Hi All: Wonderful news!!!! Jordan is potty training!!! All on her own, she is doing a great job. Last Thursday (on my birthday, what a present) she was sitting on the couch and she came over to me and said, "I want to go poop in the potty." I was thrilled because she never says things like that, usually I'm asking her if she wants to try. So we go up to the bathroom, I didn't think she would actually go because she usually just sits there and then says she has gone when she hasn't so imagine my surprise when she sits there for a few minutes and then gets up and shows me that she did it, she actually pooped in the potty!!! I was heaping the praise on and asked her if she wanted to try a pair of the pretty undies we bought (months ago and she never wanted to wear them). Again she surprises me and says yes, we go and put her little Blue's Clues panties on and the rest is history!!! Since then she has worn underwear and used the potty. It has been almost a week. She is doing great!!! She is still wearing a diaper at bedtime and nap time even though she did want to try wearing underwear to bed but she had a few accidents so we are just going to concentrate on day time dryness. She has only had a few almost accidents during the days but she is able to stop herself and get to the potty in time to finish.
I feel so relieved. I didn't think Jordan would ever want to use the potty. She loved her diapers. It is kind of funny though because no matter what we have tried to do to help her along she just decided on her own that she was ready. My mom told me to not worry about it that when she wanted to potty train she would and mom was right (yes that does irk me a little).
It is funny, the first couple of days I was always asking every 20 minutes if she needed to go potty and she would get so mad at me, finally on Saturday she was all exasperated and she said to me, "Mommy, I don't have to go potty yet, stop saying that." Guess she told me!!!
Well, that was our exciting news for the week!!! Yippee!!! Four years ago I wouldn't have believed I would be sitting here thrilled and proud that my kid is using the potty or that I would devote a whole diary entry to this historical event. LOL!!! Have a good week!!!
