Kim's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

January 13, 2000

Hi everyone ... hope all is well. Things around my house have been fine this last week. I went with my mom to her first chemo treatment on Thursday. I can't explain how sad it is to see a waiting room filled with sick, weak people desperately trying to save their own lives. My mom handled the chemo well but is now starting to feel the side effects. Her hair is starting to fall out, and she feels weak at the end of some days. Overall, though, she is holding up well, thankfully.

I'm interested in starting sign language with Max, but I'm not sure where to begin. Can anyone recommend a good website or book that I could use? Every time I ask him if he wants to take a bath, I use the sign for "bath", but that's all I know. I know he's not going to pick up on it right away and he may be a bit young, but I would like to start anyway.

Ross and I were thinking that we would start trying for a second baby next month, but I'm thinking we might hold off for another six months. I would like to enjoy this fantastic stage with Max a little more. I'm not ready for the exhaustion and vomiting that accompanied the first trimester. Especially since Ross is still on second shift and wouldn't be home at night to help me with Max. We're still trying to get him moved to days, and if that happens, then we'll plan for the second. Two and a half years apart is still a good age gap, right?

I just wanted to write and say THANKS to those readers who sent messages in my Talk To Me board. Since I would check the board and there were no new messages there, I thought no one was reading or following along. As it turns out my board was broken and now that it's fixed, I've just seen all the new messages. I'll get back to everyone as soon as possible.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement and for following the diary. I've got the biggest grin on my face right now after reading all those messages!

Until next time ... Kim
