We went on a ski trip last weekend and we all had a wonderful time! James, Clara, and I went as well as my friend and Clara's babysitter, Karen. I wanted to go to a place that has a chair lift in the beginner area. Most ski areas here in Montana have a rope tow or handle tow which I have a hard time doing with Clara. We ended up going to Discovery Ski Basin which is about 2 1/2 hours away. Clara skiied with me and Karen on both days. We did the beginner slope about 4 times and did the longer green slope once. That one was too long for Clara, I think. She skiied next to me on her "bar" and seemed to enjoy it. I also used the Try-Ski to hold her tips together and the "Kiddie Lift" to hang onto her and get her on the chair. She didn't even fall at all! On Sunday, I tried taking her on the longer slope earlier in the day thinking that she didn't like it because she was getting tired on Saturday, but I found out that wasn't the case. It was just too long and too much of the same thing, I think. After about 4 runs on Sunday, she was ready for a break so she went inside with her dad while Karen and I took a few runs. When we got back, I had planned to eat lunch and call it a day, but Clara stated that she was ready to go skiing again! Sometimes I really wonder where her energy comes from! Overall, I was very happy with her. I never want to force her to ski if she doesn't want to, but this time I think she really did like it!
James started a new job on Monday. This means that they both have to get up an hour earlier. They leave the house around 6am now! Clara hasn't been wanting to take a nap in the afternoons at the babysitter's so we've had a handful when we get home at night. Last night she fell asleep in the car on the way home (around 5pm) and didn't ever really get up. We got her jammies on and got her to bed. She didn't even wake up to eat dinner. But surprise, surprise, as I was in the bathroom getting ready for work in the morning (at 2am), she came in and surprised me! I got her back to bed, but I don't think she was too happy about it. We are going to have to figure out some new schedule for her sleeping time. I don't like forcing naps, but I'm thinking that we are going to have to.
This comming weekend we hope to get into the new house. At least get our beds and some food over there! The new place is only about 15 minutes away from where we are now. We are planning a slow move over the next month. I'm sure it's going to be a constant headache for me. (I am a major procrastinator!) Hopefully, Clara will be able to adjust. We've been in the house where we are now for 22 of her 28 months.
Well, I suppose that's it for now. I'm at work so I guess I need to do some work!
Kathy
Oh yeah, I did take lots of pictures of us skiing so hopefully I'll be able to scan one and get it posted on here!
