A Pumpkin for my Pumpkin
I took Virginia to a local "pumpkin patch" this last Monday to take a few snapshots. It was a cloudy day that was threatening rain, so we went before lunch. I dressed her in khaki pants and a new Gymboree cardigan sweater (black with bright multi-colored stripes). When we arrived Virginia was a little shy and maybe scared to have her picture taken (I just got my camera back after not having it for 2+ months). I found a mound of pumpkins toward the back and talked her into climbing up. She is so grown up. I would ask her to say cheese and look at mommy and she did! I took about 40 shots and got about 8 good ones. If I get home in time today I'll send 2 in to include with this entry. Then as promised I let her go in the big space bounce thing (don't know the term...but where you take your shoes off and bounce all over). I went in with her since she isn't so great at jumping yet and we had a blast. She loves flying into the air and then falling and bouncing and then saying "more mommy!". After we were both tired out we picked out a medium sized pumpkin and 2 tiny baby pumpkins and then headed for the Montesorri school.
School Days Ahead
Karl and I toured the school about 1 year ago and were told that there would be no openings for Virginia in the 2 year old class so we didn't even bother to drop off the application. So I finally got around to dropping it off for the 2003-2004 school year. If she is accepted she will go to school Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30am in the Primary class (ages 3, 4 and 5). They also have after school care, but it looks like I will be able to stay home next year so that won't be needed. We haven't heard back yet if the application was accepted. I know we have to go through a family interview and also a child only interview. If she isn't accepted, that will be okay. I will probably try and find a Mommy's day out program so that she can socialize 1 day per week and so I have a little break.
Work And Being Completely Ridiculous
Even though I will most likely be quitting my current job (which is hard to say because I like it, it's non-stressful, and they pay me very well)....I am considering getting a lower paying PT job at Gymboree, Gap, Williams-Sonoma, Crate-n-barrel, or Pottery barn.....and only working a few hours (less than 5) per week....most likely on a weekend. Why? It's not that we will need the income, but I know I will miss the social aspect of work and also it would be nice to get a discount. I'm leaning more towards Pottery barn or Williams-sonoma because I want to get Virginia an adorable Dollhouse bookcase from Pottery Barn kids.....but it is way to expensive. So if I have the discount, that brings the price down considerably. Karl thinks I'm nuts. I think it would be fun. I'm trying to convince another SAHM girlfriend to do the same (but at another store) so that we can have "double" discounts. Anyway, this is just a far fetched plan that may never come to fruition. But this is how my life is....I think up "plans" all the time and then realize how completely ridiculous they are!
A Quick Trip
Virginia and I are headed up to Milwaukee for a quick trip this weekend. Only my mom knows I'm coming. I feel bad for not telling any friends, but it's for only 2 days and that goes by so quick. So I've decided not to try and "fit" everyone into a tiny schedule and just hang out with my mom. We will probably get a little Christmas shopping done so I don't have to ship everything up there.
She What?
Even though I thought this was going to be a short stage....Virginia is still a fanatical toothbrusher! I can't believe it. Every time we go into the bathroom she has to brush her teeth and wash her hands. And it isn't a short process. First she uses an adult toothbrush with a dab of real toothpaste (she can spit) and then the small toddler tooth brush with training toothpaste and then the colgate spin brush. I need to remember to put a book in the bathroom to keep me busy! She is showing a little more interest in potty training.....but we don't seem to make it to the toilet in time. So after this weekend, I'm going to buy a training toilet that we can bring out into the living room and keep in the guest bath (which is right by the living room). I let her try on the underwear I bought her and she absolutely loved it and didn't want to take it off or put a diaper on. So I think that is a positive sign. She has felt what it is like to be comfortable. I can't imagine walking around with a diaper on...I hate wearing a thin liner!
TTC Front
Well after my MC on Sept 15th, my OB said to wait out one cycle before TTC again. She also said it may take 6 to 8 weeks before AF shows up. I was very bummed about this because my cycles are very long (38 days...which is 5.5 weeks)). Luckily AF showed up 3 days early, so now we are officially TTC again. I bought 20 ovulation testing sticks on ebay so I can use that on top of BBT this month. I'm really trying to keep positive thoughts and TRYING to remain relaxed. But in the back of my mind is infertility and having another MC. Let's hope not!
I just found out one of my close friends at work is pg! I'm so happy for her and also jealous. I'm trying not to be though. And I have another girlfriend who is having a scheduled C-section tomorrow. I'm praying everything goes okay for her. She has a little boy who will be 2 in December. Boy is she going to have her hands full.
A New Bathroom For Momma!
We just got our tax bill and it is lower than we expected so I get to start remodelling the masterbath. I've wanted to remodel it since we moved in in 1999. So before the sale disappears at Home Depot Expo center, I'm going to go over tomorrow and buy the ceramic tile (20% off!). We probably won't start until after Christmas is over and I can be home to oversee the work. We plan to have the carpet yanked out and tile put in (who wants carpet in a bathroom! gross!!!), a new tub (the one we have is super small in a larger space...I don't want jets...just a bigger plain tub since we have a hot tub in the back yard), a new sink counter (the current one is old, ugly, and cracking), and finally a new shower (think 70's flower tile! ack!). Probably new cabinet hardware to finish off the look. I'm not a fancy decorator...but our bathroom really needs help. I just want something neutral and pretty!
Trick-Or-Treat
I can't wait to take Virginia Trick-or-Treating. I've been teaching her to say Trick or Treat! And she is absolutely adorable when she says it (no I'm not biased!). We are going to take her around our street (maybe 6 to 8 houses) and then her Daycare is having an Open house Trick-or-Treat event...so I thought that would be fun to take her too. She hasn't been asking about her Elmo costume. She is still wild about Elmo and his Wild Wild west video. I took her shoe shopping last Friday and all she wanted was Cowboy boots. Never the less I did not buy her cowboy boots....but a pair of black mary janes and a pair of brown shoes with a buckle. And I know she is still wild about him because during Church last week she stood up during the sermon and starting shouting "wild wild west, wild wild west, ELMO". I just laughed, what else could I do? However after the service the pastor came over to Karl and pointed out that a nursery was available. Guess he wasn't too impressed by Elmo. He obviously just hasn't seen how good that video is.
Till Next time....
Love,
Katrina and Virginia
