March 20, 2000
March 20, 2000Sam really seems to be going through a language/cognitive developmental spurt this week. His favorite toys this week are his shape sorters; he works on them a lot. When he gets a shape in, he claps his hands. He even claps his hands for me when I'm picking up his toys. It's nice to be applauded.
The word of the week is "no." He used to say, "na, na, na" and shake his head but this week he says a definite "NO." He tries out "no" on everything; at mealtime, at diaper change time, while he's playing. He knows it's a powerful word and he's trying to figure out how to use it.
When we go out, Sam wants to walk. It makes me nervous, because in crowded places and stores he can easily get lost or hurt. I take him to the bicycle path behind our house and let him walk around. He has a great time, picking up sugar maple pods and small sticks. We see lots of people walking dogs -- Sam is a dog and cat fanatic. He'll fearlessly approach any dog, thinking they are all as gentle and friendly as our border collie, Gordon.
That's all for this week,
Kimberly
