Big news in the DuBois household this week...big news...I'm talking really big news ... we went potty on the Potty Chair!!!
I still can't believe Max did it, but he did! To almost anyone else this will be a long, boring sorta gross story, but you other Toddler Moms will appreciate the magnitude of this event.
On Tuesday evening Max was walking around in just a diaper. He walked over to his potty chair, lifted the lid and stood in front of it with his pelvis jutting out. I asked if he wanted to use his potty chair and he said "uh huh." Half a second later I had that diaper off and Ross and I were hunkered down next to him encouraging him to go pee-pee in his chair.
After a few more seconds I realized that he was grunting and pushing (oh oh) so I told him that if he had to go poo he needed to sit down on his chair. So he did. Seconds later he was peeing in his chair. Well, it was more like a little fountain stream shooting outside the chair and onto the floor, but I quickly scooched him backwards and then he finished peeing into the chair! How cool is that?!
Ross and I started cheering and did the "potty dance" and got so excited that Max got up from his chair and danced naked for awhile. When we went for our walk that night we had to stop over at our neighbors' house to tell them the big news. I know it was probably a fluke since he's only 21 months old and that's a bit early, but I'm going to revel in it for awhile. Now we're encouraging and asking him if he wants to use his potty all the time. He'll sit on it, but won't do anything which is a start.
The move into our new house went fairly well, but poor Ross did the majority of the work. One of the hazards of moving with a pregnant wife, I guess. I think we'll be pretty happy there once we get all settled in and get the rooms repainted, etc. Besides, it is still in my same neighborhood so I will still be able to see my friends.
Until next week... Kim
