Hi everyone,
Ah, where to start!!! It has been another trying week here at Jordan's war zone! The police need to hire her as a search dog, that child can find things you never knew were there in a matter of minutes. This week it was baby diaper rash cream, I haven't seen this tube in months, don't know where she found it but it was smeared all over the baby, the T.V., the couch, the carpets. OH BOY!!! That crap is fun to clean up. Jordan also managed to pilfer the cell phone and hide it for two days with DH and myself thinking the other had it. At least she told us where it was when we asked because we would never have found it ourselves. Who else but a curious 2-year-old knows that the recliner has a little spot between the metal bars for the foot rest and the side of the chair that fits a cell phone perfectly? She tries my patience and she knows it!!! She turned to me this morning and said, "I didn't get into anything today." With a big smirk I might add. Hard not to laugh!!!
I have become a real bad mom, I have threatened the life of her beloved Po. I can't help it, we have tried everything under the sun to get her to clean up her toys which she has no problem emptying from the toy box but when it is time to clean up she can't because, "her back hurts, the toys are too heavy (too put in the box but not out, do they gain weight on the floor?), she has to watch T.V., go potty, get a drink, call Gramma, and my personal favorite, sit on the couch and watch mommy do it." We have tried making it a game, singing the damn Barney clean-up song, pleading, yelling, smacking her butt, hand over hand "help", taking toys away, time-outs, sent to bed, no T.V., no Popsicles. Nothing worked and I was sick of the battles until the other night after a long day (re: diaper cream) so I said very calmly, "If you don't pick up then you must not care about your toys and I'm going to throw them all away and the first to go is Po!!!". I have never seen that girl clean so fast, of course about every 5 minutes she would say, "Mommy, you don't throw Po in trash, I pick up, see!!!" I don't care any more. Put me in bad mommy hell, it works and I'm using it!!!
Oh, we went up to the lake on Friday with the kids. The baby loved the water but Jordan stayed true to form and wouldn't go past her knees or sit in the water. She was happy in the sand with her toys. My MIL wants to send her to swim lessons at the Y. I absolutely refuse, I will not have her hate water more than she does now. She won't go in any pool that isn't a wading one, even with DH or myself holding her. She isn't ready yet. I think I'm going to have to battle with MIL on it, she says Jordan needs them if we are going to go to the lake. Not, the kid wears a life jacket and won't go past her knees, with adults all over. I think she'll be fine. Anyone have any advice about the whole water/swimming thing? Any one else's kids like that? Jordan has never liked the water, even as a baby when we would hold her in pools or lakes she would cry and clutch onto us for dear life.
Well, have a good week!!! Megan and Jordan
