Marcie's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

July 27, 1999

Hello!

Well, my husband's family was in town this week. They leave tomorrow morning, but we all said goodbye tonight. It was an interesting 4 days. Everyone commented on how much easier it is to understand Justin in person than on the phone, so that was a compliment of sorts. And they thought he was the most adorable kid they'd ever met. Unfortunately, some of their vacation activity choices weren't really tailored to small kids--so when he tagged along, he was run ragged; and when he stayed home, he missed out.

I worked most of the time, which gave my husband a chance to spend some time with his family. All in all, it was an OK visit. I am very glad that they now have a good idea of who Justin is.

Our family specialist came tonight and set up an obstacle course in our backyard. She was hoping it would introduce the concept of over, under, through, in and out. Justin wasn't too excited because he had been out with his grandparents all afternoon and was tired. But our specialist let us keep the giant tunnel for the week, and we will try again tomorrow.

We also found out that our specialist is quitting to be a stay-at-home mom. I think that is fabulous for her and her family, but it's a bummer for us. She did say that she won't be leaving until the end of August, so hopefully we can make it through the transition into the school district's pre-school for kids with special needs before she leaves. I like her so much; I'd hate to have to get Justin used to another person.

Justin has a speech therapy appointment later this week, so I will write another entry about that soon!
