"ANXIETY AND BAD HABIT"
Mabuhay. *
After that vacation in Merak, we settled into a relatively quiet week that followed. This is due to the fact that we have to make the decision when to return to Manila and what are the things that we have to bring back again and such concerns. I dont necessarily welcome the idea of traveling alone with Orion as it will be a bit uncomfortable having a bulging belly and a 36-lbs. toddler on my lap for a t least a 5-hour flight. (There is no direct flight from Jakarta to Manila, so there is a 1.5 hours flight to Singapore and then another 3.5 hours flight to Manila, not to mention at least a 2 hours stopover). Well, I am hopeful that Aaron will be able to get out of work for a few days to send us.
During the past week, I noticed that Orion was having difficulty with his bowel movement. First, I thought it was the usual constipation because he has frequent bouts with it. But this time it really worried me because he had gone into 4 days with very little results. Whats worse is that when I wash him afterwards, he lets off a cry of pain saying "Mama, sakit, sakit" (Mama, its painful) and will turn his bum away from me. True enough the "hole" and its surrounding area are red and sore. I have tried to put some Vandol cream to ease the soreness a bit.
We have added more vegetables and fruits to his diet. His milk is diluted and given less frequently. We have encouraged him to take more water instead. In a way, this has helped soften the stool but unfortunately with the painful experience above, he has now acquired a bad habit of "holding his stool." Instead of opening his legs to ease the passage, he clams up and tries to prevent it from coming out. We have introduced him to the potty while we read a book, in the hope that this will induce bowel movement but so far, we are still in a very frustrating situation.
His disposition throughout the day remains active and normal but when he feels the "poop" coming he freezes, sweats like crazy and wont let anybody near him. Up to this time, his condition has not improved much and in fact I am scheduled to take him to the doctor tomorrow.
See you next week.
