My 1-year-old grandchild has eczema on her face and hands. What foodsshould she eat or avoid to help her condition?

Eczema is sometimes associated with food allergies. In that case, the most likely culprits would be cow's milk, soy, eggs, and nuts. Talk to your pediatrician or registered dietitian (RD) before eliminating foods from her diet.
In general, a child with eczema needs a nutritious diet like other children. Plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein foods and calcium foods. I also recommend plenty of omega-3 fats for children with eczema. Omega-3 fats are in fish (especially fatty fish like salmon), nuts (give her thinly spread nut butters like almond and cashew -- 1-year-olds may choke on pieces of nuts), flax seed (which can be used in baking) and flax oil (she could take a teaspoon a day -- mix into food if necessary).
