Megan's Diary Entries

Hi All,

Well the visit to Santa wasn't as good as I had hoped, but it wasn't as bad as last year either so that's good. Jordan was very happy to see Santa ... from a distance. He and Mrs. Claus were at a shopping center that had two floors and a balcony to see down to the first floor and Jordan just loved standing there and looking down at Santa but she refused to get any closer. He tried talking to her and she would answer him but when he asked her to come down and see him she said no. Oh well, maybe next year I'll get that picture of her sitting on Santa's lap.

We have had a good week. I'm very proud that I'm not stressing out about trying to get everything done for the holidays. Yesterday the 13-year-old girl from down the road came to see if she wants to be like a mother's helper to me. I would stay in the house but she would help take care of the kids so I could get some things done. She is a very nice girl but Jordan some how realized that this girl was being paid to keep her amused and she turned into this little tyrant. I swear you would have thought she was part of a royal family. I'm in the other room baking and I hear her telling Ashley to sit down and play and put in a new tape (in the VCR). And it wasn't just what she was saying but her tone of voice, like she was speaking to a servant. Needless to say I did not let her continue doing that and I told Ashley not to let Jordan talk to her that way but I just can't believe her, she has never done that before. Usually she is a very polite little girl, she says please and thank you and when she is around other children she never bosses them around!!

Other than that the only other newsworthy thing to happen was that Jordan can do a somersault all by herself. She has been taking gymnastics since the end of September but it's really more of a playtime for the kids and moms. There is gymnastics equipment everywhere padded and adjusted for little ones but all the instructor does is show the kids how to use the stuff and then the can do what ever they want for the rest of the 45 minute class. It's not like they have to do certain positions or anything, and she is there to help any of them with the equipment. Well Jordan loves this class, she looks forward to it every week. She likes to play on everything but she never really tried to seriously do anything until this last Monday when she started doing somersaults on the mat. I was shocked, and very proud because no one else in the class can do one, and some of the kids are older.

Well that is about it. I need to get back to my Christmas cookies and try to get another batch finished before the girls get up from their nap. (That in itself is extraordinary news, they never nap at the same time, Jordan doesn't usually nap. I'm lucky today.) Merry Christmas everyone!!!
