Well, we're safely back from Virginia! Sam and I flew up for a week to visit my family. Sam was a great traveler; he hardly fussed at all on the plane, although I had to sing "B-I-N-G-O" about 1,000 times!
Traveling alone with a 19 month old is challenging, though. I had a lot of trouble installing Sam's car seat in the plane because airplane seat belts are different from car seat belts. I finally realized that the buckle would have to be on Sam's seat and he'd have to sit on it. Luckily he isn't a physically sensitive guy and it didn't seem to bother him.
Sam enjoyed visiting his grandma and grandpa and aunt and uncle. He did miss Mike though, especially when he was tired. There was one incident when we were visiting my grandparents. We went over to meet some twins who are a few months older than Sam. The twins had a yellow dump truck which Sam wanted to play with. The boy twin snatched it away from Sam which really upset Sam. He's talked about that dump truck every day since the event happened.
Today we went to the baby/toddler program at the library. Sam now knows the songs and story and is comfortable around the other kids. In fact he stood at the front of the group during the singing time. The story they recite each week is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
Sam's language skills expand daily. Over the last two weeks his use of two-word sentences has increased dramatically and he's even said an occasional three or four word sentence, although I can tell it takes a lot of his concentration to do so.
Until next time,
Kimberly
