Introduction

December 30, 2002
I know that reading an entry on someone else’s Christmas may be a tad bit boring but I felt I had to include this in Alecs diary… After all..he is the reason I keep this diary. :o)

*~~*~CHRISTMAS~*~*~
What a wonderful Christmas we were blessed with. The week prior to Christmas I had told my husband the only thing I wanted was snow! Call me crazy but Christmas is just not right to me if there is no snow on the ground. Every evening we would watch the weather reports and it was always the same…. No SNOW was headed our way. :o( I just told myself to deal with it.
Christmas Celebrations started the Sunday prior to Christmas. We had Joes Dads side of the family over. We had a great time and everyone enjoyed themselves. Alec got some gifts that he really needed which made me happy.
He received
A Buzz light-year pulley suitcase Aunt B and Uncle G
TONS and tons of bath toys Gabby and Papa J
A Remote dog Grandma W

The Monday before Christmas Eve our Church held a special service and we missed it because I had procrastinated on getting a couple items and I had to do that instead! Ugh.. Dh stayed home with the kids while I went out and shopped. I will admit that it was kind of nice to go shopping without the kids and zip through the stores without holding hands and running after little ones. When I got in the car I played my music loud and sang on the top of my lungs. I took my sweet time looking at things in the stores and just ignored all the hustle and bustle around me. I treasured my time alone. :o) When I got home there was a mess waiting for me but that was okay… I had gotten some free time and was in the best mood. We woke up late on the morning of Christmas Eve and I ran out once again to pick up a few groceries and I even slipped into Old Navy and got an adorable long sleeve Tee-shirt and cute little socks. Then I was feeling a little crazy and I went to another shop and splurged on a pair of black leather looking ( Pleather?) pants to go with my new shirt and socks. When I got home I gave the kiddos all a bath and got them all decked out in their adorable clothes. I then got myself ready in my new clothes and got a very positive response from Dh on the outfit. Alec really did not have much of a clue as to what was going on around him. He just continued to play with this toys and much on treats that are not normally sitting around the house. At about 1:30 we headed over to my moms house to start the festivities. Right away Alec looked excited and ready to have a blast. We did not do much for the first hour and the time seemed to drag a little. I chased Alec through the dining room and living room about 50 times. He kept going in the living room and hiding under the piano. He is very into hiding now and loves to giggle when you call his name. At around 3:00 we decided to open a couple of gifts before it was time to eat. Alec got excited about this and had no problem pulling the paper off his first gift. The first thing he opened was a box of clothes from Oma of course. There were two long sleeve T-shirts, one with a dump truck and one with a fire engine, a white turtle neck and some very cute carpenter jeans that I LOVED. Alec was less then thrilled with the gift and went off walking as soon as it was opened. He pulled out a plastic boat with doggies out of his stocking and he was happy.: O) After the tease of opening the one gift, my sister arrived with her boyfriend shortly after my grandmother arrived. We went ahead and ate a wonderful dinner and Alec just played with his potatoes and threw them on the floor. He was to full of the cheese, sausage and other snacks from earlier in the day. He was quiet though and let us all enjoy our meal. After dinner it was PRESENT time.:o) All three of the children sat together and waited while we piles all the gifts in front of them. I could tell Alec was a little overwhelmed by all the gifts being pushed in front of him so I sat next to him to help. Here is a list of what he received and I am sure I am missing some things
Bath paint and Lincoln Logs and a movie (Gobblebursh?) Aunt T-T
A stuffed dog and TRU GC Grandma M
A TRU GC Aunt D

~~All from Oma and Papa
Super Heroes bike
Leap Frog Grocery Cart
Plastic Fire truck
Candy
Set of bath foams and paints

He really made out and I was shocked at how much he received. Of course Alec would have been happy with just one gift but it was cute to see him surrounded by so much paper and boxes. Unfortunately, after we opened gifts at my moms house we had to kind of rush out and go to Joes Grandmas house. Alec was a little confused as to why he just opened up all his gifts and then just pack them up and leave. He was a tired little boy now and I was positive he would fall asleep during the 15 min drive. We got to the end of my parents street and he was out like a light. He looked so precious all bundled up in his cute little navy hat and rosy cheeks. We arrived at our second destination and Alec was still sound a asleep. I set him on the couch and took off his coat. He was still sleeping soundly so I let him be and decided to not even try to wake him. He slept for 2 and half hours and through a ton of noise and the craziness of a party. He woke up in a great mood and it was time to open gifts again. Poor little guy must have been SO confused!! LOL He was faced with opening a couple more presents again and was glad to have moms help.
He received
A fleece pillow Uncle Butch and Aunt Rita and kids
A dinosaur Flashlight Grandma and Grandpap S

After opening gifts the little guy was wired and ready to party ( It was about 11:00pm) as everyone was getting ready to leave. I went outside and was SO EXCITED to see that it was snowing like mad outside and the cars were covered in a thick white sheet of snow. I felt like a little girl again! Alec was very much wake the entire ride home and just stared out the window and kept saying “Snooow mommy Snoooow” I think I had a smile on my face the entire time we drove home.
It tool us about 15 minutes to unload all the gifts from the car. While Joe ran to my parents house to pick all the gifts we had stashed there I put the kids to bed. Jt and Autumn were asleep very quickly but Alec was still not sleepy. I put a movie on for him in his room ( something I hardly ever do) so that I could get the downstairs straightened before Joe got home with a whole new mess to deal with lol. Just as I was putting the last gift under the tree Joe walked in the door with the bags of Santa gifts and all the things we got the. Luckily we did not get a bunch of big stuff this year and all of it fit nicely in front of the fire place. In Alecs stocking he got Bob the builder Crayons, Big wide colored pencils, tons of MnM’s (his fav) and some Abc and 123 flashcards. Santa got him Home Depot tool box. From us he got a huge set of wooden blocks, a couple of books and something else that I have already forgotten. lol. He really was not all that excited about opening gifts anymore and just wanted to play and eat MnM’s. The rest of the day was VERY relaxing and we just lounged around and had our close friends Jen and Jon and their family come buy and Alec got more candy and some coloring books and puzzles. My parents stopped by for a short time as well to visit and see the kids playing with their new toys. I was very pleased with how the day went and loved watching the kid’s just play all day. Joe took off the day after Christmas and we took the kids to Toys are to spend their GC. Alec got a really cute backpack FILLED with crayons, markers, stampers, chalk and a writing pad… I bought a couple extra packs of the chunky big crayons to throw in there .perfect for going to restaurants!!) After shopping ( which was a CRAZY idea but we wanted to get out of the house.. lol ) we went out to dinner at Red Lobster which we had gotten a lot of GC for. Alec ate so much I thought he was going to get sick! That is it for our Christmas story this year. LOL

~*~*~*NEW YEAR~*~*~
Tonight we are going out to dinner without the kids with Jen and Jon. After dinner we will come home and spend the New Year with the kids. I would not want it any other way and can’t think of anything I would rather do on the New Year. Our Friends may stay over after dinner with their kids and visit but that is not set in stone.
On New years Day I am going to make a huge breakfast and we will just stay home all day and I will make everyone’s Favorite lasagna for dinner. As you can tell we don’t do too much for New years. LOL

~*~*~Other Happenings~*~*~
Well, I am kind of nervous about the Daycare situation now. Yesterday *Z*’s mom told me that she wants to put him in a preschool/daycare program a couple days a week! I was kind of hurt because I have been busting my butt to get a preschool program going on in my home and Jan 1st I was going to start doing it every single day with the kids ( I have been doing it the last month but have been building up on craft supplies, flashcards workbooks and other stuff). We would be really in a bind if she pulled him out right now and I don’t know what I would do. Not only that but I have formed such a bond with this child and he means a great deal to me and the kids. *sigh*
I guess *Z*’s grandma wants in a more structured environment and offered to pay for it. :o( *Z*’s mom said that he would still come to my home as well as preschool I guess we will just have to wait and see.
I have had a couple interviews with some perspective Day care clients but one mom was found someone right by her house and the other mom I have not heard from… so I am taking that as a sign as she found someone else. She was from a nice area and I think she thought my house was to small.:o( Her daughter was SO cute to.
Next week I am going to finish up on getting my re licensing to go through… they are SO SLOW over there I swear!!!!Then I am going to put another ad in the paper and my hope is to have 3 full time kids in my daycare in the next three months. When I meet with the parents though I am going to make it very known that I NEED a long term commitment from them though. My heart can’t take getting close to a kid and then having them leave after a couple of months. Plus it isn’t fair to Alec if he gets attached to other children and then they just leave.

Well, I guess I have rambled on enough and I thank you for reading Alecs diary. :o)
