Kellie's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

October 1, 2004

John went back to work today, after a 2.5 year paternity leave (in Canada, federal government workers are allowed up to 5 years off as parental leave (no pay of course) but they are guaranteed the same job upon returning. Our family took advantage of this great program and it was such a positive time in all of our lives. Although, I don't believe a child suffers if their mother OR father works outside the home at all (quality daycare is what EVERY woman and voter in Canada and the US should be asking for)!! but it just lessened the stress in our house and enabled John to have some time with the kids, which most men aren't able to. ....I never worried about the kids and sick days, needing time off for appointments, vacations were easy to schedule. It was great!.

Brennen started daycare a week and a half ago... with much tears I might add (McKinley never cried when we took her to daycare) but he seems to be settling in.

I'll be posting more this weekend but wanted to record John's big day!

Back to work!!! after a great 2.5 years off..heres to a great dad who I am amazed and proud of for taking on the challenge.

cheers,
