Jenna's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

December 4, 2000

Today is a day I have been dreading for a year. It is my baby's birthday. She is 1 year old today and as such is no longer a baby. I just wrote my last diary entry for Babies Today. This diary will now be dedicated to "our twins" as we like to call them. Aaron and Anne are about a year and two weeks apart. I don't for a moment feel like I have the amount of responsibility that the mother of true twins would have, but this is the closest I will ever know.

Jenna's kids.Having two children so close in age does give us a little glimpse into what having twins would be like. From the beginning, Aaron and Anne have had a special bond. She learned her first and second words from him and a few of the others. They "talk" to each other, which is amazing to me. They "play" with each other and they truly relate to each other. It is amazing to see them together and see the special way they interact. It is really neat. Anne says "uh-oh," "thank you," "dog," "da-da," "ma-ma," and "baby." Anne still nurses at bed time, first thing in the morning and occasionally on demand. She seems to be weaning herself very slowly.

I have sent our Christmas picture with the entry and I have a little story to tell about it. Last night Aaron saw this picture and pointed to his older brother and said "Kirky" and then pointed to his little sister and said "Noo-noo" (his name for her). He then pointed to himself and said "who's that?" We tried to explain to him that the boy in the picture is himself, but he just didn't seem to get it. I guess we will have to spend more time in front of the mirror.

I look forward to sharing both of my toddlers with you for the next year.
