MONSTERS

Mabuhay!*

Well, I just had my rush of adrenaline at the moment because "Am on the net.......Waaaaaaaaaaa!!!" Just had to get that out of my system, so I can concentrate on the rest of this story. My unbelieving husband who was dragging himself to bed, well, finally became a believer! He even suggested a topic, which, anyway, I had already in mind!

Orion will definitely get a kick at seeing his photo tomorrow. What he doesn't realize at the moment is that he is the star of this diary ala "Truman Show". Wonder how he'll react when he's in the "raging hormones stage" and his girlfriend finds out about this??! We'll that's long years ahead for now, so we'll leave the answer open to the wind, so to speak...

Finally, I have come to terms that Orion has settled in with Yani (his nanny) and that he'll have prolonged periods of "not missing me" within the day. When I miss him, I am now the one to approach him and ask for a hug and kiss, otherwise I just let them play. Then, there was this lunch invitation and I decided not to bring Orion along. He must have sensed that I was going out because, I was wearing my glasses and I had my sling bag, so he kept interrupting me and saying "Mama play. Mama, choo, choo train. Mama, run." Finally, my taxi arrived so I rushed out the door, he ran after me and when Yani stopped him, rolled on the floor and hollered!!!! Just imagine how guilty I felt. You think I enjoyed the lunch??? What lunch duh????

Everyday, we notice that our toddler always has something new to say or do. Since we have singing sessions in his weekly playgroup, he seemed to have learned the lyrics of the songs quite easily and actually now likes to sing and pretend to play the guitar, violin or piano. He also repeats almost everything we say to him especially when he is being scolded. Which ends us laughing of course, it's difficult to keep that straight face!

Tonight he again showed a new "talent" which his Papa and him have been playing for a few days now. Every time, his Papa "farts" or "burps" he asks Orion to pull his finger and the sound comes out. Papa termed it "monsters" (so that Orion will not learn to fear them as he grows older). It stuck and every time, Orion farts now, he will say "Monster" too. Tonight after his shower, as I was drying him, he rolled away from me and buried his face in the pillows (He does that to give me a hard time putting on his pajamas). Then I heard a "monster" and then again another one, and then a little one... He still kept his face buried, so I started to laugh. Then again, I heard another one and I just kept laughing. So I called Aaron for him to see what his son was doing. Upon seeing him Orion raised his butt upward and continued to make more "monsters" as in we can see him tensing his stomach and butt muscles, while we both were laughing hysterically. Finally, Aaron said "That's enough" and I seconded, his face was flushed but there was this look of satisfaction on his face. He said "Aaron, plenty of monsters!" (Well, Orion calls his Papa, "Aaron" which will drive my Asian folks crazy when they find out. But Aaron's not bothered "It's a Western thing". We didn't train him that way, he just dropped the Papa when we got to Indonesia).

So as we went to bed, I asked Aaron how did Orion do that "monster" trick? He said "It's genetic". Yeah right, his side though, haha. Have a good week !

From Indonesia,
