October 7,2002
There have been many new changes in our household which have kept me extremely busy and I am glad that I am now getting some time to write about Alec. :o)
Birthday Party
Alecs party was wonderful and it was a huge hit. In the morning I was nervous because there were clouds and storm warnings. I kept telling myself it had to be nice out and eventually the sun came out and it was beautiful. There was a light breeze and it was perfect weather for an outside birthday party. Joe and I took the kids to Catigney Park about an hour prior to the party so we could set up. We decorated the picnic tables and I set up a special present table. On this table I had Alecs Scrapbook and had it opened to the pages I had decorated for everyone to sign. It was a huge hit and everyone signed a cute little thing in his book. I decorated the other tables with Blues Clues table clothes and we had some Blue Clues paper doll things taped on the edges of the table. I set up all the snack and stuff that could sit out and we had a cooler full of pop and drink boxes. Almost everyone we invited showed up and had a nice time.( although I think Joes Brothers and sister were a bit bored by the party and just wanted to go home. :o( They are 14, 15 and 16 and I don’t think they are much into family gatherings :o( ) We had sandwiches, potato salad and some other munchies. It was a light lunch but no one seemed to mind that I did not go crazy on the food at this party. I usually go a little overboard on the food and so much goes to waste. The only problem we encountered during the party was our unwanted guests…. The Bees. Luckily nobody got stung. :o) Alec got a bunch of great gifts that he went nuts over. He got a blues clues music box with a real microphone, a blues clues house, a cool Crico (sp?) Workshop on wheels thing (great for keeping in the van!) , a computer game, a Toys r us gift card and a couple of very cute outfits from Target and Marshall Fields. After almost everyone from the party left we cleaned up our mess and went to walk through the gardens with the Sharps. ( I used to babysat their daughter for 2 years) We had a wonderful visit and I finally got to see Michael the new addition to the family. He was such a GREAT baby and we did not hear a peep out of him the entire time. By the time the kids had walked through the gardens and played on the tanks we ( all the adults) were exhausted! We got home and Alec played with all his new toys and watched a blues video. The end to a wonderful day~
Lifetime Child Center
Shortly after Alecs Birthday I started getting the urge to just stay home with the kids again. I had enough of hearing all the other women compete on whose life was worse, or who knew what about who. It was just tiring for me and I felt as though I had to babysti the grown women instead of enjoying all the kids. I was a supervisor and was doing an Assistant Managers work for Supervisor pay. It really wore on my and I disagreed on some of the things I was asked to do (such as watch the employees like hawks to see who had a name tag on or a shirt un-tucked….. again I just wanted to enjoy the kids not pay so much detail on silly rules that had nothing to do with the children) Basically the job was not fun any longer so I decided to leave. Don’t get me wrong, I made many great friends while I was there, it just was not what I wanted at this point in my life anymore. I do still plan to keep my membership and workout at the club. Alec will probably have a hard time adjusting to us not going any longer. I started when he was 3 months old . He has grown up there and has some special people in his life from the child center. They all watched my baby grow up! I gave my two week notice last week and then got people to cover my shifts for the next two weeks so my last day was last Thursday!
Two Year Pictures
I have to say my little man is quite the little Ham in front of the Camera. I decided to go with Sears this time for his pictures and had a very nice experience. They just remodeled the entire photo studio and made it much better and more accommodating to young children. The young women who did Alecs photo shoot was a little over the top and at first Alec did not know what to think. Then he just started laughing AT her and we got some great shots. I am going to send in his pictures so one of the poses should be on the main diary page. :O)
Two Year check up
Okay I am a bad bad mommy and have not gotten him in for his two year physical. I will call them this week though and get him in. :o)
Staying Home
I am officially a stay at home mom again and it feels GREAT! I missed it so much and so did my house. I neglected our house so bad when I was working and just did not have the time or energy to do anything but the dishes and laundry. I spent the weekend scrubbing window sills and cleaning out closets. My house is starting to look good again. I am in a MUCH better mood now and not so testy with the kids or Joe. It has only been a couple of days but WOW what a change. I started watching a little boy Zachary today; he will be 3 in a couple weeks. He is absolutely adorable and keeps Alec busy!
Well I think that is all for now.
Come drop me a line on my talk to you board
