Jenny's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

November 28, 1999

Hi everyone!! I hope you have all had a good week?? The weather is so pleasant here at the moment, which is such a nice change from the awful humidity we experience for about nine months a year. It is good for Dylan too -- he can go to the playground and feel comfortable as well as being able to slide down the slippery dip for a change. The slippery dip is too hot in summer!!

Swimming lessons end this week, and we move into the winter program. I am not sure whether I will take Dylan or not. He doesn't like feeling cold when he gets out of the pool and he cries, "nice and warm shower Mummy!". He stands under the shower for ages!! He really loves his swimming lessons and enjoys going under the water. Jumping in is another story and he will not do it for anyone.

We have been having a few problems with Dylan's toilet training of late. He was going so well with hardly any accidents and then all of a sudden he began weeing on the floor and then telling me "mess Mummy, new undies please!" He knew what he was doing. He has been doing it a lot in his pants while we are out so I have had to put pull-ups on him again. He seems to be a little better in the few days which makes me really happy but boy, what a frustrating experience for us!! We will keep persevering and see what happens. Has anyone got any ideas or hints for me?? I would appreciate it very much.

Dylan loves digging in the dirt and he is always asking us to go outside and dig in the garden. The only problem in Hong Kong is that there isn't much dirt but rather all cement. We feel really sorry for him at times because it is so difficult for him to actually get dirty and do what litlte boys love to do -- dig in the dirt!! Not to worry, we try our best to keep him occupied, but it is so different from what he would be doing in Australia.

Other than that our week has been full of lots of shopping and visiting all the Christmas fairs. The Christmas decorations are everywhere here and are just so beautiful. Dylan loves to go and look at them. He gets really excited about it -- this Christmas should be great fun with a two year old in the house!!!!

Have a great week with your toddlers.

Best Wishes

Jenny and Dylan
