Kelli's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 30, 1999

Elizabeth never ceases to amaze us! She is like a little sponge: absorbing everything and learning more and more each minute. Rob and I wish we could pick things up as easily and quickly as Elizabeth does. From the time she wakes up in the morning to the second I lay her down at night, she constantly asks us, "Whatsssat?" (what's that) or she'll say, "this?" while pointing at different things. She is so curious about everything.

Right now, Elizabeth loves to watch nature animal shows. When she sees an animal, she'll get all excited, get up on her knees and say, "OH WOWWW!" and sometimes it's, "OH WOWWWIEEE!" I just love it when she says that! It's so cute! She says that anytime she gets excited -- which is about 50 times a day!

Elizabeth and her books Last week we got a push/ride scooter for Elizabeth to encourage her to walk. She loves to push it all over the house. She has even learned to turn it when something is in the way. She also likes to give her bear a ride and grins from ear to ear with pride! Elizabeth is really into her small wooden blocks now, too. Before, Rob and I would stack the blocks up high and Elizabeth got the biggest kick out of knocking them down. Now, she helps by stacking a couple herself. She also tries to help clean up all her toys. But sometimes she'll gets sidetracked and we'll hear, "OH WOWWW!"

Elizabeth continues to eat really well! With few exceptions, she is pretty much eating everything we eat. If we go out, we will order Elizabeth a meal from the child's menu. She can clean her plate and still has room for a little of ours. I can't believe how much she eats for such a tiny girl (she weighs only about 20 pounds)! Her favorite foods are Cheerio's, chicken, cheese, yogurt, bread, broccoli, fruit of any kind... you name it, she eats it! I am very thankful that she's not a picky eater! She's also a "beggar." Even after she's eaten a plateful of dinner, she will come over to Rob or me and just smile great big and try her hardest to look so cute (not too difficult for her, I might add).

Lately, Elizabeth has been throwing "temper tantrums" when she doesn't get her way or when we take something away from her. These tantrums aren't your ordinary toddler tantrums, though. Rob and I can't help but laugh. For instance, if I take the TV remote away from her she will say a quick "uhhh" and then just lay down on her back and be completely still and look at me. It doesn't last long... in 2 seconds she's up and doing something else. Boy, am I lucky or what?!

I think I am going to try to go out once a week for a "mother-daughter lunch date". Last week, we went to Subway and ate a sandwich together and had a really good time. I am looking forward to that and I know Elizabeth will enjoy it as well. It is much easier now that she eats all kinds of foods and I don't have to lug everything and the kitchen sink along with me.

Well, that's it for me. I hope everyone is doing well and having a nice summer. Kiss your little ones and hold on tight... they will be out of the house before we know it!

Take care and God Bless,

Kelli
