Well I thought I was going to have wonderful news to share with all of you in a few months, but as of yesterday I no longer do. I took a hpt test last Monday and it was positive. However, yesterday I began to bleed. So I went to the Emergency room and my worst fear was confirmed. I was in the middle of a miscarriage. Since then I've read a lot about miscarriages, and it seems they occur quite often. Even though I think it totally stinks, I'm glad it happened now and not a month from now. I'm one of many women that when I find out I'm pregnant I'm thinking 9 months down the road. Not about all the little cells growing inside. The due date would have been May 23, 2003.....Virginia's 3rd birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary. I guess it wasn't meant to be. So now I'm supposed to wait until my next cycle starts and then we can continue to try. Big sigh.
Virginia on the other hand has no idea what is going on. I'm so thankful for this. This beautiful child is a constant reminder of how lucky I am to have her in my life.
Speaking of beauty.....I took Virginia to the Picture People this last Friday to enter their yearly contest. I'm waiting to hear if she won the weekly prize like last year! She took two totally adorable pictures and if I can get them scanned in tomorrow I'll submit them for this entry. I know I'm totally biased, but she looks like a winner to me!
Virginia has learned the difference between quiet and loud and now she is beginning to understand when we use which voice. Although she still yells at the most inappropriate times....2 year olds will be 2 year olds. She has also conquered up and down. She loves pointing them out and saying them. Her pronunciation on some of her words is still not so good...like tickle sounds like tuckles. Sit still sounds like a 4 letter swear word. Sesame Steet sounds like See See. Blueberry is boobie (this always gets laugh). Hide is IDE (she loves to play hide and seek with Virginia under a blanket). She says Eat when her mouth is full of food (how lady like). She refers to people with cowboys hats as E-I-E-I-O (like in the song old macdonald).
She is now Miss Composer. She has a Keyboard and now she props a book up and them opens another book like it is sheet music and begins to play and sing. The words are usually "Baby, Baby, Mommy, Baby, Daddy, Baby, Baby, Baby". I've caught that on tape. It's really so adorable. I'm trying to teach her the opening line to the Amy Grant song Baby Baby (the tune of it anyway)....so far no luck. She catches on to nursery tunes very quickly though. Really amazes me how many songs she knows.
Since we lost our daycare provider a month ago, Virginia has been attending Kindercare (state and nationally certified). And while I think their 2 year old curriculum is really good, their food really needs a tune up. Hot dogs are served weekly (big no no!). Fruit loops for breakfast (No!!). When Karl picked her up last Wednesday (she attends on tue and wed) she had a huge cup of cheerios (ok), raisins (ok), pretzels (ok), fruit loops (no), and marshmellows (definitely NO). Plus this was at 5pm so she wanted nothing to do with dinner...which happend to be a night we picked to eat out with friends, so dinner our dinner was not fun. One ate while the other kept her happy. She ended up eating dinner at 8:30pm...which is her bedtime. So when I drop her off tomorrow I'm going to bring this up. If I have to bring snacks for her that's okay, but I need to know that. I'm not a big fan of babies and toddlers getting tons of sugar or processed foods. Virginia is such a good eater and I think part of that is based on the large variety we feed her and also the fact that we limit her junk intake.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Love,
Katrina and Virginia
