Kellie's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

July 30, 2002

Well, its been a bit since I posted, probably due to lack of time here at work and at home...

Brennen Patrick Coulson is stressing me out.. he's such a whirl wind that I find just watching him for two minutes makes me tired and wondering what the heaven I will do when this lad turns 2 (or 3 or 4)...

His latest antics are as follows: Screeching at the top of his lungs when he doesn't get what he wants, turning on and off the tv while his big sister is watching it, rolling or pushing chairs, baskets, toys anything not nailed down across the house and pushing it down our steep and long basement stairs, pinching, pulling hair, hitting, Chasing and hitting the dog (Dog you say? I'll get to that one later, crayoning on everything, drinking water from the tub or tap, pushing McKinley out of the way to get the crackers or juice I am giving her and the list goes on!

Brennen seems to enjoy making the most noise and mess he can. He continues to crayon on the walls and the furniture with constant screaming and fit throwing when the crayon is removed from his grasp.

Last nite John and I were singing to him and watching him dance. He does this wiggle with his bum and shakes his head back and forth and then ... get this.. he bows as if to say thank you very much when we clap, the more we clap the more he bows.. obviously he has seen McKinley bow to us (she is always putting on dances or plays for use with "B" an avid audience member)..

He is really quite the little fart...:)

He is still nursing like a mad man and continues to wake at night 3 or 4 times to nurse, I tried weaning him a few nights ago with little success, lots of tears and my giving in to his crying and screaming at about 11:00.. (he started wanting to be nursed at 9:00 so after 2 hours I gave up)

Don't get me wrong I love the little bub tons and he has John and I screaming with laughter most days but he is difficult, he doesn't want a hug or a kiss just wants to run around yelling and playing. John has taken to throwing things and having B "fetch" them, seriously Brennen loves it and will play the fetching game for at least 20 minutes (which is an eternity for him)..

The Dog: well, I am watching my managers beagle Rupert for the next few weeks, I in my innocence thought this family needed one more member (it was a bit of a trial to see if we could handle a dog) and I now know we can't. McKinley is ready, Brennen is not, he screams when the dog goes near me, hits and pulls his tail when the dog sits on my lap in the house and has a fit if it sits on my lap in the car. He is constantly chasing the dog and trying to ride the poor thing.. you know that saying never leave a baby with a dog alone, you never know what the dog will do, well in our house its reversed you never know what the baby will do.

Rupert sees Brennen coming he either hides, throws up or runs to McKinley. Its so sad this poor dog is just hoping its normal family comes home soon.

Whats on the Coulson Calendar this week.

Well we spent last week swimming, walking the dog and enjoying our time and this weekend is the long weekend in Canada so we are going to a picnic at a Provincial Park an hour or so away. I am also taking McKinley to the "Country Bear" movie and due to an insane work schedule (working 20 hours a day for three days and counting) I am hoping to take Friday and Tuesday off.

So, I guess I am a little down regarding exactly how to deal with the "B's" temperment, he feels everything so deeply and intensely its almost scary, and his stubborness well lets be honest how MANY times can a person say "no" to you before you choose to listen :)

Well, they say the "B" man has my temper and personality so maybe I am the one person he'll listen to (not happening yet, if anything John and I have found he's worse with me) but if he wasn't so darn cute I'd find it a bit easier but those huge brown eyes, double dimples and that crazy laugh.. once he starts I can't help but smile and give him a big hug and a kiss, and let him run off and make more mischief...

sigh, maybe I am the one that needs disciplining?

Well since my little lad will read this diary one day I hope he knows how much I love him, and how amazed at how he enjoys life (and loudly).. he is truly a blessing.

Cheers
