Jenna's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
October 2, 2001
Hey everybody, it's been nearly a month since I last posted. I am alive and well.
Though some of the flights on September 11 were headed to Los Angeles I was not on
any of them. I am in L.A.. I haven't had a chance to get online myself yet. In fact, I am on
the phone with my sister in Nashville who is actually typing this for me (Hi I'm Melanie.
Pleased to meet you). I made it out here to experience a 4.2 earthquake on September
ninth. What novel experience. If you have not experienced an earthquake yet ya gotta do
it-- if it's a small one. The babies were fine- Kirk asked if we could do it again.
Aaron and Anne have adjusted to the move really well. They are thrilled to death
to be with Daddy. We have a few more days staying in a studio apartment. Everybody
staying in one room, no one takes, naps no one sleeps. Egad. Nightly, Aaron gets in bed
with Wes and I and we wake up with sore necks and shoulders from trying to move
around him. What he doesn't appreciate is that we drive each other crazy in a full-sized
bed, the extra help is not necessary.
We have annual passes to Universal Studios Hollywood. All the kids love the
Nickelodeon Splash Zone and the Nick Junior Backyard Playground, but, Aaron's favorite
thing to do is to go on the studio tour. If you've never done this before, there's a couple
things you've got to understand: Beyond touring the backlot, there are a few extra
attractions on the tour. They have the Earthquake that simulates an 8.2 earthquake, King
Kong, in which your tram is attacked (for lack of a better term) by the Big Guy himself,
Jaws which involves jaws, and the Mummy's Tomb, which includes a fun-house style
spinny-thing that makes you want to throw up. All of these also involve explosions and
fire and stuff which is terrifying to the average three-year-old. Aaron loves it. As soon as
the tram pulls out of the King Kong area Aaron leans over to his Daddy and says "(Un (I
wanna) go see King Kong again." Occasionally out of nowhere, he'll say "Un- go
U-bersal, see King Kong." He loves to be scared. Wes and Aaron stayed home one night
and watched Gremlins together. Every time the gremlins, which he calls "yummies,"
would get killed, Aaron said "Ooh, he mess up." When he saw one "yummy" throwing
plates in the kitchen, he said "He gon' get in trouble. He throw plates."
Anne is a little person. She's scared of everything. She does not like to get wet in the
Nickelodeon Splash Zone, but there's this little fountain over to the side that barely squirts
up water. She'll just barely barely scoot into it and get her hair wet. Doing this, she'll get
soaked. That's her idea of water fun.
She's a brat. She's become so incredibly bossy. Some of her favorite things to say are "No
Ma'am" (to her mommy) and "Bad Daddy." But, if we turn around to fuss at her, she puts
her little head down and covers her eyes with her hands and turns and puts her weight on
one foot with the other toe pointing down. She's also been known to kiss her wrist (like
she's kissing a boo-boo) when she gets fussed at.
That's all I have time for right now. I will write again as soon as I can.
Jenna
p.s. I've been doing extra work for t.v. come read about it on childrentoday.com
