Ian~18 months old
9 Weeks (almost 10) with #2
Greetings all! Hope this finds you all doing great and enjoying your spring! The weather for the last week has been wonderful. Last week it was SO cold and icky and it felt like January, not April. But it has turned around and it is absolutely perfect!
TTM Board
IParenting is losing a lot of great diary writers because they can’t seem to get this site organized. Although I understand the never-ending need to make the site better, it just seems like nothing is getting done. I think I’ve been over here at Toddlers Today for 3 or 4 months and still no TTM Board. Several writers are leaving or have left because of this. Why bother writing or posting when it’s obvious that the writer’s are at the bottom of their “to do” list. I mean, how HARD is it to take away the years of 2001, 2002 and 2003 and ADD 2004? I for one will only be writing until after the next baby arrives. Then I’m done. I’m sorry to see my pal Katie go, but I understand her reasons. If iParenting doesn’t do something soon, there won’t be anyone interested. OK, that is my rant…sorry.
Guests
We had Jim’s brother and sister here on the 6th. They just wanted to rest and chill and play with Ian. I made then a nice home cooked meal on the 7th and then on the 8th we all headed down to Turner Field to watch the Braves and the Mets. My Mets lost but it was a great night. We all had a terrific time. Friday we headed over to my SIL/BIL’s house and then to lunch. The girls then went shopping and basically I sat in the car while Ian screamed his head off. He was awful. Once both of my SIL’s got in the car it was like he had never cried. He was chatting and yapping with them. I was so angry! Jim and my brother met us over at their house and then we headed out for dinner. We came home early since Ian had a bad day and then they left on Saturday.
First Appointment
We went to our first OB appointment on the 14th. Had my weight done, 126 pounds, up from 124 pounds taken back in January. Gave them a urine sample and then we were off to answer some genetic questions. After we answered the questions we then headed to the exam room. Spoke with the midwife for about 10 minutes about Ian and my labor/delivery with him. I found out that if the baby isn’t too big I may attempt a VBAC but I’m not sure what I’m going to do. If I want a VBAC then I’ll have to go into labor on my own and still take the chance of having a C-Section because of my failure to progress last time. The decision we all came to was that I will wait until my 38-week appointment and they will give me an ultrasound to see what the baby may weigh. If he/she is close to 9 pounds then I will schedule the C-Section for the following week or week after that.
We weren’t able to have an internal sonogram done. Insurance companies are not covering the costs of them unless the mother has a history of miscarriages or if the doctor feels one needs to be done to get the right gestational age. Since I am right on with my days and I have no history of miscarriages I wasn’t able to get one. :( Oh well. We will now have to wait until our 20-week ultrasound to see the baby. But at our next appointment we will hear the heartbeat so I am very excited about that.
After the exam I had 6 vials of blood drawn. I really hate that part! The nurse is great but still…it is no fun. We then made our next appointment for May 12th and we were on our way.
I’m feeling ok with the pregnancy. I do have a head cold right now that is driving me crazy. My ears are plugged and popping and I’m coughing and my nose is stuffy. I called the nurse today and she said to get some Tylenol Cold and just stick with that. I haven’t had any more queasiness since week 7. My appetite is going strong and I already look like I’m 4 months pregnant. My pants are getting tight and none of my cute little shirts fit around my belly and boobs anymore. I did break out a maternity shirt yesterday to wear under some overalls.
Ian
Oh boy…this kid is driving me more and more crazy everyday. He started getting a cough last week and I called the pediatrician last Thursday. She told me to keep him hydrated since he wouldn’t eat. Just offer him what I had and if he ate that was great. If not, just make sure there were plenty of fluids. He seemed to be fine on Friday so I didn’t call the ped. back. Saturday and Sunday were terrible. He was cranky, moody, pissy, moany…just an all around pain in the neck. Of course he didn’t feel good but it just wears at you when it’s nonstop! I called yesterday morning (Monday) and got an appointment for that afternoon. We headed in and the doctor listened to him breath and she said he was having some build up in his upper chest. She prescribed an Albuterol inhaler and a little tub and mask. We’ve tried several times to get him to cooperate with this thing and it’s freaking impossible. It worked the first time because he was asleep in the car and he took all the deep breaths that he needed to. But since then it’s been a fight and we’ve wasted more sprays because he tears the thing off of his face. So he isn’t getting any better. I called the pediatrician again today and I’m waiting to hear from the nurse. This inhaler tube cost me $50 and he’d better use it!
The nurse weighed him and we didn’t get an accurate reading. We go back on May 5th for his 18 (almost 19) month check-up. I’ll make sure to tell them to put him on the big scale.
In other news…
My grandparents are scheduled to come visit us on October 13th. Although I love seeing them, I’m not sure how fun it will be when I’m 9 months pregnant. I know this visit is important because it may be the last time they make the trip. My grandmother’s health is not getting any better. She was just diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. Basically, she is now legally blind and has special equipment at home to help her get around. A talking radio and wristwatch and larger buttons on things. This along with her other health issues make me think that in the near future she may not be around. I’m telling myself to stay positive and to have this baby so she can see her 5th great-grandbaby. But I know what is inevitable. I do not handle this stuff very well but maybe if I talk about it it will help me in some way.
OK, off to shower and get something done while the boy is sleeping. Hope you all have a great rest of the week.
