*:) Birthday party plans * :)
The time has come to now start planning Alecs THIRD birthday party. Alec walks around the house saying “I’m fweeee I am Fweeeee(three)!” Sounds adorable and I just bite my lip to hold back the tears.:) Since Alec has his birthday (September 8th) in a perfect month for an outdoor party we are taking advantage of it once again this year. We plan to have a Big Summer/ Birthday bash. We are working on fixing up our backyard and I want it to look perfect for the big day. We need to get some Cedar woodchips to put along the back of the house. Then I have to go through all the outdoor toys and trash about half of them. I need to get sand for the sandbox, new sand toys, and paint our fence. Our patio needs a good scrub down as well and hopefully, I can get a new umbrella for our table. Ooh, I also saw a fire pit I loved at target the other day. Lol
I am stealing Katrina’s (Toddlers Today) menu from when she had Virginias 3rd birthday party .
Salami and Turkey focaccia sandwiches, veggies and dip, fruit salad, snack mix.
I am going to decorate the backyard in a Tropical/fish theme and want to hang fish everywhere and get the Tiki (sp) lights to line to fence in the backyard when it gets dark. I am going to get the Nemo soundtrack to play during the party. Alec just LOVES Nemo, so that is why I plan to use the Tropical fish theme. We are changing things around this year and I am going to plan the party on a Saturday for dinner time versus the Sunday lunch party we normally have. so
Some activities I will have for the kids are…
Pin the tail on the Fish
Hot potato
Guess how many Fishy crackers are in the Jar
And I may get a Pińata.
Any other ideas???????
I recently got a Stampin it up catalog and saw a cute idea for invitations that I may try and attempt. I have not made a final decision about that one yet.
*Joes time off work and Weekend Talk*
Joe had some personal days in his work bank he decided to use up this week. He was home early on Wednesday and then took Thursday and Friday off as well. I ended up not having daycare so we had a long weekend together. I love my husband dearly but my schedule was totally off and it proved to be a challenging couple of days.
On Thursday we got into a tiff about discipline (see my ttm board) and I ended up taking the kids to the pool by myself and wishing he was at work. LOL. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I got home, as Joe had cleaned out the garage and did some other minor projects on the house. I felt bad for all the mean thoughts I had running through my head earlier.
The trip to the pool was nice and relaxing. I met my friend Jen up there with her kids and we just sat in the 0-depth pool with the little ones and they had a blast playing with their toys. I need to remember to get more toys and a nice mesh bag next time I go to the store though. Alec did not seem too impressed with the toys I grabbed from the bathtub stash. LOL
On Friday Joe and I decided to make a day of going to the pool as a family. When we walked in, the place was packed and I quickly discovered why. It was Christmas in July! Santa was handing out tons of gifts for the kids and parents. The kids would swim a little and then go visit Santa for the new trinket he was giving out. Some of the things they got where, Beach balls, pens, key chains, t-shirts, candy, whistles, and eraser sets. Joe and I each got one of those little gadgets that counts how many steps you take during the day (forgot the name of it sorry). Joe was nervous as he watched the kids and was always panicking about where they were. It has become easy for me to keep track of the kids because I have had to do it all summer by myself. Plus, Jt is somewhat of a strong swimmer so I let him have a little more freedom to play with his friends. Autumn never strays far from Alec and I, so that is a plus. I am anticipating next summer with be a little more tough to do on my own.
After we had, had enough with swimming we ran my mom to the train station and then went to a new Grocery Store I had told Joe about. I knew he would love it because they have great produce and meats to pick from. We ended having a great steak dinner that night and Jt ate more steak then I did. LOL
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention that happened that morning. Jt has several of those little mini wooden souvenir bats that he loves to get in to and then swing them all around. I am constantly telling him to stop it and put them back. Well, I was upstairs in the shower and Joe was getting the kids breakfast. All the sudden I hear poor Autumn screaming and then Joe telling Jt to get in his room NOOOOOOOWWWW!!! Uh oh. I went to see the damage and poor Autumns face was all red and Joe told me Jt hit Autumn in the face with the bat! :( That red mark later turned into a very BIG nasty bruise. I was afraid her cheekbone was broken but it seems much better today (Monday). The bats are now up in the garage and hidden.
On Saturday Joe had his study group for school so I just hung out at my moms house for the afternoon and let the kids play. We had lunch there then headed home. It was a pretty low key day and we just lounged around. It felt GREAT!!!!!!!!! :) Joe worked a couple hours on painting the Garage door outside and I stayed inside where it was nice a cool ha ha.
Late afternoon /early evening our friends Rick and Ann called to see if we wanted to go to a Summer fest. I politely and quickly said no. I had spent all day relaxing and I didn’t want to spoil that by getting all stressed out, managing the three kids wanting to go on rides etc. Rick and Ann ended up coming over and we had Hamburgers and Hotdogs on the Grill and watched one of my all time favorite movie “For the Love of the game.” Gosh I LOVE that movie. :)
Sunday was another relaxing day. I made Mickey Mouse Cinnamon Apple pancakes and Turkey Bacon for Breakfast and then just straightened up the house a little. We went to Joes Moms house so the kids could play in their new pool and visit. After a long visit we headed home and had a light dinner. Not very exciting but that was fine with us.
*Autumn the hairdresser*
Last week my mom had Autumns hair pulled back in little braids and they were starting to get a little messy. I told her to start pulling them out while I changed Alecs diaper. All the sudden I got a strange feeling and then ran into the bathroom. I was to late.. Autumn had already gone into Joe’s clipper bag and pulled out the scissors and chopped a braid off right in the dead center of her head! Ack! I asked her why she did that and she said she did not want the braid to hurt when she took it out!? I could not be mad at her… she started to cry because she knew she shouldn’t of cut her hair. I just gave her a hug and we worked to cover it up with some cute butterfly clips. In all honesty, it looks terrible and she has hair sticking straight up no matter what I do. I don’t dare tell her that! She is beautiful no matter what :).
*Kindergarten*
I got a letter from the kid’s school telling me that Autumn was put into the morning Kindergarten class. I have mixed feelings about this because the school district is SO SCREWED UP!! (Main reason we want to move this year!) Autumn will be in the morning class with a teacher I am not all that crazy about, and there will be 32-34 kids in her class with NO aide! How in the world can you teach those poor kids ANYTHING in a couple hours!? There are just too many kids. :( *sigh* I can’t wait to move! Luckily, Autumn is an eager learner and can even read already. I just worry she is going to 1. Be bored. 2. Not reach what she is capable of. Any suggestions?? The afternoon class may have fewer children (but Not much of a difference).
*I want a Mooooch Mommy*
We are still working on the bedtime routine. This seems to be an ongoing battle with my kids with no end in sight. By morning we always end up stepping over the kids sleeping on our floor! Ugh! I have been playing with different bed time routines the past couple of weeks and I hope we have a winner amidst the several we have tried.
Something that Alec started the last couple of nights just cracks me up. After we read a story we give hugs and kisses (or as Alec calls them Moooches (smooch)). Well, I can’t get over the way Alec says Moooch so I always go back and give him another one. Lately he has been saying “Mommmeeee I need awother (another) Moooooccchhhhh Pwwwweeeasssee oooooh Pwwwwwwwweassse!” Could you resist that???? NO way! LOL
Oh Here is a Cute Joke,,,, that sends Jt into hysterics everytime he tells it!
Have you ever heard of a Honeydo (sp) Melon?
Honey do this… Honey do that
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
