I thought I'd start this entry on a few of the "B"s favorite things and sayings!
Brennen's age 21mths old.
Favorite toys & things:
Crayons, tape, glue and paper
Any kind of blocks,
Drawing tablets that erase when you shake them,
childrens luggage which he pushes through the house,
McKinley and the Cat are probably his favorite "playthings"
Blues Clues (movies and music)
The teletubbies (why I have NO idea)
The tweenies (another one I question)
Wrestling (loves to wrestle John and M on the bed)
any kind of telephone
the clock radio in our bedroom.
Brennen says,
Naaaa (for no its hilarious, B do you want some juice? Naaaaaa lol)
Mama,
Dada,
Makes the sounds of monkeys, cows, dogs, snakes, rabbits (nibbles and moves his nose)
Papa
Nana
Cat
Mine
The Coulson family had an awesome weekend by all accounts! On Saturday we took the kids to Cozmic Adventures, which is really a huge warehouse filled with a bunch of slides, ball rooms, climbers (these things are huge, as high as the ceilings) along with a room filled with all sorts of video/carnival games which you use tokens for and at the end of the day you trade your winning ticket for more useless junky toys (sorry but I think our kids have every junky dime store toy ever made lol).
McKinley had a birthday party there recently and loved it, so we thought we'd bring both of our little ones and check it out as a family. Brennen of course, was in his element, climbing, jumping and pretty much running wild lol. We split the kids up first, with M checking out the larger play site and Brennen and I sticking to the 4 and under climber and ball room. He loved it and I was amazed at how quick he got the hang of climbing and sliding into the balls. He seemed to really like to run around at top speed without stopping it made me tired just watching.
We then checked out the big rigs as I called them, all 4 of us. John and I travelled up through the tubes and over all the neat bumps and pontoons. We ended up sliding into a ball room and the 4 of us played in there (it freaked me out as it was so deep that B would practically disapear under the balls, I was terrifed some kid would jump in right on top of him). I am amazed at how many people think these places mean your child can run amock everywhere with no respect for the younger kids, I'd see parents sitting reading BOOKS while their children ran around pushing and shoving others. I really wonder some times if telling people you took your child somewhere means just that, you took them and then mentally and physically abandoned them to run crazy while you read... seems a strange way to parent if you ask me.
We had a quick snack and played with all the video games and traded M's coupons for a few cheap toys. We then headed to Taco Bell for a late lunch, Brennen ate a steak taco, one half of a beef taco and a single serving of chips and cheese. WOW hungry boy!
Today(Sunday) we spent the morning at a new consignment store where I "sold" a lot of my spring and summer name brand clothing for both kids and my pack and play (I never used this ever) and a few toys the kids have outgrown. I was leary about selling the clothing as we still haven't settled on whether we are going to have another baby but John was right, he said its not like I can't go and buy new stuff anyway and he knows how I am I'll shop for the new baby so might as well sell the items I don't think will get use for some time. (kind of gives me reason to cha ching shop lol)
We then spent the afternoon at the "Glebe" here in Ottawa the Glebe is a nice neighbourhood with lots of quant stores etc. We walked around and I bought the kids a new tape for the car from Sesame Street (B's new obssession)and had a WONDERFUL lunch at a great Mexican restaurant Feelinas it was great not only because of the food but because B sat for close to an hour and a half like an angel, he ate qualcamole and chips, part of my chimichanga (chicken) and just behaved incredibly well (this is only the second time we've gone to a "restaurant" because he is usually a holy terror who won't sit, screams uncontrollably etc.) I was SO proud of our little family we had a great chat about all sorts of stuff (McKinley wanted to know where Cockroaches pooped...okay where is that coming from lol) It was an awesome day.. I am so so happy that B seems more able to control some of his wild ways long enough for us to enjoy our time together. We actually had people compliment us on hour well behaved and quiet the kids were throughout the meal. I was soo pleased and proud.
Although, getting him to hold our hand on the busy street was tough but all I did was say, "okay B, McKinley will hold mommy's hand then..and he'd clutch my hand so tight" and smile and say "my mama..." its sneaky but it got him to hold my hand so I'll get it any way I can.
This weekend was a really nice way to start spring. The weather was AWESOME and although we still have quite some snow left just getting out and not putting the kids in snow pants made me feel like a new season was upon us! which made me sooo happy I think all this cold weather has been getting to me.
Our plans for the next week are to visit a sugar bush to watch the sap run, heigh ride, and eat some wonderful pancakes and maple syrup..mmmmm can't wait.
Till then..
Cheers,
