Kim's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |

Oh what a beautiful morning. Oh what a beautiful day....It is GORGEOUS here in Wisconsin right now! The sun is out, but it's not too hot and the wind is blowing hard enough to cool off your house but not so hard as to be cold. Makes me excited to get out of bed in the morning -- and that's no small feat!
Max, Ross and I went swimming at our health club on Tuesday evening. At first Max didn't want to be put down and was freaked out about walking in the water. I pointed out a whale slide that he could go on and that's all it took. He must have gone down that slide 30 times and was still begging for more! He almost went under the water on one trip down and even that didn't bother him. All three of us had a great time and I'm sure we'll be going back for more all summer. Especially since being in the water is soothing to an ever-growing, stretching pregnant body!
Last Friday Max started to get sick again. He was having a hard time breathing and would cough to the point that he was almost throwing up. On Saturday morning we took him into the Urgent Care Center and they did chest X-rays and gave him a nebulizer treatment. We walked out of there with three prescriptions and instructions to follow up with our pediatrician about testing Max for asthma again.
I am so hoping that he doesn't have asthma, but it wouldn't surprise me since Ross has always had it pretty bad. It's a terrible thing to see your child struggling to take a deep breath and look in their eyes and see the panic mounting. I imagine the feeling of suffocating has got to be a horribly frightening thing. Keep your fingers crossed that this was just an infection and nothing more.
Is anyone out there having troubles with whining and/or hitting? It seems like as soon as I pick him up from the sitter's house he gets whiney. When we get home if he gets upset about something he'll try to hit the dogs or Ross and me. What is that all about?
I don't know how to teach him not to hit or how to teach him that whining won't get him what he wants. Am I being unrealistic in thinking that I can teach him these things at 19 months? Any advice or support you can lend me would be great...I need to know that my kid isn't the only one who is beginning to show a temper.
Until next week... Kim
