she tries to get too close too- funny! My DD and DS were trained by the summer and their b-days were in Feb, so thats about 2.4--2.6yrs and it was safe to go out and them not want to pee all the time or poop, its hard to find acess to toilets in stores or when driving along and you hear ' I need to pee!!!'.Also w/girls, I bought the seat covers that were flushable for public use- yuk! This time potty training will be different-- pull-ups--- they are new since DD and DS were little!!!I think the easter bunny will bring a potty. :O) SARAH- Glad Hannah is ok after her accident! MORIAH--Hope Geoff and Alex are getting better- I also had a flu shot- I'm the only one that didn't get the flu in this house. DARLEEN- Hope Nolan sleeps beter tonight! What a stupid doctors office!!! LYNDA--Hope your all better soon!! BIRDIE--- LOUISE----Dr Spock has info on sharing-toddlers don't understand sharing well, if the other child seems to not miss the toy, let it go, sometimes give it back and offer another- this sometimes works, sometimes not- they will begin to offer toys to eachother eventually, then praise them, its normal to be grabby and mean- they all do it for the most part! OK-- I think thats it for now-- Amanda is napping so I should get some vacuuming done and make my bed since its 2:00!! ONE MORE THING---- BIL's DD was caught getting and sending smutty stuff over the internet( 12 yrs old!!)- I don't know the details, you know men-LOL! anyway she is in big trouble- just a reminder to check those history folders, and deleted items!! LATER!!!! Helen&Amanda@17mos email: mhim27@hotmail.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 15:08:10 (EST)) I took Colton with me to a jewerly party last night. He flirted w/ all the ladies and took turns passing out his toys to them. He would not sit by me and just play though. I had to go running across the room several times because he would through his toys down the steps. Finally, when just about everyone had left he sat down and played nicely with the barn & animals. My neighbor dressed him with a pastel scarf around his head and took a picture. DH is just going to freak when he sees it! His other new word that gets us laughing is "she-she". He is trying to say fishies but can't figure out the "f" sound yet. Birdie: I agree w/ the others that you should keep the bottle away if Noah is doing good without it. Rita: Yeah for getting so much accomplished on your day off. Did you take a nap? Way to go Amy switching to the sippy cup. Rebecca: What a fun weekend you had. I can't wait to get Colton back in a pool. He loves laying on his tummy and kicking in the bathtub. Patty: Glad Jarin is back to your happy boy. You did get pictures of Jarin in the clashing heels for when he is older??? So sad about the trooper and his PG wife. I will keep them in my prayers. I too have been wondering about the Chicago meeting. I hope we didn't miss it. SarahG: So how is everyone in the house of falls doing today? Darleen: I hope Nolan sleeps better for you tonight. So cute about him dancing to the Jeopardy music. Aren't the animal noises the cutest? Romaine: Yeah for Saba's 3 word sentences. My mom is trying to get Colton to say "da-da plows snow" but no luck yet. She did get him to say "bide" for bride yesterday for when he looks at our wedding picture. The dr said the heart murmur could go away any time or stay with him his whole life. Not a real good answer huh? Jennifer: How funny that Adam says up for no. Kelli: I can just imagine how cute Elizabeth must sound saying oh-nuts! I am not PG and I always get upset when I can't get the food item I was really wanting. My Dh gets so disgusted at me when I do that. I am such a wimp when it comes to confrontation so I will most likely just find a new hair place. Besides, it scares me to have a hairdresser that may be unhappy w/ me because I complained--what if she realy goofs!!! LisaB: Hopefully work will ease up on you soon. Yeah for Max's new words. DH is still trying to get Colton to say Chevy. I too have been thinking about the Chicago trip. Maybe if several of us send e-mails we will get a response. Have a great day ladies and tots. Helen&Amanda@17mos email: mhim27@hotmail.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 15:54:45 (EST)) Good afternoon ladies! SARAH here. I just worked half a day today, and when I checked the posts this morning, there were only a couple so I decided to check them again at home. There's a lot more now. First off, I just want to say I sure hope I didn't come across snotty in my post yesterday regarding HANNAH's fall. I appreciate all of your comments!!! :) I don't really have any personals today, but have been wanting to share something with you ladies for a long, long time now but kept forgetting. My SIL gave this to me when I found out I was preggo (remember, I was quite shocked when I found out I was preggo...and not too happy about it AT FIRST!), and I've been carrying it with me every day. It's called "You Are A Gift" by Adrian Morris. You are a gift God gave to me. You are a gift I thought I'd never see. When I found out you were on your way, I really didn't know what to say. Then God said to me, "It'll be okay," Cause you are a gift God gae to me. You are a gift God gave to me. You are a gift I thought I'd never see. When I found out you were on your way, I thought for sure I'd gone astray. But then God said to me, "It'll be okay," Cause you're a gift God gave to me. You are a gift God gave to me, You are a gift I thought I'd never see. But right now I have you here with me, Because you are a gift God gave to me. Isn't that AWESOME??!!? Well ladies, I'm signing off for today and will chat with you all tomorrow. Hope you all have a wonderful evening! Sarah and Hannah (16 months) email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 18:07:51 (EST)) Hello all! Thanks everyone for the sleep vibes - last night wasn't much better with Riley, oh well, what can ya do? Patty - I'm so sorry to hear about your friends dh. That is so so sad, I'm wishing her well. Jennifer - Adam sounds very sweet wrinkkling his forhead and saying up. Kelli - Sorry to hear about your ham. Hopefully next time you'll get what you want. It's hard enough to have a craving... but trying to fulfill it and losing out! OUCH! That's a kick. Lisa B. I guess it would make sense that toddlers have trouble sleeping when they are learning a new skill, after all, we do right? I guess I'll just hope he figures out how to say the word he is trying for. It's probably "truck", right now it starts with an "f" which is a little embarassing! Julianne - Colton sounds very cute - at the Jewellry party trying to share his toys. Did you buy some new jewellry? We went to McDonalds today and we were sitting there and Evan (he's 2 1/2) says to me, "Mom, you a b#*ch". I looked astonished and almost fell of my chair. I looked at dh and he had the same expression as me! I couldn't believe what I heard since we NEVER talk like that. The lady at the next table gave a "hrmph". DH and I were kind of laughing a bit and when we finally figured out what he really said we were so relieved. It was actually "you're the best". I tell him that all the time and he decided to try it on me - he was looking at me with a loving look that's why I couldn't believe he had said what we heard. Thank Gosh it was "you're the best". Now I've started telling him "you're the bestest"... so we don't hear that again! Lordy, the things these kids come up with. I think I'll go lay on the couch with Evan now and watch Toy Story - it's his favorite movie, and maybe he'll fall asleep. Have a good night everyone. Michelle and Riley 16 mo and Evan 2 1/2 yrs email: mwells@telusplanet.net Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 18:14:02 (EST)) Hi mommies. I hope you are all doing well today. Jarin has been such a happy little guy. He took his nap and woke up right when I got home from work. He's just been busy, busy, busy and laughing at everything. I just adore that little laugh. We got 1 1/2 inches of snow last night, but no school delay. LOL. However, I had the BEST day at school! Five of my kids were out and I only had 12 students, not to mention that my "difficult" students were the ones not there today. It was such a great day and we got so much done. Boy, would I love to have that kind of class EVERY day. Ok, do I sound like a horrible teacher now? **Helen: Thanks for the pictures of Amanda and DD and Ds. Amanda looks so grown up in her little dress! My DH also has to work stupid hours. Since he was promoted to Sergeant, he doesn't work past midnight anymore, but he works one night shift, then 2 days, then a night, etc. Never any regularity in their schedules. It's no wonder they don't fall asleep at work! **Sarahg: You said it - Sleep is good! LOL. I am loving this with Jarin sleeping so much better. Sorry to hear you fell and Isaac got a goose egg. I hope you are both feeling better today. **Romaine: Yay for the three word sentences! =) **Jennifer: Too cute on the "up" for "no". Don't you just wonder where they get this stuff? My DS wasn't potty trained until 2 years 7 months. **Kelli: Jarin also likes Legos. We moved Jesse's Lego table into Jarin's room. So far he just likes to dump them and climb on the table, but soon I think he'll get the hang of it. That is too funny that Elizabeth says "Oh nuts". What a good DH! I love his comment about motherhood. =) **LisaB: Good luck with your deadline. Yes, there are plenty of idiot drivers out there. DH complained about exactly what you said - people speeding right on by them on the side of the road. I can't/don't think about him being in danger unless he gets called out to a case where I know there are guns, etc. It would make me insane if I thought about it every time he left the house. I guess I'm kinda in denial - you know the "It'll never happen to me/him" kind of thing. **Sarah: I forgot to say that Jarin also has no more shots until school Yay! **Beth: Sorry you didn't get your "ice day" off from work. That is definitely a perk of being at teacher. heehee. It takes me forever to catch up too so I try not to miss any days since I can't afford any more time than I already spend here! **Christi: Jarin doesn't talk much either - a few words here and there, but mostly just jibber jabbering. **Julianne: "she-she" - How cute is that? =) No picturs of Jarin in the pumps yet, but as often as he wears them I'll get one soon. LOL. As a matter of fact, he just now ran into my closet and guess what he grabbed? One purple and one green pump. He is so funny. **Gotta make dinner. Take care. And Michelle, "You're the best". What a riot. I would've died too if I heard what you thought you heard come out of my little one's mouth. I'm sure you and DH got a big kick out of it. And that is so sweet that he's telling you that. =) I'll bet you just wanted to cuddle him up. Bye again! Patty Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 18:22:15 (EST)) Rebecca here... I know, you're all in shock over two posts in two days! I just needed to vent about my MIL. She called yesterday to say she was going to come visit right after lunch today. I said sure, it had been a couple of weeks (she was away on vacation). So I get Paige up and dressed right away this morning and looked outside. Today is even more gorgeous than yesterday (I did take Paige to the park!). I was going to take her out when I remember that MIL is coming and I know she'll want to take her. I feed her lunch and wait for MIL to arrive. At 2, she calls to say she's running late but is on her way. Well, I had to tell her that Paige was about to go down for her nap. I had expected her an hour earlier. Paige was getting tired, and I had already kept her awake longer than normal. MIL got all snotty and said maybe she'd come later in the week. AARRGGHH!!! It's hard enough to waiting for nice weather to take Paige out in and then to have to keep awake for nothing! Okay, have I complained enough? LOL Well, I'm going to dash. I knew I could vent with you guys. I will be back again this week, I promise!!! Rebecca & Paige email: burn@canadawired.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 19:17:44 (EST)) Hello! or maybe I should say Lello, that's Riley-ese. We are doing great, but I'm trying to get used to this work thing. Who knew it was so hard?LOL I come home and everyone needs my attention and I never get anything done. I spend my days off catching up on the things I neglected while giving everyone attention to make up for working. AAAHHHHH!!!!! Cowboy, take me away!!!!!! Riley is so interested in his potty now, that he carries it all around the house. I threw the deflector shield away with the box. Big, stupid mistake! He sits down and pees. a nice long arc onto the carpet. I hate those shields because they always hurt when the boy is trying to get off the potty. But how can you point a little widdler down into the toilet when the tip of your finger is bigger then the entire thing in the first place?! He has been pooping in there every couple of days. He is standing here, drawing on paper. He gives it to me and says, read. And since he is a male, I can only guess that it is a list of chores he thinks I might need to do.LOL. Monte came into the store today and asked me how Riley was. He also had something else to say, but I'm not sure that you all would find it as hysterical as I did. Where do men get these ideas anyway? Jim, ex dh, was here for dinner last night. He has been making comments about wanting to be with his boys everyday from now on and he has said that when they get older he's sure they'll want to live with him. I honestly do not know what I would do if they went to live with their dad. I can't stand it when they are gone for the weekend. Oh sure, the first hour or two is dancing in my underwear, wearing shades. But after that, I miss them. I hope that I never have to find out! Jim also told me last night, that if something happened to me, he would try to get Riley. He would want to keep the boys together. Ok, Moriah, get out the theremometer! You know the one! Yes, it's time to take his tempature. Something has got to be wrong!!!! Now for a hamster story. I asked Jess to clean out from behind the couch. A lot of things had fallen back there. So he gets behind there and he's naming the items as he tosses them onto the couch. Pretty soon I hear, Oh and heres my hamster. I look up just in time to see the hamster come flying up over the back of the couch and land on the pile of clean clothes I had just folded. Jess, realizing what he had just tossed, peaks at me from behind the couch and says oops! I laughed so hard I nearly had to change pants! We didn't even know that the little bugger had escaped. Just another normal day in the Gydesen household! Sorry that I've got no personals today. I've got to get to town and buy groceries. Shelly & Riley 21 months Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 20:02:06 (EST)) Hayley and Becca here. Boy, you miss just a couple of days, and you can't even read your personals, there's so many postings! Does anyone know how to get in touch with the "webmother?" The margins of the postings has been made wider, which makes it a pain in the neck to read the postings - you have to keep tabbing back and forth. Becca did great on the 6 hr. flight to/from Miami. Had a great time meeting her 5 year old cousin for the 1st time, surprising her aunt and cousins. She's big into dogs lately, and everytime a dog came on the television or the screen on the plane ride, she'd point and scream "dog!!!" Lots of fun for my fellow passengers. Gave her 1/2 tsp. of Dimetapp 1/2 hr. before takeoff - made her sleep for 1 hr. there, 2 hrs. back - mommy gets to read and eat uninterrupted, and no screaming for clogged ears. Becca's in an infantcare center that kicks the kids out at age 30 mos. Thought I'd plan ahead and start calling preschools. The one I called today has an 12 mos. wait list and won't let you sign onto it until you've had a tour. Earliest date for a tour - May '00! I guess I'd better hurry up and register Becca for Princeton now, before the waitlist closes! Stay healthy! hayley and rebecca (16 mos) email: hayley.thompson@citicorp.com Tuesday, January 18, 2000 at 20:20:28 (EST)) Hi girls! Juls here! SO I again havent written anything down so I have no responses to anyone, PLEASE don't kick me off yet!!! I am going to be better, I promise!! ;) I have nothing new or exciting to tell you. Oh except we are trying to start potty training with Shaelynn! Should be interesting!! She just sits there now, I don't think she knows how to release yet! :) We didn't potty train our oldest until she was just about 2, and it was a good experience! So we will see if we stick with it now or not! :) Well the baby in my tummy is running out of room in there! tee hee, she is trying to move sooo much now. I can't beleive i am already at 27 wks!! eekkkk! ;) This weekend we redid our girls room, and it turned out sooo cute! We did it in Anne Geddies! I love it! And we are doing the baby's room in Precious Moments! I am soo excited! I am sorry i am boring you all! And I am sure some of you already know this, if you are on the pt board! Sorry to sound like a broken record!! :) I am feeling really bad about not posting personals to you wonderful gals! I really should get out my trusty pen and paper the next time I sit down to the puter!! So that is all for now, I hope to be back tomorrow!! ( with my pen and paper ) Sending lots of zzzzzzzz's to all! Laters Juls Julie Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 01:47:49 (EST)) Hi from LisaB. I forgot to tell you all about Sat. MIL watched Max at our house so DH and I could go to a surprise b-day party. Max figured out what was going on as soon as MIL walked in the door - he went and stood in a corner in the kitchen and whimpered. I guess he sobbed for 15 minutes after we left :-( but then he was fine. Unbeknownst to us, MIL ended up also babysitting our 12-yr old niece and 5-yr old nephew as BIL & SIL decided to go out for dinner without the kids. They didn't feed them before they sent them over at 6:30 - so they ate all our bread, the lunchmeat, used all the ice and didn't kick the icemaker on, drank most of the cold sodas, etc. Noone even told us this; I started discovering it when I wanted toast Sunday morning and figured out there was no bread. These people irritate me to no end; they are always sending their kids to MIL or our house so everyone else can raise them for them, always send them over without feeding them, etc. UGH!!!! In addition, MIL didn't follow Max's bedtime routine at all because the 12-yr old wanted to put him to bed "her way". Of course THAT didn't work so he ended up getting to sleep over a hour late and was grumpy all day Sunday. To add to all that, the party was a huge bore. JULIANNE: My Mom had a heart murmer when she was little. Her doctor has always watched it closely and she ended up needing open-heart surgery in her early 40s as the hole got too large. I wouldn't worry about the murmer (if that's possible) but do ensure the doctor monitors it. MICHELLE: Riley's truck with "f" is going to raise even more eyebrows than the b*#ch/best!!!! REBECCA: Shame on MIL for standing you up and ruining all your plans. SHELLY: Yeah on the potty-training. The hamster story was too funny. I can almost picture you dancing in your underware - LOL!!!! HAYLEY: I agree these margins suck. Use the "we'd love to hear from you" link at the bottom of this page or there are some links on the "home" page of this site. I'm glad your trip went well. LisaB & Max (16 months) email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 10:29:24 (EST)) Hi from CathyG - I hate the way the margins look now, you have to scroll to see the whole line, so I just skimmed everything to get the idea of what you all said. Well, i'm back at work today, after my "weekend". DH is away all week, so I have to drop off and pick up the kids, but at least I get to use his parking space, which is indoors!! We have had record cold temperatures here (-51C with the windchill), so the car will be happy to warm up. Does anyone live near Philadelphia?? That's where DH is, and where his head office is, and he seems to think it might be good for him to move there for a while. Is it a nice place?? Alison threw every piece of her breakfast on the floor today. She does it and then looks at me with this big grin on her face. She is such a monkey. Yesterday, though she surprised me. We were at Emma's skating lesson, and usually I spend the entire time chasing Alison all over the seats. Yesterday, when they started with the Chicken dance song, she sat down and watched, and watched the rest of the lesson (about 10 minutes). I was so happy to get a chance to watch myself. Just a few personals because of the margin problem... Julianne - I am sorry about your hair. I think you should get them to redo it at their expense. (I had to do this when the colour turned my hair ORANGE!) Darleen - Hope you and Nolan feel better. I can relate about DH forgetting about you and Nolan during the day. I have asked my DH this very question and he admits it!! I tell myself that like any man, he can't hold more than 1 idea in his head at the same time!! Crystal - Happy cirthday. I am so sad about your friend. Birdie - I agree - if he has stopped the bottle, you should go with it. It is much better for his teeth. Patty - So cute about Jarin and your pumps. Right now with all our boots around, that what Alison like to get into - especially DH's big ones. See you all later. Cathy G and Alison (17 months) Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 10:43:15 (EST)) Colton was in the bathtub for almost an hour last night. I was trying to find some bubble-bath and ran across a squeeky-toy whale that I had thrown in the back of the cupboard for when Colton got bigger. Colton had so much fun making it squeek. The dog wasn't too happy though, she kept barking at it from the basement! Colton had to kiss and say bye-bye to the she-she before he would get out of the tub. Yeah, Colton slept through the night again last night. He slept at the opposite end w/ his teddy-bears though. We didn't dare move him when we went to bed so I just covered him up good and was thankful that I got a good night's sleep. I am afraid that all our progress this week is going to be for nothing though. DH is going away for a few days snowmobiling! The first thing Colton says when he gets up is da-da. It is just going to break me heart to have him calling out for DH and then having to tell him that da-da is bye-bye. DH is really going to miss him too. Last night he said that he will probably cry the first night because he will miss Colton so much. I thought that was so sweet. I didn't even tease him about missing me! Helen: Thanks for the pictures of Amanda. She looked great in her Christmas outfit. Is she stingy with her smiles too? Sarah: I loved the poem you posted. Thanks, even though it made me cry. I try to remember to thank God every night for giving me such a precious gift as Colton. Michelle: I only bought a new necklace. The stuff was pretty, but expensive. Plus, the lady told everyone that she makes 50% of the sales. Knowing that the jewelry cost so much because she makes such a big % made me not want to buy much. I know it sounds silly, but some of the pieces weren't of the best quality so I wasn't happy with the inflated prices. How sweet for Evan to tell you that you're the best--even though it came out sounding wrong!! Patty: Glad to hear that both you and Jarin had great days. Rebecca: I hate it too when Colton misses playing outside since there aren't too many nice days anymore. Sorry your MIL messed up your day. She was running late and should have understood and not got upset at you. Hayley: Glad Becca did so well on the plane ride. I think Colton would need a great big tranquilizer to keep him still and quiet on a plane! Good luck finding a pre-school. I can't believe the long waiting list. Is that typical? Juls: Your girls rooms sound so cute. I feel kind of bad that we never really decorated Colton's room. I tried to put up Thomas the Tank Engine boarders and stickers, but the walls are not smooth so most of them have come off. Julianne & Colton 18 mo email: jjones@batts.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 10:45:40 (EST)) Hi, Louise here. I had quite a surprise last night - I rushed home from work to collect James and was late because the traffic was so bad, and that always puts me in a panic. I was then dashing around trying to give James lots of attention, sorting everything out etc etc, and I had just started running the bath for him when the doorbell went. I was tempted not to answer it at first but thought I'd better so scooped James up and went down. There were two police officers there who asked me to confirm my name. I was terrified because of course I thought that DH must have been in an accident. Turns out, needless to say, that they'd had an emergency call with a toddler shouting 'whoo whoo' down the line at them - my little monster had dialled 999 (your 911)! I was mortified, I hadn't even realised he'd had the phone. They were really nice about it, I'd heard that they can really be angry with you for wasting police time (understandably) but luckily they thought it was funny. The only embarassing thing was they said they just needed to check he was OK in case he had called deliberately because he was hurt (presumably by me!) I think he's a little young to be calling deliberately (!), but I had to let them look at him. I felt awful but I know they had to do it and can understand why. Also it was really reassuring to know, in case of a real emergency, that they'd turned up at my door within a couple of minutes. Apart from that, not much new! LISAB - I can understand how you feel about your job/boss. But they obviously have a lot of faith in you as they've just given you this big promotion. I can understand how difficult it is with all the work too, particularly as you're pregnant. My job was like that when I was pregnant with James. Also, once they know your pg again surely they couldn't touch you for fear of a lawuit? I know that's not the point exactly, but you must be in a fairly secure position? Anyway hope you're not too tired. KELLLI - I can really relate to the bagel story. Like JULIANNE said, I'm like that when I'm not pregnant!! I'm really childish when it comes to my food, particularly when I've set my heart on something! I really remember those pg hormones though, feeling like you're on the edge of tears all the time. Hope you're feeling OK too. JENNIFER - that is very cute about Adam saying up for no! DARLEEN - sorry to hear about your night from hell. PATTY - Thanks for the photos! It was so nice to receive them, great to see you too! Jarin and James do seem similar, I can't put my finger on it but I can see a resemblance. He's gorgeous. I'm glad he's sleeping/napping so well. I've also noticed with James that he naps so much better when his night time sleep is sorted, I guess it's true when they say that sleep creates sleep. I'm really sorry to hear about that state trooper and his poor wife. Question from a foreigner coming up - what exactly IS a state trooper? I assume it's a type of Police officer? RITA - Hope Amy gives you a break with the sleeping. I know that foggy tired feeling only too well. HELEN - hope you get your pool, that sounds great. Thanks for the tips on sharing. BTW - I'd love to see Amanda if you get a chance to send me a photo. BIRDIE - you must have so much self disciplie, particularly working before Noah gets up. I know I'd always be finding excuses to stay in bed! SARAH - you didn't sound snotty - trust me, I just felt bad because I'd forgotten to mention HANNAH's fall! Thanks for the poem, it says it all. MICHELLE - had to laugh at Evan! You must have been horrified when you first heard it, just as well you didn't tell him off, he would have been so confused! Talk later, Louise & James email: rnash78035@aol.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 10:51:31 (EST)) Hello from Rita in rainy California (Yah!) Thanks for all of the good sleep vibes. We have had two good nights in a row - Amy didn't even wake up at all last night. I don't want to jinx it, so I am not sure that it is any kind of pattern yet. I went in for a physical yesterday, trying to be a responsible mommy and look after my own health for a change. I'll have to wait a few weeks to go over the blood test results. I am hoping for a clean bill of health so I can get on with weight loss. The only consolation is that my MD had had another baby since I last saw her and she is trying to lose the weight, too. Of course, she is one of those women who are already out jogging at 5 month PP. Woo hoo, all of the stories here have had me in stitches: Michelle - Out of the mouths of babes! It's a good thing you figured out what he meant. Maddy picks up some less than savory expressions. She has been saying "what the h*** is this" and getting severely corrected. She must have heard from someone and all it takes is one time with her. Shelly - "Lello" to you. The flying hamster was too funny. It must be interesting to live in a household with all boys. He he. Of course, I am in for the house of hormones in ten years or so. Louise - James is far too clever. I would have been overwhelmed to find the police at my door. Did you send me a picture of James? If you did, I did not receive it. Hayley - We have been on a waiting list for the cooperative nursery school for a year already and Maddy would be starting in the fall. It's crazy. Julianne - No, I didn't take the nap. I did go out to the mall and walk around since it was raining. DH left me strict instructions that I was not supposed to spend the whole day doing chores and that I had to do something for myself. Kelli - I also hate going out with an idea that I want a particular food only to find that the restaurant is out of it. I often won't have anything. My friend from Fort Collins is coming into town today with her twins and I am hoping to see them since I was having Amy the last time they were here. One of these days I will probably get out to CO on business and I'll make a point to rent a car and visit everyone. Well, this is long enough and I need to get into reviewing project schedules. Take care everyone! Rita & Amy email: ritad@home.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 14:38:02 (EST)) Christi here It's snowing!!!! YEAH Okay, now I have to share a sad story to get it off of my mind--I hope. Sunday a 4 year old boy was taken to the ER by his parents, the Dr told them to give him Tylenol and take him home. He died on the way back to the ER on Monday. He goes to the same school as Alexis, but is in a different class. Why do Dr's not believe moms when they say something is wrong with their child? Shouldn't we know??? I am so angry, and hurt, Alexis is 4, I could not imagine holding her in my arms while she dies. DH works with a friend of the family, that is how I know about it, it has not hit the news or anything yet. To boot just before New Year a 3 month old died of RSV, he was a twin, and a preemie, but it just makes you wonder, why didn't they fly him to a larger hospital? *sigh* On to personals JULIANNE*** Glad Colton has such a good time at the party. Sweet about DH missing him when he is gone. HELEN*** Could you please send the pics to plumbs@coiinc.com instead? Thanks so much, my yahoo is messed up, and I got about 1/4 of the first picture. SARAH*** That poem was beautiful! They really are gifts from God, 'accidents' or not. MICHELLE*** HOpe Riley sleeps better for you soon! Too funny about "you are the bset"! Can you say every line of Toy Story? My DD and her friend LOVE that movie--#2 even more, have you seen it? Cute! PATTY*** Glad jarin is sleeping more, and happier. You don't sound like a bad teacher(unless my kid was one of the 5 not there, then you would be terrible) :-) REBECCA*** Grin and bear it! :-) SHELLY*** Was the hamster dead? HAYLEY*** Glad Becca did so well on the plane ride! JULS*** Your girls' rooms sound cute! LISA*** How rude of SIL/BIL. Was your MIL upset? LOUISE*** LOL!!!!!! that is too funny (until it happens to me) RITA*** Glad Amy is sleeping better! How is Maddy? Well ladies, I guess it is time for me to go, hope you all have a swell day! Christi & Caleb 14 months email: plumbs@coiinc.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 16:46:00 (EST)) Hi, this is Birdie. Okay I've got to tell you all something before I forget. On Monday I went in for the lovely anual exam. Some of you mat recall my birth story about my scary C-sect and DH and baby being rushed out of room and the DR calling for blood etc... Anyway, it was pretty clear that something had gone wrong. There was lot's of yelling and I was puking and went in and out of consciousness etc. Well, I told him not to tell me what had happened. I was too freaked out and all. So at my appt I told him I wanted to know the scoop. He said that when he removed the placenta my uterus turned inside out completely!!! How creepy is that? He said he had never seen it happen during a c-section and only once during a vaginal birth. I must know, have any of you ever heard of this or had it happen? It's very creepy to me. I'm glad I didn't find out back then. I had told him if there was something I really needed to know like I couold never have more kids or I was going to die etc to tell me then but if not to wait until I had asked. That's all. Just wondered if you'd ever heard of that happening. Thanks to everyone for your advice on the cup/bottle. I did give him one more bottle the other night. He really didn't care one way or the other. I needed to do it for me. I so sappy. Now he is totally on the cup and I am okay with it. New question: tell me about nursery school and pre-school. When do they start, why should they go, is it all day or half day or what and when are your little ones going or are you keeping them out of it all??? There, I guess that's enough questions for today. I won't do any personals since I took up the whole page with my questions. Lot's of snow here finally!!! Take care. Birdie and Noah (13 months) email: LJU777@AOL.COM Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 16:50:43 (EST)) Good afternoon all. Okay, I know this is really childish and stupid and all those other things and I feel REALLY REALLY embarrassed even mentioning it, but I have kind of gotten my feelings hurt here the last few days because no one (except Patty) as responded to my posts in quite a few days. I'm just worried that I may have said something to offend you guys or something. Let me know if I did. I figure it is probably nothing and I am being really insecure, and a baby, but I really wanted to mention it and apologize if I have said anything offensive, etc. Please forgive me. Enough of that! DH felt really bad last night. He put Allison in timeout during dinner for kicking the table when we had asked her not to. Anyway, right after he sat her down she started yelling, "pee pee!!" I said, "honey, she's telling you she has to go pee pee." He said, "she just wants to get up, that's why she's doing it". Well she started crying and sobbing "pee pee PEE PEE!" so he picks her up and poor thing already has her diaper half off (she can undo the snaps between her legs now by herself) and has had diarrhea everywhere. He felt horrible. I told him next time he would listen when she said she has to go!! Sarah- thanks for the great poem. It was so true. Patty - I know what you mean about good days at school when the "bad" kids are gone. I remember praying for those days. When I was student teaching, I had one REALLY bad kid who was NEVER absent. Luckily he has strep throat during my solo week. I was never so happy in my life! Louise - we have 911 programmed on our phone to just require one button. Allison called them one day using that button. Luckily no cops showed up at our house, but the 911 operator did call back and confirm everything was OK. Christi- that is so sad about that 4-year-old. What did he die from? Rita - congrats on Amy sleeping so well. Hope that it continues. Julianne - Colton sounds so cute asking for dada. Allison does the same thing every morning. I hate mornings when DH is gone as I have to tell her he's not there. Cathy G - Alison sounds cute watching the chicken dance! Lisa- that is very rude of your IL's to take advantage of you like that. Julie - how old is Shaelynn that you are starting potty training. Shelly - I was LOL at you hampster story. Too funny! Well, gotta get back to work. Have a great day everyone. Beth and Allison (19.75 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 17:14:18 (EST)) Everyone, please note my new e-mail address. I want all of you to know that the hamster is fine. Shell Shelly & Riley email: shelly@bobvance.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 21:45:52 (EST)) Hi! Just doing a quick check in as Dh shovels our way out of the house. I love the snow!!! Anyway, I wanted to say.......BETH***Sorry to have ignored you, it was not intentional! And here I was proud of myself that I had gotten to everybody, sorry. I know what you mean about Allison growing up, I can't believe Caleb will be 15 months next week, I hate it. 18 months will kill me for sure! I think the little boy died of the flu, I am not real sure, there was still nothing in the paper, and you know how things get messed up in a hundred translations (he told me that you said she said they said etc.) Gotta run! Night! Christi Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 22:29:28 (EST)) Hi All, Darleen here! Well, I'm not sure if I got good news or bad news today. My Dh says there is nothing to worry about. Anyways....... I will tell you. I took Nolan to the Dr because his eye-infection hasn't cleared up. She said it must be a virel eye- infection if it hasn't cleared up within 48 hours, so needless to say he has another week of eye drops. Poor Guy! Then I told her about how I was feeling on Monday, and she told me if I was 70 years old +, I would have all the signs of a stroke, but a 30 year old can't have a stroke. In my mind I was thinking there is a first for everything. So, when I got home I called Dh at work and told him what she said. She said the symptoms I had could have been a migraine (never had one before), a food reaction, or my birth control pills. So she suggested I go off my pills for a while since we want to start trying in the Summer. My mom says to document everything I eat because it could have been a sugar imbalance. My Dh agreed with her, but my Dr didn't say that. I don't know what to do, or who to believe. My mom knows me better then anybody. "MOM'S KNOW BEST!" So I am taking each day as it comes, and will watch what I eat for now on. Maybe I will lose my baby fat that I've been wanting to lose. HAHA! When I picked Dh up from work I started to cry, and he says what's the matter I said after going to the Dr, and not knowing for sure hwta is the matter with me, I am petrified of what could be the matter with me. He keeps reassuing me and telling me I'm fine. I guess I was looking for sympathy from him, and more or less got what I wanted. Nolan is doing great! This morning I was getting out of the tub, and it was quiet, but I could hear him playing with a bag. I looked around the corner, and here's Nolan sitting on the floor eatting a bag of chips, Dh left out on the table from the night beforoe. I thought it was funny so I took a picture of him doing it. He loves them now! Unfortunately! Everyday Nolan is saying a new word. I can hardly wiat for him to start talking more clear so I can understand him. No personels tonight! Have a good night everyone! I am trying to break her from her bottle. I give her a sippy cup, and the little booger throws it down. Do ya think she just isnt ready or what? HELP :o) Carla Carla email: CarlaBrans@aol.com Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at 23:51:22 (EST)) Hi All, Sorry I havent been on in a while, but Cat is really sick. No one knows exactly what is wrong, there are a lot of opinions being thrown around. I have heard fifth disease, rosaciea virus, urinary tract infection, and a whole bunch of other stuff. She has been running a 102 fever, and we had to rush her to the ER this morning with a 104. I am pretty low, and we took her out of the hospital AMA today. They couldnt even put in an IV! They kept pushing the needle in the same hole for 10 minutes. The second time they tried, the vein busted. They wanted to cathaterize her, take chest x rays (she has NOT been coughing), and a bunch of expensive procedures that her pediatrician told me over the phone were not necessary, so I took he home, bruised and traumatized. OK, I have nothing much to say besides, I am sorry to bring you all down. I am sorry for no personals, but I know yall understand. Thanks for listening. Kahne and Cat 1 email: kahneandsteve@hotmail.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 00:22:23 (EST)) Hi there! (Sarah g here) First some personals- Beth- I am so sorry! It's hard to make the time to respond to everyone, and I understand what you mean- it's kind of a bummer if no one is responding to you. Thanks for the hint. It's good for all of us! Allison is really coming along with her potty training! WOW! Sorry to hear about her time out/pee pee-misunderstanding. It can be so confusing whether they really mean it or not in those sticky situations. Kahne- Best wishes out to Cat!! Get well soon!! That hospital experience sounds horrible. You did the best thing for your little kiddo! Carla- Hi! Persistence is definately good when switching to the cup. Maybe even just pick one meal time to switch to at first and gradually add the cup at more feedings. Good luck! Darleen- I read about your numbness and blurred vision the other day. Really keep track of what sets this off. I get migraines every now and then. I definately get the weirdest vision problems with it, where I can't see hardly at all out of one eye. My migraines are usually hormone related(the pill!!), but often triggered by diet (caffeine, chocolate- 2 of my favorites!) or fluorescent lighting. Sarah g and Isaac Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 01:26:16 (EST)) Ok- I did this the other day too! I don't mean to hit post, and then-- oops!! Anyway- Darleen- (con't) Hang in there! Too funny about Nolan with the chips!! Sounds hilarious! Christi- Snow! Lucky you!! It sounds so sad about the little boy. I can't imagine. Birdie- It's unbelievable to know how much our bodies can endure and still be well! I have Isaac in a parent participation preschool, only 1 day a week for kids btw 2-3 yrs. Major benefits!! He actually shares sometimes now! Louise- No way with James! That is such a crack up! I can't believe that. Smart kid!! Julianne- Way to go Colton!! I hope things will go smoothly for you guys while your dh is away. Helen- Thanks for the pictures!! It's so cool putting all these stories to a face. Cathy G- -51C!!!!! Where do you live? I must be completely spoiled here in northern California. Wow! Alison and the Chicken dance- too cute! Lisa B- IL's, often CAN live with out them, huh? Hope you're feeling well! Juls- Your kids rooms sound darling! How nice to have the time, energy and resources to do all that! Hayley- A nice flight must have been a real treat! Shelly- I enjoyed reading about a day in the Gydesen household! Super that Riley is doing so well on the potty- minus the splash guard... Rebecca- like I said to LisaB, IL's sometimes you CAN live without them!! Hang in there! Patty- Sounds great about Jarin being so happy! Glad you enjoyed your little classroom! Michelle- Hope Riley is sleeping for you tonight. Sarah- Thanks for the poem! Fits us well! Stacey- Hope things are going to work out with your family coming back to stay with you. I am completely interested in html and the Adobe programs that your dh is teaching, that's exactly the stuff I'm trying to study! Well, just a little about us today- Isaac was fairly unrested and out of whack today. I went to an orientation for an online class last night, so my mom watched the kids til dh came home. Isaac is so thrown for a loop when his routine is gone. But he hung in there and took a good afternoon nap, which made a big difference. I'm excited about school this semester. I got into my online class last night, which was overly full. Luckily the instructor let me add anyway. So I'll also be taking 2 more classes on Saturdays, since I can't find affordable, reliable, responsible(the list could go on) child care. We'll assume dh qualifies!!! Oh-here's my potty brag! Isaac went #2 all by himself with out telling anyone, wiped his behind and everything! Well, goodnight guys! sarah g Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 02:04:48 (EST)) Hi from Lynda. Beware Monster Post A vent about DH - (the same one who seemed to be so understanding on Saturday) - today I worked and I always find those days quite difficult, I start work early so I can finish early and rush home to get Ella and do everything that needs to be done. I had also discussed with DH that I would like to go running tonight as I have not been for almost a week. Anyway 6:30pm passes, then 7:00pm (DH is usually home by now at the latest), then 7:30pm (Dinner is ready Ella is asleep, I am dressed ready to go running. Then finally at 7:45pm DH rings to say he got held up in a meeting. I can hear "odd" background noises and ask where he is - tells me he is in a bar - "needs to unwind after his meeting and will be home a bit later" - boy did I let him have it!!!! I have (quite childishly I might add) got my revenge by unscrewing the cable from the TV to the wall and hiding it so that he won't be able to watch TV (his favourite thing to do - my least favourite). Combined with this post I now almost feel sane. I have not posted for a while as Ella had not been well. Her normal doctor is away and three doctors later we find out that her rash is infact Exzema and not a virus. By this stage it is all over her face and she looks something like a burns victim - poor baby!! Fortunately the meds have cleared it up quite quickly and she is now more comfortable and sleeping better. A few quick personals: Beth: - Don't feel embarrassed about feeling ignored. I always read your posts - but don't always have something to say. I bet DH will be jumping at Allison's every need after him not believing her "pee pee" story. Rita: - Yeah for Amy sleeping!!! We had one all night sleep last night - please please that it continues tonight. How did your check up go??? Kelli: - Pg, looking after Elizabeth, and 6 loads of laundry, you had a right to feel worn out! Louise: - James sure does like to make things interesting at your house - amazing story!! Kahne: - Poor Cat - I used to think Doctors were "all knowing" until I had Ella - I now realise that some of them are good and some are not so good at their jobs. I hope that Cat is doing better. Sorry to take up so much room Lynda & Ella (12 months) email: ljpjyoung@ozemail.com.au Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 06:18:29 (EST)) Hi, Louise here. Quick post, not much to say, except please don't think that James is super-bright by dialling emergency - it was a complete (and very embarrassing!) accident! RITA - I'll send photos out this weekend, I thought I'd sent you one, but it mustn't have gone through? I'll try again. Glad you saw you doctor and hope you're feeling OK. CHRISTI - How sad about that child. It's one of the things I find difficult about motherhood - how much things like that affect you. I mean I would have found it tragic anyway, but it's so much more intense when you think of your own children. BIRDIE - that must have freaked you out. I can't help as I've never heard of that circumstance, but it must have been a one-off i.e no chance of it recurring or they would have spoken to you at the time? I can relate to the throwing up and drfifting in and out of consciousness - same thing happened to me, they said I'd had a bad reaction to the epidural. BETH - I am SO sorry not to have responded before. I know it's hurtful if you feel ignored! I also always read your posts and love to hear about Allison (and her advvanced potty training!) but sometimes I don't manage to respond to everyone if I haven't got anything in particular to say. You're all in my thoughts though! And thanks for the tip on storing the emergency number. DARLEEN - I can understand how scared you are. Like SARAHG, I have suffered a lot from migraines and get the scary blurred and tunnel vision, numbness and tingling etc. Mine are usually hormonal. I freaked out once a few years ago because I got all the above symptoms without the headache - like you're describing - but my doctor siad it wasn't uncommon. They can tell pretty quickly by testing your reflexes and co-ordination if there is anything really wrong so try not to worry. CARLA - welcome. Sorry I can't advise - I'd like to get my son off his bottle too but haven't managed it. KAHNE - so sorry to hear about KAT. Hang in there. SARAHG - Well done Isaac! LYNDA - SOrry to hear about Ella. Hope she's feeling better. I can relate to your DH story - how frustrating. Talk later Louise & James email: rnash78035@aol.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 07:14:03 (EST)) Hi from LisaB. Nothing much new here. I made real progress on my big project yesterday and hopefully will finish it tomorrow or over the weekend - YEAH! LOUISE: James "calling" for assistance is too funny, esp. as it was accidental!!! Yeah, my job is probably pretty secure as they can't fire me - someone has to do all this CRAP and work the extra hours without complaint ... LOL! Actually, I'll be "merit" (similar to tenured) within a year and then I'll have to mess up REALLY bad to get fired. Plus we were planning on me quitting when #2 was born at one point so we could afford for me to stay home - I just want the satisfaction of quitting versus getting fired!! RITA: Maddy and her he#$ - they sure are quick learners when it's something we don't want them to learn, aren't they?! CHRISTI: The 4-year old's death is so sad. My MIL wasn't real upset as she's used to having the kids dumped on her all the time. Actually I think she's a little disappointed that we don't leave Max with her several nights a week (but, unlike my BIL and SIL I WANT to raise my kid myself!). BIRDIE: I've never heard of a uterus inverting. What kind of freak are you - LOL!!!! I hope you realize I'm only kidding. I'm glad they didn't let you at the time as it probably would have scared the crap out of you at the time. Max is in a home daycare but it's similar to preschool in that she does "school" each day for the kids over 1 - learn their colors, numbers, ABCs, shapes, etc. BETH: Allison KNEW she had to go, didn't she? I bet you and DH both listen to her more closely from now on!!! I'm sorry I haven't posted to you personally (and a lot of others lately). I'm just way to busy. I read all the posts even if I don't have something to say to everyone. If you want to feel "left out" try going back to PT - LOL!!! I've moved thru all these boards with you, Kelli, and other friends and it's so odd posting where you don't know anyone and they don't know you. After posting at PT for almost 2 weeks a few people are just now starting to personnally address me. CARLA: Do you use a spill proof lid? Max wouldn't take one of those for a long time as it was too hard to get the liquid out. Then again, other kids prefer those as it's similar to drinking from a bottle (versus getting drowned with a non-spill proof lid). I would experiment with different cups (ones with handles, without handles, etc.) also to see if that helps. KAHNE: I'm sorry Cat is so sick. That hospital sounds awful. Has her ped. seen her since you brought her home? If not, is there another hospital you can use? LYNDA: Shame on DH going to a bar when he knew you wanted him to come straight home. Then again, I know some days I love my hour commute from work as I really need the time to unwind and cool off before I deal with Max - so I don't take the day's frustations out on him. The cable trick was childless BUT effective - LOL!!!! I hope Ella's rash clears up soon. LisaB & Max (16 months) email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 10:35:55 (EST)) DARLEEN: I skipped over my "note" to you in my posts. 30 year olds can have strokes; I've heard and read of it happening. I would get a second opinion, just in case. You need to stay healthy for your own peace of mind and for Nolan. LisaB Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 10:38:29 (EST)) Good morning ladies. SARAH here...wishing it were Friday!!! Close enough, I guess. Well, HANNAH is still being cute as ever and in the BEST mood!!!! We did time out with her for the first time the other night, and it absolutely broke my heart. DH thought I was crazy! :) MICHELLE - Funny story about EVAN (bitch/best)! SHELLY - Your posts always make me laugh!! :) HAYLEY - That's great BECCA did so great on the plane. LISA - How rude of your BIL and SIL!!!!! How are you feeling??? JULIANNE - Sounds like COLTON likes the tub as much as HANNAH!!! :) DARLEEN - I hope everything is okay with you!!! I'll keep you in my prayers! HANNAH's a big chip fan, too. She always goes to the pantry and says "chips??!!" KAHNE - I'll keep you guys in my prayers!!! PLEASE keep us informed and give CAT a big kiss from HANNAH and I!! LOUISE - Hilarious story about JAMES dialing 999. I just wait for the day for HANNAH to do that. Thanks for your email the other day! :) RITA - Congrats on the clean bill of health! Good for you! CHRISTI - Oh my gosh! What a terribly sad story!! I know what you mean about "accidents" being a gift from God too. HANNAH came into my life at the right time!!! I was out of control!!!!!! Sometimes I truly believe she's my angel who saved my life!!! DIANE - Speaking of ANGEL, where are you????? BIRDIE - ICKY!!!!! I've never heard that before!! I've been thinking of you the last couple of days when I'm eating my tootsie roll!!! :) :) BETH - I'm glad you were honest with us. Don't feel like a baby. To tell you the truth, I've felt that way before, too! I don't mean to ignore you. As you can see I haven't posted much to anyone in the last week or so. I still love you!!! :) I'll bet DH felt awful!! Good for ALLISON being so good at letting (or at least trying) you know. :) SARAH g. - Good for ISAAC going #2!!!! What are you studying in school? LYNDA - Your DH :( story!!! Been there, done that!!!! Very irritating!!!! Your revenge cracked me up!! Sounds like something I would do!! :) :)LOL Sorry to hear ELLA has exzema, but glad it's clearing up! PATTY - HI!! How is JARIN??? KELLI - How are you feeling?? MORIAH - Where are you??? OK, that's all for now. Hope you all have a great day! Sarah and Hannah (16 months) email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 10:54:00 (EST)) Hey, Birdie here. Nana and Grandpa just took Noah out for the morning so I could get some real work done and here i am talking to you. I'll try to be short. I wanted to mention something and find out if any of you feel the same way. Obviously I don't want anything bad to happen to me. Who does. However, lately I have really thought about it a lot more. I never really put much thought into it but now I pray nothing ever happens to me because I can't stand the thought of Noah being without his mommy. It's so weird. I've never really wished or prayed that I stay healthy or unharmed but now it's something I think about all the time. When we do our little bed time prayer and I ask that God watch over Noah and protect him I also find myself praying that nothing happens to me or DH so that Noah never has to be without us. How weird is that? I think about it alot. I'll say, "I hope I never get cancer" but not because I don't want it (which of course I don't) but that I don't want Noah to have to go through that. I think this all started when my cousin was diagnosed with MS. I really started thinking about if anything bad ever happened to me how horrible it woyld be for my little guy. Is this too nutty or have any of you thought the same thing/ Sorry to ramble. Sarah- I know. Way too gross. SarahG- Thanks for the info Louise- The worst reaction I had to my spinal was when I had to expose my big old butt to the entire room and not move while they all checked it out! LisaB- Super freaky!!!!! I think it makes sense that something so rare and odd and creepy would happen to me. It fits. Moriah- Hows the little guy? Beth- We all love you. Take care. Birdie and Noah (13 months) email: LJU777@AOL.COM Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 11:41:11 (EST)) Colton is definately a little fishie when it comes to the tub. He was having so much fun in it again last night that I hated to drain the water out. He tooted for the first time in the bath and his reaction was true male! He grinned, leaned back on his arms and proceeded to make some more bubbles rise!! He had me cracking up. Then he tried to see how far back he could lean before his head would touch the water. He would fall over and then jump up just laughing and clasping his tummy like he was big stuff. Finally he discovered he could lay flat in the tub and his face would still be out of the water. He thought that was the neatest thing. I was concerned about water getting in his ears but didn't have the heart to try to stop him since he was having such a blast. He is going to have so much fun swimming in pools this summer. He certainly is ready. It scares me though with him not being afraid of the water and laying in it so easily. Now I don't dare leave the bathroom even for a second! Before everyone goes ballistic on me, yes, I do leave the room when he is in the tub. HOWEVER, due to our small house, any room I go into is just a few steps away and with the door open I can still see him. It's usually to grab the phone or his medicine or something quick. LisaB: I can't believe the nerve of your BIL & SIL sending their kids to be watched at your house without asking. My mom brings her own lunch when she watches Colton while I work. I tell her that their is plenty in the fridge and cupboards, but she insists. CalthG: Orange hair--bet you weren't laughing!! How cute of Alison to be so attentive to the chicken dance part of Emma's skating lesson. Louise: Glad the cops had a good sense of humor over James dialing 991! It was good to have a test response though. Rita: Good luck on the weight loss. I am just trying to be more active. I have been getting on the treadmill twice a week for three weeks now! I even did sit-ups two days ago. I haven't seen any pounds go away yet, but I fell much more energized and healthier. Christi: It is so sad about the 4 yr old and baby dying. Makes me want to go get Colton and smother him with hugs and kisses. Birdie: Wow, a uterus can turn inside out huh! Good thing you waited to find out what happened. Here there is 3-school and pre-school for kids. Both are just half days 2 or 3 days a week. I think it should be OK if I look into signing Colton up next fall when he is 2, jsut in case there is a waiting list! Beth: SORRY I haven't posted to you lately. You did not do anything to make me mad at ya. Poor Allison being in time out and DH not believing her cry for the potty. Darleen: Can you request a fasting blood sugar test from your dr? Since there is a history of diabetes in my family I have one done every two years just to be safe. I think it is a great idea to be documenting your eating and any strange reactions. Too cute about Nolan & the chips. I think Colton would love it if chips and cookies were the 2 main food groups!! Carla: My son is 18 months and still has not switched completely over to the sippy. I have taken out the spill-proof things and that has made a difference. I have tried to use several different types w/ straws and so forth and am having some success, but sometimes he just insists on the ba-ba. I figure he is still a baby and am not going to force the issue but gradually win him over! Kahne: Sorry to hear what you and Cat are going through. How horrible for her at the hospital. Is she eating/drinking ok? Are there any other symptoms than the high fever? I will keep you two in my prayers. SarahG: Great job Isaaac! Lynda: BAD DH! Sure wasn't nice of him to come home so you could go running and then to wait until he was at the bar to call you--shame shame! I loved your revenge tactic. My DH would say that "you're evil". Glad Ella's rash is finally going away. Makes you wonder why it takes drs so long to figure out what's really wrong sometimes. When I was a child it took my dr over a month to figure out I had lung infection. They tried allergy medicine and other stuff. All the while I threw up anything I had and was miserable and missed lots of school. Even threw up on the bus--but that's another story! Sarah: So Hannah had her first time-out huh. Did it help? I haven't used them for Colton in a while. He is such an angel. LOL!! He just wouldn't sit still in the chair and I took the playpen down to make room for the Christmas tree and it hasn't been put up again. Wow, what a long post. I have to go. I made a tanning appointment that I am off to. I figure I need to look a little healthier if I am going to be interviewing for a new job! Julianne & Colton 18 mo email: jjones@batts.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 12:03:50 (EST)) Hi,SARAH again. I just saw BIRDIE's post and.....YES!!!! I've felt that way EXACTLY...ALOT!! In fact I was just thinking yesterday that I hope nothing ever happens to me while HANNAH and I are alone at home. But I definitely think about long term "bad" things happening, too. Don't feel nutty!! You're not alone in your feelings! OK, that's it! :) Sarah again Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 12:04:15 (EST)) hello--- I've just cleared 2!!!!!! Posts b/f I finished!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be back later!AHHHHHHH!! Helen&Amanda@17mos Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 13:44:49 (EST)) Hello from Rita One more good night. Amy even lost her binky at some point but continued to sleep. Wow. I really want to cut the binky down to just at night and maybe during naps. She is getting splotchy on her face where her binky touches it. The way she is going, I'll bet that she wants to potty train by the end of the year. Watch out Maddy! Beth - I don't think that anything you would say would cause offense. I count on you being here and posting, you know, although I may not always respond. I wish that Allison would teach Maddy how to poop in the toilet. We are still fighting that battle with my most stubborn DD. Birdie - No, your concerns are not strange. Those thoughts were one of the reasons that I went in for a physical. Plus, one of the moms on the January Board had a heart attack on Thanksgiving and had an emergency bypass, which woke me up. (I had some strange chest pains and have a family history of heart disease) When I heard about Diana (de), I was really upset and have thought a lot about her family and how they are doing. If there is anything that I can to do to improve my health, I am going to do it. Now, if only I could get DH on the same bandwagon. Kahne - Poor little Cat. Let us know how she is doing. Maddy had the flu and ran a fever from 101-104 for five days before it finally broke and she got better. Darleen - I would definitely follow up on finding out about what happened the other day. (See my post to Birdie) Sorry about Nolan's eye infection. Amy had one a couple months after her birth. Helen - Thanks for the pictures. I love Amanda's Christmas dress. How about some pictures of you? Christi - Maddy is back to normal (fiesty and challenging). Some days we are constantly giving her time-outs it seems. She still has a major problem with Amy and toys. I have read that sharing really doesn't develop until around four. I sure hope so! Lisa B - You efficient and hard-working woman! How are you feeling? I would be a bit put-out by what the ILs did. They should at least have restocked your depleted foodstuffs. Lynda - Bad DH! I hope that he has made amends. My Ex would do similar things (thank goodness we did not have children) and drove me crazy at times. He wouldn't call, though. Julianne - So Colton is a waterbaby? Amy is much more comfortable than Maddy was at the same age. We took Amy swimming in my sister's pool when she was five months and she loved it. I had her on her tummy with just her head out of the water and "floated" her all around the pool. She was laughing the whole time. Hi Kelli, Sarahg, Sarah, Louise, Patty, Debbie and anyone else that I mave have missed - I didn't ake notes. Gotta get to work. Take care everyone! Rita & Amy email: ritad@home.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 14:53:36 (EST)) Hi from CathyG - Things are picking up at work which is great - I don't have to try and keep busy, it is just happening. DH is due back tomorrow, and we are very anxious to see him. Since we have all made out so well, we are dining at McDonalds tonight - our little reward!! Beth - I always enjoy your posts and reading about Allison. I just find that those who I read first tend to get better notes than those I read towards the end ( just lazy I guess). That said, I think Allison is doing so well at telling you when she has to go. DH just has to learn to recognize the signals! Kahne - Poor you and Cat. I've had experience with both fifth disease and rosacea, and neither one should make her feel so sick. Hope she feels better soon! SarahG - I live in Ottawa, in Canada. We have had a pretty mild winter up until the last week or two, but it sure can get cold. Birdie - I think the kind of worries you are having are quite normal, and probably will come and go to varying degrees. I tend to focus on them more when I hear any sort of bad news about people. Julianne - Colton must be part fish. I liked about the tooting! Alison has just started recognizing toots as a funny thing, and if I make any sort of reaction to one, she just laughs so hard. Bye everyone, see you tomorrow. CathyG and Alison (17 motnhs) Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 16:33:32 (EST)) Howdy moms from Sue and Cameron. It's snowing to beat the band outside, so I should have a really lovely ride home after work - not! Like LISAB, I usually enjoy my long commute to unwind before hitting home and the suppertime frenzy, but I hate to drive in the snow and slop. I know, I know, I CHOOSE to live in New England and you folks in Canada have it much worse, but I hate to drive in the stuff just the same. Cam is doing great, but is being a little stinker when he's diaperless. Every time he's "undone" to have his diaper changed or to get in the tub, etc., he pees on purpose and thinks he's really funny. I'm sure he's doing it on purpose because he starts, stops, starts, stops - laughing the whole time! What a little bugger! I keep telling him "no" and try not to make too big a deal out of it so he's not encouraged by the attention, but don't know what else to do about it. Do any of your little boys do this? Do you think he'll just get bored with it sooner or later? I used to like to let him play naked for a few minutes each evening before his bath, but now I can't risk it! Other than that he's fine. We did have a major breakthrough at dinner the other night when he picked up a piece of food by himself and put it in his mouth! Since then, he's eaten two cheerios, a piece of banana, and a bite of an arrowroot cookie on his own, so there may be hope that I won't have to spoon feed him until he's 16. LOL! I saw a couple of posts venting about DHs - must be the full moom because I've been annoyed with mine all day today and he hasn't even done (or not done) anything to deserve it. This is a phenomenon I call "FFM." Very similar to PMS, but stands for "F-----g Full Moon." LOL! BETH - Sorry for not responding to you personally. I do like hearing from you and your adventures with Allison! I can only seem to get here every couple of days and usually just skim the posts to see how everyone is doing. RITA - yuck! I thought I had had some weird medical things happen to me, but I think you've won the contest for the time being! BIRDIE - I, too, think the same thing about my health and safety since Cameron was born. I can't stand the thought of him having to live with somebody else if anything happened to me or dh! KAHNE - hope poor Cat is feeling better soon! CRYSTAL - nice to hear from you, stranger! EVERYONE ELSE - "hi" and have a great afternoon. Sue and Cameron email: sbarry@key.org Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 16:50:44 (EST)) It's Michelle, as I was finishing reading your posts Riley wandered in her with Evan's slippers on. They are big bright green bugs with big heads. They have hats and antennas and 6 legs each and are really fat. What a picture! He can barely walk but he is pretty darn proud! :o) I finally made an appointment to get my haircut. This may sound lame but I'm pretty excited about it. It's not often us Moms get to sit around and not feel like we should be doing something else! **Lisa B. Sorry to hear about your bbsitting disaster! I'm glad your project has almost come to a close. **Julianne, Enjoy your new necklace - I don't blame you not wanting to buy more when the lady makes 50%. That a rip off! Yay for Colton sleeping! What a lucky dh you have. My dh and I used to own snowmobiles and go out quite often. Sigh, times sure change. Hope he has fun. **Louise - Thank goodness the police weren't there to tell you something bad happened! That happened to me when Evan was a couple of months old. Very scary! **Rita - Maddy's what the He** is funny. Sometimes it's hard not to laugh when they come out with these things! **Christie - Yes, I know a lot of the Toy Story lines, I'm so tired of that movie. I did see #2 and it was excellent. We even took Evan to the theatre to see it and he sat through the whole thing. He's 2 1/2 so I was a little worried. I was sitting beside him and looking at him sitting there munching on his popcorn and I was so proud I had tears in my eyes! What a sap I am. Sorry to hear about your stories. That is so sad. There is just something about children dying. It breaks my heart even though I don't know them. Somehow it seems different than when an older person dies I guess. **Birdie - Eeek, scary. I can't believe that happened to you. You must have been freaked. Is there an increased chance it could happen again? I think you were smart to wait to ask what happened, and very brave. **Beth - Sorry! Poor Allison and Dh. **Darleen - once when I was pregnant half of my face went numb. I really wish I could remember what it was called but it was nothing to worry about and I'm fine now. I couldn't move it at all and my mouth and eye slanted downward (like a stroke). Maybe you should see someone else to see if it is just that. It would save you the worry at least. I hope you are ok. ***Moriah - WE MISS YOU! I hope you guys are ok and you are just making up for lost time with Geoff :o) . ***Jennifer - Where are you? *** Kelli - how are you feeling? Did you get Elizabeths haircut yet? What about your sandwhich craving, has it been satisfied? LOL. Take care all, I'm going up to the boys rooms to hang wood shelves for books and bear. FuN stuff. Michelle and Riley 16 mo email: mwells@telusplanet.net Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 16:54:40 (EST)) This is Birdie again. Noah is asleep. I really got a lot of work done today with Noah out. I missed him though. I am so glad to hear that my concerns are normal. I thought it seemed so egotistical or self absorbed. I've never really thought about it so much until Noah. Now I think all the time about "what if...". I don't mean all the time like I can't think of anything else. I just mean it's something I've never really thought or cared about. I fugured whatever happenes happens but now I'm so scared of something happening. I, like Rita, took a good look at myself and went to the Dr for a complete physical, had the teeth and eyes checked, and a mole I've had my entire life. I started working out at the gym 3-4 nights a week and it's all to be sure I'm around for Noah. The thought of him being without his mommy makes me so sad. Anyway, thanks and I'm glad I'm not the only one. (Thanks sarah, Cathy, Rita, and Sue) Michelle- DR says there should never be any problems from it. If there were he said he would have told me right after it happened and not waited. It just sounds so creepy to me. I have never heard of it happening. Take care. Birdie and Noah (13 months) email: LJU777@AOL.COM Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 17:25:20 (EST)) Lello! Poor Riley has croup/bronchial asthma stuff. I stayed home from work today and took him to the dr. They put him on albuterral. He's sleeping right now. Hopefully I can go to work tomorrow. My boss is very understanding, but I don't want to take too much advantage of her good nature. Beths peepee story sounds a lot like one I experienced yesterday. I was laying in bed reading after I woke up. Riley started playing and wanted his wet diaper off. I like to let air get to his hynie, on account of he has my very sensitive skin. Well, he started touching his penis. I ignore this, because it's natural. He starts telling me peepee. Well, I thought he meant this is my peepee. I said yes, that's your peepee. What he really meant was, I need to peepee. So he stood up and did so. All over my nightgown and bedding. Once he starts, he can't stop. But, the little bugger, laughed the whole time. You know what I mean, Sue?! I was drenched! But, the bright side here was, It wans't poop! I'm getting my hair cut today. Moriah told me to go to hairdos.com. I did and printed out a pic to take to my stylist. She is my nextdoor neighbore. She's also going to put a rinse onit. I have red hair. I was born with it. Riley has red hairtoo. I have always loved my hair, because it's different then most everyone elses. I don't know what has happened, but if one more person asks me where Riley got his red hair I will cry! Maybe it has faded. So I guess I will have to start dying my red hair, red! For all those idiots who are colour blind!!!!!! Exdh and I are getting closer and closer. He has been coming over every couple of days. I'm enjoying it. I really believe that he is turning over a new leaf. The boys are so happy to have their dad back and I am so happy to have my friend back! Maybe, in the future, things might turn a different way for us. Who knows? Well, I'de better go and get ready for my appointment. Tomorrow, I get my nails done. My friend is doing them for free. She loves my entertaining stories about certain things that happen in my life, so she said this set was on her. Wasn't that nice? We went to school together since 7th grade. New hairdo, new nails! Now, if I can just schedual in that boob job, I'll be set!!!!!!!!!!! Shelly & Riley Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 17:41:58 (EST)) Hi mommies. Another four inches of snow here last night, so guess what? No school again today. Nice that I got a day home with Jarin, but I hate it that it makes two days we have to make up now. Not to mention, we had Monday off for MLK Day and Friday is Records Day. Didn't really need another day off this week. I know, I know, b*tch when I have to work, b*tch when I don't. LOL Jarin now points to our pantry door and says "fish" because he wants some goldfish crackers. It is too cute. Of course, it doesn't come out fish, but we know what he means. Also today he had a poopy diaper and I said, "Come here so I can change your diaper." He thinks this is a clue to run away, so he sat on our fireplace bricks and said "no,no" and shook his head. I told him, "Yes,yes" and he kept saying "no,no". It was so funny. DD was cracking up. Jesse has been outside to play in the snow three times already today. He's having a ball and he looks so cute out there all bundled up. =) **Rebecca: I think your MIL was inconsiderate if she told you she would be there at acertain time. She should realize how hard it is to keep a baby up past her nap time. **Shelly: LOL at the "little widdler". I've called it lots of things before, but that was a new one to me. I was also laughing at the list of chores Riley made for you. I could just picture you doing your Tom Cruise imitation in your underwear and shades. And the hampster? Gees, Louise, is there no end to the excitement at your house? heehee **LisaB: Sorry to hear that your ILs took advantage of your MIL while she was at your house! Sounds like you didn't have much of a fun Saturday night. **CathyG: Gee, I thought it was cold here at -6C - but -51!!!!! I can just see Alison trying to put on DH's big boots. She'll be waddling all over your house. =) **Julianne: Yay for Colton sleeping! Hope it continues. That's cute he yells for dada in the morning. All Jarin ever wants is me. Sounds like the tub is becoming his favorite place. =) **Juls: The precious moments and Anne Geddes rooms sound so adorable. **Louise: LOL at James calling the police. A state trooper is just a police officer who works for the state (in our case, Indiana). They are the ones on the road, giving tickets, checking out crimes, etc. I can't wait to tell DH about James. =) **Rita: Your MD makes me sick jogging at 5 months PP. I'm lucky if I can find the time/energy/desire to walk, let alone jog. LOL. I'm sending some more sleeping vibes to Amy. Hope the streak continues. LOL at you living in the house of hormones in ten years. **Christi: Sorry to hear all those sad news stories. I know I just think "How in the world could someone do something bad to a child?" when I see all the terrible things on the news. LOL at me being an ok teacher as long as it wasn't your kid I was excited about being absent. **Birdie: Wow, I've never heard of a uterus turning inside out before. I also worry about something happening to me, especially since Jarin is such a mama's boy. I used to get in the car for a short trip and skip the seatbelt. Not anymore - now I think, what if I were to get in a wreck? Jaime and Jesse both went to preschool. Jaime went to a church-sponsored one and she really enjoyed it, plus she was ready for Kindergarten. Jesse went to the YMCA and hated it because he hated the swimming part. He was in daycare (the one with all the kids) so I knew he was "socialized" and he was already reading at 5, so I skipped the second year of preschool with him. **Beth: Poor Allison - having diarrhea and being in time out all at the same time! I was LOL at your story about the "bad kid" being out with strep throat. I felt horrible after I posted the other day - turns out my troublemaker is in the hospital with asthma again! **Darleen: I used to get migraines and when they switched my b/c pill, I quit getting them. Jarin also loves junk food. =) **Carla: Just keep trying. I ditched the spill proof cups because Jarin couldn't get anything out. My dd had her bottle until she was almost 3. **Kahne: Poor Cat!!! I hope she is feeling better soon. I will be saying a prayer for her. **Sarahg: Yay for Isaac going #2 and wiping too! Wow! **Lynda: LOL at you unscrewing the cable. =) I'm glad to hear that Ella's rash is looking better. **Sarah: Time outs break my heart too. It's just not fair that my little angel could possibly be in trouble. LOL. Jarin is fine, monster boy as usual, but all he has to do is smile at me and I just melt. =) Hey, do you know that feeling at all? LOL Gotta go take care of the fam. Take care all. Patty and Jarin - 16 3/4 months email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 18:06:38 (EST)) Hi, Romaine and Saba here! Man, DD2 has been keeping me up-she fed 5 times in the night, plus I got up 2 times w/ Saba for...who knows? I used to leave her, but b/c the girls share a room, i don't want DD2 to wake-how silly is that? Today Saba said "My eat cereal!" I am so proud of her!!! Thanks to all of you that are "cheering" us on in the talking. Now if only she showed interest in pottying.... I am days behind, so I apologize to those of you that I am not posting to. I skimmed (again). It is hard if you ahve missed several days. Today the girls naps match, so I hope to catch up on both boards! Kelli-How cute is "Oh nuts"? 26 months sounds like a good space! Sorry the sandwich "dream" did not work out! I crave certain things whenever and it is disappointing when they don't work:( Lisa B-Sorry about job situation. i hope that you will be able to quit when you want! Thanks for your kind thoughts. Good for Max and his new words! Beth- I know what you mean-2 seems so grown up. I look at it in school years and think only 3 left to have her at home! I know what it feels like to be left out! It feels terrible. I am sorry that you felt that way. I have not posted since, but here I am now! Helen-I was in Cape Cod 10 (holy smokes!!!!) years ago w/ my best friend after we graduated from university. Beautiful! You do need a pool for the summer if the summer we were there was typical!! Thanks for the pt info. There is hope yet! Seat covers sound like a good idea. It amazes me how piggish some people are... Julianne-That is a terrible answer. What ways can the murmur affect his health? I like "bide" for bride! Patty- I hear you!!!! Up here, it would be my difficult kids that show up on a "snow" day! A couple of years ago we had a spell of bitter cold. I think it was -35C. I had 5 kids of 27 show up! We combine classes and usually do fun type activites b/c you don/t want others to fall behind. It is also a good day to play "catch-up" w/ work too. Shelly-LOL....something to be said for Boys!!! Birdie-I have heard of the uterus turning out like that. I can't remember where, but I think that it was someone that I know...I think someone from PT had that happen to her. She (I beleive) ended up w/ an emergency hysterectomy-I think that there was more involved than just that. Don't mean to freak you out! Here pre-school starts at age 3 is a couple of hours a day acouple of days a week. I plan to send Saba. Kahne-Prayers for little Cat that all will be found out and made well again! Darleen-Nolan get well as well!! No time for BT today, i guess! Saba is ready to come down now! Romaine and Saba 22 mos email: rrantry@yahoo.ca Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 18:38:09 (EST)) Hey Girly Girls! It's Moriah. Sorry I've been MIA lately - lots going on & not always able to post. Plus sometimes emotionally this board gets hard for me. I know you guys understand. :) WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP - MONSTER POST AHEAD!!!!!!! Moriah & Alex (15 1/2 months) email: geoffandmoriah@msn.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 19:46:10 (EST)) What in the hell just happened?? All the sudden I was at the "thank you for posting" screen. WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP - IDIOT AT THE KEYBOARD! LOL Okay - here goes! Rachel update: She is doing poorly again :(. She came off the ventilator on Sunday only to have to be put back on on Monday afternoon. She then spiked a fever. So last I heard is that they are waiting for the results of blood cultures to determine the fever cause. Then they will be doing the surgery ASAP. I just hope to God that the surgery goes smoothly & Rachel can begin her life. She is almost 7 months old & will be starting from 0. Alex also had a less than stellar Dr appointment on Friday. Once a month his trach tube gets changed for hygiene reasons. Well the Dr screwed it up again - 2nd time in 2 months. Then he started to stuggle on the way home. To make a long story short the hole had started to close because the Dr had cut the tube too short. So we had to rush back to the Dr & he had to stretch the stoma to get a proper sized tube in it. Okay - I was upset by shots last month but this was horrific! It took 2 of us to hold him down while the Dr worked on him & blood spewed from the hole in his neck with every breath. Yah - I know it was awful! Then we finally get home after being gone for like 6 hours & Geoff is pissed at me because the house was messy when he came home. Needless to say I almost changed my name to Loraina that night! Then Tuesday he had a cardiology appointment & they did an echocardiogram. Good news & bad news. The good news is nothing has changed & he doesn't need any more heart medication. So now he's basically "med free"! The bad news is the hole didn't get any smaller & it looks like at this point due to the position of the hole he'll have to have open heart surgery between the age of 3-5. We were hoping that the hole would close on it's own or that the position would be such that it could be closed with a device threaded in through a vein (an out patient procedure). Both Geoff & I cannot even imagine what it will be like to take in a 3+ year old for surgery of that magnitude. Truthfully I'd almost rather do it now - but wouldn't ever dream of that suggestion on the small chance that maybe it's close on it's own. Wait - it get's better! Then yesterday Alex had an opthamologist appointment. He has to go about once a year. Last January was the last time we seen this guy - so you'd think he's comment on Alex's good progress - NO! He asks me how Alex is doing & I'm telling him how wonderful he is & his strides developmentally. And then I mention that we (not to mention our other Dr's & all Alex's therapists) think that Alex does in fact see out of his left eye (remember this Dr told us last year that he was most likely blind in that eye). The Dr looks at me like I'm insane & blurts out (let me quote) "I TOLD you that would never happen - that eye is SERIOUSLY malformed". What an asshole! OMG! How dare he. It was all I could do not to scream obscenties or better yet totally clobber him. At the end of the appointment he tried to be all cheery & asked if I had any questions. I gathered up Alex & as rude as I could said NO & stomped out. He just stared after me. Why would you be any sort of pediatric Dr if you were such a negative person? Okay - venting done! On to the personals Romaine - I hope you feel beter soon. Kidney stones! OUCH! Katy - I'm so sorry for the $ trouble. I wish I had Rosie's money so I could take them away :) HUGS! Birdie - OMG - too cute about Noah & his date. Hey I totally worry about what if something happened to me! Hell no one else even knows how to change Alex's trach ties. I always tease Geoff that I'm leaving a will that gives Alex to his sister because I do not want the wh*re that he marries next to raise my child. Cracks him up! I happen to think that his taste in women (with the glowing exception of myself) is horrible! He'd choose based on cup size rather than IQ. LOL It's a big joke around our house. But seriously I'm way more careful because I want to be around to make dirty gestures to the Dr's when Alex is 10. Laura B - I can't remember if I told you how cute Shane is in those pictures! What's new? Sonata - HI!! How's Eray? Sarah - thanks for missing me :) Made me feel so good! So glad that Hannah is okay. I would have totally worried too. Julianne - Heart murmurs are usually nothing. Alex has a hole in his heart & the murmur is barely detectable - so I'd be willing to bet that if Colton had some sort of big problem it would have already been discovered. Usually heart stuff is apparent early on. I'm sure it scared you though. Let me know if you ever have any questions that maybe I could ask our Dr about for you. I'm sure DH will miss Colton! It was so hard on Geoff when he was away. I felt so bad for him. Helen - what cutie patootie kids you have! Hey can I come swim this summer? LOL Rebecca - your post about your "silly" trip made me smile! I LOVE those days with the 3 of us! Patty - I'm so sorry to hear of the trooper! I know how that is when it get's to you about the Dh's job. During this last crab season 14 men died. It really hit home how lost we'd be without Geoff. :( Sarah G - where in Northern California are you?? Darleen - I agree that you maybe should get a second opinion. I sure don't blame you for being emotional & scared! Hang in there! Lisa B & Kelli - please post your pregnant weeks also! I want to keep up & not loose track. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I'm totally interested in what's up with your bundles! (Oh just typing that word brings tears to my eyes as I remember when Alex was just my bundle - oh the days of bliss & innocence!) Beth - I know what you mean about not wanting Allison to grow up. Truthfully I do not want any of children to grow up as it increases the gap between us. Not too mention that I love having a "baby"! Poor Allison with the "peepee" episode - I bet DH felt really bad! Michelle - Your boys sound too great. Melted my heart Even telling you that you're the best (even if it did raise some eyebrows! LOL). We have a friend & her son LOVED trucks but he said them with an "F" for quite a while. He'd scream that wherever they were when he'd see one. Poor Stacy - she always turned abut 6 shades of red. Pretty amusing for the rest of us though! LOL Hayley - too funny about the wait list! Cathy G - How cute you guys sound dining out at McDonalds. I can't wait for that stuff! Alex also throughs everything off the high chair right now. I caught the bowl the other day in mid air as I rounded the corner. Louise - What a scare! Too funny James calling 999. I'm sure in 10 years you'll crack up over it. Christi - What's going on at that hospital??? Let this be a lesson to all of us that Dr's are not Gods! When you really think something is wrong you have to INSIST! It's hard! Shelly - flyng hamsters? peeing toddlers? Jim on the "good list". Are you sure everything is alright! LOL LOL LOL ! How's your hair? Kahne - AMA huh? I hope everything is okay! That must be so scary for you guys. I know that the IV thing is very hard. Last IV Alex got took 25 sticks - I'm not exaggerating! His veins are hamburger after all that hospital time. What is your Dr doing to rememdy the situation? Lynda - YAH! What a great revenge! That is really good! Oh one more thing (yes eventually I'll shut up!) we have friends that just did IVF. It took & she's prego with twins! YES!!! So happy for them! Okay gotta go! Chat again later. Moriah Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 20:28:16 (EST)) Hi Everyone! Thanks for the support. For now I'm going to try everything my Dr has told me to do. I'm not sure about the Health Care in the U.S., but our's is great, at least it has been for Nolan and myself so far. I was talking to a friend of mine today, and she told me she had almost the same symptoms as I did, and it was a diabetic reaction. Nolan goes for his 1 year needle in a couple of weeks so I might suggest a diabetic test then to the Dr to see if there is a problem of some sort. I don't want to go off the pill yet because I'm not ready for baby #2 yet. But we will see what happens. I will talk to Dh and see what he says, he would love to have a dozen kids. Not!!!!! 2 is enough for me if baby # 2 is a girl when the right time for me comes. No personels tonight I am off to bed early for a change. Thanks again for the support, and I will take everybody's advice if my Dr doesn't do what I want if it happens again. Good night! Darleen & Nolan 14 months email: j7smith@ciaccess.com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 22:13:43 (EST)) Hello, Everyone. My name is Dawn. I use to be on this board a while back when my DD was about 13 or 14 months. However, I haven't been here in quite a while being that's she's 19 months now. Wow! Does time fly. Some of you may remember me. I was the one whose parents watched my DD during the week and I only saw her on the weekends. Well, I am now a SAHM for the time being and I'm loving it. I also have a 6 month old son and therefore I'm also on the Babies Today board as well. Hard to keep up with you ladies. Well, what can I tell you ladies about Erica except she is wonderful, beautiful, smart and a joy (and ditto for Eli, my DS). I think she's going to be a comedian because she has me cracking up all day. Today she said her longest sentence. She said "Can I get ball?" She has a large vocabulary but she rarely puts more than two words together. Her favorite word is "shoes." She loves to put on all of her shoes. She will send hours putting on one pair of shoes, and taking them off. Putting on another pair and taking them off. Most of her shoes have velcro on them so she can easily put them on and take them off. I think she must take after her mother because I too love shoes. Well, she definitely takes after her mother because her second favorite thing is "grandpa" which is actually the phone. Yes, she calls the phone grandpa because most of the time when I'm talking on the phone, I'm talking to her grandma, which means that grandpa is somewhere around. Keep up with me people, you have to understand toddler talk. She loves her grandpa and has to talk to him at least 10 times a day. She actually holds long conversations with him. Don't ask me what language she speaks, but she moves her hands and walks around the room and everything like she is telling him something really exciting. She even stops and cracks up laughing and slaps her knee like she just told the funniest joke in the world. It always leaves me rolling in laughter on the floor. Shoes and the phone. Yeah, I think she is following in her mother's footsteps quite nicely. She loves to read also. Again, don't ask me what language she reads in because I can't tell you, but she loves to read her books to me. And if it's the Teletubbies Christmas book, she actually says "AAAHHHCCHOOO" (a sneeze) on the page when the Noo-Noo says it too. Erica is also very helpful with her dear brother, Eli. She always wants to feed him his bottle. I let her sometimes, but she pushes the bottle too far in his mouth at times, so I don't always let her help. Anyway, I rambled enough about Erica (I could talk all day about the both of them). Now on to personals. Since I am new, I don't remember who posted about Rachel not feeling well, but I going to add her to my prayers and I hope all goes well for her. Kahne - I'll also add Cat to my prayers as well. I hope all goes well for the both of you. I don't remember Ella's mom's name either, but I'm glad her rash is doing better. Erica had a rash that sounds similar to what you described when she was 1 month old. It was because of the heat (she was born on May 29 and by June 29, early July, it was really hot). The dr told me to put moisterizing lotion on it and I did. It cleared up quite nicely. Carla - Erica is 19 months and still takes her bottle (or gunk, gunk, as she calls it. That's because that's the sound she hears when she swallows. Keep up with me people). I tried to put her on the cup at 12 months, and she was doing fine. Than when she turned 13 months, Eli was born and since he was on the bottle, she, too, only wanted a bottle. So, I started just giving her a cup at lunch. Now, there are times when she only wants the cup and not a bottle. But, I didn't do anything special, she just started asking for the cup on her own. (Well, she calls the cup, "juice".) So, I guess, whenever your DD is ready, she'll go to the cup as well. I wouldn't force it because sometimes when you force it, it backfires and they take longer than they would naturally. That's just my opinion, of course. Birdie - I feel the same way about wanting to be around when my children grow up. I remember praying when both of them were born that I live to at least they are 30. If not 30 until at least they both graduate from college. By that time I think they would be able to make it without me. I also got a couple of more life policies on myself just in case. I'm actually worth more dead than alive. Sorry, bad joke. But it's the truth. But you are not nuts feeling that way. I'm sure we're not the only ones with those thoughts. Well, I just realized I wrote a monster post. I guess I'm just making up for lost time. Got to run. Until next time. Dawn Fields email: ShmooDJE@aol,com Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 23:26:28 (EST)) Hi, Louise here, very quick post, I'll catch up properly later, just wanted to do a couple of personals: BIRDIE - I worry about that stuff A LOT too. I never used to give it a second thought. My big fear is of something happening to me while I'm alone in the house with James (not trying to give you more to worry about!!) I think it just goes with the Mother territory. MORIAH - I really feel for you after the day you had. I could hit that Opthamologist for you too. YOU know what progress Alex has made though. And I'm sorry about the possibility of heart surgey - I'll keep praying that it won't come to that. We all know what a little star he is. Later! Louise & James email: rnash78035@aol.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 07:27:26 (EST)) Hi all, it's baby Beth here! I still feel horrible for ever saying anything about feeling ignored. I know that it's hard to respond to EVERYONE! and I know from time to time some people are bound to be left out. Thanks to everyone for reassuring me! I really appreciate you guys so much. Sorry I was such an immature baby!! I have a whole page of personals to type, but by boss is hanging around helping the girl at the next desk so I had better get off her for now. I'll be back later when it's safer.:-) Beth and Allison (19.9 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 10:37:29 (EST)) Good morning, HAPPY FRIDAY!!! :) :) SARAH here. I'm leaving work at 10 today, so I've got alot to do, but wanted to check in here first...PRIORITIES!!! :) Not much new on this end, of course I could go in to what a sweet girl HANNAH has been lately, but you've all heard that!!! LOL Another thing HANNAH has started doing with the "pottie" is lifting up the toilet lid and waving bye-bye. Too cute!! SUE - Funny story about CAM peeing (sorry!) MICHELLE - HANNAH puts her daddy's slippers on all of the time and tries to walk around, and then gets real mad when she trips over them. Go figure! I know what you mean about getting excited to get a haircut!! Have fun. SHELLY - Sorry RILEY is so sick. I hope he gets better soon! Geez, have fun getting pampered!!! :) I hear ya on the boob job!!!!! PATTY - It must be nice staying home, but I know what you mean about JARIN getting used to it. Cute story about JARIN saying "no no" to a diaper change. HANNAH has started walking up to me and pulling on her diaper when she poops! NO WAY, HANNAH NEVER MAKES MY HEART MELT!!! OK Mrs. "Cry like a baby when HANNAH was put in time out!!" LOL MORIAH - Good to hear from you. I emailed you yesterday, too. Sorry to hear about some of the SH#$ you were told the last couple of days! Just remember, I always keep ALEX in my prayers. You never know what will happen in 3 years. Look at all of the accomplishments he's made when you were told otherwise! Sorry to hear about RACHEL. I will continue to pray for her and her parents. DAWN - I remember you!!!! Welcome back! Wow, ERICA is growing up fast!!! So is ELI. Last time I remember hearing from you, he was a newborn!! HELLO to everyone else! I hope you all have terrific weekends!!! I'll "talk" to you all on Monday!! :) Sarah and Hannah email: smoore@geatoir.cfer.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 11:03:48 (EST)) Hi from CathyG - Well, dinner at McDonalds was all that could be expected, but atleast I didn't have dishes to do. It is sooo cold here, I went to sleep with my big slippers on, and the entire duvet wrapped around myself. I just shiver to think of Alison sleeping without a cover, but she always seems so nice and toasty when she gets up. She has extra warm fleecy sleepers from lands end for winter, and they must work. I wish they made them for grown-ups. Well, DH is home tonight, so that should help (wink wink)! No one from Philadelphia, eh? I would seriously consider moving anywhere south of here right now, but maybe that's not far enough south. Sue - here, at least if it's snowing, it is warmer. Too bad about the commute though. I like my quiet time on the way home too! I am taking the bus sometime now, and I get to read! What a luxury. Michelle - enjoy your haircut. I love it when I get my hair shampooed. Shelly - enjoy yours too. I'm glad things are going well between you and exdh. Hope Riley is better soon. Patty - wow - 4 inches of snow and they close the schools? I hope you get caught up . Jarin has started the no's!! He must have been so cute. Moriah - What a terrible week you've had. I can't believe the last Dr. What a jerk!! They shouldn't let them out of med school unless they demonstrate a positive "bedside manner". I really hope and pray for Alex's hole to close - after all you've been through it doesn't seem fair that he would need heart surgery. Take care!! Darleen - Hope you had a good sleep. Dawn - You must be busy with 2 little ones. Alison loves the Noo-Noo too. We have one with a cloud and spilled tubby custard where the Noo-Noo sneezes and she does it too. It is so cute. Beth - Hope you are having a good day at work, and that your boss goes away. I am really lucky, when I left on Mat. leave, someone else took my office, so I am now on a different floor from my boss, so I don't have to worry. He's pretty hands-off anyway, as long as I bill enough. So, I'd better get going. Have a good weekend everyone! CathyG and Alison (17 months) Friday, January 21, 2000 at 12:27:09 (EST)) Happy Friday from Sue and Cameron YEAH! (Wow! That looks alot like a message from SARAH!). Even though this was a four day workweek, it feels like it's been going on forever and ever. The snow yesterday ended up not being a big deal, just a big headache. Just enough to make everything look clean and pretty - and make the side roads slippery. It's bitterly cold out, too. Tomorrow's high temp. isn't supposed to rise above 9 degrees. Brrrr! Looks like I'd better think up some good indoor activities for Cam, DH, and I. Poor Cameron has a monster cold again. He looked pretty worn out last night, but sounded okay and was playing and laughing. He woke up about 3:00 a.m. all stuffed up and coughing. Poor guy! He did feel a little warm this morning, but ate well and seemed happy enough so he went to daycare. I think I might scoot out early today to bring him home and get in some extra cuddle time. DH and I have another "date" tomorrow night. No special plans, we're actually taking advantage of having our nieces next door for a few more weeks. We have twin 15-year-old nieces who live right next door and fight over babysitting for Cameron when we do have plans. They've bought a new house and will be moving in a few weeks, so these next couple of weekends may be our last outings for some time. Might as well enjoy while we can! Sorry, not too much time for personals except: MORIAH - sorry to hear about your and Alex's miserable day! What School of Bedside Manner did that doctor attend? For people given the skills and power of healing the sick, you'd think they'd have at least a touch of sensitivity! Speaking of the sick, I've been including Rachel in my thoughts and ask that you guys add my friend and co-worker to yours. She had surgery this morning to remove a tumor from her adrenal gland. They'll have to determine whether or not it's malignant, but chances are that it is judging by prior tests and her symptoms. Such a nice woman with two little kids. Thanks. Okay, enough blabbering from me. Hope everyone has a safe, healthy, and happy weekend. Sue and Cameron email: sbarry@key.org Friday, January 21, 2000 at 13:25:59 (EST)) Hi!, I'm back, Beth here. My boss just left to go to lunch so I should be safe for a little while anyway. DH, Allison and I are going for a short trip this weekend to one of our state parks. DH will be leading tours to see bald eagles which means Allison and I will be on our own for most of the day on Saturday. As DH says, it's colder than a witches t*tty in a brass bra here so I'm not too sure what we'll be able to do, but at least we will be out of the house for a while. Should be fun. I'm leaving work about an hour or so early today to head out. Sue - Cam peeing is too funny. I was LOL thinking about him stopping and starting his stream. Michelle - I bet Riley was too cute in Evan's slippers! Allison likes to wear DH's shoes, esp his big boots, but she can't walk in them. They go way up to her thigh when she puts them on. Shelly - I hope Riley feels better soon. Let us know how your hair turns out. I'm going to have to check out hairdos.com and see if I want to do anything radical to my hair at my appt. on Monday. Patty - I bet Jarin is too cute saying "no" when you try to change his diaper. Sorry you got so many days off. The only drawback to snow days is that they have to be made up when it's pretty. Moriah - I was LOL at your IDIOT at the keyboard comments. Too funny. Sorry your Dr.'s were full of not so good news. I think I would have slugged that opthamologist. Oh well, he will have to be the first one you visit when Alex gets his pilots license. (you can only be a pilot if you have 20/20 vision!) Dawn - I remember you! So glad you are a SAHM now. Erica is just 5 days younger than Allison. She sounds like a real trip!! Welcome back. Rita - I hope Amy potty trains more easily for you than Maddy. Julianne - Colton sounds like a typical male, tooting in the tub and getting such a kick out of it. Birdie - I agree with all the others that it's totally normal to not want anything to happen to you because of your little one. I hate to think of Allison calling another woman "mommy". It tears my heart out. Sarah - so you cried worse than Hannah at her first time-out huh? Making it 16 months is pretty good though! Lisa B - So glad you have had good progress at your work. Have you decided for sure if you're going to be SAHM after BB#2 gets here? Louise - I think 999 is a dangerous # to have as your emergency number. Much too easy for a little one to dial by mistake, only one number to hit. At least with 911 they have to get 2 numbers in there.(unless you have it programmed on speed dial, like me!!) Lynda - how inconsiderate of DH to stop at a bar when he knew you wanted to go running. I like the cable trick. Immature, but still very funny! Sarah g - what are you studying at school? Good luck with your online class this semester. Kahne - I will be praying for Cat. Please keep us updated on her progress. Darleen - We had a friend that had a condition know as Bell's Palsey. It was a temporary paralysis on one side of his face. It looked like he had had a stroke and lasted several months then went away. I don't know too much about the condition, but maybe this is a possibility. Cathy G - My boss is pretty laid back too, but I don't like to press my luck anymore than is necessary! Well, I guess I should at least try to get something accomplished today. Talk to you ladies later. Beth and Allison (19.9 months) email: bobwite@msn.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 13:35:08 (EST)) Hi from LisaB. DH gives Max his bath most of the time and afterwards Max cuddles on DH's lap, grinning into the mirror. Then he comes looking for me. I yell "naaakkked BABY" real loud & hold my arms open. Max will literally do a running lunge into my arms, throw his arms around my neck, and giggle as he hugs me. The past week or so thou, he'll come out in the hall, see me, and then RUN into the bathroom and slam the door shut, giggling the whole time. I miss my monster hugs from my naked little boy :-( RITA and SARAH: I'm doing good. I'm real tired and generally go to bed with Max, around 9 at night (but since I get up at 5 that's only 8 hours of sleep). I've been a little lightheaded the last few mornings. I'm also feeling nauseous ALL the time ... but NO vomiting! I'm really excited about that because after my last pg I'm afraid if I ever start vomiting I'll never be able to stop. BIRDIE: Yep, add me to the list of "worry warts". I don't constantly worry but whenever I see an accident, hear about an accident, hear about someone with health problems, etc. I wonder what would happen to Max if the "victim" was me or DH. SUE: It's funning that Cam pee intentionally when naken!!! SHELLY: Poor Riley, being sick. Too funny about him peeing on you! PATTY: Yeah for Jarin saying "fish". Max will ocassionally say cracker but you never know if he wants goldfish, animal crackers, teddy grahams, etc. - LOL!!! The "no-no" was hilarious!! ROMAINE: Get some sleep, you poor thing. MORIAH: How horrible that the doctor messed up Alex's tube. I'm glad Alex is off the meds but hope he can avoid surgery. It's too bad the opthamologist refuses to admit that he made a mistake - Alex will show him, won't he - just like he's shown his other doctors!!!! Shame on Geoff getting mad at you for not cleaning, especially after the crap you went thru. I'm sure you gave him a hard time about it - LOL! DAWN: Of course I remember you! BETH: I currently plan to work until Max starts school. I know it's stupid but it was easier to think about quitting before I got this huge raise. The extra I'll make in these 4 years (Max won't start school until he's almost 6 due to a late August b-day) will more than cover daycare costs, pay for us to trade the car in for a minivan, help us pay off the house quicker, build up savings for the kid's college educations, etc. I still plan to find a part-time job once Max starts school. A big part of it is due to growing up fairly poor; I'm afraid to get in that situation again. Plus my Mom has heart problems and can't get affordable insurance, my parents both work but can barely make ends meet with the farm so they have little saved for retirement, etc. and my sisters both live hand to mouth so I fully expect to provide financial support for my folks when they get older. Also, I love knowing that I can quit at any time and become a SAHM. It makes work a little less stressful when you know you have that option available!!! My plan is to start taking off more time from work, especially little 1/2 days to take one or both of the kids (depending on their ages) to the park, to a movie, bowling with the gutter guards, roller skating, etc. I figure if work complains too much I'll tell them - hey, I can afford to quit and I will if you make me mad!!!! I'll shut up know - I know I've probably told you and everyone else more than you EVER wanted to know. LisaB, Max (16 mo), and BB#2 (5 wks in utero) email: lisa_lab@hotmail.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 14:48:49 (EST)) Hi mommies. Monster boy is napping, so here I am again. Can't really think of any new and amusing things Jarin has done so far today, so I guess I'll get right to the personals. **Michelle: Have fun getting your hair done. I love the time I get to spend in the beauty shop. Riley sounds so cute in Evan's slippers. Jarin always gets Jesse's slippers and puts them on. They are big Goosebumps claw slippers and it is a riot when he wears them. I took several pictures last time he did it. **Shelly: Enjoy getting your hair and nails done! **Romaine: I hope you get more sleep tonight. Yes, those difficult kids are, of course, the ones who rarely miss school. Go figure. **Moriah: So, did you have trouble posting? LOL. Thanks for the update on Rachel I continue to keep her and her family in my prayers, along with you and Alex. I'm sorry the dr visits weren't very positive. The opthalmologist was a jerk. I agree with you - Drs don't know everything. The drs gave Jesse a 10% chance of outgrowing his kidney/bladder problem without surgery. Guess what? It went away on its own. Miracles do happen and with all the people praying for Alex, you should never give up hope. The trach problem sounds awful. Poor Alex and poor you having to watch that! I can't imagine. Congratulations on your friend's successful IVF. Wow, 14 men died doing Geoff's job? That is really scary. No wonder you hate it when he's gone. =( **Dawn: Welcome back. I can't believe Eli is six months old already. Seems like you were just prego with him! Erica sounds too cute talking and laughing on the phone to grandpa. I'd be cracking up too. **Beth: Enjoy your weekend trip! We have to make up these two days on built-in make up days - one on President's Day and one on March 31st. So now we have no days off until Spring Break. UGH! You are not a baby. I think we all feel left out when no one posts to us. **Sarah: Jarin also waves bye-bye to the toilet, and it cracks me up. But pointing to his diaper? LOL No way - he takes off running instead. I think Hannah will be potty trained way before him. LOL **CathyG: Turns out we actually got six inches of snow and the roads had some ice underneath. Then with the wind, parts of the county had "white out" type conditions, so that is why they closed school. Originally we were on a two hour delay. I'm sure this is nothing for you Canadians. LOL **Sue: Hope you enjoy your date out tonight and I hope that Cam is feeling better by the time you get him picked up. I also hope that everything works out ok for your coworker/friend. How scary. **Take care everyone. Think I'd better spend some time with Jesse before Jarin wakes up. Patty and Jarin - 16 3/4 months email: tematheny@ctlnet.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 15:20:21 (EST)) Hello from Julianne & Colton, finally. I was out most of the morning on an interview so I have been playing catch up. I had a great interview and really like the job. I have to meet with the rest of the HR staff and 2 MFG Supervisors next week and if I impress them enough I should get the job offer. It would be great because they don't need someone right away and it's only a couple of miles from where I work now--wouldn't have to change daycare for Colton. The job is open because of a mother who is PG w/ #2 that wants to quit after she has the baby. She is due mid-February. I should be done w/ my job here by then and hopefully be able to have a week or two off in-between. Cross your fingers for me. I was really worried about Colton missing DH as he started asking for DH on the ride home from daycare last night. Once home he didn't mention da-da again until I went to get into the shower this morning. I think he thought Dh was in there and was surprised when I went to get in and nobody was there! Hopefully he will be good and not cry for Dh too much this weekend. Birdie: I know what you mean about thinking how Colton would be w/o me. I have even thought about what I would do if I came down w/ a terminal illness and knew that I would be leaving him. It really puts the important things in life in perspective. I feel guilty if I don't think I played enough fun things w/ him before I put him to bed at night. Rita: Yeah for another good night's sleep. Sue: I don't think little boys or grown men ever get sick of showing off their peeing skills!! Maybe it is time to get the potty chair out and put some pee targets in that he can practice hitting w/ his pee stream. Sorry to hear Cam is sick again. Hope you have a great time on your date. Michelle: Enjoy your time at the hair salon. Shelly: Too funny about Riley peeing on you. Enjoy your new hair & nails. Hope Riley gets over his croup soon. Patty: Wow, another snow day. Luckily our winter has been very mild in MI this year. You must be getting the worst of it! Colton too thinks that "come here" means "let's play chase". He always grins and runs the other direction. Romaine: Hope you get more sleep tonight. The dr didn't give me too much into on Colton's heart murmur as he felt is wasn't something to be concerned about at this time. Maybe I am a bad mom, but I didn't press him on the issue. Moriah: You made me laugh about all your WHOOPS! So sorry to hear what you have had to go through w/ the various dr visits this week. I can't imagine the horror you must have gone through w/ the tube fiasco. Isn't there a way for them to check it better before you leave? I certainly hope you and Alex never have to go through that again. I can't believe how you were treated by the eye doctor either. Is there any way you can switch? Didn't sound like he was even interested in checking Alex out to see if there had been any progress. You should have pointed out to him that drs have been wrong in the past about Alex and that drs do make mistakes. How you managed to keep your cool is beyond me. I think I would have burst out crying and yelling. You are such a strong person. Thanks for your input on Colton's heart murmur. I will keep baby Rachel in my prayers also. Dawn: Welcome back. Erica sounds like she is developing a wonderful and funny personality. CathyG: Hope Dh helps keep you warm tonight. I have to admit that I slept great last night w/ DH gone. Even more amazing, the bed barely needed any straightening--Dh always makes such a mess of the covers. Beth: Have fun at the park, but don't freeze. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Julianne & Colton 18 mo email: jjones@batts.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 15:22:10 (EST)) Hey everyone, from miserable Kelli. OH MY GOSH, I think I'm dying! I've had "all day sickness" the last 2 days. Yesterday, I couldn't even keep a sip of water down. I ate some saltines but they came right back up about 10 minutes later. So, all I had all day was: nothing. I must have vomited 10 times, mostly during the early evening though. I also had diarrhea. At 2:00 this morning, I woke up and had diarrhea and was hugging the trash can at the same time. I'm sure you guys are getting a real kick from reading this post! I was NEVER this sick with Elizabeth. I feel nausious all the time. Today, I've been able to keep a few saltines and some Gatorade down, but I haven't braved anything else yet. I may try to eat something tonight. We'll see. The weird thing is that a good salad sounds so good, but I feel too sick to eat anything right now. Oh, and then this morning, Elizabeth woke up and I walked in her room and walked right back out to the bathroom to vomit. I went back in with a bandana over my nose. She had diarrhea EVERYWHERE. I called dh to come home because I was so sick on top of that lovely suprise Elizabeth had for me. Luckily, he has a pretty lenient job and schedule so he came home for the rest of the day. Elizabeth is feeling fine... I think she had the diarrhea because of the Augmentin she's taking for her ears, also she's teething. Anyway, we've had a couple of yucky days. I think I'm beginning to feel a little better, just that terrible queezy feeling. Atleast I haven't vomited in the past couple hours. I hope you guys are doing much better than I am. I'm sorry to be such a downer. I'll post more when I feel a little better. You guys take care! Kelli & Elizabeth, 18 months email: rkncs@aol.com Friday, January 21, 2000 at 16:37:27 (EST)) Howdy Ho Ladies, Leanne Here I have really got to get back into the swing of things dont I. My last post isnt even here anymore! Well so much has happened lately, hitting the 24weeks point is always exciting and baby is kicking and moving like mad! Heatburn has hit which I expected, but have found eating an apple before bed really helps! We moved Alexis and Cynthia down stairs into there new room on Sunday! Guess what!! No problems. We are so happy. The room looks so good, we painted it a rasberry color and I did alot of stenciling in it and the girls just love it! So no problems with the sleeping.. WOO HOO> Now the next obsticale will be getting Veronica in to her big girl bed. She turned 17months on the 10th and I dont want to move her too soon. Cynthia was in a big bed at 15 months but that was because Veronica was due the next month. I think I will try to hold off till 1 month before baby is due, so sometime in April. I just find that as soon as they move into beds that they dont nap as well.... have any of you found that??? Getting mixed feelings lately. This week was so hard with the kids, Veronica and Cynthia seemed to be at each other all week, and I found my self yelling constantly which I HATE!! Last week was great they played so well together and I finally thought that Cynthia was over her hitting and pushing stage.... not so. I am hoping it is just b/c they have been tired lately.. I keep thinking, what will it be like with 4! I can barley lay down now, but am at least getting decent enough sleep at night. What is going to happen when the baby is up all night to eat???? I guess I will cross those hurdles when they happen. I am just trying to enjoy being pregnant for the LAST time and spending more quality time with the girls. We went for a great walk today but needless to say I was EXHAUSTED by the time we got home. Pushed it abit I think LOL Thank god for dh is all I can say. He has been working 6 days a week and on Sunday he gets up with the girls and feeds them and gave them a bath! I know he is just as tired as I am... but I really do appreciate that extra hours of sleep if not rest. Looks like we really have the baby bug going on on this board! I did not have the time to look at very many posts but I promise I will this time, I should be able to get on tomorrow too! CONGRATULATIONS; to both Lisa B and Kelli. I have seen you guys posting on the PT board, which I get to about as much as I do this board, I know I am pathetic. Jules: Glad that you found this site! I am as inconsistant with my postings here as I am at PT but I will try harder! HEHEHE To all you mommies I am sorry I cant post to you but when I am on next I will. Those babies grow up so fast dont they! I cant believe that Cynthia is going to be 3 in April! Leanne with Girls Galor!! :) email: 01631583@3web.net Friday, January 21, 2000 at 17:27:45 (EST)) Hi! Sarah g here. Just wanted to say hi! Kelli and Beth- I'm taking classes on web page design. I really hope to be able to work from home in about a year. Kelli- OOOOOO! sorry you are feeling so sick. That's great dh could come home to help you out!! Beth- Hope your weekend is great! Sounds like lots of fun. Moriah- I live between Sacramento and Marysville (in the boonies!!). You're way up on the north coast, is that right, or maybe I just made that up? Sorry you and Alex had such a horrible experience this week at the dr's. That pediatrician sounded just awful! Leanne- How nice that your girls are doing well in their new room! I know what you mean about mixed feelings. It's a constant workout (emotionally too), taking care of our darlings!! Hang in there! Julianne- Good luck on the new job!! Sounds exciting!! Sue- Hope Cameron is feeling better! Dawn- Hi! Welcome back! I think I was just starting to post here about the time you left. Congrats on your new sahm situation!! Romaine- Hope you've had more restful nights!! Shelly- How's Riley feeling? Hair, nails, what fun!! Well, gotta go ladies! Kids will be up soon and I better jump in the shower! Wish me luck on getting into my class this afternoon, another full one!! Have a great weekend everybody! Sarah g and Isaac email: gat_men@hotmail.com Saturday, January 22, 2000 at 10:56:46 (EST)) Hi, it's Michelle, today Riley said "I Yuv oo"!!! It melted my heart! What a little sweety - that is his first sentence, I'm SO PROUD! I got my hair cut yesterday and it was a success. It's so much easier now. It's brown and was down to my shoulders but now it's in a bob just at my earlobes - not my original plan but i sucumbed? to the hair dressers suggestion. AND - my shampoo and massage were WONDERFUL. If only my dh would do that to me one night instead of jumping me. :o) Julianne - Riley has a little murmur to that is not always apparent when the dr. listens and she said (as well as the pediatrician) that it isn't anything to worry about. Apparently a lot of kids have them. Sorry you are worrying. Moriah - My prayers go out to Alex, what a crappy day for anyone to have let alone a sweet little guy like him. I bet he got more than his share of cuddles that night. Lisa B. and Kelli - whoever said we would like to hear about your bundles (I think it was MOriah), is right. We would LOVE to. Beth, HAVE a GREAT week-end! It'll be nice to get away. To bad it is cold! Kelli - Oh your poor girl. Being pregnant with a little one to look after is already tough, never mind when you are that sick. Hope you are feeling better soon! I guess I have to cut this short - dh's ex wife and fiance are coming over this aft to discuss his 14 year old daughter. She is causing us much grief so we are meeting to discuss curgews and what she can and can't do. Hopefully it goes ok! Wish me luck and enjoy your children while they were young because this is NOT fun! LOL. Michelle and Riley email: mwells@telusplanet.net Saturday, January 22, 2000 at 18:14:49 (EST)) Hi mommies, sorry it's been so long since I've posted. We are looking for a house to buy and that takes up alot of time!! Adam didn't take one nap today, but he was surprisingly good. I think he is giving up his morning nap so I have to adjust to that. I am ging to just do personals today and try to catch up: Kelli- no we aren't "trying" for another, but I went off of the pill and wearen't really trying to prevent it either. After my miscarriage, I'm leaving all the baby stuff in God's hands now. Christi- Adam doens't talk much either, but you know what they say? Babies who are late talking grow up to be extremely intelligent!! How said about that toddler. That is so scary! Sarah- Beautiful poem! Michele- LOL at the "misunderstanding"!! Rebecca- Sorry about MIL! Those in-laws can be hell sometimes! Shelly- Someone told me that you can drop Cheerios in the potty and little boys like to try to aim at them..lol..no, really I'm going to try it with Adam when he's ready. He'll probably rather reach in and eat them! Louise- Adam did the same thing!!! One day an officer showed up at m door and said "We had a call to this number..." I said "no, I don't think so" He said the person who dispached him said it sounded like a child, then I remembered that Adam was playing with the phone and I went "OOOHHH" Little snot. Birdie- I've never heard of that, but I'm glad you're ok. Adam is bottle-free during the day, but it is so hard to get him to accept a cup before bed. Some nights he does it, some nights he doesn't. Good luck! you aren't strange for feeling the way you do, I think about things like that all of the time. I think it come along with being a mother. Beth- I'm sorry you feel left out!! Poor Allison, I'm sure DH felt bad. Maybe he'll be more responsive next time! Dareleen- Hope all is ok! Kahne- Wow, poor baby.....I hope they find out what is wrong and make it better!! SarahG- how are those online courses? Do they really work good? I've been wanting to take some! Lynda- About DH.....GOOD FOR YOU!! You go girl!! I would've been equally pissed! Rita- That darn Binki!! I swear, the only reason Adam wakes up at night is because his Binki falls out of his mouth and then when he stirrs, he can't find it. I don't know how he is ever going to sleep without it (or me!)!! I swore up and down when I was pregnant that my kid would never be a "binki addict" but look where I am now!! Sue- I too have a BIG vent about my DH, I'll address it after personals so watch out!! Michelle- I'm in Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas. Shelly- How funny about the "pee-pee"! Today before bath time, Adam was waiting "patiently" for me to fill the tub and he was naked. He peed and it got on his leg, and he was VERY upset! He wanted to wash it off quick! Moriah- I'm saying a prayer for little Rachel! How freaking rude of that Dr!!! I would've clobbered him right there in the office!! Dawn- Your little one sounds lke she is quite the commediene! Leanne- I don't know how I'm ever going to get Adam into a big bed, I'm afraid of him getting up and playing with the plugs, or the cord to his monitor and stuff. Sorry to those I've missed, but I have to vent about DH before he gets home and sees me!! It's about that wrestling thing again. I WILL NOT let Adam watch wrestling as a toddler, and DH says I can't tell him what his son can and can't do, and if he wants him to watch it, then he will. It is so bloody, violent, sexually explicit and everything else that is corrupting today's children!! I don't know what to do. It really isn't an issue right now because Adam is usually in bed when it comes on, but it will become an issue in the next few years. I swear, I will get a divorce before I let my son watch that crap! Any advice? And one more note, you have to know that my DH is the most stubborn man on the planet and he thinks he is Mr. Right. He doesn't back down for nothing!! Well, sorry this post is so long.....I'll see you mommies later!! Jennifer and Adam 17mo email: ddock@gte.net Saturday, January 22, 2000 at 22:35:53 (EST)) |
