Kathy's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
September 13, 2002
We are in the midst of our busy birthday months so it's been a bit crazy around here! I think by the time October rolls around we'll be broke! With all these b-days comes the cake as well. I love cake and I think I will end up gaining 10 pounds from eating all of it! I just ordered a yummy DQ ice cream cake yesterday for my b-day that my family is coming up here to celebrate with me tommorow. My actual b-day is the 18th and I can't believe I am going to be 31! That sounds so old! At least I don't feel that old.
*Life with Sethman*
I can't express my love for this little boy enough! Does anyone else out there constantly kiss there kids? I just love the smell of Seth every time I kiss his head a take a big sniff! Seth is doing well and he is getting so big right before my very eyes! I look at him and wonder where my baby went. He is such a big boy now! He has started to tell me when he has poopy pants by tapping his butt with his hand saying "Po Poo" it's too cute. I am going to list all the things he can say so I can look back at it some day. I am sure I am going to miss some but, these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head at the moment.
He can repeat each of these after I say them - A - seems to say it but, it's hard to make it out - B - he says very well -C - says it very well also, Ball, Bear, Bubble, Buzz - sometimes he says Buzz lightyear, bug, Bikel - for motorcycle and regular bikes - he has and sometimes says bicycle but very rarely, Boogie -for burger, bye bye, Cow - moo, Clifford, Dog - oooff ooff, Da Da, Dad, Mom - very rarely but, I have heard him say it, Uh oh, what ya do, no, gotie ga - his name for Scooby Doo and crackers - have no idea where he came up with this one!, Guy - he calls Woody from Toy Story this, Skateboard, Hot -he also blows for this word, Grandma, Grandpa, He says many names but, Jenna is the one he can say best. I am sure there is more but, I am drawing a blank. He will try and repeat words if I ask him to sometimes he does well and others he doesn't even try. He can follow simple directions when I give them to him as well. An example - go get your shoes and he does. He knows the difference of my shoes Steve's shoes and his shoes as well. He also babbles a lot of non sense words that I can't make out but, he goes on and on as he's having a conversation with me. He can shake his head yes or no but, he sometimes mixes them up.
*A concerned Mommy*
The other night Steve asked me if I thought Seth's speech was okay. I personally thought he was doing quite well for being born a preemie and all. But, this has gotten me a bit concerned now. Seth can say some two word setences and says a lot of words but, some he won't even try. Steve saw some friends a couple of weekends ago that have a Seth as well. He's around the same age as our Seth. Well anyway, they told Steve that their Seth has to go to speech classes because his doctor was concerned about his speech at this point. Now I haven't really thought too much about Seth's speech as being a problem and his doctor didn't say anything to me about it at his two year check-up so I think he's doing okay. Seth will be going to his neo-natal follow up check-up on Tuesday, October 1st. So I am curious to see what they think about it. I don't really care for this appointment because I feel that just meeting and evaulating a child for 2 hours out of their familar surroundings can't give a full grasp on what the child knows and where they are really at. From expereince I have known Seth to become shy and withdrawn if he's not comfortable at first as well. So I am a bit curious to see what they say and if Seth will need some speech therapy or not. I am not too worried if they say he does need it because I know it will help him in the future. I am just saying how I feel about the whole experience of gowing to the follow-up clinic.
*My little jitter bug*
Seth has got the best rythm! I wish I was as good as him! We were at Steve's Grandparents 62nd wedding anniversary party last weekend. They had Polka music on. Let me tell you this little boy can dance and dance! He loves all music and he can actually dance to the rythm of whatevers playing! He shakes his little butt as well as jumps and moves his arms up and down. He had all the people there smiling and laughing. I know someone video tapped him so I am hopping I can get a copy of it. I just love watching him dance and I am so glad he enjoys music of all kinds so much.
*Planning Seth's big boy room*
I am in the process of turning our computer room into Seth's big boy room. I have picked out a motorcross boarder. I am in ther process of finding a black and white checkered curtian it. I am not having to much luck though. I am not sure when we will move him from his nursery yet I am thinking sometime after Christmas though. I have no idea on where were going to put all are computer stuff either. We have two computers and two big desks! A filing cabinet too. I think we mave have to put it in our room. I would like to have our basement turned into a family room but, I am not sure if it's possible this year for us. So we'll see. I still am planning on putting up the boarder in thye near future since Steve doesn't mind it going up as he loves motocross!
*Memories of 9-11*
There are not many words I can say that expresses my sadness on this day. It's somewhat bitter sweet for me as well. The year before on this date was when we brought Seth just under five pounds home from the hospital. I feel so sad for all the people who have losts loved ones on this date last year. I realize how lucky I am to be here and part of America. I have often thought of the Moms and Dads that will never see their babies or children again trough this year. As well as the children that have lost a parent on this sad day. I can not imagine the pain they all go through. I have and will be keeping them all in my prayers.
May God bless you all andbe with you always!
