Jerri's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

Introduction

Hi!

It seems every time I do an entry lately it starts with an apology. I have gone mad in the blog world and really do love it. But, I had plans to keep this current as well. There was just so much happening and well, I was using the laptop and the password to my diary is lost and only saved on this computer in the office and blah blah blah....so, I'm sorry. Either way, on with the details.

Staring with Walker: That little guy has started talking up a storm. He has favorite words and he uses them whether they apply at that moment or not. He still uses the word "no" about 300 zillion times a day. It is up to the person asking the questions to decide if he means no or yes when he answers no. If the question regards food, the answer is almost always "yes" but he will let you know by going to the kitchen and opening either the pantry or trying to open the fridge. Other questions are not so easily answered.

He is enjoying Christmas and the lights and such and his reaction to almost everything is "wow", which is kind of funny since we have gone looking at lights a lot. He looks for a while and then gets really disgusted. His funniest Walker-ism as of late is the words "'nare mores"...that would be Walker slang for "there's more". We will go from house to house and I will say, "there's some more". Finally, after looking until he is beat, he will find some street lights or something and say "'nare mores". I figure that is a sign we should give it up and go home.

He will be getting a lot of small gifts, including clothes and shoes, for Christmas. Last year he got the dvd player for the van. He really didn't care one way or the other last year and I don't know if he will know the difference this year. Either way, he is getting the geotrax train, a sit and spin with lights and music, tennis shoes, some clothes, a Hokey Pokey Elmo, puzzles, books and other little things like that. We had Christmas with my in-laws last weekend and he got a battery powered 4 wheeler. He went nutso over it and it has been fun to watch. It is too cold most days for him to ride it and our yard is a mess so he has to ride at my mom's, but this summer, he is gonna have a blast. We didn't start shopping until last Friday. I mean we hadn't bought one item at all. I was confined to the bed and we were just not in a shopping mentality.

Not shopping leads me to Jace. He is a whopping 3 weeks old already. Man, time is flying. Walker loves his little brother and even the slightest grunt means that someone (even if it is just Walker) has to go check on him. Walker is set that Jace should take a pacifier and insists most any time he spots it laying around. Believe it or not, he knows the difference between his and Jace's and will not put Jace's paci's in his mouth. Very odd to me but he does know. He wants to hold him and feed him and we are terrified of turning our backs. Not because I think he will hurt him, I just know how badly he wants to hold him and I fear he is gonna try it, all on his own. We haven't let him even sit and pretend to hold him for fear he will like it and decide he can do it alone. Jace on the otherhand, couldn't care less about the ongoings. Oh to be oblivious to your surroundings! Walker rubs his head about 20 times a day and says, "awwww" over and over. I am just happy as I can be that he is taking to him well. Very rarely he will motion for us to put Jace back in his bed so he can get in our laps. We try to oblige him when he does that because it is usually at naptime or bedtime and it is just so sweet. He isn't mean or anything, he simply holds out his arms as if to indicate that we should hand Jace over to him. Then, when we tell him that he can't hold him, he points to the bassinet and grunts...you know "put him in there" kind of grunt. a few times I have even sit in the glider and held them both. Walker is very content to sit like this and will look over every few minutes and rub Jace's head. Do I even need to tell you that Jace's hair is falling out from all this affection?

We had a rocky start with our little guy. He lost so much weight and got dehydrated that he had to be put in the hospital on Friday when he was a week old. He stayed that weekend and is weighing in now over 7 lbs. He basically eats every 2 hours and that has led to some serious sleep deprivation around here. We are up now at 4 AM because Walker has had sleeping difficulties all night...tonight...the first night Jace has slept for 4 hours...hummm, parenthood...love it!

Jace will be getting a few odds and ends for Christmas but you know, he really doesn't give a care at all. He is getting a toy box (Mickey Mouse of course), a sound machine for when he does move to his own room (I have one, Walker has one and we are addicted to them), a gloworm and some other small toys and necessities.

I have picture's of the boys on my blog www.walkertown.squarespace.com if you want to see them and things are just wonderful at my house. I got an Expedition for Christmas and we've already been driving the heck out of it. I never dreamed in a million years that I could have this nice, neat, wonderful husband and children, home and family and be as happy as I am right now. It is simply amazing and I am very thankful for all of this.

I know I have been neglectful but if anyone still reads, let me know. I do read several diaries still along with my blogs but as with most of us, I don't always respond. I'll try to do better and if you are reading, just say hello and let me know you are out there. I guess that is the best of the scoop right now. I'll be back sooner than later...I promise.

Thanks for reading,
Jerri Ann, Walker and Jace
