November 7, 1999
Hi there!! Hope you have all had a good week. We have had a very quiet week now that all our visitors have left!! It was very exciting for Dylan this week because we posted all our Christmas pressies home to Australia. I can't believe that I have already done most of my Christmas shopping and it is only November. To catch the mail for Australia I had to send them off this week. Dylan was so excited to come with me to the post office and put the stamps on the boxes his cousins will open on Christmas day. "Bye Bye presents," he said to them as I put them down the chute. I only have my DH left to buy for and of course Dylan -- who keeps telling me "Mummy, trains for Christmas." It is so cute to hear him say this. He adores Thomas the Tank engine -- the only problem is that they are very hard to buy in Hong Kong. We may have to send home to Australia for them yet.Dylan has been talking a lot more this week and is now talking on the phone a little. The other day I was in the bedroom making the bed, and my DH rang home. Dylan picked up the phone and had a conversation with him. He then called out to me, and this was the first time I knew anything of the phone call. My DH was so touched by Dylan talking to him on the phone. It makes Dylan's grandparents very excited now that they can actually talk to Dylan on the phone. He mainly says Hello, Bye Bye, and I love you!! We are so proud of him. He is also beginning to count, and he can tell us how old he is.
I have been experiencing a lot of homesickness lately. I was like this, this time last year. Maybe because Christmas is looming and summer is coming to Australia, a season I really enjoy!! I am not used to a winter Christmas - it feels really strange, although I really enjoy eating a hot roast on a cold winter's day!! Yummy! :) I was a wreck last year but this time I am managing the homesickness quite well. I am reading all things Australian and we even had pie and chips for dinner last night with some Aussie friends living in Hong Kong!! The funny thing about it all is that if I did go home, after a few weeks in Australia I would be ready for Hong Kong life again!! I know it is only a passing phase, and I will be feeling much better very soon I hope?
We still don't have any news on the TTC front, but have our fingers crossed for it to happen soon. Dylan loves babies and loves to have a nurse of them. He will be a great brother.
Dylan is eating much better now that his two year old molars have settled down. They still haven't cut the surface but are very close. Another thing that has happened this week is that Dylan is not sleeping through the day very often. In fact some days he doesn't even show signs of being tired. It is nice because he is sleeping really well at night now and sleeps right through the night!! YIPEE!:) It now means the afternoons will be different because this is when I used to do my housework. So my routine changes again!! It is great having a toddler around and I will try to take him to the playground on an afternoon when he is not tired!! We will see how he goes!!
Hopefully everyone has had a great week and keep up the great work with all your toddlers!!!
Bye for now,
Jenny and Dylan
