Ian 20 Months
17 Weeks with #2
OB Update
I had my 16-week check-up on the 11th. I had originally lost 2 pounds at my last visit but have gained those 2 back plus 1 pound. My blood pressure was 98/65. I got to listen to the heartbeat and it sounded SO SO SO great! I'd been having lots of cramps and I guess that worried me. But after hearing that beautiful, strong heartbeat I felt so much better! We got a rate of about 152 beats per minute. I spoke with the midwife a little more about having a VBAC and what her personal opinion was. I told her I was planning on getting an ultrasound at 38 weeks to determine the weight of the baby and if he/she was too big then I'd go for the c-section. The midwife then asked me a very valid question: Who says that I won't be able to have a big baby naturally this time? And I don't know that I can't this time. She suggested that at my 34 week appointment I schedule a c-section date for 40 weeks and if I go on my own before that date, then great. That is the plan for now. And with that plan, it will mean that I will be in the hospital for Thanksgiving Day and not terribly thrilled. Not so much about the dinner and the whole feeling of Thanksgiving, but the fact that Ian will have no where to go. It may be possible for him to stay with my BIL/SIL but who knows for sure? I guess we will wait and see.
We are scheduled for July 7th to have our big ultrasound!! We have decided to find out the sex of the baby, if he/she cooperates! Then on the 10th we will be having a "gender" reveal gathering with a few friends. But here is my question to you: Should Jim and I find out AT the ultrasound or should we have the tech write it down and seal it in an envelope and then wait until Saturday to find out ourselves? Please, give me your honest opinion! LOL
I'm doing good. I've been having some aches and pains but nothing too crazy. The normal stuff like bleeding gums, stuffy nose, backache, some fatigue. My belly is really expanding and my maternity clothing are beginning to fit better. But I'm doing good!
Ian Update
This child is, as usual, insane! He has learned some new words and uses them all the time. Bubbles, bugs, hello, more, me, roar. His core words are NO (lol), milk, daddy, mommy, Matt (my brother), dog, kitty. He says so much more and we couldn't be happier. He can put his shapes puzzle together with no problems and when we say "Get Clifford" he knows exactly where his Clifford backpack is. He does that with almost everything. He has climbed over his babygate more then once and got upstairs. He is a smart little kid! Oh, and his new thing is kissing my belly and saying Baby! Then he points to his belly button and says Ding Dong...Baby! It is so funny!! He got 2 more teeth in the last few weeks. Both on top and they are his canine teeth. Boy, he was sure a crab when those were coming in. Poor little man!!
I guess that is all from me! I will probaby not update until my next appointment and the BIG REVEAL!!
So, I wish all the dad's out there a Happy Father's Day! And I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July! Be careful and have a wonderful Independence Day!!
Stay Cool!!
Kathee
(Sorry, not using spell check!)
