Kathy's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
November 20, 2002
I wish I could say I have been missing because the computer crashed or some other strange reason. Unfortunately, the real reason is that I just haven't felt like being on the computer these days. My mind has been so scattered and out of wack these past few weeks. One example is after I cook something on the stove top I forget to turn off the burner! I have done this twice now and I am so lucky that the whole house hasn't gone up in flames! I have heard pregnancy can mess with brain cells and it sure is turning out to be true in my case. Well anyway here is my long overdue update on my sweet little boy. :o)
*All the way back to Halloween!
Seth had so much fun tricker treating this year he didn't want to stop! We went down to our hometown so all the grandparents could see Seth all dressed up. This was also the day we had Seth tell them our news of having another baby. We bought a cute T-shirt that Says "I am the big brother" and put it on under Seth's Scooby Doo costume that we borrowed from my sister. It so great that she let us borrow it. It was nice not having to spend money on it and Seth looked adorable in it! First, we went to visit my parents at the hospital as my Dad just had surgery. (He did very well during and after his surgery. He is also continuing to do very well. Thanks to anyone who kept him in your thought and prayers. It was very much appreciated). It was so cute at the hospital as Steve was walking in he was carrying Seth. There were some people who were walking in behind us said they thought he was carrying a stuffed animal at first. Then they realized it was a toddler and they thought he was just too cute! All the RN's and some off the patients that saw him were all smiles. When Seth walked the tail behind him would wag back and forth and everyone seemed to chuckle when they saw it. After visiting for a awhile Steve un zipped Seth's costume to show Grandma and Grandpa our news. As Steve did this he said "Seth has something else he wants to tell you. He's so excited he had to tell you even though it won't be until June." They seemed surprised and very happy for us. Then we went to Steve's parents house and did the same thing to them. They were excited too. We also told Steve's sisters this same way as his sister Beth brought Seth's cousin Connor over to tricker treat with Seth. Connor was a lion and was very cute too. We stayed there for about an hour. Then we went to his other sister, Jenny's house to tricker treat and told her and her boyfriend the news. My sister Laura already knew and my other sister Gail was on her way out of town so she found out a little later. After Jenny's house we returned home where I handed out candy and Steve took Seth around our neighborhood. (The times were different for our hometown and our city). Steve and Seth didn't come home until the end! When they got back Seth had tons of candy and Steve said Seth didn't want to stop! I am going to try and send a picture of Seth in the costume in. Hopefully it will get posted soon. I am also thinking of opening a new web site for Seth. When I get to that I will post the address here. We already have a web site for Seth but, I have no idea how to put pictures on it. Steve (DH) is the one who set that up and every time I ask him to update it something comes up and he isn't able to do it for me. :o( It looks a bit technical for me to even attempt it. It seems as Steve always runs into some problem when he's doing it so I am not even willing to try it for myself!
*A vacation to the Wisconsin Dells*
On November fourth we went on a much needed and relaxing vacation. Steve had some time to take off from work. We were not sure on where we were going to go at first. We thought of going to Michigan or Ohio but, we decided we didn't want to drive that far. Plus the weather wouldn't allow us to do too much so we decided on the Dells. The Dells is a big water park town having outdoor and many indoor water park resorts for the winter as well. For the first two nights We stayed at a place called The Wilderness that we had been to before. It has two different indoor water parks one is geared more for the younger kids and the other is more for adults. Since we were there last they built this huge indoor three story dry play area. With a huge arcade as well. Seth, Steve and I had a blast! We ended up taking almost a whole roll of film just in the play structure! We all a wonderful time swimming and playing and spending some quality family time together. Then our last night we went to a place called Treasure Island. The water park at this hotel was more geared towards older kids with lots of big water slides. They did have an area for toddlers and children as well. Seth ended up going down one of the slides all by himself and after he did there was no stopping him! If i would of counted I have to say he went down close to 50 time or more! He didn't seem to mind the water splashing on his face at all! When he was done he would give Steve and I a high five and then start all over again. It was funny when other kids came over to go down the slide Seth would let them go down before him. He was being such a gentleman about it and it was nice to see him being considerate to other kids. Again, I took some pictures and I hope they turn out I have yet to finish the roll so when I get them developed I will try and post them. We had such a nice time I was a little sad to see the vacation come to an end.
*Seth's speech*
It seems as if Seth can say so many new words now. On our vacation he spit out four new words and is continuing to say more and more as he goes. He says a few three word sentences too. Mostly like I want apple or what ever he desires at the time. With saying that he did see the speech therapist who I have to say was wonderful! Seth talked so much and she showed me ways to get him to talk more. She said at this point what she saw in Seth she didn't think he needed actual therapy and we could do one of two things. One being that we keep him in therapy to help him progress faster to get him over the hump and see what happens. The other is to stop therapy and we work with him at home and have him revalued in a few months. I want Steve to meet with her and Seth before we make our final decision. The first time I went alone and I really want Steve to see and get some ideas from the therapist herself. We will be meeting this Friday since Steve has Fridays off. So we'll see what we both decide then.
*A new Babysitter for Seth*
I have been wanting to find someone to watch Seth so Steve and I could get out for some adult couple time. We usually have family watch Seth but, being a half an hour away it's a little hard. Well, a friend gave me a name and number of a girl who babysits for her. This girl is a Freshman in High School and lives approx. 5 minutes away driving time. She happens to be a cheerleader too. She got great reviews from my friend so, I decided it's time to give her a call. I called her and asked if she'd be interested in doing some sitting for Seth and she said sure. So we had her over last weekend to meet with her and Seth absolutely liked her right away! He was a big show off the whole time she was here. I liked her and met her Mom and found out she has three younger siblings with the youngest being two and a half. So, I have her lined up for this Saturday night. Steve and I are going to go to a movie. I have been wanting to see The Ring so I think that's the one we'll see. Steve wants to see 8 mile and I wouldn't mind seeing that one either. My first choice however is The Ring. So we'll see what happens.
*A very big Congratulations to Aimee and Kevin from the Adoption diaries!*
I just wanted to say how extremely happy and excited I am for Aimee and Kevin! They are expecting their first child after many attempts and years of trying. I am so very happy for them! What an awesome miracle for them. I am wishing them a very happy and Healthy nine months and beyond of pure joy and happiness! They both deserve the best and I know they will be the most wonderful parents ever!
I also want to congratulate all the new pregnancies and new births that have been announced her on iparenting the past few weeks. It so great to hear all the wonderful news from everyone!
(((HUGS)))
