Well, potty training has been going so-so. She's been doing pretty good at school. She wears cotton training pants at school and usually only has one accident a day, if any. Her teacher tries to get a pull-up on her at nap time, but many times she refuses it. If she has any accidents at all, it's usually at nap time. At home, though, it's a whole different story. She often has another accident around dinner time at home. I try to get her to the potty, but she ALWAYS puts up a fight. She seems to be doing so well at school, but at home it's hard. Most of the weekends she wears a pull-up all the time, but it depends how much we are home and what we are doing.
For example, this weekend seemed EXTREMELY busy. We did make it to story time at the library on Saturday Morning. After story time, we checked out two books then went to the park for a little bit. Clara is having fun on the slide these days. She also seem to enjoy the swing, but they were muddy so we didn't stay there very long. Then I took her to the grocery store to meet Daddy during his lunch break (James has been working 7 days a week now. I think it's tough on all of us.) He took her into the store for a special they were doing for Mother's Day. The kids get to decorate a cake, then get a picture taken with it to put in a card. I got the carnation when she and James got home. It was only in about 3 pieces! Clara wanted to hold it in the car on the way home! I sweet talked her into taking a nap ... "if you don't take a nap, we won't go to the circus tonight." That actually worked! Clara slept for over two hours. I had to wake her up when it was time to go!
We went to dinner and the Shriner's Circus with Kim, Callie, and Hunter. I work with Kim and Callie (age 5) and Hunter (boy, age 2) go to school with Clara. We all had a lot of fun. Clara got to ride the elephant again this year and she also rode a camel. Like most kids there, I think she was probably a little overwhelmed with so much going on. She did enjoy it though. And much to my surprise, she didn't fall asleep on the half hour car ride home.
Sunday brought our first horse show of the season. I took her early and then James met us there later on. Clara rode Blaze, our friend's pony, because her new one isn't here yet. Hannah is supposed to get here the first week of June. We did tell Clara that she's getting a new pony, but I don't know if she understands it all. She rode in two events: Keyhole and Arena Race. She got a 4th and 5th which was last for her age group, but she's also the youngest one in her age group (Under 8). She got a pink ribbon and a white ribbon. She was just so cute. She trotted for the first time too. James was leading Blaze and I was walking next to her and she wanted to go faster. So she held on and I held on to her too. She got a little scared when we were going back because Blaze was trotting faster and she was bouncing a lot. We are trying to teach her to say WHOA when she wants to go slower and click when she wants to go faster.
She did fall asleep in the car on the way home, but we made time to have some Mother's Day Cake before I had to go to bed. What a wonderful weekend we had!
