November 10, 2002
The past week and a half has been a bit challenging for me and I was finally able to pinpoint why. The little boy I baby-sit for is now completely comfortable with us and is at ease with being himself. Well, turns out he is a little tornado and loves to make little messes everywhere he goes. I found that I was cleaning up one mess as he was tearing apart another room. I try to get him to help Alec and I clean up but he won’t have any part of this and it has been a bit difficult. I am trying so hard to teach Alec to clean up after himself and when he see’s this little boy throwing toys everywhere he thinks it is fun and wants to join in. They both get time-outs for throwing toys every where but it really does not seem to phase this little boy! Do not get me wrong, I love this little boy and we have already formed a strong bond I was just a bit frustrated this week. Tomorrow, I am going to start being way more strict about cleaning up messes and I think I am going to close off the other rooms and the boys can only play in one room at a time. When they clean up their mess they can move to a different room. Other then the messes I still LOVE staying home with the kids and just hanging out with them all day long. I am going to start doing flash cards and a little circle time every morning now that the daycare boy and my children have adjusted to one another. I think more structure will help the boys day go by smoother. Plus they will be learning a couple of thing at the same time.
I have decided to put more structure into my day as well and I have joined the Fly lady e-mail group. I have tries this program twice before and ended up quitting. This time I am bound and determined to have my house as well as my life organized and running as smoothly as possible with 3 kids. :o) I think that I can do it this time with the support of my Life coaching that I still continue to do weekly! Besides getting my life organized I need to get my body fit. I look like a Cow and I hate to look in the mirror or get ready for a night out. I hate to buy clothes for myself because I dread buying a size 12 *gasp* which for me is a big change from my 3/4 before kids. I just feel frumpy and blah. My face is round and chubby now and my hips…oh my gosh my hips are so wide. Then there is the body feature I most dread…. My stomach, that annoying little pouch of mommy-hood drives me insane. I could live with the pudgy face and wider hips if I had a nice flat, firm stomach. Just once I would like to go out somewhere and have somebody not believe I am the mother of three because my body looks so good. Not only do I want to loose weight for that reason but I want to be healthy as well and just have an overall better eating/exercise lifestyle for the entire family. Hopefully I stick to it. :o) Every time I look into the mirror should be enough encouragement. :O) I would love to drop about 25-30 pounds and be a size 5/6. That’s the goal.
Joe and I went out on Friday night for the first time in years and we had a blast. We went to club that played all 70’s and 80’s music and there where people our age there. We went with Jen and Jon (very close friends of ours) for Jens Birthday. We danced all night long and only stopped to use the restroom. It was nice to just enjoy my husband and let loose a little. On the way home and after we got home we could not stop talking about how much fun we had and how it had been like when we were first dating. Of course, we plan to do this again in the near future
I am so excited about Thanksgiving coming up and I can hardly wait for all the celebrations to begin. Getting the kids dressed up and going over to my mom’s house is always so much fun. I will go over and help my mom make the delicious dinner we have every year. We will have Turkey, Ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, carrots and then there is always something extra and different we throw in each year. :O) This year my parents want to make it a small more intiment (sp?) dinner so all the extended family will not be there. It will be different but I think we will really enjoy ourselves. After dinner my mom will let the kids decorate one of her Christmas trees and this will be the first year Alec will really be able to help out.
~*~*~Some tips for Buying Department Store clothes for Target prices! :O) ~*~*
I have been very lucky when it comes to children’s clothing because my mom works in the children’s department for Marshall Fields/Dayton Huston’s department store. My children are always dressed better then I am and in name brand clothes. HOWEVER, I get the clothes for a steal because my mom catches all the returns and mark downs. :o) We have clothes coming out of every crevice of this house yet we did not go broke doing it. There has been an occasion where I splurge on one particular outfit I love....
Here is a shopping hint to you guys......If you go to a major department store, ask the person working there to look in the back for you to see if there are any out of season returns you can take a look at. A lot of women buy a ton of clothes and then bring back the ones they never used with the tags still on them two seasons later. The store then sells them really cheap and usually the sales people snag them up first! :O) You have to ASK!!! If you can find a person in the department and kind of be-friend her and ask her to call you when she gets in a return you can really make out on buying name brand clothes.
