July 4, 2002

Hi there,

Well we made it back from our first ever "Coulson Family Camping Trip" it was a very very wet trip, but a fun time was had by all :) Brennen loved camping, the dirtier he got the happier he seemed. He loved to dig holes at the beach, wade into the shore and chase his sister around the shallow end, he loved eating roasted marshmallows warm from the fire and spent most of his time "cruising" our site and hanging out. Brennen really loves to dig holes or scratch in the dirt, this seemed to occupy alot of his time, it became apparent that with a shovel and a pail we could expect hours of entertainment for him.

He slept amazingly well during our trip usually going down anywhere between 7:30 and 8:00 and waking between 8-9am in the morning.. which was awesome for me :)

When the rain came down it came down hard, I thought he would be frightened by the storm (thundering and lightening like I have never experienced) but the rain hitting the tent seemed to make him sleepy and he usually dozed when it rained.. (I am thinking of getting a tin roof for home for just that reason lol)...

We loved our trip and have planned two more for the month of July and August and the McKinley, John, Brennen and I are anxiously waiting to pack things up go off to the wilderness...

Brennen is now walking!!!!!
it happened last nite, We visited the park (Brennen, McKinley and I, while John cut the lawn) and after a few hours came home around 8:30, Brennen's Auntie Pat was over and brought him his birthday gift (sand toys and a great ball) Brennen loved the ball and spent the next hour chasing it around ... on his feet... he just stood up and started running after the ball.. just like that.. John and I laughed at his drunken sailor antics but he spent the next hour or so pretty much on his feet...

I was a bit sad to see my baby walking and kind of had that "I want another baby" urge.. (that is until he pulled out my hosta from the garden while I wasn't looking, then when I chased him out he just "ran" away laughing...)

Its so hard to believe that one short year ago he was just born, and now he is ripping thru my yard and camping like a big boy...

This summer has been excellent for us so far, with this weekend ending in a family birthday party for John's neice (she is 27) so its a house full of family to end a great few weeks....and on Saturday we are off to the CHEO (childrens hospital of eastern ontario's) Teddy Bear Picnic, its a great picnic at the Governor General of Canada's estate, its set up for Teddy Bears who need some "care" and McKinley has a bear with a tear who will get some stiching along with a pancake breakfeast, face painting, carnival etc. all in the support of CHEO..

Well, I had better sign off as I am updating this at work.. and with vacation and a deadline looming it looks like I will need to work on Sunday.. McKinley will come with me as she loves nothing more than coming into work and doing her "numbers" at my desk.

Cheers!

Kellie and the Camping Coulsons...:)
