Well, after that Working Mom Rant! I'm back to my normal (stressed) self :)
A big welcome to the latest addition to our family Anthony Michael 9lbs 15 ounces born to my sister Colleen and BIL Andy on Novemeber 8th!
We went to the Santa Clause parade this weekend here in Ottawa, and Brennen and McKinley LOVED the crowds, bands and floats..McKinley is sooo excited about Christmas and although the B doesn't know what it is, he is now pointing to the tv when toys come on just like McKinley does. Talk about brainwashing lol!
My little Picasso has written on every wall on our house these past few weeks, no matter how much we scold or take his crayons away he continues to colour on the walls , doors , door jam, toys etc... McKinley never did this so we are struggling with his artistic challenges!.. Now when I say.. "oh B thats not right we don't colour on the walls" he points out all his previous colouring misdeeds... one at a time and when I say.. "did you do that B" he shakes his head no. The funny thing is when you scold him and take the crayon away he usually walks away with a little pout on to the next toy or game.. with little reaction. We don't spank but boy does it try our patience as we are getting the place painted soon (post renovations) and I shudder to think what will happen to our walls then.
I love how interactive Brennen has become he can show us the parts of his body quite well and when you say "where's your boobies" he goes over and points to mine.. tooo cute..although I really am finding at almost 18 months the whole bfing think getting a bit "old" but everytime I think thats it.. he climbs up and wants to nurse and I just cave in. I went out to a retirement party for a co-worker last week and didn't get home til 10pm well past his bedtime and he cried himself to sleep and was still restless (sobbing in his sleep) as he didn't nurse himself to sleep as is the norm. As soon as I got into bed to cuddle him, he immediatly wanted to nurse.. I guess its still very important to him so we'll keep going until he's ready to stop.
If anyone had told me two years ago, I'd still be nursing at 18 months I'd be like "NO WAY, NOT ME" but here I am.. an extended breastfeeder that doesn't know how I got here.
I love to watch how McKinley and Brennen sit on the couch together and watch cartoons some mornings its so cute.. I find they are playing so well together and its wonderful to see the sibling bond being built. They even hold hands in the car when we go for drives...
Well, better run I am typing this at work and its crazy here, more layoffs so the atmosphere is not positive.. lots of doom and gloom but I find thinking of the kids has made me happy and warm inside...
Being a mom is just the best job in the world eh!
Cheers,
