Kim's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 10, 2000

Hi everyone! I hope everything is going as well for all of you as it is for us!

Last week was Ross' first week on days and it was AWESOME! I loved having him home with me throughout the night. It is a totally new experience to have someone there to help with dinner or give Max a bath or read him books before bedtime.

Every night we load Max into his wagon, hitch up the two dogs and go for a walk. I finally get to be one of those people I've watched for three years, walking through the neighborhood with their whole families in tow!

During our walks, Ross and I have started to rediscover each other (if that doesn't sound too corny). I've learned things about him that either I had forgotten or didn't ever know. We've even discovered that we both have vivid memories of our first Big Macs and even had the same McDonald's backpack when we were growing up!

In even bigger news, Max had his tubes put in and circumcision re-done last Friday. Everything went really well, and Max handled it better than I did. When the nurse took him out of my arms and carried him off to surgery, I cried like a child. I knew it wasn't going to be a big deal and he was in great hands, so I'm not sure why I cried so hard. I think it was simply because he wasn't in my care and he was being "operated" on.

Max's poor little "Jimmy" (Ross' word, not mine) is bruised, swollen and stitched up, but he doesn't seem to mind too much. If your husbands are anything like mine, you can imagine how much Ross cringes and squirms when he sees the jimmy in that shape. Before you ask, I don't know why Ross calls it a jimmy. It's not like the penis is named Jimmy, because Ross says "the jimmy" (like a noun) -- all of it is beyond me. I'm just glad women don't feel like we need to name our parts.

Things with our new house are humming right along. In fact, I'm looking for suggestions on a bedroom theme for Max's new room. I was thinking of a nautical look because I found a great boat bed and interesting sailboats knick knacks, but Ross isn't fond of that theme (of course he can't come up with any other ideas). Any suggestions?

Until next week... Kim
