Jenna's Diary Entries

May 17, 2001

Wow, it has been so long since I last wrote. I am so sorry. With my new job and all I have been very busy. I didn't think anything could make me busier than having three kids.
Work has been going well. The kids are enjoying themselves. They are able to be with me, play on some really fun equipment, and spend time with other kids. Kirk and I are able to do his homework together every night.
The kids' health has been not so great since we started being here. Kirk and Anne got a little something that is going around and Aaron. . . . Well, you know how Aaron doesn't like to be out done? Since his brother and sister both got a little cold, he decided to get Scarlet Fever!
When the doctor made the diagnosis, I didn't know what to say. I thought that Scarlet Fever was one of those diseases that just were not around any more. He was so pitiful. He was all over rashy, his throat hurt so he couldn't swallow, and he had a fever. The sore Motrin worked on the fever and it along with Get Better Bears helped his throat. The rash? Aaron scratched until he bled. Antihistamines worked some, but he didn't really feel better until the rash completely went away. He was treated with antibiotics, just in case you were wondering.
On Sunday June 3, I'm going to spend 6 days working at Royal Family Kid's Camp. Have you heard of it? If not look it up online. It is a great organization. They give a free week of camp for children in the custody of DFACS. Our church is sponsoring a camp, here in Clayton County, GA. This is our fourth year and my third as a councilor--I didn't get to go last year because I was nursing. After camp, we're just waiting to see when we move to LA.
Speaking of LA, guess what? DH is coming for a visit this weekend. The kids don't know. They won't until they wake up Saturday morning and find him there. Is that cool or what? The only problem I see is that fact that they'll have to let him go again on Sunday. They won't like that too much.
I really want to write more, but I have got to go get ready for work. See you.
Jenna
