Autumn has offically started throwing tantrums. The other day it was raing and she wanted to go outside. When I told her 'No', she threw herself on the floor..started kicking her legs, waving her arms in the air and screaming at the top of her lungs. I just picked her up and sat her in time-out for 1 minutes.
Afterwards, she went over to the door, pointed outside and said.."No out mommy?". I told her no because it was raining. she then asked me "out later?". When I told her she could go out if it stopped raining, she was her normal happy self again.
It is amazing how much her vocabulary and ability to comprehend us has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few months. I can barely remember what it was like when she was first born.
DH and I were talking the other night about the different stages she has gone through during her first year of life. He is really enjoying this stage. (as I am also). She loves giving us hugs, kisses, and is more interactive with us. Not to mention she is a "copycat".
Like the other day for example..I was talking on the phone and she picked up her play phone and pretended to be talking to someone too. When I hung up, she hung hers up. Also, we are all the time letting her eat off of our plates if she isn''t too interested in eating her own..so when she is eating a snack, she will offer US a bite.
The cutest thing is when DH pulls into the driveway in the evening. if the front door is open, she will stand there yelling "daddy home, daddy home". As soon as he walks in the door, she runs around, the runs up to him..wrapping her arms around his leg. She will NOT let go until he picks her up. She then will give him unstopppable hugs and kisses. It totally makes his day.
I never knew parenting could have so many joys to it. Over the last 16 months, I have expreienced (and enjoyed) so many different aspects of parenting. Since becoming a mom..I can't imagine my life any other way. Even when I try to look back at my life before Autumn...I can't. It seems as if she has always been a part of me.
She is my reason for smiling every day. Especially when She gets up, she will give me the biggest hug ever. or just when she lays her head on my leg and says "mommy love you". Kids really know how to touch their parents hearts in a way that they will never know or understand until they have children of their own.
