Kim's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 29, 1999

Hi everyone! I didn't get a chance to write last week, so here's hoping you all had a good Christmas or holiday. In fact, by the time you read this entry, New Year's will be over and we'll be into the swing of 2000! I hope everyone had a safe and memorable New Year's.

Our holidays were really nice. Since Max is only 13 months old, he didn't fully understand the whole presents thing, but he did get the hang of ripping the paper and then sitting in the boxes that his toys came in. He really enjoyed playing with his cousins and eating lots of holiday treats.

For New Year's, we're going up to a resort in Door County, WI with a group of friends. I'm sure we'll have a good time and since they have an indoor pool, I'm really looking forward to getting Max back into the water. He had taken "swimming lessons" when he was 4 months old and did lots of "swimming" this summer. But, since the camping season ended, he hasn't been in the water except for baths. I want to keep him accustomed to the water, so I'm sure we'll do some swimming this weekend.

Everything else is finally starting to slow down. In the month of December we had six different holiday parties to go to! After this weekend I'm hoping we can settle down a bit and hibernate for the winter. Most likely that won't happen though, because on Sunday we bought a new snowmobile. We'll have to cram some snowmobiling weekends into the season yet, I'm sure.

Max is continuing to do new things everyday. I'm amazed at how much he mimics us and picks up on things we do. He is giving us more and more kisses everyday. I love it when he leans into me with his little mouth open waiting for the kissing noise we make.

He's also showing an interest in reading books now. He would never sit still when I would try to read to him. Lately, though, he has been bringing me books and then backing up into my lap. We still can't get all the way through the book sometimes without him taking off to get another toy, but it's progress. Max's girlfriend Ana, loves books and is constantly bringing them to her mommy to read. I was getting worried that Max might not be a good reader. Another worry put to rest.

Well, I sure hope that someone out there is reading this journal and that some of my Babies Today readers followed me over here to Toddlers Today.

Until next week... Kim
