Tanyab's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

June 18, 2003

Joe works for a very well known company that has had some major very public layoffs in the last year. He loves the company he works for and has worked his way up in the company in the last 4 years and was finally feeling great about his job. However, when we got back from vacation they had a meeting with all the supervisors and let them know they are outsourcing his department and everyone (100 plus employees) will be out of a job by the end of October. Of course Joe is very upset by the news and rightly so. He has worked so hard and grown to love his job so much in the past years. Even though it was not very unexpected it felt like a huge blow. The good news is they gave them a long notice so everyone can start looking for new jobs. At first I was not to keen on him trying to find another position in the company because of its recent instability with their employees. However, after talking with dh I decided to just sit back and let him do as he wants. Joe came to me with news this weekend that was a bit startling at first but I have come to grow excited about. There is a position open that would be a step higher in the company, that Joe is totally qualified for, in Arizona. It would be a HUGE step for us and we would be 100% on our own with no family there. However, we would be able to get a larger home in a nice area with great schools. I would not do in home daycare and would be able to come back home for visits often. Now, I am probably jumping the gun way to quickly here but I am really excited. So, if you can keep us in your thoughts and prayers I would appreciate it.

Thank you
Tanya
