Marcie's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

Introduction

Hi everyone!

It has been a hectic week around here! And the funny thing is, I can't even remember why! All I know is that I am exhausted. Right now I am trying to focus on my oldest son's journey into kindergarten. His first day is a week from today! I know it is cliché, but kids grow up too fast. I am getting all weepy just thinking about it.

With my oldest starting school, I won't be taking him to his preschool anymore. And if he isn't going to pre-school, that means Justin won't be exposed to that environment anymore. It's too bad, really; he was just starting to get used to dropping Chris off every morning. In fact, yesterday when we were getting out of the car, I told Justin that I wasn't going to carry him inside. I distracted him from wanting to hold my hand by saying I had to carry my purse with both hands (no -- it isn't that big!), which gave him to freedom to walk to the door by himself. He immediately ran to the door with his brother, smiling all the way!

Once we were inside, Justin got very bold. The teacher had play-dough out on the table and my oldest son sat right down to play. Eventually, Justin went and got his own chair and joined in! He kept telling me to sit with him, to which I gave many excuses why I couldn't, like, "I'd like to, Justin, but mommy has to stand by the washing machine today." Then I stood behind him for a while. He got a little nervous, but quickly found me and kept playing. Maybe he will do well at the district pre-school, after all.

I've also noticed that he is just now starting to play "make-believe." He will pull this foam chair out of the play room and sit inside of it (it folds out) while holding his hands on an imaginary steering wheel. He "vrooms" and yells "TaWACKter" when we walk by, then asks, "Mommy sit taWACKter?" It's so cute. He's never really done this before -- which worried me because his older brother has an intense imagination (he has imaginary sisters -- two of which have had babies).

So, life is super busy; but all is well, and that's all I can ask for.

Until next time!
