My little one is 18 months old today! He is becoming more and more childlike and less and less babyish, although he's still really a baby in many ways. Because of his ever-expanding vocabulary and two-word utterances I can now have real conversations with him. I can talk about things that we did that day or the day before and he responds appropriately. He even tries to jump into conversations I have with Mike! He is really quite the joker. He likes me to ask teasing questions like "Is the dog my baby?" which he answers with a big smile and a drawn out "no-o-o!"
We just got back from a vacation to a cabin in the mountains. We all had a great time. Sam would ask every morning to take a walk down the road. He would stop to pick up gravel or sand, or to examine an acorn or a daddy long legs. Each night we'd wait for the full moon to rise and I'd carry Sam out to see it "peek" through the trees. We showed Sam toads and snakes. Yesterday we were driving back to the cabin when we decided to stop to go on a short hike. Sam was asleep so I carried him along in a sling. He woke up as we came to the bottom of a beautiful waterfall. The first thing he said was "oooooo!" What a wonderful way to wake up.
Until next week,
Kimberly
