Megan's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 3, 1999

Hi Everyone,

Well, it has been an eventful week for us. I returned to work this weekend from my maternity leave, and while I am glad to be back because I like my job, it was very tiring. The girls seem to be fine with my going back to work since they either stay home with my husband or, if he's working, their Grandma or Great Grandma watches them.

Before I started back to work, Jordan had started this new thing in the mornings: when she gets up, she takes off her pajamas and her diaper. That's not so bad, but some mornings she would then have to pee and would go on the floor. Once, she pooped before she took her diaper off and got poop everywhere!!! UGH!!!

Well, we figured that if she wanted to take off her diaper, we would put her potty chair in her room with her so if she had to go she would hopefully use that. Of course, that didn't work. She now totally ignores the potty, whereas before she would sit on it all the time and she actually went in it once.

My mother told me that I should try putting her sleepers on backwards. It looks funny, but we've been doing it for the last 4 days, and it has prevented her from taking off her pajamas. I was so happy that we had been able to outsmart her -- until yesterday morning.

After getting her dressed, I brought her downstairs and got her all set up sitting on the couch with a cup of juice watching Barney. I then went upstairs to get myself dressed and the baby up and dressed. I wasn't even up there 15 minutes, but when I came downstairs she had her pants and diaper off -- and had peed and pooped on the living room rug. And of course she is standing there smiling and says, "Mommy mad at me?"!!!

Today I have her dressed in overalls to make it harder for her to get out of her clothes, but I don't know what else to do -- with a 2-month-old and a two story house, I can't be with her every second -- and she is quick. I would gladly take any advice anyone can give me.

Until next week!!!

Megan and Jordan
