April 4, 2000
April 4, 2000Sam's vocabulary has been growing lately. One of his favorite words to say is "cup." He also is saying "door" and "keys" too. I love when he tries to say "keys" -- it comes out as "kz."
He has been going through an animal phase. He likes to look at books about animals and name them or try to say their sound. Today at Target he showed me the cat pictures on a box of kitty litter, a puzzle, and a coloring book.
Trips to public places have become challenging. The three of us went out to eat Friday night -- dining out with a toddler is not a relaxing experience. We chose a restaurant with sidewalk seating and we took turns walking down the sidewalk with Sam. He is becoming less and less content to sit and ride -- he wants to move. Today at the grocery store he complained and complained because I wouldn't let him walk around the store. When he realized he wasn't going to get his way he calmed down and a few minutes later he was laughing. I've found the best thing to do is let him complain to me. It's like he's saying, "Okay, so I have to do as you wish, but I don't have to like it!"
