In 10 short days, my pumpkin will be 2 1/2 years old. Where does the time fly?
The weather in Texas went from Summer to Winter to Fall. A little backwards. It was hot then cold (for texas anyways) and now it's beautiful...mid 60's. The leaves have started to turn and fall off. We don't get the color that the northern states do. I really miss that spectactular show.
*Holidays*
Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here? We are hosting it at our house this year, and I am looking forward to making the Turkey, etc... I like to cook for others and actually use my dining room. It just seems that this is the only time of year that this actually occurs. At least we manage to eat dinner together as a family almost every night...but just at our kitchen table. I think the togetherness is more important than a fancy setting.
Anyone else a Christmas Fanatic? I love the Christmas holiday. I start listening to christmas music in September. I put up the decorations the day before Thanksgiving. I usually have all my shopping done by the end of September, so I can sit back and relax and enjoy the wonders of the season. This year I haven't finished shopping yet...but I'm close.
*Potty Training*
Virginia's Gastro Doctor just gave us the go ahead to start potty training. Even though she is still on medicine every other day for her constipation, he believes this is a good time to start. So this weekend, we will make a trip to the store and I will let her pick out a potty chair. I have one for the toilet, but the Dr said to get one for the floor. He also said to use positive reinforcement, such as stickers or candy. I think I'll try the sticker route first and then candy. A few months ago I sent away for the Charmin potty training package. It has stickers and a handle Toilet paper ruler and a sheet to place the stickers on. So I'll start with that. My last day of work for the year is December 3rd....so December 4th we will begin potty training in full force. It would be so nice to get rid of diapers and the $20 weekly expense.
*Growing*
I measured Virginia's height yesterday....36 inches. 3 FEET tall!! Wow....She is just about doubled her height from Birth. I find that amazing. Her weight is 32 pounds...so she isn't tiny. Just right! ;-)
I must cut this short. My little pumpkin is begging to get on the computer to play on her Fisher Price Baby smartronics software. I just got this software and wish I had bought it earlier as she is really too advanced for it, but seems to still have fun. I highly recommend it...even for babies under one year. It's very interactive...Virginia loves the music and that she can use it all by herself.
