Megan's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 1, 1999

Hi Everybody,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a nice time. Jordan went with my Grandma on Wednesday, and I missed her all night. I couldn't wait to see her on Thursday. We pull up the driveway at 2:00 p.m., and before we are out of the car, Jordan is in the doorway yelling, "Mommy, Daddy, Baby!" My heart is bursting with love that it seems my girl missed me, too, so I rush up the stairs and pick her up and give her a hug and kiss which she gives me back and then she is pushing at me and saying, "Down." I tell her that I missed her and asked if she missed me and she says "No," and runs off to play.

My mother told me once that daughters don't appreciate their mothers until they are in their 20s or have had a baby. I'm beginning to understand that. Jordan didn't even want to come home with us, so she stayed until my Grandma came home late Friday afternoon. It was a nice break though, we had forgotten what it was like to just have a little baby around.

Jazmine really seemed to enjoy all the attention she received, and my house stayed incredibly clean.

Anyway, on to my weekly problem. Jordan has decided that she doesn't need sleep any more. She stopped taking naps last week but at least she would go to bed by 8:00 p.m. and then sleep until 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. The last couple of days, she is throwing a fit at bed time, something she has never done, so by the time she gets to sleep it's almost 9:00 p.m., and she has been getting up at 4:00 a.m. I won't get up with her, so she stays in her room and plays until I get up with the baby at 8:00 a.m., but she still won't take a nap. I don't understand how she can do it. And I have no idea how to get her to sleep. We've been leaving her in her room hoping she'll eventually fall asleep but all she does is play even when I take the toys out. Then she just makes a game of taking all her clothes out of the drawers. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'd love to hear from you.

Until next week, enjoy the holiday season!!!
